You're in the wrong section, this is for the Captivate.

The only 3g frequency that the Vibrant phone matches up with on the at&t network is the 1900 MHz band. So probably because of lack of that band in ur area, u r gettin a lot of 2g/edge network. That is just the facts, because u cannot change the way the Vibrant modem hardware is.
Its a hardware issue and not software issue.

I've been reading about people flashing the captivate rom on the vibrant and then applying the original vibrant kernel plus modem to regain hardware functionality.
Would this be true for i9000 as well? I really like the look and feel of the vibrant.

which vibrant are you talking about?
the Bell one or the Tmobile one?
The T-Mobile one. The Bell one is the i9000M no? It's basically the same as ours except locked from what I read on the forums...

I want the 1700 band for T-Mobile 3G on my i9000... Right now I am getting no service on my i9000 with the vibrant modem.
Is there a way to get AT&T's "4G" network on the Captivate. Yes i meant to put apotraphoes around the 4G cuz its crazy slow compared to Verizon's 4G network!

i think most of the latest i9000 modems/roms have hspda enabled
Im on MIUI, so they have to be CWM 3.X.X.X/4.X.X.X compatible

Huspa is not 4G. Huspa+ is "4G". Att only gives Huspa support for the Iphones Captivates are blocked from that by default. IF you use a I9000 Gb rom you unlock Huspa support on your phone.
To clarify its 3G->Huspa->Huspa+

well...when you compare it to verizon, you should just give up....
att is not anywhere close to verizon when it comes to any kind of speed. tmobile's 3g is faster than att 4g

Wrong... it lacks 850.... 1900 works fine though... better hope for that AT&T merger to go thru.... My i9000 does hspda without issue.

He asked for T-Mobile Usa which use AWS bands. Look at the op question first before answering something.

HELP ME?
So i just bought this GT-i9000 international GT-I9000GSMH flashed it with CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.zip. Ran servicemode *#*#197328640#*#*, enabled all bands, then installed Mintberry-2.3.17 through CMW, then i tried different modems KC1, JVU, JVP, JVQ, and the new nexus ones, kb3 kf1, NO LUCK with enabling 3G on my T-Mobile USA phone, can anyone help me, am i using the wrong rom? i like mintberry, any help greatly appriciated, ive been searching the forums with no avail, should i just stick with stock rom, maybe a stock+?
bump?
im going to REFLASH with stock JVU(HIEMEDALL), servicemode, then try gamerz rom according to his guide, and try servicemode again, i was hoping i would get more assistance....but xda is a busy forum
Like the subject says... if someone can point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated. Not at all sure where to start. I can run pretty much whatever Cappy kernel & ROM I want, including different modems. Just wondering what the technical issues & tasks would be. And, of course, I'd need to know which, if any, non AT&T networks would work on the Cappy.
The Captivate will work on T-mobile, but because of the frequencies used by T-mobile u can only get the Edge on their network.
As far as other non att networks, u will just have to search and see what frequencies they use and then compare that to what the Cappy runs on.

The phone must be unlocked, and you can do that for free here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045
When you SIM unlock it, it can work on any gsm carrier like AT&T, T-Mobile, Vodafone, and most other international carriers
I am running it on T-Mobile but it only gets Edge.
If you perform a sim unlock your can always put it on a mvno like Straight Talk or Red Pocket. You can use HSPA on those instead of slow edge.

It's been awhile since I looked at modem particulars as well as goodies in LBS Test Mode, but IIRC, can't we specify bands and frequencies if need be, if the modem allows?

like dirtbiker said, check if lte is enabled.
Make sure also you have the correct apns. Also depending on the rom, 4g may infact be lte fyi.
The fastest speeds I get on the 4.3 Roms are 6-7500kbps. My wife's HTC one with stock 4.1.2 is 21000-23000kbps
Any ideas ??

They are the same. Go to system/customize/ACC and edit the default.xml line where it says 'show_lte_for_4g' to true if you want it to say LTe, it doesn't really matter.

I already answered you in your second thread : New thread You didn't even answer... Don't just go around creating threads....
Flash this radio. It's the latest from Bell and Sasktel uses the same frequencies so you'll be fine. Download and then simply flash in recovery.
Afterwards, try this :
In phone press *#*#4636#*#*, then go to Phone Information, scroll down and you'll see "Set preferred network type:" , select "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto".
Reboot phone
THIS REQUIRES THAT YOU HAVE S-OFF, if you don't, not my problem.
Hi there. Flashed the new radio. Switched to CDMA/LTE/gsm reboot. Ran speed test and only getting 4g speeds which are 3-5mbps down and 2mbps up. Ran same test on wife's none touched phone and got over 25mbps down and 20mbps up so not sure what else to do.
Do you have LTE speeds in your phone running that ROM.??
Thanks for all your help
Have tried numerous roms. Currently using tripndroid. Only getting 2-3mbps not 20mbps or so like it should be. Have flashed various radios and notta
