[Q] Overclocking XZ? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I'm from Spain and I can't understand very good the topics, I have seen that some users have the XZ runing to 1.7GHz, I looked for ways to do it but I'm not English-speaker. Can anybody give me a link to a tutorial to do overclocking to my XZ? I'm root but I don't have the bootloadern opened.
Thank you very much.

You cannot without unlocking the bootloader, cause you need a custom kernel and there is no kernel for locked bootloader.

If you look in v android development there is an unsecure kernel, but this is for older firmware, maybe it works
Edit: you must unlock bootloader for custom kernel, i do not think bin4ry method works for newer firmwares

Thanks so much for your quick responses.
So right now, we have no root access without unlocking the bootloader.
Hopefully the genius developers will come up with something soon. A little bothered by the bloatware from my provider.
Thanks guys,

Hi funiewski,
I have tried rooting by flashing that kernel but I don't seems to get root when I check with the root checker app. Would you be able to advise on this? I would have posted in that thread but apparently I don't have enough post count.

Serious: I'm getting a V soon and is the bloatware that bad?
EDIT: You can clear bloatware by flashing an international version of the firmware.

There may be a way to root without unlocked bootloader
Try this well-known way of rooting Xperia AX in Japan.
I guess it's also possible for V to root.
1. Here is a Xperia VL's old rom and you can flash this kernel.sin and system.sin with V's loader.sin.
I can't post the link, but you can find it in uploaded.net. The ID is 3gvvv3w6.
2. Then, Root.
3. Create /data/local.prop (ro.kernel.qemu=1).
4. Flash V's system.sin without wiping.
5. Replace ric, install Busybox and Superuser.
6. Flash V's kernel.sin without wiping.
7. Do Factory data reset to easily delete unnecessary apps.

Please don't misunderstand my intentions. You can of course ask questions, just please ask them in English as well as your own language.
It is better to do this anyway, as you are excluding those that do not speak your language from helping if you do not post in English as well

Btw, do you know how to flash the kernel by fastboot?
I have a C6603, so I don't know if the method is the same, but it should be.
To flash the boot.img, put the boot.img in the same directory as fastboot, then use -
fastboot flash boot boot.img
then
fastboot reboot
Of course, only use a kernel that is compatible with your device

I would say, since the camera BL unlock bug is fixed just unlock the bootloader.
Then you have no worries about root
Yes i had my phone already on 2,3 GHz..this is the S800 stock clock speed, but Sony has downclocked it to 2,15 on stock.
Bu i really felt no difference

If I'm not wrong, if you want to overclock, you'll need a custom kernel, which requires an unlocked bootloader.

It's been explained in some posts by our fellow devs in some of the threads - the answer is: no root without UB, because the kernel has a so-called 'verity check', which detects any system modifications and panics if it finds one, and for this to be overcome, there are already some kernels which bypass this check, but as you know, you can't install a custom kernel without unlocking the bootloader.
However, I saw some hopeful post about M, something about an exploit being available for half-root, enough to backup your TA and unlock bootloader with the option of re-locking it afterwards without losing your DRM keys.

[HELP] About rooting on locked bootloader

I found a file in a japan forum about rooting Xperia Z4. I tried it but failed. There may be a member here who can edit it so it can be applied to do the rooting. I do not really understand Android. I hope somebody wants to try the file I will upload below. thanks.
Read all of the forums for this POS phone and you will learn you cannot root it with a locked boot loader. If you could, there would be an article in big flashing lights on XDA.
