Hi,
is it possible to mount the phone as a normal USB drive (with a drive letter) on a PC instead of using "Computer\Xperia Z"?
I would like to use a simple robocopy script to backup the phone to the PC.
Thanks
You will be able to do so only for External SD Card.
Go to Settings -> Xperia -> USB Connectivity -> USB Connection Mode and select Mass Storage mode (MSC)

Hello,
I can not see the external sd card on my windows PC.
I can see the internal sd card as a drive and i have read write access on my win PC (XP/ prof and win7 prof)
I can see the external sd card as a drive but cannot see any files or folders.
connected USB cabel
select mass storage device
not possible to connect USB to PC via dialog (no notification is vissible in notification bar)
reconnect usb cable
Now it is possibel to connect USB to PC via upcoming dialog on phoneselect mass storage device Message box comes up telling that some apps may not work because they have access to sd card
After disconnecting the phone from PC I cannot access the external SD card on my phone until reboot of phone.
I can access the the external sd card using a card reader on my PC.
I think I got these problems since flashing Voodoo-stable-5.1-Froyo-2.2.1-GT-I9000
Firmware Version 2.2
Baseband I9000XXJPP
Kernel 2.6.32.9
I tried to format the sd card with the phone - no changes.
Best regards and thanks in advance O
I have the exact same problem, when I connect with usb cable to my win 7 x64 system using the mass storage option, at first I do not connect at all, then I have to remove the usb cable once, after that I can connect but only see the sd card on the phone itself, the external sd card is invisible.
When I remove the usb cable I am also unable to see the external sd card on the phone itself and I have to restart my phone in order to see it again.
My proplem is solved. By error I installed the voodoo 5.1. on Froyo 2.2 . But it should have been installed on Froyo 2.2.1 as mentioned in the filename of the zip file. I thought froyo 2.2.1 is included in the voodoo update.

I'm attempting to follow the directions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=998861 to create a customized bootable SD image. One of the steps involves copying some files to the 4th partition of the SD card.
I've attempted to use the NookColorUMS utility (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952456) without success. I was able to download, install, and launch the application. My understanding is that I need to connect the USB cable to the NC and my PC and then choose to mount the 4th partition in the UMS application.. however, as soon as the NC is connected to the PC, I can no longer interact with the NC (it displays the message about transferring files between the devices) until I unplug the USB cable again.
Apparently, the other option is to use the ADB utility, but I don't really understand how that works.. do I have to download the Android SDK to my PC first? If so, I prefer the method above, but I have not had any luck.. thanks in advance.
I used VirtualBox-4.0.4-70112-Win with Ubuntu 10.0 installed, this lets me see all the partitions if using a usb reader.
Thanks, I'm trying to use this utility if I can, though. Installing a virtualization suite and then Linux on top of it just to be able to see a partition on an SD card is more work than necessary, in my opinion..
I too use NOkk Color UMS....
When I connect to nook, i get the usb storage notification...I do not enable usb storage...
Then...I open nookcolor ums and am able to mount the 4th sd card partition...
Do u turn on the usb storage mode?
I'm honestly not sure why I couldn't get it to work.. I ended up using another method to create the SD image that only has one partition on it, so I was able to copy files to the card without any additional utilities.
I found this to be the simplest and easiest - just drag and drop:

Please help a complete newbie.
How do I move an app (or anything else for that matter) to either my internal or external sdcard?
try menu , setting , wireless setting, usb setting then mass storage then plug in to your pc with usb cable a pop up from your tab then press to connect
hope your success
Hi,
I'm having this issue where the SD phone memory is not shown on the computer when I connect my S1 to the computer.
When I check my phone's file manager, I see it has 3 folders:
1. SD card: 13.43GB -> this one is not shown, I want to see this as it has all my pics
2. EMMC: 1.81GB -> this one is seen on the computer
3. Internal storage
My computer shows the EMMC drive and an empty drive letter.
I have latest stable CM and I have a 16GB SGS 1.
Please advise...
Thx

Boot into recovery mode look for mounts and mount your sd card then plug your phone into the computer - it should come up then. If it does not mount then unmount the sd card (IMPORTANT) then mount the external card (remember to unmount the external card before unpluging from computer or rebooting your device. Hope this helps.

if you are in recovery try to mount the external sd card and see if your pictures are there they will be under a file called DCIM. Double click on DCIM and you should have your pictures. Remember to unmount before disconnecting from computer
Are you using fast charge?

Hi guys,
I installed the latest TWRP in my phone, when I tried to backup my ROM I noticed there is an OTG option, I've an Y-Cable, so I formated my usb drive to fat32 and plug in together, I rebooted the recovery, however nothing works, can anybody know how can I make backup to external storage? Thanks!!
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Plug in otg device
3. Go to mounts and mount the otg device
4. Go to backup
5. Hit the bar below the check boxes that says internal storage
6. Change to Otg
7. Backup as usual

Hi Red,
Ive already tried your options. However the otg device was showing 0mb in the mount menu. I've already formatted to fat32. Which otg cable type are you using? Does our device need external power?
It works with my otg cable with an old 512mb thumb drive in it. It also works with my 32gb Micro USB thumb drive.
You may have to hit the refresh sizes button to see something other than 0mb

I changed my otg cable to the traditional one (not the Y-Cable), it's working now
However, there are some weird things happened on my usb drive, I have two Kingstone DataTraveler usb drive and both of them have 8GB space, same model same space, same fat32 format. Both of them can be recognized by my computer, however only one of them can be recognized by my phone.
Try plugging in while the phone is running and format with the phone
