Okay guys,I really need your help,I want to update my friends Galaxy S Advance to Jellybean, but first I want to make a backup with CWM,I went recovery mode tried to open CWM but it says verificating the update package, and then it shows package verification failed, what I should do?
Second, his phone model is I9070P,but the page where I downloaded the update said that the update is only meant for I9070 model and not for any other,is there any Jellybean update for I9070P?

Good that you didn't proceed and asked. You could have bricked the phone.

Yeah . I almost didin't messed up my friends phone
Do you know when the jb update is coming out for I9070P?
Nobody knows.
The situation is quite deplorable really. Even non NFC model has got the update in only two markets. So it is anyone's guess when your friend's phone will get JB.

I need to read more, and Samsung needs to use fewer model numbers for the same damned things.

.
Forum is for Galaxy Tab 2 7" and mine is Galaxy Tab 2 7". Where should I be posting then?

Is there a way you could share your rom with me? This is the original stock rom version I had on my tab 2, but flashed over it without backing up.
Cheers.
I am a little confused on how to check what the firmware is.
Is it the build number as shown in the settings/about phone (attached) or is what Kies state when tab is connected
cheers

My 3113 is semi - bricked since I mistakenly downloaded all my apps stored on Google from my SGS3 and my Epic (my bad) . I no longer have navigation buttons and I need to wipe and restore to stock. Where please can I find the stock rom? Also, can I use 3 series Odin or do I need to get 1.85 or 1.87?

Just received an OTA update on my 3113, but could not install it as it does not work with CWM recovery.
Based on the info message, it's 4.0.4 based + some app updates.
Base on the files inside the update, version should be P3113UEBLG2.

(I think) if your not rooted the ota update should self install. You can't flash an ota through CWM but can through Odin.

Hi guys.
Been a while since i posted but here is the situation:
My friend has a s5830 and its still on froyo! 2.2.1. Completely stock (not even rooted). She asked me to help as when plugged into kies it says:-
"devices firmware not supported to update via kies"
its shows firmware version kb7 kb1 kb6 (h3G)
Now i know i can flash using odin (know my way around an ace like the back of my hand) but she doesnt want me to do that. All im trying to find out is why Kies says this?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Is it an open sim galaxy ace because I had the same problem with it
don't blame me it wrote itself

If you mean sim unlocked then yes. She just tried another carrier sim card and it worked.
how did you resolve this?
There isn't a way to solve that issue as far as I no, the open sim mobiles get updated last or rarely updated so I had to update manually through Odin

Screw stock roms. Flash CM 7.2 stable (download from CyanogenMod official site) and you will have GB 2.3.7 with tons of options and features. Everything works in that rom and after flash is fully working, no need to do anything. Better than this? Hope you find a solution. Bye

don't stress yourself about soft bricking your phone it is repairable
take the time to search through the various forum sections that are some useful "how to" guides on installing / upgrading your phone's firmware

Well said. Also, Odin isn't some homemade crappy software. It's acually a samsung flash tool made by samsung.
If it can't be updated by kies its probably OTA update.
Go to Settings > About Phone > Software update (or simmilar, i use Croatian language so idk exact name in english).

chances are your phone is in a region that has not been given the latest firmware update yet
this is fairly common
your best bet is to use odin and do a manual update to the latest firmware version
make sure you pick the right one for your model of phone
