Hi all. Continuing my year of good luck, my house was mostly destroyed during flood following Hurricane Irene at the end of August. The good news is that I have always wanted to own waterfront property, but the bad news is that I have been a vagabond for the last month with 2 little kids and a very pregnant wife, so I have been WAY to crazy to think about smartphones, hence the lack of updates, communication, progress on the ROM.
Now, there is a silver lining - I am a music producer, and my main recording and post-production facility was completely destroyed by the same flood, so I will have a lot of time on my hands to make ROMs over the next few months while I rebuild my business. I am also settled into a temporary place with internet, so should be good to go. I have two Inc 1 ROMs 85-90% done: "Pure" Magnolia which is completely based on the most recent OTA GB update and incorporates some useful features without going to far out, and "Dirty" Magnolia, which is my port of the Inc 2 ROM I am also working on over in that forum. THis ROM has sense 2.1 plus a smattering of 3.0 features and, so far, is quite nice IMHO. I cannot tell for sure when I will be able to release these, but I will start new threads for each, so be on the lookout.
Finally, I want to say thanks for all of the support and understanding I have received throughout my rocky 2011, and it is my sincere hope that I can be the progressive, dependable developer that I hope I was before I got glaucoma back in April.
Anyway, the ROMs will be out when they're ready, and I look forward to sharing the with you.
I attach some photos of my home and studio for your viewing pleasure, and, yes, that's yours truly looking at the debris....
Steve
Changelog
B]Final 1.3.2[/B]
Battery fix from last version is now built into the ROM by default;
All Extras other than App Extras and Status Bar Icon hide/show zips have been stripped from the ROM itself and will be in post #3 as downloads;
[*}Added JSChiSurf's PowerWidgetControl app that allows a great deal of customization of the power control widgets (e.g., what the sound/vibrate button does, brightness increments, etc.);
Updated AppFolders to latest (1.5) version and themed it;
Both AppFolders and NoAppFolders Versions of Rosie mods have a 5-column app drawer by default now (4 colums will be available in post #3 shortly);
Updated Flashplayer to 10.2, with hulu patch that (usually) flashes when you flash the ROM (If it doesn't work, flash "Hulu_Patch.apk" in the Magnolia FOlder under App_Extras");
Updated Gmail, Maps, RomManager, Busybox Installer, Voice Search, Google Search and more.
Have refined what init.d scripts the ROM runs and the task killer tweak built into the kernel to achieve the best balance (IMHO) between performance and battery life;
Fixed some graphical issues in Rosie and Rosie remaps that were bothering me;
A LOT more that I can't remember right now...
B]Final 1.3.1[/B]
Fixed issue where flashing ROM deletes apps that are installed to SD card (e.g., Aldiko, Angry Birds);
Updated Flashplayer to most recent version (10.1.106.16);
Removed Hulu from data/app/ and made it an optional install in the Magnolia/App_Extras/ folder. Flashing Hulu.zip will give you working hulu with the most recent flash, plus it works with Adfree Android and survives reboots (at least it did for me and several others). The only drawback is that flash will not show up as an installed app in Market (whether or not you install Hulu);
Fixed FC issue with Adobe Reader;
Updated Gmail, Maps, RomManager, etc.
Cleaned up my updater-script and found some duplicates and other issues, so install should be smoother and performance better overall.
Got frustrated and tired, but I think it was worth it...
Final 1.3
Added Lockscreen Mod;
Replaced busybox version from last release and fixed/improved its interactions with the init.d scripts to make the ROM smoother and faster;
Aded hosts file that blocks ads and still allows hulu to work (I hope...);
Fixed some graphical issues in Rosie that were bugging me;
SLOWED DOWN (yeah, that's right) some animations to make the ROM feel smoother;
Updated Maps, Gmail and other apps;
Minor graphical and performance tweaks;
A lot more that is incredibly boring, but really makes the ROM work better
Final 1.2
Updated all amend scripts to edify standard so the ROM and add-ons flash with new clockwork recovery 3.x versions (and to stop being a fossil!);
Put in place functionality that will allow future versions to know which apps have been uninstalled and not to reinstall them;
Added init.d script functionality and several scripts that will clean up permissions on first boot, zipalign on every reboot, speed up SDCard read and generally make things run smoother and faster;
Fixed naf_rom_default_icons" rosie mod;
Fixed issue where camera wouldn't save videos as mp4s;
Fixed issue where android clock used when Vanilla Lockscreen option is implemented shows gibberish instead of date and mapped music key in same to HTC music, not the stock Android one;
Added option for 5-columns in both AppFolders and stock app drawer;
Added Conservative Color Notification Icons option;
Compressed some additional elements of the framework to make things faster (tell me what you think);
more animation tweaks (still stock, though );
Updated all apps (fingers crossed);
Minor graphical tweaks (including some new wallpapers);
More I am sure I forgot...
Final 1.1.1
Reverted back to latest stock HTC kernel;
Added Gscript Lite and seveal scipts to remove sense or uninstall unwanted system apps;
Final 1.1
24 custom Rosie right button mappings in the default icon flavor, with color and gingerbread flavors coming soon;
Fixed issue with kernel that caused sluggish behavior at times;
Got rid of ad blocking, as it was just too disruptive to browsing and any other avtivity that used the web (if you need ad blocking, just download "AdFree Android" from the market, it's free!);
Added Hulu and patched flash;
Added DSP Sound Manager;
Removed VZW BackUpServices from /data/app/, as it did not function well there, and put a flashable zip for this program in the "Magnolia" folder so users can flash to /system/app/ if they want to;
Included Gingerbread Icon Rosie in Magnolia folder;
Minor graphical and performance tweaks;
More I am sure I forgot...
Final 1.0
Fixed Gingerbread Keyboard & symbol
Fixed Voice Search
Added more options in "Magnolia" folder, including Vanilla Lockscreen option;
Made appdrawer (both AppFolders and Stock) semi-transparent;
Fixed MMS sometimes FCs;
Fixed camera shutter sound;
many graphical fixes/improvements;
Updated all apps (including Flash);
Updated to Ziggy's latest BFS build;
A lot more I can't remember;
RC3
Reengineered (see above) most APKs for smaller RAM footprint;
Added uncapped data mod;
Added ad-blocking host file;
Fixed Flickr sharing issue;
Added custom rosie launcher icons;
Switched to show clock & alarm as default;
Switched back to Ziggy's kernel, as I really really like them...
Updated various apps;
Probably lots more I forgot...
RC2
Customized FriendStream, Twitter and News Widgets to fit better with overall look of ROM;
Added Gingerbread keyboard;
Fixed problem with notification bar widgets where indicator lights didn't match state of toggle;
Fixed mismatched app drawer arrow animation when using standard app drawer;
Messed with the animations a bit more for smoother performance;
Updated NoAppFolders.zip in Magnolia folder to remap app drawer key and uninstall AppFolders;
Updated status bar icon show/hide .zips in magnolia folder to include the power widget fix noted above;
Moved some apps (VVM, Talk) back to /system/app/, as they weren't showing up properly for some users;
Updated all apps
Probably lots more, but it's late and my brain is fried...
Add-ons and Extras
First, I would like to note that user Devildog8791 has made some incredible themes and mods for this ROM, including colored menus, colored notification icons, dialer and full themes. They can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981760
Now for my stuff...
Using Gscript to Remove Apps or Desensitize
When you flash Magnolia and application called GScript Lite will be installed to your device while a folder called "gscript" will be pushed to your sdcard. This will allow you to uninstall apps that are cooked into /system/ (i.e., ordinarily not installable) and to remove sense altogether for use with ADW or another alternative launcher. To use, open GScript Lite, hit menu-->Add Script-->Load File, and choose your script. Please be careful, as this can really make you mad when you run the wrong script . The Desensitize script will remove all HTC widgets, but not HTC apps, and install ADW Launcher.
Built-In Extras
When you flash Magnolia, a file called "Magnolia" is pushed to your sdcard. Within this folder are two subfolders: App_Extras and Statusbar_Extras. The App_Extras folders contains the following optional apps: EVO camera (same as regular camera, but with shutter button on-screen), WirelessRouter (Verizon's wireless tether app), wireless_tether (the free version of wireless tether), VZW Backup Assistant, and a patch for users who are experiencing problems with Hulu. All of these may be flashed as normal (backup first) except wireless_tether.apk, which you need to open using Astro or similar program.
Vanilla Lockscreens with Gestures
The following zip files will remove the standard HTC lockscreen that comes with the ROM and install JsChiSurf's Vanilla Lockscreens with Gestures Mod. Flashing this mod will give you the Vanilla 2-tab android lockscreen plus an application called "LockScreenSettings" with which you can create a 4-tab lockscreen with phone and messaging tabs, a rotary lockscreen and add gestures which allow you to open apps/activities while your phone is locked via gestures on the locked screen. Please see here for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919121
Screenshots:
Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22769554/App_Extras/Lockscreens.zip
Circle Batteries
Flashing these will give you a circle battery instead of the stock battery. There are two versions, a blue and a green:
Download Blue: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22769554/Statusbar_Extras/Circle_Battery_Blue.zip
Download Green: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22769554/Statusbar_Extras/Circle_Battery_Green.zip
Colored Notification/Statusbar Icons
This will change your default white statusbar and notifications icons into colored icons. THIS IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH DEVILDOG'S MAGNOLIA THEMES/MODS, but is a stand-alone mod.
Install: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22769554/Statusbar_Extras/Color_Notifications_Only.zip
Uninstall: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22769554/Statusbar_Extras/Remove_Color_Notifications_Only.zip
Stock Rosie Icons and Order
Flashing this will give you stock Rosie icons and ordering (apps, phone, browser):
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22769554/Rosie_Extras/reg_stock_rosie_icons.zip
Custom Rosie Right Button Remaps
As the title says, these will allow you to "map" the right button of you homescreen to an app other than browser (the ROM default). These also will allow users to (1) choose to use either Icons that go with the default ROM look and feel or color icons that add a bit more color to the ROM, (2) use the stock app drawer that comes with Sense, rather than the AppFolders program that comes with the ROM and (3) use a 4-column app drawer (AppFolders or Stock) rather than the ROM-default 5columns.
Here are screen shots of devices with the right button mapped to camera using the ROM default icons (L) and with the right button mapped to HTC Mail using the colored icons (M) and the stock app drawer open (R):
To use, choose and download one of the following large zip files, unzip the contents, then choose your preferred remap.zip in either AppFolders or No AppFolders flavors. Copy to your sdcard and flash as usual (backup first!!).

Here's another link.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S628S7SY
I loaded it about a half hour ago, and so far so good. I really like the look of the drop down widgets.
This is the fastest ROM I've used to date and it also fixed my constant 3G connection drop, which is awesome! Thank you very much for making such an awesome ROM.
Here is my feedback:
1) Google Talk is missing (had to find APK's to reinstall)
2) HTC built-in Visual Voicemail is missing (maybe provide an APK installer for people that use it?)
3) App Folders launcher is somewhat annoying and very slow. If possible for you to do, I would recommend removing App Folders and just utilize the stock All Apps option while keeping your transparency and modified Browser shortcut for the launcher.
4) A working Gingerbread keyboard is now available (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875202) so that would be cool if you can include that as the default keyboard.
That's all I've noticed so far. I'll update as I use it more.
I agree on all counts. I use ADW, so the app folder thing isnt that big of a deal though.

Thanks for the input! I was thinking of making a non-appsfolders version. I guess I will now
I thought I had put VVM & Talk into /data/apps, but I guess not. Will fix that ASAP.
Steve
great rom, is there any chance you can theme the htc widgets though to match the rom. Doesn't have to be fully transparent, maybe semi would loook good.

Do you mean the list/item backgrounds? The buttons/headers/footers are already skinned...
Please let me know, and, if that's what you mean, I can take a stab at it!

Hey Steve,
I think the non-appsfolders version would be awesome. When I press MENU button and select All Apps, it is instant. With the Apps Folders app, it always says Loading for 1-2 seconds. I know, I know it's kind of ridiculous to whine about those seconds but another issue is that the Apps Folders app actually hides a few of my applications which is very weird. I don't know if anyone else has experienced that.
In regards to the VVM and Talk, I looked at the data/app folder and they are there but I'm not sure why they are not installed. Or maybe the Apps Folders app is the culprit?
If you need me to test your RC-Beta ROMS, let me know and I will happily do so because I love this ROM; so fast! And the fact my 3G signal is displaying accurately, that just makes me
Thanks Steve and anything I can you help with, let me know. I've never wanted to be this involved with any other ROM than this one or I wouldn't make such an effort...

Great ROM. Is there a changelog for this? Anything different from v.3?
is this rom using the dinc framework or evo's?

To answer your second question, yes...I didn't post a changelog because it was a new thread, but I probably should have. I will get one together sometime in the next day or so. I am in korea visiting family and it's the holidays, so I am a bit preoccupied. Plan for an update and changelog soon, though!

Well, Salvage mod introduces a lot of the great features about cm, while adding our own, as well as our attempt to make the rom overall more user friendly. We also only currently build for 2 devices. The full changelog in post 2 should tell you more

Thanks! Hope you enjoy it. Camera does work and I haven't been able to find any bugs as of yet. I don't have data so maybe someone eelse will be able to confirm all that working. I don't see a reason why it shouldn't though.
Everything works.
It looks a bit like a cross between CM7 And Ultimate Droid.. I was using CM7 since the first RC and I began to hate it.. did you pull a lot of code from CM?

Core device properties are pulled from cm. There are a few other features we have pulled from cm but certainly not everything.
Alright cool, I'll give it a shot later today! Thanks for the work!
Installed this a few hours ago. Looks like a nice ROM, pretty stable too. Might be a little worse on battery life than CM7 and MIUI but it's early. Nice work.

Thanks. As always you'll want the rom to settle through at least one full discharge charge to gauge battery. Usually makes a difference =P
might try this, bored at work.
im suprised how small the file size is. 65 megs....cm7 is 85
Definitely looks slick. I will flash tonight and report back tomorrow
This is a very good ROM in my opinion. It's nice to see another AOSP ROM, especially another great one.
i really like the settings menu
I like the ROM, but I can't find where I can use my custom ringtones.
Never mind somehow they were deleted?!?

Hello XDA,
This is my first time releasing anything so I'm pretty exited. With that said please forgive anything I've omitted in said excitement.
I used to use RetroDroid by nhnt11 on CM7 because...well I really like the idea of running a custom ROM like CM7 or MIUI and disguising it as AOSP 2.2 . Looking around I did not see any themes for MIUI for doing so, so....here we are. I don't know if anyone else will be interested in such, but I made it so I decided to share it
I use the term "made" very, very, loosely. I based most of the images from 2.2 ROM dumps and various sources about the internet. Like many I'm not positive of the origin of all the images I used, and while I'll do my best to give credit where credit is due I'm sure I'll forget something. So, if you see your stuff and want credit or want it gone please let me know.
Consider this a "beta" theme. Haha...I know right a beta theme... I still have a LOT to do. Partly because I'm still learning, partly because I only themed what my phone uses for now. I only have one phone to test it with (incredible, official 2.3MIUI) so if your interested in using it and somethings not working right (or you just have suggestions) let me know. I'll be using this myself, and will be working on it as often as possible but randomly and with no obvious pattern to updates.
Thanks goes out to;
Джаггернаут over at miui.us for great guide to theming MIUI
nhnt11 for the inspiration
the MIUI devs that work so hard to bring us awsome ROMs
Google and all their devs for making an awsome OS and constantly improving on there UI design
probably somone else...
Screenshots or it didn't happen? Well, check this post's attachments!
So whats themed so far?

*here because they're in there, but not much is done
That's it for now.
There's nothing a MIUI theme can do to harm your phone, but...If it does its not my fault. Period.

*Version 1.03
Version 1.02
Version .01
Changelog
V1.04
Added more notification images
Lock-screen music controls added (auto show / hide) (kanged from suave - I did NOT make them, just modded to match the froyo theme and incorporated them into the LS)
V1.03
Added more systemUI stuff including but not limited to a new pull-down grabby thingy(my first EVER .9 pngs, man was that fun)
Launcher2 mods added - started modding the music widget, new folder icons and in folder image. (Planning on trying to mod any widgets I can to match the geniewidget/powerwidget)
Super cool text color changes to go along with a new in folder image (thanks bsbabcock for pointing that out. There's a lot more inconstancy with text colors like that and I can use all the help I ca get finding them all.)
Some more stuff I'm forgetting
Reverted some framework stuff that was causing issues
V1.02
Added some framework.
Tweaked various systemUI icons and added a bunch of new ones.
Added wifi icon, 1% battery icon, bunches of notification icons, some are still missing or with placeholders though.
Cleaned up most of the placeholder icons i kanged from other mtz's.
Made a new dock from scratch - the stretched hacked stock froyo one was bugging me.
V.01
Initial release
Press thanks bro?
Nice theme return me to Froyo time.
Normally don't respond in theme threads, but just had to in this one amazing work and keep it going.
Nice, thanks ! I'll give it a try later
Glad to see there's at least a couple people interested in nostalgia. I'll be back and forth from the computer today but I'l be working on finishing up the status bar (wifi, numbered battery, notifications and maybe some more data connectivity icons) let me know if you guys see anything glaring you'd like prioritized.
You make me so happy.... My G1 is definitely missed
Update coming later today with 1% battery option(my gosh that took forever to make - and yes, I mean make), wifi icon, themed framework, lots of sysUI additions, and some stuff I'm forgetting.

You should add Droid Sans in to give this that polished look Great work!
memories coming back now
Nice theme. I gotta admit I really liked plain Froyo.
A couple quick observations. I suggest white text title on folders, and somehow more contrast/visibility of toggles. The meizu themes are a good example of highly visible toggles. Appears to have the makings of a very sharp (light) theme. Good work.

Been working on this theme for a long time now and its been a struggle at times especially when its hard to find the time, most of what I have learnt has come from XDA tutorials and the many people who contribute to them so I would like to thank anyone who contributed their bit of knowledge in the releveant threads.
individuals id like to thanks especially: Daniel Czarnomorski (dcstudio) for template and help, pooley, kovdev & sTl2yk3l2, all of which answered my question and tried to help me with problems I encountered.
I have tried to make the theme as polished and release ready as possible which is why it has taken me so long, I understand they may be problems and people may have suggestions about what can make it better or may not like current icons or theme elements to which I would like to hear your feedback so that I can work to make it better.
Wallpapers can only be applied using launchers with their own compatible wallpaper pickers, I have not yet managed to work out how to create a wallpaper picker within the app, it was giving me Force close errors but hopefully I can implement this in the next update.

haha true yes
FYI, havent tried it yet but looks super cool
will try tomorrow and keep up the good work
quality theme the moment you install it everything matches well wallpaper and icons and the dock icons are really clean
sent my list of icons to be themed not so bad for now as i put them in one folder
thanks going to make new icons soon hopefully, first I want to try to implement the1dynasty's template into the theme, activity pages and wallpaper picker etc. then ill start rolling out weekly icon updates im aiming for about 50 icons a week. icon updates arent so bad on 3 themes as they are easy to re hue but implementing the activity into all 3 will be a bit more long winded, hopefully I can get it to work.
just to keep everyone updated I was planning weekly updates however I have a job interview this week and have to complete some tasks before hand, first icon expansion is scheduled for around the 14th July. ensure you send me lists of un-themed icons so I can work on these before this date.
updates not going as planned, main reason for this is due to the fact that after a short holiday ive been preparing for a job interview and now have got a job in graphic design which is ideal and should mean that I can improve my own skills and work rate . im going to give it a week to settle into my new job before I begin work on new icons for these themes, so far very happy with how successful the theme has done considering that the marketing of it came to a quick halt after release.
help me out by sending me:
- apps you want icons themed for
- ideas of graphical elements you dont like or think can be improved
- dock icons you would like, sticking with the glyph style I have implemented the dock icons are easy to make and can be anything from basic shapes to representation of apps so let me know if theres anything you would like.
with regards to the wallpaper picker Ive decided I am done with racking my brains trying to work out how to iron out errors I get with the app every time I try to implement a picker and I simply do not have the time for it anymore, my interests are graphical and web design based and it is not enjoyable for me lol. as a work around I am beginning work on my own website where I will publish all my themes and future wallpapers in full quality for download. this has many advantages to myself and users by:
- generating traffic for my own designs and work
- creating a large library of wallpapers in one area
- decreases overall app size as wallpapers are fairly large in size
- improves quality of wallpaper as I don't have to compress them
- users can download images to their device, allowing them to be used as lock screen wallpapers as well as home screen.
thanks for the support of everyone this theme has helped me have the confidence to pursue a career in design and purchases of the premium greyice version will help to pay for the costs of my website.
Amazing
Thanks grey :good: :good:
greyICE version of this theme is now free, I do not support these themes anymore as I really wasnt very good when it came to the code side of making an app anyway, my true passion was with the graphical elements and I lack the time and patience to carry on with themes.
hope everyone enjoys these themes while they last I dont think they will work as intended forever as package names change and launchers update. I am willing to share icons/wallpapers and even complete theme files I used if anyone would like them, just let me know how best to share them.
Thanks so much

b/c nobody else is giving out updated Beanstalks for N4, and because I love it! I've been building for my own use and since krazee's build wasn't updated since end of April I have to share. It would be wrong to hoard this gem.
Of course, to make it different and worthwhile I added my own contributions. Please try and see what you think.

That's EXACTLY why I did it! It's been the best ROM on my Note II after using all the rest so I had to have it on the N4. When you're flashing 20+ times per day Aroma installer makes the process a lot nicer too. Now I can test a dozen features with the same build.
Future plans:
-modem options, LTE if it's feasible without clobbering too much (eg camera autofocus)
-ad blocking
-more performance enhancements under the hood
-open to suggestions

I know it doesn't make any sense.
But as you've taken a positive step so just sharing and asking.
I've used almost all the roms cooked for N4.
But at the end i have always restored "frosty jellybean" backup just because it is super fast and almost stock.
Basically the reason why I'm sharing this is for you to have a look at its coding and find out the reason why it is quick.
If you can, give it a try and you can easily judge the difference.
If not possible then that's no problem because i can understand how difficult it is to maintain a rom
P.s sadly the dev stopped maintaining the rom and left it feature less :/
All i wanted in that rom is navigation bar customisation and keyboard softkey to enter, rest it is perfect to be a daily driver.

Have you tried this rom yet? It is easily the best rom for the at&t note 2. I'm sure it will be just as good on the n4. I just flashed it and set it all up. Can't wait to test the battery life. That's the only reason I keep using my note 2. But I do love the nexus.

Yup i already have mate.
It has some good features, and the battery life is epic with joker kernel.
Had to try something, thats why flashed another rom.
Else i am not giving negative feedback.
I'll definitely flash this rom again soon.
But it was just my curiosity, as I've been looking for a dev who atleast can have a look at that rom's code.
Just to find out the reason why that rom is quick.

Since I'm limited to 8 "Thanks!" per day I'll just post it. Thanks! for checking my build and giving feedback.
I've tried Hells, Joker, _motley+ and love 'em all. Also Bricked is good but not as fast/batterywise as these newer ones. With a bit of undervolting (see Trickster Mod app included) we get speed and longevity too.
