Its not a battery issue....it seems if you do a factory reset the drivers are deleted from the phone itself....rendering the device useless.

The easiest way ( for me at least) to flash a boot.IMG (kernel) is with Flashimagegui. It's available in the market.......ahem, google play for a buck. Or the creator of the SW has a dl link in his thread for free.

Go into HBOOT (if you don't know how, go look for it! Not handholding you all the way through this), and re-unlock your bootloader. It should boot back into whatever custom ROM you had before.
If you weren't on a custom ROM, download the ICS RUU (or an old GB one) and pray that it works.
If it doesn't work, congratulations, you're the proud owner of a brick! Learn your lesson, and READ next time!

For future reference, its not a brick if you can still power on. If you can get it even to power on, most of the time you can fix it. If you do something and it wont power on, youre done. Soft Brick v. Hard Brick.
Thanks for the info!

Yes if you had a GB radio/ROM combination and you tried to flash a Froyo RUU then you have a radio bricked IncS.

Just a question, have you taken battery out and put it back in to let the phone boot back up itself?

First of all, can your phone correctly boot into bootloader mode? If yes, you may have a chance to make it back to alive!!

This is the last chance. But they can refuse to repair or you have to pay for the new hardware. Give it a try. Good Luck!

Hey guys!
Im thinking of buying the HTC One, but stuck between that and the Xperia ZL.
The reason i want the ZL is for the camera button and the UI - ESP. the UI, it's beautiful.
But then there's this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101920
A port of the Z (ZL, same thing) Launcher. This can be ported to any phone. WITH widgets!!
Now, i love the UI, but lets face it - Every spec and stat of the HTC One is better than that of the Xperia ZL. I have let myself down by not going the top of the line before, lots of regrets. I want to stick to the One, but for this Launcher, i need to root.
Would this be sufficient to root the phone and install the launcher? http://theunlockr.com/2013/03/19/how-to-root-the-htc-one-m7/
or do i need to S-OFF
Please, anyone!
Thanks!

So no

Well if you run an RUU it'll go back to its out-of-the-box status
Other than that, you can relock the bootloader, but it shows the status as "relocked" so reps would be able to see that you have unlocked the bootloader and suspect that you rooted at some point

After S-OFFing my One, I notice a small change.
In the Setting -> About -> Tell HTC and error reporting: I got a new warning message below saying this is a Test Device.
Pls refer to attached image.
Is this an intended purpose of S-OFF? Anyway to turn off automatic report sending?
Thanks
Yeah this is what will occur. Your in essence running the device with no security in a test mode.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
There is a way to get rid of that by freezing or uninstalling one of the HTC system apps, but I can't recall which one at the moment. I froze a bunch of that crap a while ago, and I'm not getting that message. It will remove the "Tell HTC" option altogether.
so does this mean HTC knows yr device is not unlocked?
meaning now yr device is registered in HTC dev as unlocked?
With TMo phone, bootloader unlocked, SIM unlocked, S-OFF and SuperCID, I don't see this warning in my phone. It may be the warning for developer Rom only.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I got this after running one of the RUU's on this forum. I am guessing the RUU in question is a test ROM. Now on a custom rom, I do not get that.
Yea...im on stock 1.29 rom that shipped with the device. No ruu flash before.
I'll try to s-on then s-off later. Let's hope it doesn't appear anymore.
On a custom ROM the Tell HTC option isn't even there

That red writing is only there when you have S-OFF. I installed OTA updates with S-OFF and unlocked bootloader.
So should we worry that it's sending info automatically to HTC or can we just ignore that red warning?

I can't do that yet since I haven't rooted, going to wait until official 4.2.2 first maybe. But like they say, the problem isn't present on custom roms anyway

can you guys test with wireshark for root or bitshark if you get a ****load of trafic to collector.newrelic.com too when you are on a stock rom?
I believe that red warning message applied for Developer edition based-rom.
I converted my AT&T HTC One to an International One so I could get OTA more rapidly. I used the following RUU to convert the phone and I do get the same message. However I haven't noticed anything in regards to not working and MobileIron (which we use for corporate exchange/security) has not flagged the device as being modified.
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13 .3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe
