Is PowerAMP the one for me? I use DoubleTwist right now, and it's got lots of issues. But it does let me get to some SomaFM Stations.
IMO Poweramp does not compare with any player on Output. its almost like they have muted the audio output on it. Its the only player that I have come across that does this.
Poweramp defaults to having the equalizer and tonal control on. Go into the Equalizer settings and unclick EQU and PRE and TONE. Once done the volume is equal to the Samsung music player at least for me. Poweramp is awesome simply because of that customizable equalizer.

Tried that.......no worky........I tried comparing the stock music app and Poweramp using your method, and any other setting I could find. Poweramp is aesthetically pleasing, but the sound quality isn't up to par with me.
The equalizer became obsolete with Voodoo Sound! Which is one of the greatest improvements to this phone. Thanks Supercurio!

That was my experience, as well. I tried a song at the same sound level with both and with PowerAMP I could hear some noticeable distortion. Sucked because I paid for it and am no longer using it.
Moved to proper forum.
Use voodoo app and power amp it is amazing

You might want to try the moto music app from here. It's loaded with tons of features. Auto looks up words for your songs while they're playing and highlights them as they're sung. Links to YT vids, has shoutcast, tune identification via sound hound (I believe), links to tunewiki, has sleep timer, and downloads songs. Doesn't have a equalizer though. IMO, the sound quantity and quality is comparable to the Samsung app. Oh, it's also free.

I tried pretty much ever music player out there and really was disappointed with many. Finally tried Music PlayerPro Trial, bought the paid version that same day it was soo good! By far the best player I have used with the most features/options.

I checked this one out after reading your post. It's a great music player! Hands down the best one I have yet found. Thanks for the info.
what are you guys talking about with poweramp sucking?
the default music app and playerpro don't even find my music because they are apparently unable to handle album-structure. what the hell? even IF their sound quality was better, i refuse to put all of my mp3s into one folder.
plus - when i first tried out poweramp yesterday, i was stunned by the sound. same equalizer settings as on my computer with soundblaster x-fi and winamp and it sounds a hint fuller. and it can push bass even further without distortion - i didn't even know my headphones were able to produce that and had to reduce it because while it worked, it didn't sound good any more.

Playerpro finds all my music in different folders with album structure just fine. Overall its the best out there with skins, equalizer, lockscreen widget, etc... well worth buying

Same here......... My SD card is fully structured as well.
It even links artist pics, and sorts the albums under the artist pics.
Overall its a great player. I like how there is a music player that actually integrates lyrics properly now.
If your having good luck with PowerAMP, then that's good for you! My overall experience with it wasn't good.
huh... i wonder what the problem is with my phone as i would like to compare these apps. but what the hell, poweramp works great and i don't want to spend hours figuring out what's wrong. -_-
Poweramp works great. For those that have problems with muted sound, you have to go into the equalizer and raise the settings. If this causes distortion, lower the pre-amp setting or turn off tone. I usually keep my pre-amp setting a third of the way up. Even close to half way will cause some distortion. I've tried every music app I could find on different speakers and poweramp is the best MUSIC player. Pro player is nice but eq doesn't compare to poweramp. Looks alone though, Proplayer is mighty pretty but I didn't spend $2000 in speakers for a pretty music app. Poweramp = best sound.
I use PowerAmp bc i like the widget best. The MotoMusic app thats on these forums is awesome though. Ijust like poweramps widget better

For listening to shoutcast (like somafm) I like Xiialive. But it only plays shoutcast, you have to use something else for playing local media

i was using XIIA until I found this.. this seems better IMO
Hi all, first time android-user here
my hearing in my left ear is not all the great
any way to adjust audio balance (mostly during video playing)?
I think there is only one speaker. The grill by the camera is decoration with a hole for some pass through. If you are talking about through the use of headphones, then no. If you are talking about through the use of hdmi passthrough or through a stereo source, then you will have to use the controls on the unit itself.
GoneMAD Music Player from the market may do what you want. It has left/right balance control which appears to work. I didn't try it for very long myself so I'm not saying it's good.
Edit - Ah... I see you said video not music. I don't know about that then.
If you root and install TH3ORY R3Blurred, DSP manager is included. You could use that to boost the audio so you can hear better
The problem with the DSP manager is there is no system wide API for it to take advantage of for stereo balance, you would need a video and music player with the built in function.

I'm running ViperOne 2.1 ROM with faux123 kernel and I installed Poweramp but the sound quality is inferior to compared to the stock music player or Google Play Music. I tried messing around with the EQ settings and disabling DVC but even then other apps are superior in terms of sound quality, anyone else using Poweramp ever have this issue, if so is there a fix?
I also tried adjusting settings with Beats on and with Beats off but I'm not getting any real results.
Power Amp user here and no such problems
Check the themes section, there is a sound mod zip file that be flashed

+ 1, Another PowerAmp user and I find that the quality remains the same.
I've tested out a few different music players on android and most of them have a lag when skipping songs(like a 1/2 second delay). Anyone know an android music player that can skip songs without a delay and also have an ability to sync iTunes playlists?
Have you tried power amp? I used it on my other androids with no issues, I like the stock music player of the one, although power amp has some great features, still haven't tried it on this phone.

Power amp isn't good. I just tried it and when I try to quickly skip a song, the same current song restarts and then skips.

not trying to blow my speakers but wanting to know if there is a volume boost out there thats works on media playback and not just system tones
Viper4android, about the best out there, you must be rooted however, makes the boom sound speakers even more amazing! :good:
I use an app called "MX player" it's free and will boost the media volume to double!
It supports all kinds of media formats

there is a volume booster built in as well, you need to check it to enable it, then choose the effect.......slight, moderate, or exreme, I choose moderate as I don't want to hurt the speakers. it really makes an amazing sound difference! I used to have to turn the volume all the up on you tube videos, not anymore and the sound is even deeper
