[Q][T] Unlock Bootloader on O2? - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hi
Just wondering whether anyone has an XT bought from O2 UK, as I am looking to get one of these phones, and whether you were able to unlock the bootloader (do O2 allow it?)
Also, what state are CM10/10.1 in right now, as in what does/doesn't work.
Thanks

I don't have O2, but this has been dealt with several times in the forum before regarding unlockable phone or not.
Type *#*#7378423#*#* and check with "Configuration" for youself

@datagubben
I think he is asking before he buys the device.
@razzmataz1478
I suggest ask the salesman when he sells it to you, and if he cannot answer the question goto to vodafone, every single phone I have from them is sim unlocked and bootloader unlockable.

I'll be buying this online, as it's refurbished and quite cheap, albeit on a bad tariff (100MB internet :crying.
I did talk to an online adviser who was pretty useless and had no idea what a bootloader was, so that is why I came here to see if anyone with an O2 branded version could tell me. I shall wait for an answer

It'll probably be the same as my xperia T (sounds like the same deal i got), the bootloader is not unlockable on mine.

I'm on o2, got the Xperia t. I'm locked completely :/ we're hoping for a kexec or some other way around it by tampering in the ta, but nothing yet.

I'm fairly sure O2 phones are locked for good. I got mine off phones4u having cancelled my O2 order after finding out this was the case.

Hm that doesn't sound too good. I'm still thinking of getting the T but I was looking forward to putting some CM ROM on it. Guess I'll have to live without. Thanks guys.
What about flashing a generic ROM? Would that work? I've never owned a phone with a locked bootloader so I'm not sure how they work.

Of course they can....whats your point? Stock FTF's are complete stock roms.

Got my Xperia T on o2 through Tesco Phone Shop,
sim unlocked and unlockable bootloader.

My Xperia T is from O2 which was sim locked and bootloader locked.
Thanks to the folks at Cellunlocker.net, after emailing them, 2 days later my sim was unlocked, and my O2 sim was set on fire and extinguished through urination.
Cost £25 through Cellunlocker, O2 cost £20 AFTER 12 months usage.

True, He did say that, but since its blindinly obvious that that is allowed I interpreted his "generic" rom to mean a "stock based" rom, looks like we got our wires crossed.
Edit
To clarify the point
All phones can flash stock FTF files
Rooted phones with recovery can flash stock based roms and FTFs
Unlocked bootloaders can flash custom kernels, all custom roms, stock based roms and FTFs

Good that you clarified it Greg, I agree that it was not completely clear what he meant.

New FW certified 7.0.A.3.212 (Nov. 9, 2012)

Just checked and it appears that there is a new FW certified. I hope this is for the UK generic as I have not received the 7.0.A.3.195 or .197 FW yet. I am still running 7.0.A.1.303.
Why not just flash the ftf?

The 195 firmware in the all-in-one thread is for Vodafone UK (and one for O2 UK I've just seen added.)
Just like Batman, I'm waiting for the generic UK version. Up to you though SWFlyerUK.
Any difference between them?
My phone was bought from and locked to Orange.

Thats fine, but all you have to do is remove the bloatware and you will end up with a debranded FW, that is of course if you want to root, and on this FW you need to unlock the bootloader to do that.

none at all, you will just get some extra vodafone bloatware apps that can be removed with titanium backup, again with the proviso you want to root.
Thanks for the quick response, determined not to mess with this phone, so it's rooted but will keep bootloader locked and stock firmware

Hi all please help me
My phone was bought from and locked to Orange.
Orange blocks fastboot and assumes simlock.
can i unlock My bootloader? if so, how.
due to the original method: allowed-NO
(so sorry my english is poor)
Goto the dial pad and type
#*#*service*#*#
Look for the menu to see if bootloader unlocking is allowed.
If it is then follow my guide in the all in one thread on how to unlock via the official Sony way

Xperia Z from T-Mobile

Ok, so my question is what if I unlock my phone? Is it just the same as De-branding my Galaxy S?
I debranded my Galaxy S because it was branded by Tmobile. I wanted to get the latest android versions, so I had to do that. (Tmobile NL always comes with the phone updates after half a year if not a year)
So now my question is, is unlocking the bootloader the same as de-branding? When the 4.2 update comes I would love to have it and not wait 3 years.
Thank you for reading, hope someone can give me advice or tips!
Unlocking the bootloader does not de-brand your phone, nor does making it simlock free.
I have a simlock free Xperia Z with a unlocked boot loader and also use T-mobile, but the T-mobile bootsplash is still there.
Iam pretty sure there must be ways to remove the splash when unlocked, but just unlocking itself will not de-brand it.
Lets hope someone can tell us how to get rid of this.
Kind regards, Stefan.

Ah oke, that clears some up. Now i just have to find a way to de-brand it. I hate the Tmobile brand. Just because they are just so late with their updates.... I buy a new phone and want to keep up-to-date.... Not get out-dated
To get rid of the T-Mobile stuff you just need to flash an unbranded firmware to your phone. Check the forums for how to do all that.

That makes sense. Do you think it will slow down my phone or something like that? Or lower the battery life?
Iam kinda sure it will not slow down the phone.
However I will wait for 4.2 to release and will then flash a unbranded firmware.
If not to many bugs are reported in 4.2 that is, else I will stay on 4.1 a little longer and perhaps look for a way to de-brand it then.
Kind regards, Stefan.

O2 never officially sold the 4X (at least not on their site. I got mine from affordablemobiles) so it was no doubt already unlocked.
Most companies like affordablemobiles supply factory unlocked phones then just bundle a sim card with them.

[Q][T] "bootloader UNLOCK allowed:NO"

Hi all, I'm so sorry for posting this if there is similar thread. I've searched a lot about my problem, but still can't find a resolve. I want to update my Xperia T (LT30P) to JB 4.2.2, but my phone says "bootloader UNLOCK allowed:NO". I have read some threads but they are all too old and maybe outdated. I'll be very thankful if you help me to update my phone. Thanks!
Only if a rom uses a custom kernel you will need an unlocked bootloader. Stock based roms can be installed on a locked bootloader. There is however no 4.2.2 stock based rom, as there is no stock update to 4.2.2 (yet).
It really has all been covered in the All in One thread (sticky in this forum).

No I can't either for cyanogenmod you need a custom kernel which needs an unlocked bootloader

Did you read the first few lines in the first post in the first thread in the Q&A section?
It clearly states that if it says no, then you cannot unlock.
No unlocked bootloader = no custom kernel = no Cyanogenmod
same
I also encountered cases similar to yours and send mail to sony but they say that this case can not be unlocked

Right. What happened in that thread was Sony Xperia support gave customers of Movistar (one carrier) an opportunity to make arrangements to send their phones to Sony, so they could physically unlock their bootloaders for them. Sony offered that service to that specific group of Movistar customers that had received SIM unlock codes from Movistar. It's a little bit of an exceptional situation.

I dont think that its an exceptional situation. I'm from spain (sorry for the misspellings), and Sony Its unlocking bootloaders from all providers, in my case one Xperia V from Yoigo (Telia spain) its now on the Sony service for changing the status from unlocking allowed: no to yes for free.
This situation its a mess from sony, because all the devices sold as unlocked where unlocked from provider and can be unlocked the bootloader. But the ones sold from providers and locked to them, once you obtain de unlock code (from Yoigo in my case) only unlocks from provider and not the posibility of unlocking the bootloader.
The conditions for changing the status of unlocking the bootloader are that you have previously unlocked the provider by any way, I mean buying a unlock code or obtaining it from your provider. And prove it with the unlock code + IMEI contacting with sony by email. Then in one or two weeks sony will contact you to take the phone to unlock. Try contacting Sony, you have nothing to lose.
If you can read spanish or translate it here you have to posts where I take the info:
htcmania .com / showthread.php?t=746342
htcmania .com / poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=2119
Hi!
I got my V unlocked from Sony. I'm from Yoigo too and after conctacting Sony, they took my phone for free, changed the status to Yes and returned to me.
I read about it in the spanish forums htcmania (in the links provided in the previous post), tried it and worked

If you're talking about a "bootloader unlock allowed: no" related issue, then your only possible solution involves the test-point above the battery (as outlined in this post) and some custom software by the developers of SEtool, and I have no idea if this will actually work, but most likely nothing else ever will.
