http://www.chameleonos.org/
Chameleon OS (or ChaOS for short) is a custom Android ROM that gives the user more control than they can experience on any other Android ROM. Starting with a CyanogenMOD base, we customize each piece to give ultimate control while maintaining the simplicity we all love about Android. The most notable feature of ChaOS is the theme engine, which can apply different pieces of themes in a true mix-and-match style. The launcher has been completely overhauled with tons of options that you'd normally need to download a third-party launcher for, such as home screen previews, folder sorting, and folder icon styles. The Messaging app has also had some UI retouches, including messaging bubbles and quick emoji button.
The entire framework of ChaOS has been modified around the theme engine, allowing for custom fonts, boot animations (with animated preview), and themes. No longer do you have to try to find the perfect theme, with Chameleon OS you can patch it together with your favorite pieces from different themes. Messaging, Phone, Status Bar, icons, everything can be set completely individually from each other which provides the capabilities to completely re-imagine your phone. Creating themes for the ChaOS Theme Engine is superbly simple and has extreme versatility.
Even with all of the features we've currently implemented, ChaOS will continue to mature with even more refined settings and features. We will be completely open source and will welcome developers to join us, whether it be by maintaining a device or utilizing our gerrit review. Even if you're not a developer, your voice will not go unheard. We will continually poll our users for the most wanted features and do our best to implement them.
Credits do not go to me.. I did not create this.

Encouraged by the people in the Trinity Four Thread, I'd like to present the Primerunner on XDA. It aims to be a simple and lightweight rom based on AOSP. Stability is also of critical concern to me. Should be usable as a daily driver.
It was initially built -with fun in mind- for my friends and me, but I was persuaded to share it, so here you are.
Some features of the rom
Primerunner^TM navbar - automatic layout change from 3 to 4 buttons
enhanced QuickSettings with support for long-press/click
pulling notifications in the top-right corner opens QS
custom bootanimation by uRRs
custom navbar icons by uRRs (moved to a separate zipthemer addon)
custom wallpapers by buddhalou
Koush's Superuser
enhanced power menu, only visible if unlocked
notification led customization
theme engine
minimal options
loads of bugfixes and optimizations "under the hood"
built from source
bull****-free
Extras
uRRs' Predator-style ZipThemer softkeys, packaged by @smenes
simple Primerunner wallpapers by @buddahlou
Sony Sketch fonts by @smenes
Primerunner theme engine theme (beta)
Still some things to do...
various cosmetics, theming
own settings front-end for QS, sync tile
move wallpaper contributions to own apk done
persistent Primerunner navbar mode
other things i probably don't remember
...
Shout-outs
for keeping their source open all the time. Couldn't have learned so much how things work in Android without them:
everyone living out the open-source philosophy, especially
the Evervolv team
the CyanogenMod team
the AOKP team
the Trinity/Rasbean team
and Sparksco
Instructions
download and flash via recovery (gapps already included)
flash your favorite kernel afterwards, if applicable
if you're coming from another rom, perform a wipe first
it is rumored that a wipe is not always needed, but this is unsupported here
Complete history

Been running this ROM for 2 days since stumbling across it in the trinity thread; hands down one of the smoothest and fastest Roms I've ever tried. Currently running it with Matrix 6.0 gpuOC and its smooth, fast and I'm getting amazing battery life. Love the auto 3 to 4 nav bar and custom icons (maybe prefer some different icons but they're cool). It's got all the tile options I need, only request would maybe be some percentage battery mods (which I'm sure there are some flash able ones I could apply but didn't want to risk messing up anything with your ROM as it's running so smooth!). Thanks for your great work

A bit off topic but I just compared the details of your scores to mine (I'm running Jellybro) and noticed that the biggest difference between this ROM and mine is in the RAM performance. I'm getting identical scores in graphics and IO (I get 7391 IO in quadrant). I can also deduct from the scores that only the floating point performance is better while the integer is even. I do have slight clock advantage as I am running 1836.
I hope this info is helpful

graphics should be the same, as we are limited to 60fps(there are hacks to increase this, but its not a true more than 60 fps), the i/o should be similar as it will vary a little up/down per run.
I can't get the quick settings control panel to save to save the order I want the tiles to be in. Doesn't seem to change for me. Other than that this ROM is very nice and stable. Love the nav bar soft keys, very cool.

You have to enable the tiles in the order you want. After that, just reboot. Everything will be fine.
I know it's pesky. We got to deal with that, until we got a new settings frontend.

INTRODUCTION
Hi everybody! I know not everybody in this subforum loves Touchwiz inteface but I do, and also others. I wanted to create a ROM with a full Galaxy S4 appearance, CM10.1 based and with the typical features in a ROM: performance, speed, battery life, etc. For that reason, I based my ROM in the amazing tackleberry_crash cm10.1, which contains Bionic & Linaro Patches, and is, in my opinion, one of the best 3 Nexus 4 ROMS atm. Please, give him credits in his thread
FEATURES
CM10.1 based. Includes Bionic and Linaro optimizations. Check his GitHub for more information / updates
ParanoidAndroid kernel Google Stock by defaut to provide good battery life and smoothness.
Last gapps included.
Highly themed: Galaxy S3-S4 appearance. Thanks for thomassafca for the base theme, which was modded . It is still not completely S4 because a lot of apps still must be ported.
Galaxy S4 Wallpapers. (WIP)
Galaxy S4 Sounds: ui, ringtones, alarms, notifications.
Galaxy S3 Widgets
Galaxy S3 Launcher. S4 launcher soon.
Galaxy S4 icons.
Galaxy S4 Settings.
Galaxy S4 CM10.1 adapted Battery Style (you must set it from Settings. Circular by default.
A lot of moddded apps to provide Touchwiz style.
More I don't remember...
DOWNLOADS
S4Rom v1 - 23-04-2013 (Temporally removed)

This is why I sold my S 3.. Pentlie. Couldn't stand it. But now finally seems were getting the use of ports that I heard nexus could rock. But if it weren't for pen tile I would have stayed. So now seems I'm getting close to what I wanted. Choice. Aosp and stock manufacturer overlay with no pen tile. Thank you.

I am in no way affiliated with paranoid android.. Just wanted to get that out of the way.. OK I'm looking for people who make theme chooser themes to make themes for paranoid android 3.5 and up...as I look in the play store the selection of themes specific for this ROM are very limited and often don't fully theme...anybody interested hit me up.. I'm looking for people on toro, toro plus, maguro , and mako...look forward to any responses

Well technically all theme chooser themes work on paranoid but not all will theme everything since paranoid has so many extra resources due to the resizing stuff.

Yeah I know that's why I was looking for some people who would... What's the point of a theme if it doesn't theme everything... That being said I know zilch on how to do it myself or else I would nor am I ungrateful for the developers who make them has I have purchased my fair share... But if you know anybody that would be willing to participate send them my way, if appreciate it, thanks
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Well, it does normally theme everything. However paranoid offers resizing which makes it almost impossible to theme everything. Due to that most themers hate paranoid actually because its a pain to theme for. Also, there are plenty of guides for making theme chooser themes. Might want to check them out and feel free to find good theme devs and email theme through play store and see if they'll be willing to help.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Learn to theme yourself, you'll be so glad you did.
ROM: Stock MDL Deodexed Rooted
Kernel: KT SGS4 Kernel (6/10/13 build so Dual Shot still works)
Mods: CrossBreeder, Xposed with Nottach Settings, 1X/3G Mod, CRT-Off Animation, Hotspot Mod, Reboot Mod, N7 Animation Port and Android 4.3 Camera **All credit goes to the creators of those mods!**
Theme: Stock, sometimes I'll switch to a lightly themed AOSP look
Goodies: Google Now on and fully functioning and all Samsung features on (Air Gesture, Air View, S-Voice and all of it's functionality, etc.)
Favorite Apps to enhance experience: Google Now, Tapatalk, Beautiful Widgets, Android Pro Widgets and Floating Notifications
My phone runs SO smooth. Zero lag what so ever and it's just such a smooth as silk UI and it just looks beautiful. I HIGHLY recommend the crossbreeder app because I definitely notice a difference I can guarantee you that. My favorite ROM by far has been the stock ROM, I legit haven't even tried another ROM yet because I love the stock one so much and with all those mods it's like I'm running my own custom ROM, I do however plan on trying the Google Edition S4 ROM sooner or later though. If you like smoothness, some [email protected]$$ mods and just the "cool factor" look I would recommend trying out some of those mods as I've linked all of them. With all of this, according to GSam Battery Monitor I still average about 1 1/2 days of battery life with an average screen on time of about 4 hrs!
Feel free to post your setup and what you're running and why you run it!
No one else wants to share?! Got this idea from the Verizon general section and it seemed like a cool concept. Guess not

You're right man, that's basic! Idk maybe it's just me but I LOVE widgets and I love to utilize's Android's full customization potential. I love how I don't even have to go on the Twitter app to check Twitter, or even go to Google Now to check it. Widgets are amazing but a lot of people think they kill battery, I highly disagree though!

I use widgets. I just don't like to do any theming because it's too time-consuming and I can never find anything I'm satisfied with. My current setup is pretty firmly established at this point, although I do change roms all the time and my wallpaper is constantly changing too.

There aren't really themes specific to the phone. Themes are specific to the theme format that you're using, and which theme format you're using will depend on which ROM you're using. There are two formats: Layers and CMTE (CyanogenMod Theme Engine). The stock ROM uses Layers, many custom ROMs use Layers also, and many other custom ROMs use CMTE. So you need to figure out which engine you're using and then find themes to suit it on the Play Store.

I think you worded that a bit weird. All themes are going to have bugs, it's just that layers has some things it can't reach. You'll run into black on black text here and there with layers, but white UI is perfectly fine.

that's why i said "dark theme" I tried every black/dark theme with Layers and could not get a good match on everything. Mixing themes was cumbersome as well. End of the day I just installed Swift Dark on CMTE and everything works great so far.

The biggest advantage that Layers has is that it's less resource heavy whereas Cyanogenmod themes everything. I always felt like Cyanogenmod installed things super fast too.

Cmte does not theme everything. They both can do things the other can't. It's preference at this point. Cmte is more on the fly, in that way it is better, but layers is coming soon with that ability. But that's about the only real advantage along with system icons and boot animations included in the theme. Again, layers will have the capability soon also. I prefer layers over cmte all day. That's why I theme in layers instead. Person preference ...
