What ROM is the most stable and Fast? - Motorola Droid Bionic

Long story short I rooted and loaded custom ROM on my bros phone. Been like 5+ months since I've messed with it. Now he wants a new ROM. Ill attach his phones info and can anyone tell me if I can just flash any of the new ROMs or if I have to update his firmware and such? And which ROM everyone is loving. Kinda hard to keep up with 4+ android rooted phones in the family and my android tablet and staying up to date.

To start, do you have safestrap 2 or 3? You mentioned it has been 5 months so I wasn't sure
Sent from my Nexus 10

Not sure. I wanna say 3. Its easy to install newest safestrap ya?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app

Yes, just go into stock rom, uninstall recovery, delete the app. Download and install new safestrap 3.11, install recovery and viola!
I apparently can't post links since I never post here but I'm running liquid smooth jelly bean and it is crazy fast. Install in slot 3 only. Most major bugs are history like stock camera and such. Tons of customizable options to boot. If you search for sts dev team crackflasher Targa you should see a page with nightlies for liquid smooth, aokp, and cm 10.1. Don't forget jelly bean gapps (goo.Im)
Again, sorry I can't post links.

Can I just go into the ROM he's on now and just uninstall it and install the new one?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app

Most new roms require the new safestrap to function properly
Liquid Smooth Bionic

So far my favorite is [ROM-AOSP] Official CM10.1 (JB 4.2.2)

What Jelly Bean Rom are you guys using

Hi all.
I had mixed fellings about ICS. its new and gud but gingerbread was better.
So whats ur say on the JB roms. Which one are you using and how is ur experience with it so far.
Im on official JB rom GNexus. Its good and perhaps better than most ICS.
P.S do these ports have project butter in them?
Thanks

I would wait a bit with JB until the main bugs are fixed. But I would propably test CM10 first.
I'm using Team Android Jelly Bean's version, V6 Beta. I'd recommend waiting till V7 is out, or try to find V5 somewhere on the internet. V6 is quite a bit laggy.
Slim ICS with DPI set pretty close to normal. It has no datadata/vsync/butter (none do atm) and it is super smooth and 8/10 for stability. Pretty good for an alpha release.

I flashed SlimBean today and once I'd worked my way past the bootloops, connection issues and TB FC's it's working nicely. :fingers-crossed:
AlwaysDroid, you've got the Devil kernel happening - which file did you use? The Devil3_1.0.0-Rc3_JB_i9000_CFS_BLN_VC_20120718 file or the Devil3_1.0.0-Rc3_JB_i9000_CFS_BLN_CMC_20120718? I'd love to give it a shot, but I really don't want to flash the wrong file - I've had a few soft bricks that scared the poop outta me until I managed to get them righted!
Does anyone has a link to the Team Android Jelly Bean's v5??
i´m using cm10 from 20120723 for aprox 2 hours now and compared to the last cm9 nigthly i think its in some points a little bit slower.
the launcher is very fast but if i wanna switch apps it takes several seconds.
and also in the settings its slower. but i have to say that i´m syncing a lot of contacts by using myphonexplorer during the time i´m testing.
hopefully it will get better after the sync.
and i read that it will get better after a day or 2 of usage.

I second that. V5 worked fine for me. V6 seemed a bit faster, but loads of new bugs. Then the carrier signals disappeared so im back on V5.
I am using the CM10 by pawitp
...click me...
It´s ok and im satisfied because the main features (sms, data, wifi) work great, but there are still many bugs.
But I think if you wait another 2 or 3 weeks, the builds will be great. At the moment it´s only an alpha version.. so don't expect too much
i am using cm10 but there are some bugs. i am looking forward to the update version.

hi there
using pawitps jb alpha rom cm10, quite stable for an alpha but hey must have testers to test it and help with developement , which i'm glad to do and any help we can give developers i think is a good thing. quite a few bugs as has been said , but if we can use it everyday i'm happy even if there is lag and bugs for now, i know it will be sooo good when finished .

[Q] whats the most stable rom now available for P1000

i just rooted my sister's galaxy tab gt-p1000 which is in gingerbread in ages now... being so frustrated she decided to let me root t and install a custom rom, rooting done now my next step is to put a good, smooth, versatile rom into the tab,.. i see some jellybean ,ics roms in the developement and frankly i dont know which one is best. nobody likes ramdom FC's so i hope i can find a rom that is stable too.
query: i was wondering if i flashed the CM9 ics for p1tab. do i just flash straight from gingerbread to cm9 ics? where can i get the gapps too?
You know xda doesn't allow "best rom" question.
You try out the roms and make your own decision.
About flashing ics, you need cwm recovery.
Gapps here
http://goo.im/gapps
Cm9 is ics.
Cm10 is jb.
Grab the right version.

cool... definitly gonna try that one out... what makes this your favorite rom considering its stable?
is this it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523174
Sorry but I've closed this thread as has already been said, best/most stable ROM threads have no place on the forums as it's so subjective to opinion. Lots of people have different opinions and also just because a ROM is stable on one device it may not be on another as devices don't react the same.
As suggested try them out for yourself and find the one that's best for YOU as that's what matters
Thanks

2 questions

Hi there! I would like to ask these:
1. Is it necessary to do a factory reset every time you flash a rom? What is this feature useful for?
2. Which do you think it's the best Jelly bean rom for the galaxy note? (im currently using CM10 Nightlies.)
Thank you very much

If you are updating your rom like changing from nightly to nightly on cm10 most likely you won't need to factory reset.. Factory reset its not a feature its a procedure... And you can only perform this procedure from a safe kernel (cm9/10 kernels /Hydracore /speedmod) because of the emmc brick bug...
In order to be able to change roms or to fix some issue like wake locks or hang ups sometimes you gotta factory reset..
FOR ME best JB are samsung TW UX based roms.. Xls7 with multi windows its a beast.. AOSP Roms are way behind samsung
Tapatalking on my n7000
I like the PA: Utacka ROM
1. Depending on the rom and the OP.
2. pa by utacka is the rom for me.
Hi my name is Luxor and i am a flashoholic but thanks to paranoid android i've been clean for weeks.
Thanks for the info! Could you please share the link for the rom you are using? Is that jelly bean as well?
Is it a good idea to flash that through mobile Odin pro? I did not see a factory reset option just the cache cleaning ones in Odin.
Secondly, does it matter which gapps file I use when flashing? There are several ones of different dates.
I'm new to all this do my questions I'm sure are silly, but quite enjoying the rooted phone.
Thank you a lot!

roms are available in the development section of this forum, the opening post describes if they are jelly bean or ics based
you cant flash custom roms through mobile odin
you have to use gapps for JB with a JB based rom and gapps for ics with an ics based rom, its best to use the most recent releases, then you can choose between multidpi and inverted varieties..... your choice
On sweetrom for a day, everything seem good. Can consider flashing!

I am on TMT 5 JB rom and I am happy with this rom. The rom is smooth with good battery life and I like the muti window feature. I was on paranoid rom which I also like for a while. With the multi-window feature I do not think I will go back to paranoid rom unless it has the same feature.
I have decided for TMT 5 as well, downloaded it and has some great features, the icons seem rather blocky but I can make my peace with that given the extras. Could anyone share the link where the updates of that rom are? Have found this initial version but not where the changelogs are. Thanks a lot!

[Q] New to droid, asking for help

I have recently switched to droid from iOS and I am very confused about rooting.
I have NoteCore kernel on 4.0.4 and I am looking for a custom ROM to flash
I don't know anything about roms and I was only following a guide when I got NoteCore so a good explanation along with ROMs would be good
I want to know what is the best rom for a galaxy note in your opinion, I am not really looking for much. just it has to be quick and have S pen support (I dunno if all roms have that)
also any other cool stuff to add to my note
sorry for all these questions but iOS has so little customization I am just used to everything being served on a plate
many thanks, razzile
(sorry if this is in the wrong section)

This is my review for ultimate jb.i used stock roms for a year.so dont try to have a high jump.you may brick your phone.i used a zip file in recovery to root my n7000.i dont feel comfortable with odin.
I think you can find good info if you search root galaxy note.
Read my thread and i'll be happy to hear from you my friend

if you are on Notecore kernel, you must be already rooted and have CWM and notecore is a safe kernel too.
so you can go about flash custom roms.
here is a list of roms that you can choose from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847786
read the reviews and features .. "my best might not be your best"
Well its accourding to your taste you have to try touchwiz ROM like alliance or ultimate or cyanogenmode like asylum (the best for now) then you will decide touchwiz or CM Every one of them have a dozens of custom roms

If you are new to android I would stick to a stock ICS rom with PhilZ kernel until you feel comfortable with how android works. In my opinion the leaked JB roms are not recommendable for a beginner, they still contain bugs. And I would not directly go to a custom rom too because it takes at least som knowledge to fix the problems you might encounter. With a stock ICS rom.in combination with the PhilZ kernel you have root rights, CWM to nand backups (system images),.everything you need for a good android experience. That's a good base to start. And as soon as you get to know the os better you can start using custom roms if you like.

Screen Sensitivity MOD credit Team Venum

All credit goes to Team Venum for this mod. I just found this and wanted to share. It works perfectly for our HTC One's especially if you want to run an AOSP, CM, AOKP... Etc. ROM with a screen protector when the home and back buttons don't work. Tried this out after installing GlassTr Screen Protector and required the most recent kernel that hasn't been released to developers yet.........

Where did Venum say it works with any device? He did this for the Optimus G running stock roms, not any sprint device. Im not sure about all those files in the zip but this being for another OEM device I wouldnt flash it till Venum confirms those are stock android files and not device specific, on sense based stuff of course.

He didn't say anywhere that it would work. I just got bored and decided to give it a try. Was tired of not being able to flash aosp Roms because of my screen protector.
Now if you have any .02 please do tell and let people know. I'm just stating it worked for me and I'm pleased.
Working just fine for me but I have noticed a significant battery drain because of it.
