# The games on official gingerbread ROM sometimes starts lagging that makes me frustrated!
So please suggest me the ROM that solves my this (#) issue
You are using Gingerbread, firstly you should upgrade to Jelly Bean. (for me)

You're welcome
As for GIMP, I learned GIMP by myself, watching only a few tutorials, took me a long time, but now I know GIMP as the palm of my hand
But there is a great Youtube channel I'd like to give you with some awesome GIMP tutorials.
Here's the link http://www.youtube.com/user/GimpedTutorials
May I ask why you use GIMP and not photoshop? As I'm a graphic designer I just don't understand why people use software like that. Same with software as Sony Vegas.

First of all, GIMP is (legally) free.
Secondly, GIMP has a more user friendly interface, and I have found it over all, on par with Photoshop in terms of features, and much easier to use.

Seems legit
But I think if you want to do something with your creative mind for business purposes, you should definitely step off and go on Adobe

No doubt
GIMP...
Actually I love to respect the efforts which was made by the people of an open community to develop GIMP which is an open source software.
In the case of business, small shops which want a legal software for creating the simple stuff like logos only can't afford legally!
What most people do is that they just simply download it from torrent, I have also downloaded but that don't give the feeling of original software as it is not right if we further think about this topic...
Adobe is best in it's place & GIMP is best in the open source world
That's why I like to use GIMP instead of using pirated & cracked Adobe Photoshop.
One more thing, Adobe Photoshop is costly if I just want to create fun things at my home

I just started making ROMs today and I'm going to start with just modifying a ROM.
Couldn't get the Golden Elegance theme to work with anything. So it's has ADW Launcher and everything else.
Goodies added:
Hulu
Flashplayer
Wireless Tether
A Skinned "Droid Does" Swype Keyboard
Option Of ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro
I'll work on different colored themes in the near future.

What did you do to get Hulu working?
is 8GB internal storage present and is BT audio fixed? Those are keeping me away from CM6 for now...
I included the hulu.apk and the hulu flash player I got from skyraider

thx for the response and no worries, was just curious. don't pay attention to the negative comment(s).
Yo hot taco, overall pretty nice. The only thing i would suggest is to theme over all the cyan (blue) parts to make them look like vanilla (even though thats my area of expertise).
Good luck with future roms.

I agree 110%.. I've thought about trying to learn how to cook up some ROMs but if this is how i would get treated, forget it. So what if its not a "ROM". Everyone has to start somewhere. He's learning. He's obviously smarter than you at age 13 and you obviously have a problem with it. Grow up before you decided to post such nonsense.
EDIT: just to clarify, this was directed at rulevoid, not mtag. i was just agreeing with mtag, which is the reason for the quote.
Imma get the mods over here ok?? Flaming makes me MAD!
Wow. Cut the kid some slack. It's these kind of replies that are the reason some of the best rom cookers out there won't post on this forum).

wtf rulevoid, he's just a kid trying to contribute. You obviously don't have kids. And if you ever talked to my kids like that for trying to be part of a community I'd slap the crap out of you.

@OP glad ur taking interest and trying to learn to cook roms.
perhaps u should work on creating some original material and get some people to test/help u before u create a thread for a ROM...
That way nobody could complain and u could learn and put together a good ROM
Wow, sure he just used a basic kitchen to add things a lot of ppl add anyways. This isn't for me so I'm not gonna flash it, but I'm not gonna flame someone for doing this. A lot of people will find this useful. Just because its not for you doesn't mean its right to treat someone trying to contribute like this.
OP if u want some help with creating update.zip's pm me and I'll help you out.

I got a book I wrote that I want to make an app of.
I never programmed on a android system before and I cant java, but I use to program in other languages.
What I need to know were to start.
I have android sdk installed.
The app need meny for the different chapters.
All text in the chapters need to be scrollable or buttons to changes sides.
There should also be a meny item that explains the chapters. Also an about button.
So how can I do this?
Example sorce code?

Why don't you just put it in PDF format... or use one of the existing eBook formats that is supported by something like FBReaderJ or one of the other eBook readers??
Please guys... This is ANDROID DEVELOPMENT and your asking about making a book??
Please, please use the right section! We have a forum for this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=748

Sorry for that, i misunderstood your question.
I'm interested in this topic as well as i know a few people who wants to publicize their Books works as an App, to prevent people from trading it around without paying their dues.
Ahh one person that understand this
Itso true that I want to make money for a app that has this book. Why should I not?
I have spend many many hours to write it and I want to share it like an app.

I just wanted to say how ez it was to pose as some noob ... (samsungfan05) on IRC and get the knowledge of how to change the status bar on Generation X to the Revolution 3.6 solid black bar. All you have to do is, go into the framework.apk that is in your theme that you want to use as the base using your rar/zip program and drag n drop the images from the framework in the theme you want to take stuff out of, into res/drawable-hdpi in the base themes framework.apk ... APKs evidently open up with zip programs so i could have been doing this since i had my nexus one. hell i think i might post my dock i used and made for my iphone it was hella slicc. The whole process is really simple as hell I just wanted anyone that wondered if you can do this sort of thing (i used to decompile and customize themes like hell on iOS) in android, you can. it's not any more involved either... just drag n drop. if you can't pull that off... kill yourself.
So, no more can you port this theme threads for me, i'm just going do the **** myself... or if someone has a requests, for a generous donation, i will port it for you since I am well on the way to doing so. Peace
There is actually a lot more to it.then just editing the drawable hdpi.folder in the framework...,most of make at.minimum edits to over to.xml.files in the frameworks......and use smali/backsmali to edit the service.jars
Also why did you have to pose as someone else to get information...,everyone is more than willing to share what they know

So... the point of this post is that you want to charge people a lot of money to port themes?
Wow, that's not cool.
I also don't understand why you needed to pose as a noob to ask for advice. Are you that disliked in IRC that you won't be helped if people know its you?

There really is. I've been playing with it a bit in an attempt to port the NeonGT theme from the i9000 but there's more to it than swapping a few .png's and apparently I'm not totally getting it yet. A few more hours of learning and I think I'll have it down though.

its one thing for a dev who makes us awsome ROM's and kernels, or themes they create them selves, hey they deserve it. but to ask for a donation for something you ripped off from some one else?? duche bag.
Cleaned and closed.
As in title is it possible to make gmail from android 4.0 work on 2.3? I really love new gmail but I want to stay on 2.3 (better battery life, faster, more stable).

I think that won't work.
So, what's the know-how, in your opinion, to be part of the 4x HD developing team, and the knowledge needed to cook a successful rom ?
There are so many tutorials over in the Android development forums right here in XDA. I think nobody can say like "learn this, this and that and then you're perfectly ready for developing". It needs practice and patience and some basic knowledge of coding.

Be curious.
Never believe you have nothing more to learn.
Be humble, learn from others.
Never give anything for granted,
Read. Read a lot. Read thousand times more than you write.
Expect to face a lot of problems
Do not expect others to solve your problems.
Use your brain.
Do not believe in "magic formulas". What one does as a developer is the result out of his/her efforts and committment, at least, if he/she is a honest one.
Prepare yourself to be willing to give up.
