Hey all,
I rooted my xperia T using the official Sony method and then flashed a new kernel + custom rom. However I've decided that I don't like the phone and a friend has offered to buy it from me. I'd like to return the phone to the stock kernel and stock rom. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to do this as I pretty much fumbled my way through the flashing the first time around!
Cheers
Search for flashtool version 0.9.9.0 and download.
Download .ftf file of the firmware you want to flash and place it in flashtool firmware folder.
Start flashtool.exe and follow instructions. Leave all boxes ticked (wipe dalvik, user data, baseband etc)
Will that get rid of everything including returning me to the normal Sony and Xperia boot screen sequence? At the moment I've got FreeXperia and ParanoidAndroid.

Yes, but the bootloader may still be locked as not all ftf's relock the bootloader, I'm sure I saw an ftf in the development section which did that though.

No need to say noob question. The fact you posted a question in the gfeneral section explains that.
But the advice given is correct, just flash your original ftf. You should have made one if you read the All in one thread properly before you started messign with your phone. If you didnt, just choose one fromt he list inthe all in one thread then repair using pc companion.
Thanks, I just flashed back to what I thought was an unbranded rom, but it turned out to have '3 network' customisations.
Last night I found a thread that had a massive list of Xperia T Stock roms/kernels etc but I cant find it now despite searching for over an hour. Can someone point me in the direction of the thread, or maybe a completely generic UK rom with no network branding or dev customisations?

EDIT: Done!
I'm after some help with my CPU settings. I'm running stock android 4.1.2 on a C6603. Build is 253.
I've got Rom Toolbox Lite and it has settings to tweak the kernel and CPU settings. I'm after some help as to what settings are the best when I want a decent combination of speed (I'm heavy on the ole Internet and gaming) and lasting battery life.
Any help or links would be much appreciated.
I am rooted but a noob at messing around with it.

To be honest, I have never used ROM Toolbox.
Infact for such apps, most "tweaks" give you a negligible performance benefit.
The only way to truly get a performance benefit is to play around with settings till you reach an optimum.
If you are truly after good kernel tweaks, take a look at Trickster Mod.
For battery savings, I recommend the use of Greenify.

If you are coming from an AMOLED display, then you might find that the Z's display is a bit under saturated.
But actually, the display is quite precise. There is nothing "wrong" with it.
All problems with viewing angles were solved in the subsequent updates.

First, I want to thank you for bringing this to the Sony Xperia Z forum as this would help alot of new and old XDA members. Its an great idea the QnA section is indeed a mess and I do understand that most moderators are busy with other things as well, this would definitely save them alot of time.

mirroring
I can not mirror my Xperia Z with my LG TV, I recently installed the cyanogenmod and mirroring worked, but with the stock roms, does not work, can someone help?
I've recently rooted my Z with Doomlord's Easy rooting toolkit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327472). The root was successful and I had verified root access. But whenever I try to change system files like adding boot animation, editing fonts or even just simply change system files to RW, my phone will automatically force reboot itself. Please help!!!
Firmware:10.1.1A.1.253

I'm using .423 but already tried with .434 and .253, but it's the same thing, I seek the tv, he thinks, and then the time to connect, it just disconnects before the image appears on TV, the strange thing is that in cyanogem worked perfectly.
Hi, since .423 update I got problem with background data. Restricting it for a period of time then removing it by tapping from notification or setting doesn't really remove the restrictions. Accessing play store gets pop up notification to enabled background data. Problem solved by reboot. Anyone experience this and know how to fix this? Thanks in advance. Sorry for bad english.

I've made this thread to help people who have some problem and make new threads instead of searching the common questions. In my next post I will start posting the FAQ's and since it's not possible for me to be online 24/7 so it may take sometime but i will keep updating it. And if anyone have some doubts feel free to ask. BTW Ifeel free to PM me if you have some ideas or nice questions to improve this thread
Q1: I get bootloop after installing a custom rom. What is the problem?
A: Have you done everything correctly?
-Firstly post your problem in the ROM thread as the devs there may help you better.
-Check your mobile compatibility with the ROM
-Check if you have installed the correct kernel for your ROM.
-Check whether you have done the correct wipes as mentioned in the ROM thread.
-Some ROMs require formatting system. So if it is mentioned in main ROM thread then you must do it.
-Some releases may require stock rom first before flashing the custom rom. So flash the stock rom and then the custom rom over it.
If nothing works just download the stock ROM for your mobile and flash it using flashtool. This may solve your problem.
Q2: Can you suggest me the best ROM or kernel or something like that for my smartphone cause i'm really lazy to do a bit of searching...?
A: as per XDA rules a user is not supposed to ask for Best rom, one can go to dev forum and try some roms and decided which is best for them
Q3: I have rooted my phone successfully, now how can I install CWM (ClockWorkMod) Recovery?
A: go here download the the cwm and follow the thread properly to flash there
Q4: I have a problem with this ROM and what should I....
A: It's a ROM specific question, better post it in the ROM thread. They will help you better.
Q5: What is the safest way to root my phone or unlock its bootloader?
A: There no such thing as safest way. If you do everything correctly you will be successful in rooting you phone and unlocking the bootloader
Rooting - go here
how to root new fw .245--http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405933

Q6: How do I deodex a rom
A:go here and flash the zip as per ur fw version
Q7: How do I back up my TA partition
A:use this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
Q8: How do I build a kernel for SP
A: go here
Q9: From where i do download stock ftf files
A: go here where u need to flash these files through FLASHTOOL
Q10: How do I OC(OverClock) or UC(UnderClock) my phone?
A: If your kernel supports the function and if your ROM has inbuilt option for the fuction then you can do it directly from ROM or else you can buy/download apps like SetCPU for your phone and can use it easily to OC, UC or change governer of your CPU. *Playing with your CPU is at your own risk and if you go anywhere wrong your phone might not be able to recover(permanent brick). So if you are a newbie(noob) just stay away from these things*
Q11: How does Thanks Meter affect my profile?
A: Thanks Meter actually is not useful in becoming Recognized Contributor/Themer/Developer. It is actually the appreciation you get on you works. Thanks Meter has been made so that members of XDA stop posting just THANKS on threads and thread could be clean and helpful.
Q12: How to be a Recognized Contributor/Themer/Developer?
A: Recognized Contributor is a role intended for members who produce some of the best original and helpful guides for users, as well as helping other users who have problems, in a friendly manner. Recognized Contributors will get a custom user title and the faster ad-free XDA template, as well as access to developer tools currently being created. Any Senior Moderator on XDA can add Recognized Contributors, should you feel deserving of this title.
Recognized Themers are those users who work (often tirelessly) on designing new theme graphics and user interface overhauls for ROMs. Users who aspire to be Recognized Themers should be creating original graphics work for their themes being released, demonstrate a commitment to crediting other users’ work when applicable, and seek the relevant permission in advance from the original creator. Recognized Themers will receive a custom user title and the faster ad-free XDA template, as well as access to developer tools currently being created. Any Senior Moderator on XDA can add Recognized Themers, should you feel deserving of this title.
Recognized Developer, as the name suggest are those who develop really good ROMs, kernels, etc. Anyone who is skillful and publishes his own creation other that just copying and pasting can be termed as recognized developer.
For more details and how to apply for these posts. See this.
Q13: Why does my phone say Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No?
A: It's most probably a simlock. The mobile you bought has a simlock of the particular company whose SIM is being used. Normally the companies used to provide the unlocking code after sometime but now I think it won't be provided from now since simlock unlocking has become illegal. But you can break your simlock through WotanServer, Omnius or some local shops.
Q14: Can you tell me how does thanks meter increases with regard to number of thanks?
A:No. of Thanks and meter:

Q15: What are BB Codes and what BB Codes can I use in my thread?
A: Mainly every kind of text formatting that we do in XDA thread is governed by BB codes. Here is the list of all the BB Codes we can use in XDA and explanation of each code.
Q16: Is there anyway to mount my sd-card using CWM recovery?
A: Yes! Many versions of CWM support mounting sd-card through it. For that go to Mounts and Storage->Mount sd-card and you're done! But remember if you press back button then your sd-card will unmount instantly.

I need 12.0.a.2.254 for c5302. Can i get the link to download the ftf file?
hi. i just bough my xperia sp last week. i have a very noob question since im all new to these: will this rooting method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440375 (doomlord's method) work on a stock xperia sp? (literally out of the box, with the latest firmware v.254). thanks a lot. im quite undecided if im gonna root mine cause im afraid ill brick it.
Unlocking No or Yes?
I have a question: in my fisrt attempt to unlock bootloader, on the step to confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader, the configuration "Bootloader unlock allowed" sayd "No". So, i´ve flashed the newest firmware for C5303 (2.254) and now, the configuration "Bootloader unlock allowed" said "Yes". It´s "YES" really? Or am i risking to brick my phone on unlocking bootloader? (Sorry my bad english)
DELETED. Worked it out myself

Hi Guys.
Sorry for the newbie question, but I didn´t find the answer...
If I follow the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440375) to root my phone I will loose my data and configurations?
It is necessary to make the Wipes?
My phone was with firmware 211 and I had done the root successfully, but he upgraded to 254 and lost the root. When I open the SuperSU it presents the message that the binaries are not installed. Is it really necessary to do this procedure or is there another way to retrieve the binaries SuperSU.
Thanks,
Rafael

Hello
I don't think there is any wipe needed in this method.
If you really don't want to setup your whole phone again, try without any wipe. In the worst case you might get some force close. Do some backups anyway before trying to root because you might loose data accidentally. It sometimes happen and more often when you try to tweak / root your phone.

Even if you are rooted you can still flash an official ftf (for example official 4.3 when it's available). You might need to use flashtool instead of pc companion though ( I'm not really sure of that but I think you can easily find more info about that when you need it).
Bootloader unlocking is only to use a custom kernel. It is for example needed if you want to install a ROM based on aosp (pure android) instead of the stock Sony software. You won't need it and you should avoid that if you are not really sure of what you are doing.
Back to your Wi-Fi problem, the fixes available for root user don't really enhance it. They only make it a little more stable. It's not really worth it to root just for that and unless you have lot of free time to spend in this you should wait for version 4.3. There's many chances it will be fixed.

Thank you for giving the valuable information about the getting back with original ROM.
I also wanted to know, what'd be happen when Sony originally release there stock version (4.3 or 4.4 whichever come first for SP)?
Now i know the answer, that, i can get back with my Official STOCK ROM which i backed up at very first as a .tft file.
thank you very much
keep going, guys!!

No, but we get sick and tired of people asking the same questions over and over again because they are too lazy to actually put the effort in to searching and reading properly
Also, don't 'bump' your own thread within 24 hours - read the rules if you're not sure why.

That's the whole idea of a Q&A.. With every new (original) question the knowledge database grows. This allows other people to just search through the threads to find their answer. It's actually an easier way to find answers then creating a new thread, since you don't have to wait for reactions and usually the follow up questions are already elaborately discussed..
On topic: I believe some superusers have an option to unroot? And otherwise just reflashing stock is just as easy.

On topic: I believe some superusers have an option to unroot? And otherwise just reflashing stock is just as easy.

Alright then i renamed the thread. Because my question is about walkaround reflashing and unlocking bootloader.
Is it possible simply to root and unroot without reflashing and unlocking ?
When you root phone your root file is on system partition and you need to format it If you want to remove root.Hard reset don't format partition so that won't work.Update software should work but I am not sure.SuperS have ability to remove itself so if you root your phone with it you can done it fastest way. Also don't be smartass and mock people who are telling you to search for answer before posting topic and asking for help.It I is not polite. After all you are asking for help from us not the way around.

on topic: So i am on latest 4.1.2 if i force the support tool (from LG) will it reflash the phone with stock frimware after root ?
As i remember i read somewhere that actually it is possible to use some kind of "upgrade recovery" option with this tool which reflash phone.
off topic: Im not playing it smartass i've searched and couldn't find what i need to know. then i posted this thread.
So maybe someone should check if a thread exist actually without beign too lazy. before saying that he's sick of people.
And also renamed my thread to be more suitable to people who will be searching.

You did NOT search!! Put the word "unroot" into Q&A forum search box and you get 60 hits, at least 5 of which on the first page give the answer.

simon its too late mate... i renamed my thread alredy and i think you did not read that its about walkaound flashing and unlocking.
@tuncay93 in LG update tool should be option "force update" or something like that.BTW I think easiest method is just to flesh.dz file since it will format system partition for sure and you need only drivers that you must install even if you want to update regularly your software.Download SuperSu it should replace your current root app and then from SuperSu choose "remove SuperSu" .That is all I can think off.

What is "[Q]Walkaround flashing and ulocking bootloader for Root>Unroot" supposed to mean? I walk around with my phone while I do it?
Changing the title of the thread doesn't change your laziness or your attitude.

Really? Simon is a long time member and he know what he's talking about. He might sound a bit mean sometimes but he's right!
I for myself created like one thread asking a question and the other things I sorted out myself with brief searching, reading and trying.
This question here has been answered already.
You're asking how to unroot without flashing back the stock ROM or unlocking bootloader.
It has been answered in this thread as well and a search (not just on XDA but on Google as well) would've get you to the same answers.
Simon can't tell you where to post and where not but he does as he is trying to get newer or ignorant XDA members to follow the rules.
And one of those rules is to search.
Not just a five minute look but a brief search even in related threads etc.
You won't learn anything by just asking and asking again but by trying and figuring out yourself.
So please do us a favor and stop posting unnecessary questions.
@laufersteppenwolf
I think this has gone way too far.
I know you're in hospital as far as I remember but maybe you can clean this thread if you get time to do so.
Thanks

1.By the first few words you said i suspect that you define the pople by their registration date at XDA.
2. I didn't found answer to my question thats why i made thread. [Ans. It is actually possible SuperSu will remove root [not sure what kind of remove but still....[ Flashing with support tool is the way but is still flashing]
3. I am not ignorant and new at XDA. I am new to 4x HD section. Also without reading and asking you can't learn anything. Thats the point of the forum.
4. And i think it was necessary question. Since i've searched and couldn't find what i needed to know.
Finding related threads about "How to root", "How to unroot" all say just unlock reflash and relock. Why ? I've just find out today that i can simply run support tool and all will be fine. (Also mine is 446-92 FW I'm not sure if relockable yet.)
Also that standing behind someone just because he says few words that he has read at "Rules" In wrong place....
And just because its old member it's not cool mate im sorry but thats what i think.
Now if moderators think this is unnecesery thread can remove it.

Ye thats what i find out today theres walkaround for flashing and unlocking bootloader.
In lg support tool click options then upgrade recovery and you are good to go for warranty or whatever you need it for.

Let's get behind this rules etc thing but if you'd read more about root function and flashing a stock firmware you would've know that root is installed in system and that a simple reflash unroots your system.
That's what I mean with reading and understanding the way your modified android device works.
I don't know if it's just me but I did know nearly everything about root before even bothering to root my device just in case if something goes wrong I exactly know what to do.
The answers are out there. Most questions can be solved by searching but many users don't do it or they don't have enough knowledge of Android to understand the given output of their searches.
And no I don't define people by their registration date but by the way they post on XDA.
And I'm not supporting Simon because he has said a few words about rules. I'm supporting him because he's been a long time member and follows the rules.
And sorry but if somebody is criticizing your thread in a forum like XDA and you're responding with "STFU" shows me that you're ignorant and lacking respect.
The fact that Simon is doing this is to keep people from posting 10 threads about the same question (like they tend to do) but search and know what they are doing.
The problem with the community is that most new users just follow tutorials but don't know what to do if something goes wrong (and believe me there always will be something that goes wrong) and then they create threads like "help I bricked my 4X HD".
Like I said if you'd know what rooting actually does inside your device you'd know what to do with information you get when you search for unroot.
Let's assume you are a new user and you now install SuperSU and somehow it messes something up.
What will you do? Do you know enough to mess with an android device? I really don't want you to take it personal but that's the way you should think about it.
And I have one question: Why do you want to unroot your device without reflashing stock firmware and think that unlocking boot loader would be necessary to unroot?
(and just one hint: it's not "walkaround" but workaround what you mean I guess)

Okey I know what Root is. I have been rooting and unlocking all my phones i've used to switch roms. (I know that reflashing is the solution)
But the problem is as i said my 4x HD isn't EUR-XXX it's 446-92 (Asian one i suspect)
So unlocking is possible but couldn't really find info about relocking.
And i was in need of workaround as you said (My english is not good) Because my power button its not responsive and the phone still has warranty and that button its going to brick it keeps going more and more unresponsive.
So i didn't wanted to unlock and reflash because i may void my warranty in that case i still need it.

You don't need to unlock anything in order to reflash the stock firmware with LG Support Tool.
That's what I was talking about. You don't know this because you didn't read enough about this device.
And about your warranty: if you'd search in that topic you may acknowledge that rooting doesn't void your warranty in most places as long as the failure (in your case the power button) isn't related to the slight software modification.

Ye but i know here in my country all warranty providers are just looking for something that may void it and just root will void it i am sure.
But never thought support tool works after rooting or modification on software. i did not even think about searching for that you are right now.
Hello guys. I'm new to the community, but I did my homework and I can honestly say I've spent a good +40 hours on this site in the past month, and it paid off since I'm now the proud owner of a rooted Xperia Z1 running 4.4.2 KitKat with XZdualrecovery which is something I tought I would never do out of fear of bricking my device and the lack of information and support for my rather "slightly rare" C6906 model with annoyances like a non-unlockable bootloader , where the C6903 and C6902 models get all the attention. Anyway guys, I rooted my phone, awesome...but for me, the next step is installing a custom rom, because I feel that the stock xperia Z1 firmware is not enough for my customizing needs, plus I also envy the stock like experience it provides, even more than my Z1. I read up on a few guides for installing cyanogenmod on the Z1, but they all seem to be only supported for the C6903 and C6902 models. Plus, it doesn't help to motivate myself knowing that my C6906 model still has a locked bootloader (apparently) and I've read unlocking the bootloader is a requirement for installing custom ROMs. So, my questions are:
Is XZDualRecovery enough to install custom ROMs? Specially the version with the locked bootloader? Could I run into any issues?
If the answer to the previous question is yes, Are there any good guides concerning the C6906 model on how to install custom roms? (Or more importantly, cyanogenmod? [preferably versions that have been tested on the C6906])
You cannot install anything like Cyanogenmod as it needs an unlocked bootloader
You can install any rom from the development section, just follow the locked bootloader instructions
Now that you have recovery, make a backup and follow the instructions in the thread.
Thanks!

Thank you! You saved me a lot of time so I can stop searching for a way to install CM. I will look into the development section them. Any recommendations on what's a good/stable/popular ROM I can install then?

No, and xda mods don't like that question being asked. Best ROM and asking for best ROM threads get closed quickly. Here is why..
If you ask someone which pizza they should buy then people give their own favourites as a recommendation. I like hot, spicy and meaty ones, but if recommend that to you may say "That's disgusting!" you may be one of those people who like anchovies and sweetcorn on their pizza. That may be perfect for you, but I will hate it
In short, you have to try them yourself and see which one suits you best. One bit of advice though, even if someone recommends a ROM to you, its no guarantee you will like it.
Part of the appeal of android is that we can customise so much, so try, test for a week (It takes that long to get an idea of performance and battery) then move on and try another.
Once you have done that, flash your favourite.
