Nexus News/Weather widget problem...

I love this widget, best news widgets I've used. I love how it scrolls through all the top news stories, the problem is the scrolling doesn't continue if the phone goes to sleep. I dont know if its normal or not. Anyone here using this widget and having the same issue? After I re-add the widget to the homescreen or if I restart Launcher Pro it scrolls beautifully, then the phone goes to sleep and just stays on one news story after I wake it up.

I didn't know that the widget allowed you to scroll.

The auto scrolling of the news topic, not physical scrolling. Sorry for the confusion.

Probably your WiFi disconnects, when your phone goes to sleep..then no more news can be loaded.

Anyway to fix that?

do u mean that the scrolling stops after u wake the phone up or that it isnt scrolling when its asleep?
to check wifi settings->wireless and networks -> wifi settings -> press the settings key on the phone -> advanced -> wifi sleep policy

Ive tried on wifi and on 3g and still the same.

Exact same problem here (but on EVO), totally unable to resolve it. Please post if anyone finds a solution.

Same problem on my galaxy s. The news stop rolling after the screen is turned off... I use the transparent one. Pls if anyone can find a solution pls post it cause i love this widget...

Yes it is, i'm not allowed to post link although the .apk has been posted in the XDA forums. Just google geniewidget.apk and you'll find it.
I use it on my galaxy s, with the aforementioned problems.

i just found it and installed it
works like a charm, except, because the default language (and only available) of my device is english, i can t get french news like i use to have on nexus.
any idea if i can force it somewhere?

Maybe if you give a french key word on the custom topic tab, it will search for french news.give it a try.

Too bad about the scrolling. Let the dev know.
For weather I use Snowstorm. Shows the weather wherever I am for the next 24 hours in 6 hour icons. Perfect, although must be installed internally or the widget is lost by Android.

PS: I have the same problem with the News widget by htc

Do you know who the developer is and his contact details maybe. I did a brief search but no success...

this one did not work better on my SGS and it's not the tranparent version as well.

I don't have this problem. Try to clear the app data under settings/applications/manage

I've already tried this but no result. But today i found what's the cause of the problem.I have flyscreen installed and i use it as an locksreen replacement. So whenever the screen unlocks without passing through sgs's default locksreen it stucks! Strange thing but true! When i deactivate the option to replace lockscreen everything works like a charm.

I wonder how to block some pictures/folders in my Gallery which is not taken by me.
There is different folders/pictures cames from blinkfeed or facebook.
i dont want to see this pics,
Any solution_?

Hide the folder..
Or put a empty text file in the folder with the name - ".nomedia.txt"
Dot in the strt iz imp...

Cool, i found a method but root access was required. Now my gallery only shows 'My photos' and 'camera shots'.

You must be rooted and have a deodexed ROM though... If not then you'll break your gallery app.

on the top you will have a bar (down arrow, i cannot remember) click their
you have option check albums over their ( the arrangement will change)
now click menu button and select show hide album
their you are
chose what is to be shown and what not
P.S you do not have to be rooted

shrex thanx for your attention .
but when i open Gallerry and push the ... button there is just "add online service" , "media servers" and "Tips&Helps" exist.
thats why i ca hide nothing.
when i join my photos and push the ... button there is "hide/show" albums.
the problem is on the Gallery floor.
there is lots of Facebook , Friends pictures.
i just want my photos and camera shoots.

I don't think the others understand exactly what you're asking...
Here's the link to my post where I asked the same question last week - the method with ES Explorer works 100%, I'm using it now - but root access and system write is required. I'm unsure about the 'engine freeze' method in Titanium Backup in one of the comments, so you could try that...

There's always pressing the menu in gallery main screen -> add online service -> disable Facebook. But that logs you out of Facebook and puts the pictures back once you log back in again...

but normally we could do this without anything.why htc didnt support it

Press back to go to the gallery homescreen. Do you still have all the facebook and friends pictures there along with 'camera shots' and 'my photos'?

I see what you mean. I never noticed it before. I think these photos are stored online, so they don't take up phone storage (except for the first picture used in the gallery). So I really don't mind it myself.

@stevedebi i guess storage keeps as thumbnail.In all case its not pretty to see someone elses pics in my Gallery when i get in there.

Blinkfeed and Facebook

When I clicked on a facebook post on my blinkfeed, it would open up facebook to that specific post. Ever since the last facebook update, when I click on a facebook post on my blinkfeed it just opens facebook, doesn't take me to that post. I reset my facebook app and same thing. Just wanted to know if other people are having the same issue?

Yup same problem here, it just takes me to the beginning of newsfeed, doesn't actually take me to the article I clicked on and want to read about, going to look into it.

Best solution at this problem so far:
Keep facebook app open (working on background/tasked) and blinkfeed links should work.

Thanks, that seems to work, but won't that drain the battery faster. Facebook can be a hog.

Facebook Messenger Profile Pictures

Hi to all, I've bought this wonderful X2 from India and I've seen a strange problem, in Facebook messenger the profile pictures of the contact are blank, if someone of my contacts send me a message i've seen the notification "ball" completely blank. Someone has faced the same problem? How can I fix this? Thanks!

it's a net speed problem...download internet speed meter and see ho much ur internet speed

I've spent these last 3 days trying to discover the reason. It seems to be a problem of the update available in Nokia Store because if I configure the Messenger version that I've got after resetting to factory settings, it works and load all images including my profile image, if i update it starts to having the problem I say...

I use Messenger version 9.0.0.15.17 on my Nokia X2 & it works fine

ihave weird problem with facebook app theres alway bar on top of my keyboard whe i try to write comment in facebook this bar have mention to my friends ihave chat with them on messenger at begin ithought it feature but ihave log in from other mobile its not happend is that normal or what ?

Isn't that just the "suggest contacts" option in google keyboard (under the Text Correction option in Settings)? You can turn it off if you like.
