[Q] mobile network not vailable ... help needed !!! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
i upgraded my phone to 4.2 jelly bean slim rom . calling and other things were fine . but from tommorrow i am facing this problem.
in settings=>about phone=>status it's showing my network name and signal strength-64dBm 25 asu . my network is not 3g or 4g .
but my signals are white ( no signals but sim present and detectable) cant call . whenever i try it says "mobile network not available".
after this i checked my sim in other phone . it is working fine.
i put sim from some other network in my sgs but same problem
i flashed the same rom to fix it but no good
i flashed back my ics rom , no good
i did factory reset , but problem is still
i am using this phone for past 2 years and this problem never occoured.
PLEASE HELP ME .

there is some problem with the 4.2 rom or whatever, but you easily fix the calling part by installing another modem.
in my case I can't get the sms to get working, tried 3 modems already.. everything else is super fine.

I had a similar problem where I had no reception! Easy fix though
1. Find online your specific carrier ROM for the phone, (eg. AT&T SGS1 ROM) and flash it, firmware can be what ever (gingerbread, eclair, ICS)
2. Flash your carrier ROM, you may not pass boot screen but that's alright because the carrier ROM still embeds all carrier info.
3 Now re flash your jb ROM and enjoy
Hopefully this helped you out

See how your IMEI is now something like 00499....? The phone's generated a fake IMEI (which allows you to use the telephony functions such as data, SMS etc) because its lost the real one.
1.) Go back to a stock 2.3.6 rom using Odin. Your IMEI should be back to what it was, but check it just to make sure. However if you're able to send texts/make calls/use data again, your IMEI's been restored.
2.) Root it again.
3.) Flash in CM9 first (do the standard wipe data/cache/Dalvik). Let CM9 boot. To upgrade to Jelly Bean from Gingerbread, you need to flash in ICS (CM9) first to preserve the IMEI. Once CM9 has booted (you don't need to stay on it for too long), if you see that you're getting signal, you're all goods. But check your IMEI just in case you want to be sure it worked.
4.) Back into recovery. Wipe combo (data/cache/Dalvik) again just in case. Install Slim Bean from there.
5.) Once it boots, you should be getting signal as usual. Once again though, if you really want to make sure, check your IMEI.

Well i'm from Algeria and i'm using the rom now , i can't seem to find the right Modem for my phone , can u plz show me which one to use ?
And also , there was another problem , when the phone is left without being touched and goes to standby mod it freezes then reboots !
Did you try reinstalling the ROM?
It could be the modem like Slaphead said.
Also could be that your IMEI number got scrambled. I know some ICS roms had problems with this. Try the search function there are bound to be some threads about this!
Good luck!
Try to reboot and see if it solves the prob.it usually does.
Or shut the phone off and pull battery for a 30 sec and boot up
Rebooted and took the battery off and did every thing i know to fix it but nothing seems to work, though i didn't flash an ICS Modem .. i just flashed the rom and Gaps as said in the tutorial. i also backed-up my /efs folder.
Note : After Going back to Stock GB 2.3.6 Value Pack the signal is back full and everything works well..
have you tried reverting back to the firmware you were using earlier?

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S i9000: No Data Network after updating to Jelly Bean 4.2.2

After updating my phone to the latest OS (Jelly Bean 4.2.2), everything was fine, but then all of a sudden I couldn't access the internet. I have tried several different APN settings and even flashed several other roms. I contacted my service provider (giffgaff) but they said there may be something wrong with my phone. I can send and receive calls and texts but just can't access the internet. I downloaded an app of Google Play which showed that my 'Data Activity' was either 'no activity or 'upload activity', however it still said that I was connected to my data. Can anyone offer any help or advice?
same happened to me i flashed darkyrom 10.2 re it seemed to work until i tried to connect to google play and i lost data and network changed from 3 to orange its doin my head in gona try a stock rom see if that helps if not it may be the sim card wife wouldnt let me try hers incase i wrecked hers also hahaha will let you know
I think that if u reflash it by 2.3.6 JVU firmweare will solve ur probléme and then u can update to 4.2.2. Good luck

No don't reflash lol
You just need to put in the APN information for your network manually in settings.

Try to switch airplane mode on and off, then check the APN's and maybe you need to add your APN but that depends on your provider. This always works for me.
the best reason why it happen because the ROM or FIRMWARE that you installed in your samsung galaxy s is not compatible some firmware and roms are only allowed in a specific country because it contains MODEM that makes your cellphone to have a signal on what country you are in OR the Samsung Galaxy S that you have is only for certain country only like my Samsung Galaxy S SC-02B which is NTTDocomo which has 2.2 froyo firmware when i upgrade it to higher firmware such like jellybean or icecream it successfully upgraded but you cant use the cellphone 100% since the signal will lost because your IMEI is fake or your IMEI is none. check your back of your samsung to check the right IMEI.
SOLUTION:
downgrade your phone back to its original firmware and rom make sure it is the original!
and you will see it will back to its default settings your signal is back so as your IMEI
what i did
1 flashed darkyrom 10.2re downloaded apn tweaker from market
2 flashed alliancerom jw4
3 then j w8
all working good

[Q] Can't connect to mobile network

Hello,
I've got a Galaxy Note, which a mate gave to me, because he has the new Note 2 now.
He said that he has some network problems (he has two times vodafone.cz), but didn't say anything in detail. So I thought the problem would be solved with flashing another rom, like CM 9.1. He already had the stock 4.0.4 and I read that I have to flash back to GB before flashing to CM 9.1.
At first I made a backup of the efs folder with kTool. After that I flashed the LC1 version of GB (3 parts, open Europe) but with this flashing process, I lost my IMEI ! So I wanted to restore the efs folder with kTool again, but it didn't work for me, I still had no IMEI.
I thought that the structure of the efs folder could have changed from 3.6 to 4.0.4 and that this would be the reason why I can't restore the efs folder. Therefore I flashed back to a Samsung stock rom of Android 4.0.4 (N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_DBT).
And then the surprise: I had my IMEI back, without restoring the efs folder!
This just was the background. Now to my problem: I still can't connect to the mobile network. In the notification bar is written "emergency calls only" (I don't know if it is translated on the right way, because I'm from germany). If I go to the network settings and search for mobile networks, I find all the networks I reach in my area, o2-de as well, which is my favourite network. But if I want to register to the network, it takes a while and then it says: Registration failed. And after that, I also can't make emergency calls, there is written "No service"
All in all my question is: Why am I able to find networks, but can't register to my one? I also tested it with other SIM-cards from other providers, but it still does not work..
I hope anyone of you has a solution for my issue.
greetings
Senfy
Edit: My IMEI begins with 359, so it should not be a developer IMEI
May be it has network lock. Have you tried apps like galaxy s unlock from the play store.
I tested it now, but everytime I want to unlock my phone, I loose my IMEI and I have to restore the efs folder..
But if I open Galaxsim Unlock, it says my device isn't locked.. so this seems to be not the solution..
Now I flashed to CM 9.1 with the hope to solve this problem.. CM 9.1 works, but I still can not register to my network... has anyone another idea how to solve this problem ??
Are you check an eyes in code or test menu ?
Go in dialer and tape
*#0011#
Then use menu and back in menu to come on general and check in different menu(debug)
I'm sorry I don't understand you. If I dial this code nothing happens. I also searched for this code (google) but without any result.
maybe you could post a link with an exact description how to do what you mean..
But thanks for your effort.
Now I wanted to flash another modem.. but everytime I want to flash it, I lose my IMEI !
The only way to get my IMEI back is to flash back to N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_DBT ...
I don't know what to do next.. I would be glad if someone could help me..
Edit: What I forgot to tell you: The reception of emergency calls goes up and down over the time.. maybe someone of you can conclude anything out of this information..
Doesn't anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?
how are you flashing the modem? tried mobile odin?
I flashed the whole GB (3 parts) with PC Odin and the actuall modem with mobile Odin but with no success..
Where is da solution 2 no network after update

Yes i check the APN and all is OK!when i have turned on 3g i have signal only when i turn off 3g i lost signal
Could be that your area signal isnt that great on 2G network when 3G is off.. try another modem
hello i had issues last week i lost data connection i flashed all different roms trying to fix it ,i think its sorted now i flashed XXJVU stock rom then darky 10.2 re then i flashed cm9 then darky v11 then cm10 then thinkbridge 4.2.2 working well so far if its just your signal try 10. 2 re first

I am using Hong Kong Modem and I am in the UK with Full Signal and better performance
All Modems will give a signal ..but depends on area that you are in
Flash 2.3.6. Then Root it ...this will put all files back to the way they where..
In your APN settings scroll down to the Authentication Type and make it PAP if its Default for both ..reboot phone if that helps

[Q] 4g problem i9305

Can somebody help me with this 4g problem?
This is what i did:
1.flashed custom ROM (worked like a charm,i did nandroid backup)
2.flashed other custom ROM (didnt like it so I restored the first one from nandroid)
3.everything went well except no imei and no baseband
4.reverted back to stock rom with odin
5.and here is the problem,no 4g signal at all. 3g/2g works fine.
If I post my build.prop can somebody tell me whats wrong?
I have tried to put my sim card in other phone and it works but not in my phone.
Did you enable 4G in Settings?
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, I did...network mode is set to LTE
Is there a test that I can use to test is it a software or hardware issue?
Maybe an issue of Stock rom you flashed using odin.. Which one exactly have yoi flashed? What modem you have now? And finally, is your S3 i9305 or some i9305T variant?
Check this out:
Typ *#*#4636#*#* and goto Netinformation, then you will find a special-setup for the 2G 3G & 4G.
Sorry about my english. Cause i am german.

Thanks for your replies,I flashed stock german 4.4.4 from sammobile. It worked very good about 2 months.
I think that modem is xxufoa1 and version of phone is i9305 lte international.
If somebody could help me with this issue,I would appreciate that. But no hurries,I got new playmate S6 edge...
try doing a complete wipe of data and cache, then flash stock rom again to see if problem persists
I have tried many times but no help...
Hey, try flashing the parambin.zip file (look for it on google related to s3 lte, you'll find it easily). Another thing to try is just wait with the phone turned on with a valid SIM. I found out that sometimes it delayed a lot to get signal, specially when changing SIM carriers on another country. After a while waiting it finally succeeded (probably unrelated but I also saw on the catlog entries about upgrading the sahara file of the qualcomm chip -the modem-).
