Hi Everyone,
I recently updated my stock version of w8 i.e. 2.1 to GingerDx V 0.22 by doixanh and works everything fine for me.
Also, installed the addons supplied in (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188486) which contains AnDyX's Dualtouch for Cypress, AnDyX's smartass governor, ext3/4, X8Gesture, X8MDDI, X8UV.
i am able to get pinch to zoom but i am not sure if it is fake pinch to zoom or the real one because i read on of the posts and it was written that if the phone support Cypress digitizer then i phone can have a real dual touch. I also followed the steps given there and found out that my phone supports it but how can I get a real dual touch?
Also in the cyanogen settings/ performance/ cpu settings how can i set min CPU and max CPU frequency as per my choice as no option is available. I mean to say how can I overclock my CPU.
Also i want to know that CPU is Undervolted or not?
I am also attaching the screenshot of my kernel version and other information of Ginger DX.
And at last i want to know if my phone has alfs kernel or not? If not, what is the next step to get that?
Thanks in advance
A'ight, your phone has stock kernel, to overclock, just copy the overclock module to system/lib/modules, so that there will be options to set min and max freq. Atlast, if you have fake dual touch, there is NO way to make it "real dual touch"; except replace the digitizer with cypress.
Cheers.

YOU need to unlock your boot loader in order to use a custom kernel, so your first step to installing alfs or any other custom kernel is unlocking your boot loader

Take out tthe battery from your phone and read the sticker under it.
It should have a line with 11Wxx
Post here what yours says. If it's 11W29 or newer then DO NOT attempt to unlock your bootloader.

Full wipe from recovery?
Have you tried flashing the overclock module for stock kernel provided on the forum?
Sometimes, custom roms needs to be rebooted if you experience slowness over time.

Hello There!
So i just got my new xperia Z from my company and it is for two years and i had to pay for it anyway.
I have choosen this one cause i knew its a good phone and have loads of devs, and i didnt check if there is any aosp for locked bootloader i was sure, and i thought i can unlock mine anyway.
I was about to unlock my bootloader and i saw i cant do it i googled for 3-4 hours , and there is no way to unlock it even if you pay for it or something.(T-mobile hungary )
At the moment there is no AOSP rom for locked bootloader.
Here is my question : Sony updates this phone really fast, almost as AOSP or 1-2 months i see some good devs making sony custom roms for our device, Can any of you make AOSP only pure cyanogenmod thaths all i need. I'm Sick of the bloatware that sony has in their roms.
I just boot up my phone and half the memory gone.
Are the sony built kernels and custom roms kernels so different? Is it ompossible to make an AOSP rom ?
I would love to see one , i will definately use it and test it for bugs.
I know **** about android development (or any other) but i will get into because i dont want to use ****ty sony roms for 2 years
Cheers!
Viktor
There is no way to get AOSP on a locked device. Is not only that the kernels are different, but the thing is locked bootloaders only run signed Sony kernel.
If memory is your main concern, flash a debloated, stripped down version of Sony's roms.

yea but we should build an aosp rom for the sony kernel or is it that hard?
in theory its very possible but what will you really gain?
You will have to use pretty much all original binary blobs, and will end up with some framework changes.
is there anything specific in an aosp build that you want?
the Z has one of the most closest none GPE roms around as it is..
as others have said why not just debloat or install a debloated rom?

I've mentioned this before but it never went anywhere, if Sony's AOSP kernel is signed then what stops it being put in an ftf to be flashed, and if that was possible would that not open the way to getting locked down bootloaders unlocked?

It looks to me that Sony haven't provided anything for the AOSP kernel but the sources via their AOSP website (I could be wrong, but I don't see any kernel images on their github, only sources).
In that case, anyone wanting to use it has to build it themselves, therefore it will have to be signed by whoever builds it.
So, if everything I said is correct, then it's no use for getting this running on locked bootloaders.

Agreed. Now if we could figure out the Sony keys, or someone leaks them, it is a different story.

I think either situation is highly unlikely.
I don't think it's at all possible to "figure out" keys. If it was, the security wouldn't be very.....secure.
As for leaks from Sony, has this ever happened, for any device in their history?

No I don't think it has. You never know when someone might make a mistake, but I'd agree it isn't something to hold out hope for. Kexec or similar is the best bet, otherwise no AOSP for the locked bootloaders!

My Xperia Z with 100% stock firmware and lots of extra apps only has 1 GB of RAM in use. That's the advantage of having 2 GB of RAM, you don't have to worry about memory usage. So just chill out and enjoy your awesome phone
AOSP would ruin a lot of the nice features and design of this phone anyway.

yea and there were good working stock based roms, even dualboot etc with locked bootloader. but here somebody said it before no dev will bother about locked bootloaders if the device can be unlocked for the 70% of the Z users, and razr couldn't be unlocked.
anyway monixified is a great rom its fast and etc but i miss cyanogenmod features like theme chooser and nice weather on the lockscreen
so anyone doing this? or nope?
well you can always remove them yourself with titanium or a root file browser ? remember to backup rom/apps first, as there can be consequences from removing system apps.. alternately try googling for sony stock sys apps that are safe to remove
I have C6903 .757 rooted using [NUT] way, is it worth to unlock my bootloader now, what I can get and what I will lost? beside thatis there any custom rom that better than stock rom for now?
IMHO not worth it. Keep your X-Reality and BIONZ and other Sony exclusive software. I hate buggy camera and sleep-of-death issues, so I keep my Z1 on 4.3
But keep an eye on this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714333

Sony stock ROM is the best
Except you don't want Sony UI,then you can unlock bootloader & flash CM11
You will lost DRM keys if you didn't backup,X-Reality won't work for Pictures & Movies
No feature will disappear from unlocking the bootloader. Stated by Sony themselves. Before 4.3 stuff did happen though.

Pre 4.3 this was the fact. Camera ceased to work and other functions aswell. The DRM keys did matter there. The tech guy from Sony also confirmed this.
Kitkat version though this is all fixed. And like he said to quote him "Nothing will change software wise with just unlocking a bootloader under Kitkat, aslong as you dont flash custom roms ofc."
So to translate this: The DRM keys aint used in KitKat. And it is very easy to confirm this yourself. Google the functions that people say will stop to work with no DRM keys. None of thoose has stopped to work with unlocked bootloader for me on KitKat 4.4.2.
And for the camera, the camera working worse under KitKat as you also can google and find information about. Unlocked as Locked doesent matter, and this is possibly one of the reasons why ppl still think, Bionz, X-Reality and other functions stop to work with unlocked bootloader.
But is it worth it? Well that is up for anyone to decide for themselves. Since KitKat, the phone aint working so well anyway imo. So if it would die on me i wouldnt care. I will probably not buy Sony in future though, they used to be good but something has happened.
For real?

Now I'm curious:
How, where or why are custom ROMS faster than stock ROMS?
I really can't complain about the speed of my stock. I haven't unlocked my bl yet (no need for) but I doubt you'd see much difference in speed between stock und cfw.
It was different on my sxs. Latest aosp or fxp was definitely more fluid but the z1 is a powerhouse.

Nobody said they are more faster, they are tweeked but at the moment on Z1 they are in development so before see a wonderfull stable Custom Roms you have to wait.
BTW, many Custom Roms are based on Stock Kernel so you will never see any difference. The heart of the tweekness and fastness on Android it's the Kernel, it's the main reason.

You can install CyanogenMod if your bootloader is unlocked. If you do that you will lose all your data and warranty but I think its worth it. You will have more control over your phone (privacy settings etc) and much more.
If you want to do that you should do a nandroid backup before and most important a TA backup. TA backup is for relock the bootloader if necessary (so you have warranty again). You can find TA backup tool in this forum, just search for it.

Unlocking the BL is for rom development mainly. You will be able to load CM11, but so what. The stock rom is excellent for most people and its nowdays to tweak the interface in so many ways its silly.
As the title says, is this phone really worth buying? Or can this phone be comparable with iPhone 5? Well, since I already have an Android device which was Sammy Galaxy Mini, which I rooted in like one click on my PC. Well I read that for Xperia devices I need to unlock the bootloader, is that procedure hard or do I risk bricking the SP? And is flashing CWM/TWRP hard using Sonys "Flashtool" ? Well thanks to evryone who answers And btw. how much is CM11 buggy?
For the comparing part I can't say anything
But for CM 11, its not buggy and can be used as a daily driver

It's easy to unlock your boot loader, but you do not need to do it to get root, there are also recoveries for locked boot loaders. When you unlock your boot loader you lose the TA partition which is needed by Bravia Engine and other things, so you should root and backup TA before unlocking the boot loader.
