Bootloader (Twrp won't flash things) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there, having trouble flashing roms with trwp 2.3.4 getting error 7.
So I was wondering how do I get into the bootloader or ADB mode when I only have access to twrp?
Want to flash Clockworkmod or a newer version of trwp but can't .
Very frustrating, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which kernel are you on ?
Just flash a stock cm10.1 kernel & reboot to recovery. Then flash whatever you want.

The note is unique as this is all built into the kernel... So flash a new kernel you get a recovery with it... Don't push anything with Adb...if you must use PC Odin

Think I'm on hydracore at the moment, that's what I tried over odin anyway.
Thing is I'm getting efs mount errors when I try and flash my previous rom (alliance v3)
Thanks though, i'll try flashing some different kernel.
Wooo, seems flashing hydracore from odin failed, manually flashing hydracore worked a charm on CWM 6 now and just flashed without any errors.
Thank you very much chaps!
(Although Rom won't boot, is there any additional steps to flashing roms with the note, don't have to do any boot.img stuff right?

Did you wipe ? Make sure you're on safe kernel.

I had the same !
When you want to flash sth, just uncheck that two thing above "slide to flash"

[Q] Bootloop after flashing ROM with CWM and I don't understand why

Hi
I'm having a problem with the i9000
this is how the phone was before:
rooted stock firmware (2.3.3) with Galaxian Kernel (used ODIN to install that)
then I downloaded ROM Manager and used that to flash the latest CWM
next: rebooted to recovery, made a nandroid backup and flashed AOKP milestone 4 and GAPPS
when I rebooted it got into bootloop: boot logo, cyanogenmod logo, black screen with white text and reboot
then I tried to restore the nandroid backup (can still get into CWM)
now it's stuck at Loading kernel...
I can still get into CWM. Can somebody tell me what I did wrong and how I should fix this?
Boot to cwm, FLASH kernel with ICS support like - Semaphore. Reflash ROM, if still in boot loop flash kernel again ;-). It should work ;-)

Did that, but instead of booting the ROM it immediately boots to recovery. Flashed the kernel with ODIN and the ROM with CWM
Flash the kernel via CWM, the semaphore!! not the galaxian, the galaxian is for 2.3.3!

yes, working with the semaphore now
but it should be flashed with CWM, not ODIN?
Okey, try to flash the ROM again, than again the kernel ;-) Everything via CWM, i think ODIN is bit risky to use, cause of possible USB fail ;-) (sorry for slover responses i don't have verified account )

Oh and BTW i hope, that you did not forget to wipe - data, cache and dalvik cache?

[Q] What`s the correct kernel to my device??

Hi guys. I have a I9000 and i want to install the CyanogenMod 9 on it. I`ve Already rooted my phone using the Unlock Root. However, I can`t go to the Clockworkmod recovery to install customs rooms. I tried to flash the CWM recovery using the Rom Manager app, but when i was installing, an error happened. I figured out that the problem is my kernel that is not compatible with the CWM. I know that i have to flash a compatible kernel using Odin, but which kernel should i flash??? My device is a Galaxy S I9000, 2.3.5 android, and 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVT-CL617736 kernel. Already rooted. Please someone could help me??
Thank you so much
Don't use rom manager, use Odin to flash, CWM is bundled with rooted kernel (CF-root, Semaphore)

Hi, I have the same error problem, cf root was not bundled with my own root package. I flashed to gingerbread 2.3.6 xwjw1, I also tried rom manager to flash recovery and it was successful, but when I rebooted to recovery to backup my current rom it bootes to the android (3e) recovery. As I've discovered it seems rom manager is not compatible with the xwjw1 series. How do I get the correct cf root for xwjw1? Believe me I have tried google and am scared of the things I see since "jw1" is not behind any of the cf root packages I see. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On xwjw1 you can Odin flash as PDA Semaphore 250 tar kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14481782
Untick re-partition before flashing.
After reboot you may need to install Superuser from Play Store.
That will give you root, CWM, gingerbread ready for CM9.1

Use Odin to flash (put .tar in PDA and uncheck repartition). You can flash Semaphore JVT 1.8.0 or CF-Root v4.3

Thanks Sunny men, but OT's advice worked, I can now boot to semaphore recovery and wipe etc.
Question though, if I now flash cm9.1 rom, will I be able to boot to recovery without the holding any button combinations. What I mean is can I boot to recovery from the shutdown menu or do I need an app for it?
Also is cm9.1 the best rom for my phone? any thots guys? Thanks again.

Yes, in CM 9.1 you can boot directly to recovery from the shutdown menu. CM 9.1 is very stable and fast, so try it. And when you flash CM9 for the first time, your galaxy will go into a bootloop. Then remove the battery, put it in, go to recovery with 3-button configuration and flash it again.

Thanks sin007, that is invaluable advice. Will do just that. thanks again.
Hi guys, thanks for all the help. I have flashed CM 9.1 successfully.
Everything works OK for now.
Also flashed gapps, CM 9.1 seems to be a great ROM.
I have a question though, the gapps I flashed seems to have only a few Google apps, play store and Google talk. The file size was 49mb so is that all that's in gapps or is there a hidden mode or something.
Also, sin007 I can't find any reboot to recovery from the shutdown menu, though I flashed a stable version of CM 9.1 and not a "nighty version". Could that be the reason? But no biggie, CM 9.1 comes with rom manager.
Finally I wouldn't mind any tips you guys have on making the most out of the ROM.
Thanks and all the best.
Shutdown menu - Reboot - Recovery
OK?
There is an APP on google play, sgs kernel flash, it is easier and faster than Odin. And works perfectly. I've flash the speedmod kernel and finally upgrade to cyanogenmod 9.1.
Anyone knows if this APP works on galaxy s2 (i9100)?
Thankss

No, basically I wanted to start TOTALLY fresh with a new ROM so I went to CWM and formatted EVERYTHING!! I was half asleep when I did it and formatted my SD card (where my ROM was saved lol) I also formatted boot, so I have no recovery anymore either.
What I'm wanting is a custom recovery I can flash using Odin.
So CWM recovery in a .tar format.
Thanks for the help!

You should try to put your Note in download mode and flash a stock rom with Odin.
You must flash the PIT file to repartition your phone's storage, chose the right one (16 or 32 Gb).
I am almost sure that your phone is soft bricked and it is recoverable.
If it don't work, thant mean that your have bad blocks in your phone's storage. Have you wiped your note while under ICS android ?
what rom were you on? if JB, try a factory reset.

I currently have an imei but it is some random number starting with "004999" and I do get signals but cant make a call .. Do you know if there is some hope for me or not .. and what else I can try.
This is the developer imei. You may be able to make calls of you try a GB rom. Or there is one rom by ThaiDai which had some work around built into it. I don't know which one.
Else the site I mentioned earlier has contact info of cvxcvx. He can fix your phone remotely but by charging about 10 euros.
Need help for a bricked N7000
Hi guys,Im a complete newbie to the whole custom rom scenario. Yet, after being fed up of touchwiz on my N7000 i decided i wanted to taste some KitKat on my phone. After seeing many videos with positive reviews I thought it would be a rather easy process. But somehow I seem to have made a mistake and now my phone is stuck on Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 logo. I cant get into recovery mode as suggested on most places. As of now I only have access to the download mode but dont know what to do with it.
Here's what I tried doing :
1) I was on stock OS, and these are my specifics : Galaxy Note N-7000 running JB 4.1.2
Baseband version : N7000DDLS6
Kernel version: 3.3.31-906407
BUild number:JZO54K.N7000DDLSC
2) As I was following the procedure from Omnirom's official website, I first rooted my phone using Framaroot's single click root app. This gave me SuperSU app.
3) Then I tried installing TWRP recovery (recommended by Omni) but they dont support the N7000. I read a few other tutorials where it was stated the CWM recovery and that too Philz CWM recovery is the best to go with. Apparently it is just stock kernel with CWM recovery. Since the latest one(philz_touch_6.07.9-n7000) was not being installed, I installed the one before that which worked (PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-5.11.2-signed).
4) I even installed the ROM Manager as per the tutorial. However, uptil now I could access recovery mode ( Vol UP+Home+Power) and i saw the touch enabled philz recovery mode once. Then i did system reboot.
5)After reboot, this is where I did a mistake in my opinion. I opened ROM Manger and clicked on "open in recovery mode" option. Since then the phone is stuck on the Galaxy Note N7000 logo. Please help me revive the phone. Thanks in advance. Again, Im doing this for the first time and most terms are new to me. So please explain the procedure as other tutorials are not very clear.
You missed on reading the most important instructions.
Rom manager will not work with note. Recovery is built into the kernel on note and not as a separate partition.
Try harder to get into recovery mode. If you still can't, get the ddlsc Philz kernel tar version. Flash it using Odin. Then power off the device and boot into recovery. Then flash raw kernel. Reboot recovery. Flash omni and other required zips.

[HELP] Completely lost and frustrated

Im completely confused by this GT-I9070...
it seems ive tried everything and nothing works...
I wanted to upgrade my friend's GB to MIUI, downloaded the ROM, installed CWM, flashed the ROM
and the phone got stuck in bootloop.
after that i tried a couple of different ways to flash at least the stock GB firmware back,
but it got stuck in setup (Setup.apk and gapps crashing constantly)
then tried a couple of things with odin, and got completely confused and frustrated.
can anyone please help me out here (im kinda noob here in flashing with odin and stuff)
and explain how can i flash a ICS or whatever ROM that will finally work?
a ste by step walktrough would be nice
currently i somehow got back to stock recovery, tried to flash TWRP using odin, and got stuck in bootloop again.
You need to flash official jelly bean firmware first, look on sammobile or samsung-updates. After that you can flash any ROM you want trough CWM recovery

To flash the stock ROM JB (4.1.2) you need to flash with Odin. Then flash the cocore kernel so that you can get CWM. CWM will later be useful to replace the default recovery easier for you to install a Custom ROM, which you want.
Note: Flash COcore Kernel using Universal Kernel By Frapeti. Download via Playstore.
Requirements: Your device must root first.
Additional info related to how to install the Cocore Kernel, using Universal Kernel by Frapeti. Please see the thread here.

Why flash root.zip and after that flash cocore kernel? Why not directly flash update.zip (CWM by shaan) after you have flashed stock, than you can install any ROM you want, no need to flash, reboot, flash, reboot.

Because it is a choice or to me personally as an alternative method that I use. Or may include other users while still using the stock ROM. So there is no harm in using any method, as long as our desired goals are achieved. In this case get a Custom ROM.
I just dont get it..
I've downloaded a stock 4.1.2 firmware, flashed it using odin, everything went ok, got the green pass from odin.
As i have turned the device on, the error on the setup wizard still exist.
It seems like all of the setup wizards on all the stock firmwares i've tried are failing.
Also the device shows gapps crash error.
Any method to root the device while being unable to go to Playstore as suggested above?
or,
any method of knowing if the device is rooted or not?
my friend played a bit with the phone and maybe have rooted it somehow..
anyway, now im kinda with the stock 4.1.2 firmware, the nest step is to root, then flash the cocore kernel, am i right?
