Just wondering is it possible to use custom notification bars, dialers, and keyboard themes without flashing a new rom? I found some notification bars and dialers Id like to use from the Magnolia rom yet keep my HTC Sense. I dont use any launchers or anything. I prefer HTC Sense over the others.
I am rooted and I do run the HeyItsLou Kernel v8
You can use metamorph or ninjamorph, free from the market, to apply the images.
Or you can create an update zip containing the apk's and flash them in recovery.
I tried Metamorph, but nothing happened.
If you are running a deodexed 2.2 or 2.3 ROM you can use the Kitchen.

Somewhere in there I found some cool skins for HTC SENSE. This will only change a few things though. Not dialer and keyboards.
But themed Keys are easy to find. I'm sure you know all this, but I'm just trying to participate.

Do you have HTC HUB? And is it HTC SENSE 2.0?
I haven't had any problems installing them, but I'll try to help as much a possible.
Install just like a normal THIRD PARTY .APK

Not familiar with HTC Hub. Not even sure what version of HTC Sense I have. I dont know how to check for versions.
Me either (dont know how to check sense version.)
But there are some signs. When you press personalize, does a path drawer come up and have Skins, Wallpaper, Scenes, Widgets, Apps, Shortcuts, Folders, etc..?
If it just has the last four mentioned when you tap and hold your home screen, then you don't have HTC SENSE 2.0

When I hit personalize I get scenes, home wallpaper, and default ring tone. Im almost positive I have Sense v1.
So how can I get these things to work with Metamorph? I have all the files downloaded and ready to go.
I'm not sure, because I never needed or wanted to use MetaMORPH.
Can you post a screenie of your Home and Personalize menu?
And what phone do you have? I'm sure you just unpack the zip in MetaMORPH.
I don't know much about it.

I have the HTC Incredible through Verizon.
Okay. So now we know your stock ROM was Sense 1.0, what Sense Rom do you have now?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Oh, and a really nice ROM for DInc w/ Sense 2.0 is Myns Warm Z twopointtwo. You can change the skins to the ones you have downloaded.
By far my Favorite ROM for DInc when I had mine two days ago. Lol.

The stock HTC sense rom. I havent flashed any custom roms. I like the default one from HTC. I just want to change some minor things. I have a dialer picked out. I want to get rid of the verizon branding in my notification bar, and I want to change the battery icon and thats it.
Okay then you have to use metamorph. I'm pretty sure there's a tutorial somewhere around here. On the Myns Warm thread, there's a video tutorial on using MetaMORPH to change keyboards. I'm positive it works the same for battery and dialer.

After some researching I think my issue is with the amount of space in the /system folder. Only issue is I cant see that folder with Adao File Manager.

That's the right guys, but again - it seems dead. The last posts in that forum are dated for the end of May, before the thread on this site was declared abandoned. Many of us have been watching this for a long time, and it really doesn't seem like it's going to happen.
Sad

What about the launcher? It's just a launcher right? Like any launcher should just work. I can understand the rest of the parts being a problem but a launcher is just a launcher right? If not than maybe someone can clarify why

If I recall correctly, the launcher is baked into Sense, and Sense 4 uses a different framework than previous versions of Sense (You need the proper framework to have it work).
IMO, Sense 3.6 is ok. Only some "little" things diferent between 3.6 and 4.0 Like
-Transparent Notification Bar.
-Background color in Settings.
-Flip-style "windows feel" task manager
In this box, we easily find the transparent mod, and flip-style task manager.

Thanks for clarifying that. My flyer is similar with its sense 1.1 for tablets. Several people been trying to sense strip it but some things can't be changed such as the lock screen and menu colors due to framework differences

Am I missing something here or does the 4.2.2 really not have widgets on the lockscreen?

Thanks to HTC, no. We have to wait for someone to make it so we can flash the stock 4.2.2 lockscreen. People in the ARHD thread got it to work by renaming or removing the HTC lockscreen apk but supposedly some could add widgets and some couldn't. That thread moves way to fast so I can't find any of the info for that now so have no idea how to get it to work or if it really does work.

I have renamed the lockscreen and now I have stock. But I can't add widgets to it. I saw some people on the arhd thread who can ....

It's ridiculous that HTC didn't add this option.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
for some reason if you dirty flash from a 4.1.2 ROM to a 4.2.2 one you get the ability to add lockscreen widgets to the stock lock screen (which you get by deleting HtcLockscreen.apk)
I suspect HTC removed whatever bits of system ui from 4.2.2 that supported them, and dirty flashing is the only way (so far) to get those bits.
Do they work on stock lockscreen?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
And I thought Samsung's implementation of Lockscreen widgets was dumb... at least they can do it. Bad HTC, that's a very bad HTC. I'm gonna get a rolled up newspaper.

No that's what I was talking about
Hopefully someone will figure out how to add them in. So dumb that HTC would do that.

Is there anyone working on this ?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Mine works. I just flashed the 4.2.2 rom TWICE, then deleted HTCLockscreen.apk (or add a .bak to the end of it) and it worked. I went back to 4.1 right not so I don't have a screenshot, but it did work for me.
HTCs lockscreen system is bad enough already. You can't even have a different wallpaper than your home screen unless you are willing to lose out on the function of the other lockscreens. God forbid us being able to have a different wallpaper AND having notifications on our lockscreen. I really hope someone works on this. Because from what I can tell torxx and mike couldn't really care less widgets on the lockscreen. Torxx just told me to use something like widgetlocker but that thing causes lag sometimes and mike says he hates lockscreen widgets period.

Same thing for me…
I would like display full DashClock Widget…
I don't have the HTCLockscreen on TrickDroid 6.0.1, I search it with ES Explorer but not find… WTF ?
Hi guys,
Running ARHD 12.2. I was wondering if there is a way to replace the sense lock screen with AOSP and also use lock screen widgets, like dashclock.
I would like to avoid widget locker as I'm not thrilled with its functionality.
In my searching, I've come across a few posts alluding to doing this but I have my found explicit directions. If anyone could provide a step by step (or a link to one) set of directions, that would be very much appreciated!
Thanks,
J

Navigate to /system/app and rename HTCLockscreen.apk to HTCLockscreen.apk.bak. Reboot. Voila! AOSP Lockscreen. But to keep the widgets I had to dirty flash from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 so I'm not 100% if you'll have working widgets, though I don't see why not.

Thanks. Is it 'HTCLockscreen.so.bak.' or '.bak'. it doesnt seems to be sticking!

A word of advice - while this trick will work, you still might be disappointed. The reason being is the fact that with the aosp lockscreen the phone stays locked even when a call comes in! So to take the call you will have to enter PIN first (my phone is PIN locked). Voila...
I don't if it's even possible but I thought I'd ask. I prefer having the sense style recent apps layout on aosp. I'm currently on gpe so I wanted to see if someone could possibly port that over with a flashable zip or however it would work. Thanks.
