Droid 4 here, just upgraded to jelly bean. I need a wifi tether (not yet rooted). Is it possible yet?
Go to the play store and search for either Foxfi or Pdanet+. On the latter, there's a chance it will be usb tethering only

Foxfi does not work with the jellybean update I can connect via usb tether, but I am looking for wifi tether.

I don't believe u can because you have to remember with pdanet u have to have it installed on the CPU and with wifi tether and easy tether they set up an adhoc network. But I haven't tested it on ps3

tethering will probably be too slow for that type of gaming anyways...
I've just bought an iPad (non-3G) - will the iPad's wifi be able to make use of the Froyo hotspot? (Or is there a non-Froyo way to make a hotspot? I haven't updated yet.)
Mobile AP is already on Eclair for most regions
and it worked for my ipod so it should work for the ipad
Yes it works perfectly on both eclair and froyo.

Great, thanks to you both.
This is just an idea but with the brains on here I know something could be done. The hd dock let's you have legitimate usb ports. Would it be possible to use a PS3 controller directly through it? Could make emulators and such a great and awesome thing. Any ideas?
You can buy the six axis controller app in the market. It will use Bluetooth to connect them and you won't need a dock or a cable.

lol, i know this now. had read a while back about it not working well with the bionic. didn't check for an update before posting. looked at it about an hour afterward....and i now have the sixaxis app running and am reliving the megaman days...
Sixaxis works on the Bionic now. You need to bypass IME so it makes the controller act like a hardware keyboard. Some people notice lag when using it through the HDMI though. Personally I haven't had that issue.
Do i need any hack o mod to use this app?
Yes i check the market and say root required lol

I have a nexus 5 and use the WiFi tethering to run my Chromecast. I use another android device to operate it, and it works great, but something confused me...
I read somewhere that the device running a tethered network can't communicate with other devices on that network. It's just how android works. And its a bummer.
However I recently saw that I can cast from G+ photos on the device running the tethered network, my nexus. Also the new mirror feature sees Chromecast but won't connect. I was able to mirror pretty well at a friend's house using an actual router so I know this is a working feature.
So my question... Does anyone have an explanation to why my nexus can see my Chromecast from these apps? Netflix doesn't see it and the Chromecast setup app won't run at all when the WiFi is tethering. It would be something pretty incredible if it was some hidden thing we could unlock in those apps...
Eh?

Only the tethering app has access to the tether network...
All the other apps use the normal data connection....
Since they are not connected to the Tethering network they can not see the CCast.
it's possible, instead
