Hey guys i know ther has been a few threads created asking about wifi not working at all, my wifi works but its shockingly bad. I have 801.11g devices that can hold a connection way better than this phone is. Im on the lastest euro 4.1 firmware, on multiple routers the connection will drop if i move about 10 meters away from a router lol ive unticked the only use strong connections tick box but the issue continues.
I upgraded to 4.1 before i used the 4.0.3 firmware so i dont know whether this is firmware or hardware issue.
Cheers
It's not a matter the distance between you and the router ,, it's depends on the density of the medium between you and the router (walls , doors ...etc) .
For me the router is about 8 m from me and I have only one degree signal . While in another router (in another place) I can connect from 20 m .

echo "Sender.product.model=LG-P880" # (O4X) .

thanks_meter=$((${thanks_meter} + 1)) ; fi #Press it
Go to settings > Wifi > Press menu button > Advanced > Untick "Avoid wifi with bad connection"
(i have rom in different language, so it can have different names).
At my phone this improved wifi stability and also wifi, where before was shown zero signal bar, now have 2

My wifi seems to disconnect from my wifi when the screen turns off, despite me having changed my settings to never sleep. When I look at the wifi settings it says "Unsuccessful Connection". I didn't have this problem with my MT3G.
Anyone having similiar issues or a fix?
wifi Reconnection issues
I'm having the same problems with mine.
It initially connects to wifi fine but when the screen goes off it sometimes drops the connection and will not reconnect without a reboot.
I have tried setting it to keep the wifi when sleeping but it makes no difference.
I found a few similar reports elsewhere and followed most of the suggestions, like changing routers, changing wifi channels, setting an IP address instead of DHCP etc. Nothing seems to make any difference so far.
Mine never seems to reconnect after waking up, but I just go into the Wireless settings/Wifi settings window (where it lists all the Wifi networks in the area) and press on the network name and it brings up a dialog allowing me to connect again. I press the Connect button and it instantly reconnects. No reboot required...
Try increase your router's "Group Key Update Interval". I had the same problem with my D-Link DIR-655. I changed mine to 10 hours and it's working fine for me now.
i have the issus that my wifi is "connected" i mean i see the logo at the top bar but after a few minutes i don't get any update from the internet like gmail oder twitter when is wake up the device from sleep i get them back again
maybe it something with the Group Key Intervall but i can't switch it on my speedport w700v router
I just tried switching mine, highest it can go is 7200 seconds, so I bumped it to two hours instead of one. linksys
my wifi reconnects when I wake the screen almost 100% but it's not reliable.
I have to go to wifi list and reconnect. Sometimes I disable wifi and then re enable, conects no problem. Irritating
i heared that switching the encryption from wpa/wpa2 to only wpa2 will solve this issues, will try it when i am at home
...seems like almost everybody got this problem.
for example with my Hero i don't had this problems so it's something with the W-Lan card of the Nexus
Got this problem too but will try the suggested work arounds when I get home tonight
found out that my encryption is wpa2 not wpa/wpa2 ... damn so thats not the reason
and my router cant configure the group key intervall
I don't have this issue, running CM5.0.3.1, mine is set to Never Sleep and it does not. My connection does not time out either. I connect to two Trendnet TEW-637AP's at home, in mixed b/g/n mode with WPA2-PSK mode security.
Could it be, that this prob exists just for nonrooted phones?!
i've got mcr 1.6 which is rooted and don't work
i think it's a problem with the wifi card and the wifi router
rooting just means that you get read/write access to all folders
doesn't change anything on your wifi connection

Not exactly, it means also modified system files, which could include those that interface with the wifi chip and those that control the sleep state of the device.
Also, Cyanogen (and most other custom roms now) are running on a different (newer) kernel.
yes i know
but mcr is although running on different kernel and it's not working there
i don't think its an issue bei the stock rom and mcr
maybe here is someone with CM where the wifi drops?
edit:
okay i tried it with the desire rom version from modaco, the same failures, maybe i try a CM built now, and see if it changes
Code:
[B]Rom [/B] [B]Router / Access Point[/B]
MCR 1.6 | Speedport w700v | not working
Desire MCR | Speedport w700v | not working
CM 5.0.3.1 | Speedport w700v | not working
i think this means it's not a rom issue, its something with the routers and access points in combination of the wifi card from the nexus
That´s strange..perhaps just accidentally, but: yesterday I installed "Task Manager" , which has an auto-kill function.....since then my Wifi reconnects perfectly
maybe because it automatically does anything inside of the 10 minutes which keeps the wifi active?
which one did you install?
there are a lot of them on the market
which developer?
edit:
ah i found a strange issue, today i was at the wifi of my girlfriend, she has the same router BUT i don't have the wifi problems there, with the same model of router thats very strange
i found another work around, i set my twitter client to 5 minutes update intervall, this means every 5 minutes is network traffic and the connection won't drop after my 10 minutes public key intervall change
don't know how much battery is used while setting from 10 to 5 minutes but i think it should be okay
Try a different WiFi channel
I've seen reports of WiFi connection problems being solved by changing channels on the AP. Channel 10 seems to be a consistently reliable choice.
WOW, THE WIFI CONNECTION THING IS SOO MUCH FASTER THAN THE 3G UP N DOWN ARROWS! My son convinced me to get a router thing and now he can get the most out of all those psp's, itouch pods, n stuff that I bought em. So after a few hrs I figured out how to use that wifi on this zio, youtube doesn't freeze anymore, internet seems to always be waiting for me now, but its disconnecting a lot more often the more I use it. Now Im usually waiting on IT to reconnect then click retry and sometimes its even faster to just switch bach to the 3G up n down arrows. Am I not doing something right or is there something I don't know or need to do? (Take it easy on me everybody)
Now I'm so broke i can't even pay attention!
Have u seen Ray Charles house, neither has he!
Depending on the router you got and where it is positioned in your house you may just be losing signal or you may be experiencing interference from something. Try the wifi out for a little while in close proximity to the router, see if it stays connected. If it does and you have no problems move a little further away until you start to disconnect. If this works in reproducing the problem then you know it is one of the two things I listed.
It still disconnects when I'm sitting 2ft or 12ft from it with full signal. After it drops connection, then connects back on, if I use it damn near constant it'll blaze through, but if I pause to read a section of news or whatever that takes like 2min, the instant I click something it'll drop and repeat steps above. Id post what kind of router and where I got it but I don't know if posting brand names and company names is against forum rules or what. (PERFECT EXAMPLE: AFTER TYPING THE POST ABOVE, I PRESSED SUBMIT AND WHILE RECEIVING FROM SERVER, WIFI DROPPED)

N7000 When I click on pull-down menu , my wifi is blinking in and out , and my phone reboots it self at random . I was on 2.3.6 never had that problem I went to ics and it started doing that and it had poor battery performance so I went back , full wipe open europe but that error stayed with new GB . Any suggestions are welcome .
Try using an app like Wifi Static to configure your phone to use static IP on your wifi networks (as many of them as you possibly can) and see if that reduces your number of restarts.
The experience of a number of users indicates that random restarts on the SGN can be laid to rest by using Static IP based network configurations over DHCP.
It has to be worth a try for you.
I have the z3+ plus dual, before and after the update, I get an exclamation mark with the wifi signal, however, I've been reading that this means I have no access to internet but I am connected to the modem.
This is not true, I have the internet conection, I get everything with both SIMs turned off, but the exclamation continues there, I shut the wifi off and on and it goes away for 10 minutes and then the mark is there again.
This is no real issue, it's just annoying to see the mark,
Has anybody had this happened? Did you resolve it?
Help appreciated in advance.
Yes, I see it, too. Most time of the day.
Yes, my Wifi still works as it should.
No, I have no solution for that, yet.

Go to Setting > WiFi > Advance > Set Frequency to 2.4GHz
If nothing found in settings then change ur router settings if it support dual band
just change name of 5GHz Freq SSID to something else.
the issue is related to lollipop bug not for xperia
Go to settings > WiFi > press and hold the connection you have issue with > modify network > tick advanced options > IP Settings drop down > select Static > enter the IP address you want, gateway (your routers IP address), DNS1 and DNS2 (find them in google). Network prefix length was set to 24 on mine and I left it like that, I can now connect to my home WiFi with no problem. more

Hi community,
I'm writing because I have a strange WiFi problem with my S21 Ultra which I had with no other equipment before.
Setup:
- Galaxy S21 Ultra
- FritzBox 7590
- Fritz WLan Repeater 1750E (2x for better range coverage)
- WiFi 5G Auto channel WPA2/3
- WiFi coverage is good (tested with a lot of other devices)
Phone Setup:
- Paired with the WiFi
- Do Not use Mobile Data
- automatically reconnect to wifi
Problem:
The phone does not automatically connect to the WiFi.
The phone also looses the connection to the WiFi several times a day.
When the phone is not connected to the wifi I open wifi settings.
- It happens that the wifi list is completely empty and the circle animation indicates that the phone is searching for nearby connections
- It happens that the wifi list contains a list of wifi networks the phone has seen before when it was connected last to a wifi
- Switching off an on the wifi helps to find the actual networks and the phone then connects back to wifi (most of the time)
I tried already several settings and combinations but so far none of them brought any success. So I would like to know if someone else had a similar issue or has an idea what could go on here.
To me it seems strange that the wifi scan is not working as I would expect it. I would expect the phone to continously refresh the wifi list with networks it sees, but always when the phone lost its wifi connection the list is not working anymore.
Try tinkering with the wifi channels and encryption until it shows up.
Or you can try resetting the routers to see if it does anything

Has anyone else have WIFI connection problems ? With not finding any WIFI until i factory reset it? And after a few days the problem reappears. Last time i didn't factory reset it and after 3 days, with no adjustment, the phone found WIFI, but...

You said the phone loses connection and etc. Does that happen only at the location you described, or does it also happen at other locations?
It is possible that your phone also gets confused with the router and the repeater.

- Phone is on standby (placed on a table, etc.)
- I turn it on to check messages,
- No connection to wifi
- Open wifi manager
- No wifi networks listed at all
I do not know why my router/network should be the problem. All other devices in the wifi work flawlessly. It cannot be that I have to restart my wifi router every time the phone finds no wifi at all. That makes no sense to me.
It looks more like the android wifi service is still on sleep and does not report new wifi networks (which would be necessary also to see any wifi at all).
May I suggest....
Settings -> Connections -> Wi-Fi -> (three dots it top right) ->Advanced
Make sure "Turn on Wi-Fi automatically" and "Wi-Fi power saving mode" are both off.
If you use a repeater is it a mesh or AP solution? I find Android will drag its feet letting go of a wifi signal even when walking into range of another known network. Had an extender in garden and even when down to 10% connection on Wi-Fi it would stay connected to extender, I had to turn wifi off and on quickly to get it to pick a better network.

Definitely try what lywyn suggested...
you can also submit an error report on Samsung Members app, it sends reports directly to Samsung and get the feedback.
Download the app from the Galaxy Store if you don't have it on your phone > Memers app > + button > Error report

Unfortunately no success. I configured exactly like suggested. Does the S21 Ultra have problems with handover in meshed WiFi setups?

sometimes it happen when you connect at certain locations.
If you haven't already done so give this a try. Settings, search "Wi-Fi", scroll down to Location, Improve accuracy - toggle on, Wi-Fi scanning - toggle on.

Mesh is a single network solution so should not be a problem.
The only other thing I can think of is the power-saving mode. My son has his Pixel on power saving all the time and I know sometimes he has to turn off/on wifi to get a connection when waking the phone up
I found the issue! It is WiFi Direct related. The app "nexar" from the dashcam is interfering with normal WiFi on this phone. Nexar conquers the WiFi functionality and is responsible for my wifi disconnecting. The app requires the "Location always" permission. If I remove this permission my WiFi works again normally. So: one has a similar issue: remove "Location always" permission from the nexar app. In my case it helped.
You said the phone loses connection and and many others. Does that show up best on the region you described, or does it also happen at different places?
Kodi nox
It is feasible that your phone additionally receives harassed with the router and the repeater.
1st you need to honestly recognize if the issue comes from the cellphone or likely from your WIFI devices. Once this is clean, you've got something to go on with...
