Hello, good morning, I apologize for the Google translation XD, I have a N700 which only works well with android 2.3.6, when I install the official 4.0.1 or 4.1.2 works only for a moment and then locks , the screen freezes, forcing me to remove the battery, anyone has any idea that can be? those same files with other N700 update without problems, this device might have a hardware problem.
Good evening..how do you install it? using PC ODIN?

yes , every time I did it with odin, this device only gave me problems, update and downgrade several times and still the same problem
I'm too, excactly in the same case! But right now, when I come back in 2.3.6, the phones do the same thing, freeze and reboot all day, when calling, when in menu, when playing, etc...

if your rooted.. try to back up your apps and data with titanium back up (if not rooted just redownload all your apps)
try factory reset under 2.3.6..
then flash with 4.1.2.. see the difference..
do not do reset with 4.0.4 firmware.. too risky.. might cause your phone in a brick!!

if your back at 2.3.6.. back up your data..
try factory reset.. see if there will be improvement..
When I come back on 2.3.6, I do in this order:
Factory reset
Flash on Odin the Firmware
Boot the phone
And do another Factory reset
But now, the problem don't desappear

same thing happens to me, and not to do, because it only works relatively well with 2.3.6? hard reset when 2.3.6 starts very slow for a while but not frozen as when in 4.1 or 4.0 :crying:

Are you on stock kernel? If so then flash some safe kernel and try full wipe, if that too doesn't help, then flash stock firmware using pc odin.
I am assuming you are on ICS, as you didn't provide any info. You should have mentioned the method used for root and everything.

Take it to a samsung service center and ask them to reset the phone. Tell them its too slow after the latest update using kies. If there is a problem with the motherboard they will report back and replace under warranty.
Else they will install the OS completely new and you can start from scratch to root and install other custom roms.
Try using USB jig to go to download mode, try it first. Jig is not expensive.

No it's not bricked. Yes you lose your warranty, but you can unroot your Note. Don't warry Note is so good phone, that you don't need warranty

Then if it's not bricked why i need to remove the battery for 1 hour and wait an other 2 hours to finally open my phone after a simple turn off? Thats why i want the warranty so i can take the phone to samsung and fix this issue. And im afraid to unroot it cause when ever i try to put my phone on recovery mode its stucks and take for ever to open againm\
Good day! First time poster and total android noob here \
Anyway, I had my under warranty note updated to ICS more than a month ago. Under gingerbread, everything was running fine and even after updating to 4.0.1, it was still running good. My problem started when I updated to 4.0.3. The phone locked my sim out and was asking for a network unlock code so my phone being under warranty, I went to the service center to have it checked.
The staff told me they needed to reformat the OS since I upgraded OTA. I backed all my data then I sent it to them. They formatted the OS and informed me that the problem still persisted. So they told me that they would change the board since formatting it did not solve the problem. A few days later, the board arrived and they replaced it. I got the unit back but noticed the camera would not focus. So I sent it back and I was told they needed ti replace the camera since it was faulty. I was hesitant at first as to why the camera would suddenly die when they only replaced the board. But it was fine with me and since it was still free, I sent it back to them anyway.
It was running fine when I got the phone back but since then, I always got a notification telling me a software update is available even when they installed 4.0.4 (and even before Jellybean update was aanounced). I tried to update OTA again but received an error report that it could not update due to network problem or to try updating via Kies.
I plugged my note via the computer to load Kies and received an error report that my device does not support upgrading via Kies. I never got that error before they replaced my board. I googled and found that maybe the board they replaced is not supported in my country or something.
Can anyone help me out? All I want is a clean install (if possible) with all software running good. I was always tempted to have my phone rooted to solve all the problems but opted not to since I don't want to void my warranty. I read somewhere that you could load an official ROM to reinstall your OS without voiding the warranty. And as you know, I am hesitant on asking the service center's help again (unless it is a hardware problem :fingers-crossed
Thank you in advance and sorry for the long post
u can download the Stock ICS roms from www.samfirmware.com and install it via PC odin.. this doesnot void the warranty
or go to this thread and install rom from ur region. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
all tool required are given in the 1st post.
Kies is not able to update the phone because the rom might not match the kies criteria (PDA/Modem/CSC).. PC odin is the solution for all ur problems

Thanks for the quick reply! Followup question, will reinstalling the ROM erase all my data? I know it probably would but I'm just making sure. If so, what backup programs can you recommend? I tried Kies before but the apps were not restored.. I need something that would restore contacts, messages, apps and others.
Thanks in advance!

I don't know of any backup app without having your phone rooted. But eh, new is always better
if u install ics over gb or ics. it will not as they are non wipe. but custom rom need a factory wipe to be done so they will.
Best backups u can get via root only.
titanium backup is 1 of the best
more over with custom recovery u can backup ur whole rom along will all data.

So how about this.. Root phone, install titanium backup, backup, reinstall ROM, restore backup, unroot. Sounds plausible? I would prefer to unroot so that my warranty will not be void
u can be on any rom.. to unroot u jus need to intstall stock ics usin odin.
reinstall ROM: is vast.. custom or stock?.

You can backup your apps with "app backup and restore" app.Rooting is not required for this app to work
For messages,"sms backup and restore" app and you can sync your contacts with your google account

I am a little annoyed by the software update notification that does not go away even if I am on 4.0.4 (maybe the service center botched the install) and Kies does not allow software update. I am a little OC so these small annoyances bother me a lot

What does Odin have to do with flashing a Custom ROM?
Under Flashing ROM you can find the instructions.
You must have CWMR to do this. Here are the instructions for downloading and installing CWMR.
Make sure your phone is rooted.

Also, changing the baseband version will not do anything good.

Try install another rom first (try any)
then flash your desired rom.

I don't know if everybody knows but if you're rooted on stock, you can use desktop Smartswitch to flash the 5.1.1 update and keep your files/data (but loose root). I just did it, I backed up my data before but it did not have to restore it.

Yeah no need to backup anything, just use Odin to flash and everything stays except root
yep, I have a mac though and never got the jodin3 thing to work so for me it was convenient
Does flashing w/SmartSwitch replace the recovery with Samsung's stock recovery as well?
had stock recovery so can't tell but my guess would be that it won't work if you're not on stock recovery
that was helpful

Wouldn't matter, it will overwrite whatever you have with stock recovery.

I'm pretty sure even if you unroot, you have to ODIN a stock rom/recovery/kernel to get an OTA now. You can't just unroot and kick it off

Title says without unrooting not without loosing root, I saw a bunch of posts saying that people unrooted to get the OTA. As I don't have a PC I could not odin, I found that I could use smartswitch to flash the upgrade without having to unroot, hadn't seen this info on the forum I shared it.
On another note I seem to have lost deep sleep after flashing the update on stock rooted 5.02. I wiped cache a bunch of times in stock recovery but it's still happening so I'll factory reset and report back in a while

would appreciate if you let us know if deep sleep is enabled after you factory reset
yes you can, it'll keep your apps, settings and files but you will loose root. I lost deep sleep after upgrading, factory reseted, still didn't have deep sleep but after a restart my phone seems to be deep sleeping now. Other users who upgraded seem to have deep sleep issue (without being rooted obviously) so it might be a general 5.1.1 problem.

All I had to do was to rub my belly and pat the top of my head three times -
seriously though, I only needed to clear cache once and it got my deep sleep back
So i purchased a Note 4 SM-N910T about a year ago. It worked fine but last month shortly after the 5.1.1 update I did it started randomly restarting for no reason. First i taught it was Snapchat because I red somewhere that there are camera problems, so I stopped using it. But it kept restarting even after that. From then I have made a factory and a master reset, rooted the phone and even installed CM 12. No mater what i do it keeps on restarting. The only way to get it out of the boot loop is to connect it to a charger that is not a fast charger. Then it starts charging and works normally and you can do everything normally. After you remove it from the charger it works as long as you do not use it. When you start using it and want to do something with it it starts restarting again. I hope somebody can help me fix this issue. I have noticed that connecting it to WIFI makes it 100% sure that it will restart any moment. If you leave it without WIFI as long as you do not do anything big it will not restart. For example I watched series on my phone I downloaded beforehand. I was able to go to the CM 12 file manager and change series for the duration of my bus drive and it has not reset yet and it has not been connected to a charger for around 12 hours already.
My last resort is to wait 3 hours for the stupid free 5.0.1 official firmware and flash it using the TWRP Recovery or Odin. If that does not work I would have t give it to a service. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Also a link to where I can download the 5.0.1 official firmware for free in normal speed will be of greatly appreciated as well!
Merry Christmas!
That's odd, I recommend odin flashing the stock ROM and everything. (Modem + bootloader) the latest one is DOK2 for T-Mobile

Do you have a link to where I could download that because all I found were sites where the free user speeds took 3 hours to download 1.5 GB?:crying:
Let me see if I can find one

Here is the full untouched ROM that you can download from Sammobile but it was uploaded to mega instead.

To revive the thread I tried flashing the N910TUVU2DOK2_N910TTMB2DOK2_N910TUVU2DOK2_HOME.tar via Odin. It all went fine and after starting the phone it went on to the step where its optimizing apps. It got stuck there and it went back to the boot loop. I had reflash the CM 12 and TWRP Recovery and now I am back at 0. So my question is how should I flash the stock rom. Go to TWRP do a factory reset than turn the phone off and flash the stock rom via Odin? Should I also flash TWRP ans SuperSu after flashing the stock rom?
Thank you for your help!
I've been having the same problem for about a week and a half; it's super annoying. I was running Dynamic Pop on COG2 then yesterday I updated to DOK2 and flashed Maximum Overdrive... no improvement. It rarely even fully boots before freezing or rebooting.
My best guess as to what the problem is that it may be overheating because it tends to actually boot if I put it in the freezer while booting, but then it freezes soon after taking it out. I suppose it could also be internal memory corruption.
Either way, I'm getting ready to do a warranty exchange.

First focus on getting a clean stock firmware booted. Do what you mentioned above but don't flash TWRP or superSu until the stock ROM is stable. We need to narrow down the issues so do as few modifications as possible.

You may have messed up the partitions. There is a thread about the pit file you should check out.

I actually downloaded 2 stock roms for my Note 4. One was the COG2 and the other one was the completely stock firmware. I tried flashing them but Odin failed (Auth) whatever that means. The only stock rom I was able to flash was 5.1.1 but it wouldn't boot up so I had to install CM 12 again! I have no idea how to fix the phone. All I want is to return to 5.0.1 and delete any changes. The phone has no apps on it so i have nothing to loose but I do not know how to do it..

You cannot use 5.0.1 ROMs on DOK2 they will never boot and no down grading. You have to use 5.1.1 ROMs for now on.

This is exactly what is happening to my T-Mobile Note 4 (SM-N910T) and the thing that you did to your Canadian Note 4 is exactly what I want to do. But can I use the firmware you provided at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/ref-stock-firmware-kernel-modem-recovery-t2920452
or must I use the T-Mobile ones and if I have to use the N910T firmware where can I get it so I can do what you did? A link or a thread would be amazing cause I really miss using my phone as normal!
