the topic is:
Legalize it?

AMD had their day in the sun when Intel kept flogging the Netburst architecture and pushing clock speeds until they hit the ceiling. Since they they've become more and more irrelevant, unable to beat Intel in any area. Innovation, IPC, Cost/Performance, Manufacturing... Intel hold all the cards.

IMO Amd is for cheap netbooks, on par with the i3.

I was completely sold on AMD in the 386, 486, and Pentium years... Then I began to realize that the saying 'more money equals more power' is true... The Intel processors are more powerful, and provide more for the PC...

AMD is on a downhill spiral... It may be able to provide sub-solutions for otherwise better-solutions, but it will never be what it was.... POW!!!

Intel ftw.

Let me put this in a way which everyone can agree. Intel is rubbish since celeron, pentinium and atom are really bad. But theydone something good with i7

I'm in the middle.
I currently use a Phenom II x4, but the i7 isn't too bad.
Although considering the ii x4 can beat some i7s (1st gen and possibly some 2nd gen), at $99, it's a good choice for people on a budget.
But if I was offered the top of the line i7, I'd gladly take it.

I think so... The countries would make tons of money on the taxes, and the subsequent trade that's established would make the world economy much better...

Why I built my own PC and why you should try it too **Ask Any Related Questions**

I built my first PC, and it was one of my goals to accomplish before the end of the world in December came:silly:
I decided to try it cause I was pretty good at the software side of PCs, but not Hardware. Honestly, I am so so so so glad I did this because it was such a fun experience AND I saved a lot of money on the way. Here are my specs:
Motherboard: Asus P6X58D-E
CPU: Core i7 950
RAM: 12GB Triple channel Mushkin DDR3
GPU: Sapphire Radeon 5850
HDD: 500GB WD Caviar Blue. 7200RPM
PSU: 850 watt Corsair TX850
DVD: Asus 24X DVD Write/Reader
Case: Antec One Hundred Lite
How long it took: 4 Days including the time to go and buy parts
Brand new parts or Used parts: EVERYTHING was used, except the case. This is the best thing you can do when on a budget because Computer parts work the same whether new or used, and they cost a heck of a lot cheaper
How much it cost me: $530(Seriously):laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Why YOU should try it: It is a very rewarding experience, you get to know your own PC(Like a pet XD) And you don't have to call that "Tech Guy" more often to solve problems with your PC.
Building a new PC not only gave me a fun time and save some money, but it also enabled me to get the components more than enough to play 2012 games in High to Ultra Settings.
Share your experiences/questions below, and I will try my best to answer them
Thats a nice setup but I think this thread might get locked. Only because there are already a few threads about building PCs in OT already.

Anybody who has a rooted, custom ROM flashed Android and has a brand name, prebuilt PC should really have his head examined
Building your own PC is very easy, and as the OP said, can be very rewarding. And it's a great experience if you're doing it for the first time. Heck, i'm building PCs since i was 13. Overclocked my first one when i was 12 .
Nothing to be scared of, just do it carefuly and choose the components for the build wisely
But I really do not get why people overclock their i7s, they are beast processors and most of them stay below 20% when playing games like BF3, Crysis, etc
Oh and I am getting 56 degrees Celsius at idle, is that normal? Also I have put it the heatsink back and forth many times.

So you're using the stock heatsink? And you should really get a tube of thermal paste. It's what helps transfer the heat from your CPU to the heatsink.

For my birthday, what should I spend my money on ($500 or so limit)

With my bday today (now...central US timezone) what should I buy as a present to myself?
Looking for something "gadgety" and fun/interesting
I'm set on devices for the most part, the Nexus Q, Chromebook (CR-48 model), and Sony Chromebox all interests me, but then they all do the same thing my current laptop or computer hooked up to my TV can do.
Thought about a smart watch such as a pebble and I just feel I'm too hard on my watches. (Normally stick with G-Shocks)
Thought about an iPhone 4S to play around with and wouldn't you know it, the g/f is getting one and then I'm gonna take her Nexus and try to trade it + some cash for an SIII.....
So....XDA OT'ers, what cool gadgets does my hard earned money need to be spent on?
DIY sex robot. It'll be the best prom EVER!
How old are you? That makes a difference. Any other hobbies? Where do you live?
Gym membership.
Lot's of gadgets to play with in the Cardio section as all the machines are like computers these days. Plus you get healthy as you play around with various settings!

I talk to my phone all the time, it's much easier. I use to only when searching for things but now that I have Google Now I use it much more. Most of the time if I am around somebody they ask me what kind of phone I have. I mean I wouldn't use it at a funeral and I don't go to church or Walmart and usually never the mall, I try to avoid mass social situations unless there is a DJ/producer I want to hear.

THIS THIS THIS! A battery is not a feature of the OS, and while making the OS more battery efficient is always good.. I want to see some advancement in the state of batteries, the phone has improved so much in the past few years it's crazy, the battery needs to catch up. I'm talking at least 3 day+ battery no matter the use in all devices.
