Unlocked rooted with TWRP recovery--stock 434.
Every time i am trying to install a custom rom it takes ages to install, recovery stucks & at last i give up installation and restore my stock rom from backup.
Is anyone with the some problem?
Please define "ages". It could take some time (5 to 10 minutes) to install another rom.
yup
it doesnt take u ages....it takes as much time as u took for rooting or even lesss.. ..
maybe ur custom rom package has some defects....try downloading the rom again or use another recovery like cwm
It stays in flashing at least for 20 minutes and i dont think its rom related ,i will try with CWM recovery to see if its solved

Hi,
I recently flashed a new rom (ultimate galaxy s v.7) from xda, and I flashed it via clockwork.
clockwork installed it and I rebooted, and it seemed to hang on the lockscreen for an abnormally long amount of time.
when i take the battery out and try to boot into recovery mode, it flashes to black then shows the galaxy s boot again.
previous to flashing this rom i have cleared the cache and all data on the phone. i have a nandroid backup so if i could get back to clockwork recovery this would be helpful.
also previous to flashing this rom i had a 3 UK rom which i installed by accident via kies, running 2.1...this rom seemed to be quite resistant to installing another rom from kies.
help would be MUCH appreciated...
thanks in advance
so recovery mode isnt an option then ?
What about Download mode ?
Hi,
Download mode worked before.
I have now managed by some miracle to get into recovery mode and now have gained options about a speedmod universal lagfix.
Is this associated with clockwork / ultimate 7.0 rom / a sign that the rom has installed in some form, and should i reboot, or should i now do a nandroid back to the rom i had before?
I believe speedmod uses CWM, so you can just do the rollback to your previous rom

however would it be safe to reboot, as i'm currently in recovery mode and considering to do a nandroid OR alternatively reboot and see if the new rom starts up..
well u cant leave it in recovery mode forever lol, reboot it, if it doesnt come on, try recovery mode again or just flash another ROM thru ODIN
ok. how long do you think is a reasonable time to wait before concluding that the rom doesn't work and I should nandroid back to my old rom...?
Half an hour gives plenty of time .
jje
what would be the reason that it hangs on the galaxy s bootscreen?
could be anything.... installing process not completed properly. best to just re flash .

do you mean recover via nandroid or reflash the same rom, then leave it?
choice is yours, ive never restored using nandroid so dunno what its like. but try it first, if no success re flash using odin. u will lose all your data
I have an I9001. I know how to make root/Lots of flash Stock or Custom via odin&cwm/ etc.
When try to Flash a custom Rom today. Phone start with CWM mode. I made all wipes and format data/cache/system/sdcar/mmc but stil phone start with Cwm. I use recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-ariesve.tar.
Then I flash a stock Rom and phone open normally. but sometimes its restart and wifi&3G looking together on status bar and phone's screen opeden for 1 sec every 30 sec.
1. Why i can not install Custom Rom (when i try it phone just open with cwm and all wipes not works)
2. Why phone restart a new Stock rom then the screen always opened itself ( i tired XXKQE and XXKQI and same )
Sorry for my bad english.
if u come from ginger roms to ics , maybe at first install when you install rom , it's install recovery , So then you should install rom again.
if this is not your answer , ask your Q in this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252697

Did you read my first question?
Maybe you should reconsider answering it again. You didn't give any usefull information.
And please don't answer with: "What do you want to know?"
I downloaded [PhilZ-cwm6][n7000] Stock Kernel+CWM6 put it in root of sdcard on phone.
Then went into stock recovery and update from sdcard .It starts to flash but progress bar goes off after
part way through and phone switches off...
I also tried to do it using Odin but it gets stuck on Nand write start
Hi guys, i need your help..
I was tried to install a custom ROM and i use CWM v6 to install it (i'm on stock ROM | JB 4.3 | FW .205 | locked bootloader | recovery installed : CWM & TWRP), first step i format the /system and is successfull, then the next step wipe data/factory reset but i get stuck process on:
--- wiping data ---
clear /data done.
clear /cache...........
I don't know why, but i've been waiting for 20 minutes and still stuck like that than i decides to turning off the phone with tiny button at bottom of battery (not power button), i turn on the phone again and then i've got bootlop ( what.... where is my recovery ) i didn't noticed the recovery still in there because there is no LED notify when i turn on the phone, just SONY logo :crying:
Is that happen because wiping data didn't completed and causing my recovery also gone ?
So what should i do ? can i get the phone back again ? I have the stock ROM backup on my sd card and on my laptop because before i try to install a custom ROM, i've created current ROM backup with CWM.
please help me guys..

You wiped /system so your recoveries are gone.
On older Recoveries using the wipe to install new rom can take ages so just leave it and eventually it will finish, latest version of Philz (in Bagyusz/Nexus ROMs) seems to fix this issue.
Use DSSMEX triple recovery and use philz not cwm as its a much nicer recovery (but the clean still takes ages as its an older version)
Use flashtool to flash stock rom and start from scratch to re-install custom rom.

You have bootloop because your phone is essentially empty of any OS or recoveries.
Flashtool to stock, find dssmex triple recovery and install that in stock when rooted, load into Philz, clean to install a new ROM and then just wait, it will take a while usually dont worry unless it takes over an hour.
Then flash the custom ROM of choice.

Can I know what Custom ROM are you trying to install?
Sometimes wiping could take time, and I am not sure why. If happens again in the future, just let it be.
As you are using LBL, I am unable to elaborate nor understand how recovery has gone. (WARNING: FOREIGN LANGUAGE) Recoveries for LBL are stored in the ramdisk OR the FOTAkernel. This is due to the fact that Xperia SP does not has an exclusive "recovery" partition in the rootfs. I dont know if wiping data would trash them.
You can easily recover your phone by flashing a stock ftf. You may follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56717587&postcount=4

Thanks for your explanation sir :good:
Flashtool to stock means i need .ftf file to restore the stock rom ? is it possible to restore stock rom through nandroid backup file that i've created using cwm ?
Well, the problem is solved. My phone back again and a custom rom has been installed.

Dont use flashtool..... Youre wasting time.
Just flash Williams kernel using fastboot and flash the custom rom you want.....

Thanks for your advice, but my phone has been repaired
I wanted to try and install a custom ROM on my Note 5 N920CXXS3BPL5. As you would guess, I messed up. I wiped the whole system, including the backups. Now the phone is booting into TWRP. But I cannot go ahead from there.. Tried to install many ROMs, although they get installed, they get stuck at loading after installation.
Do we have anyone in UAE in this forum?
Can someone help me to install a CustomROM for this phone please....
Try gOing back to stock rom and try again .. If you can boot the phone into download mode you can easily install stock rom through odin or Samsung smart software...
