Hey guys!
So i got my hands on this old Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830) which is bricked. When I power it on, screen just goes on and off and on and off etc...
I have access to download mode (vol down + home + power), I have access to emergency dload mode armv9 (vol up + home + power) but I can't get to recovery.
- First thing I tried is getting to recovery but I can't manage to. I tried to power the phone on while pushing the home button. I tried to power it on and then very quickly press and hold home => didn't do anything. If you guys have tricks I could try, that would be great .
- The other thing I tried to do is to flash a new ROM via Odin. So I followed this tutorial:
First I tried with the latest version of Odin. I downloaded a rom and installed samsung drivers for mobile phone. When I plugged in my phone in download mode, Odin recognized it, saying something like COM:3 in a yellow case. (The usual stuff). So I pressed start and it stayed stuck on "setup connexion". It couldn't get further.
I saw on the internet it could be a USB related prob. So i tried all 4 ports, not better.
I saw Kies shouldn't be running. I don't know what it is. Any chances it was running on computer?
Then I tried with Odin v4.42, using the cooper .ops file (which i don't know how to use with newest version of Odin). That time, I tried to instal CWM, but it said the package was corrupted or something. Couldn't try with another version. If you could provide me a new one, I would try again .
I also tried to flash 2 ROMs. One of them went through the whole process but my phone is still in the same state as before. This is what makes me think of a kernel related problem. I don't know anything about samsungs, but on my xperia, the phone won't do **** if the kernel is not right.
So how can I know which kernel I have and how to switch it back to stock?
So yeah, basically, I'm stuck here. Some help would be really appreciated .
TL DR: How to unbrick that goddamn phone?

Don't no much but you can get the stock firmware from samfirmware make sure its the same as your ace model download that start Odin load cooper ops file and click one package load the firmware flash and it might work again IV had that problem before and this is how I fixed it btw I use Odin 4.38 for my ace

Hi Trichelieu!
Just in case, you could try yagya's thread: Clock Work Mod Recovery v5.0.2.6 Flashable via Odin. You have the odin flashable recovery and instructions.
Good luck.
You just got a thank just for trying to help me ^^.
I'll try that .
Rah, it went well, Odin said "pass" but I still can't reach recovery :/.
Thanks anyway .

Hi Trichelieu!
Before flashing with Odin did you change the OPS file name to "Cooper_v1.0.ops" (without "")?
That could make the difference. Just in case, you have all that in hubix's [GUIDE] How to upgrade, root & flash Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 [DOWNLOAD LINKS | CWM5]
Good luck.

Well I already had a file called "Cooper_v1.0.ops" so I did not rename it. But it put in the right field yes.
I'll look into that topic. Thanks again.

Are you sure you've got USB debugging on?
When I was first trying to ROOT, I thought I had enabled USB debugging but I had something else.
Just have a look for the fun of it. Settings>Applications>Development>USB Debugging
Well its detecting your phone means you are enabled USB Debugging mode.
Try closing all apps in Device. if it doesnt work at all even in the other pc also. flash again KL3 through odin then try rooting again.
yeah tried 2 others they failed to even get past "starting daemon..." both windows XP, and yes USB debugging mode is enabled!
rebooted my PC and not working, Flashed KL3 3 times in total still no go

did you copy Zimage file to the Zimage folder?? if yes , then try without copying zimage file, coz after extracting "CF-Root-SGN_XX_ODD_KL3-v5.0-CWM5" folder already ter will be a Zimage file inside zimage folder. try this. actually i did it like that way only and it worked without issues.
wanna try shortcut? just flash sheep rom v2.2 with odin.
You'll get root automatically without any flash counter.

You have to put the zImage in the UNZIPPED InitialCFRoot file in the zImage section, not in the downloaded one . So open the downloaded InitialCFRoot file and unzip it first or else the zImage cannot be flashed!
nah, it's not count. just try it your self...
PS. only work with sheep rom which use stock kernel.

its common to get stuck on set up after odin flash,
you just need to get into stock recovery and data wipe and factory reset and reboot
dont do it if you have just flashed an ics rom
with GB its fine
if you are on ics then flash phillz kernel matching with that rom and get into its recovery and do your wipes there and then reboot

Hello,
its possible to save a exe file to more links. This link for download its a exhausted.
Thank you and good work.
Will this fix a hard-bricked Ace? Like one bricked by Rom Manager?
I think this will only work with soft bricks and nothing more than ROM spliter which splits one package rom to 5 file format.
I have also faced this situation myself once i had also soft bricked my phone and was trying to flash one package rom(sammobile.com) and found got to it doesn't work. in the end flashed 5 file format rom via odin and resurrected my phone

Stuck at Samsung Boot image. PLZZZ help. Will "DONATE" to whom ever that can help
Hi guys,
Please help me fix my Note 5!!!
Quick background story:
Bought it on ebay "As Is". Guy said it got stuck while using Samsungs smart switch software. Phone still has intact Knox ("0") so warranty is intact.
But I dont want to take the warranty exchange route yet. It is on 6.0.1 PD2 or PH2 (i forget, I am at work at the momemnt) because thats what smart switch says
that it is going to restore.
Things I have done: (Used multiple cables, using Win10)
- Tried Emergency restore via Smart Switch. -- No success. It says something like cant restore.
- Used Odin 3.7 & 3.12.6 to flash stock PD2 or PH2 firmware. Odin flashes the rom now (it wasnt earlier) and when the phone reboots it stays at "Samsung Logo" and
doesnt move on.
- Cant get to recovery. It just does nothing when holding the buttons.
- I can only get to Download screen.
So, I dont know what to do now. I was able to get my previous note 5 working by using odin but this one is just stuck.
I would really appreciate all the help.
Thanks.

Hi,
So I tried going to the link and unfortunately it did not work . The software to repack the (boot.img, recovery.img, system.img) does not work for some reason. Tried using 7zip, but I cant find a way to combine the 3 img files into .tar files. What am I missing here?
Spent another 3 hours after work today fiddling with this . The wife is def not happy.
Any other suggestions?
Plzzz help a guy out.
You can try to install TWRP recovery by odin. Boot into download mode then connect your phone to the computer. Once done you will need to download some files which will install the recovery by odin. Next hold the volume up, power, and home button until twrp recovery comes up then connect the storage to your pc and install a custom rom and hopefully this might fix it. This will void warranty so do this at your own risk.
