SlideME - App Stores

Is slideme.org still alive? The approval process seems to take forever.

SlideME is for sure alive but some apps may need more time for approval or awaiting developers to make corrections if App is in denied state as per the Application Approval Process.
If you submitted your app on weekend, you will need to wait till Monday for it to be reviewed.
Once applications get approved they appear within the SlideME Market (SAM) app and those that stand out, get also featured within SAM.
If an app is in forbidden state, unfortunately such apps are not open for appeal.
UPDATE: If we found your submission and if it "timesheet-free" is your application, then this app is not even "Published" for it to be reviewed.

It's had the "to be approved" status for a month. Didn't know you had to enable "publish" before the approval process got started. I thought i could enable "publish" once it got approved and i was done with the app presentation text and images.

I submitted my free alarm clock app there, but they refused it as the full version wasn't available there, while it was accepted with pleasure on Samsung Apps and Amazon. I was willing to add a full version after that, I did it in Samsung Apps and Amazon, but I forget about Slideme as it seems that they only care about there profit ( paid version).

Power Manager!!

Works great!
Press and hold each profile to change settings
It's on the market
Locale also does this . its on the market too
I find locale works really well especially when using location within the situation aswell. Class app!
Don't Update "Power Manager" !
I understand how hard is it for a developer to make a decent application. I remember the hours (coding and debuging) I've spent on some crappy school projects in C++. However, that dosen't permit the dev to deceive us. The dev of Power Manager has add few features to the latest update and when you download it, you'll realize that your copy becomes a trial and it'll work for 3 days
Shame on you !
yeah, i almost install but whew. i still have it with no trial. if you want it. message me.
these days i backup all apps before updating just in case- did it with this but read the comments first anyway...so anyway i didn't update it either.....its not like i can buy the paid app anyway!! Does he realise that those of us not in USA can't buy it and are then shut out of using his app until such time as google decides to allow us to purchase apps!!!
When I install new Apps I always do "cp -r app app2" in sd-directory.
I even can't buy paid apps, because I dont see them and I also dont support it.
Someone should place a rapidshare link of the free .apk-version at the market comments to protect users from such embarrassment.

I still need to learn all these commands and locations.
I'm assuming that cp -r app app2 means that you're copying the app folder to a folder named app2? Isn't "app" in the phone's memory?
are you kidding?
because the software WAS free to use, doesn't mean you, or anybody else but the autor owns it. You don't have the right to distribute it. If an app costs money or not doesn't change the rights to the software. distributing apps that used to be free is not allowed, because it is not public domain, just because it is free.
I am embarrased about the attitude some here have just because a dev decides to now charge for his work, where he was previously not able to (due to the market not supporting it).
I even can't buy paid apps, because I dont see them and I also dont support it.

you dont support what? people producing useful apps? people charging for their work? may I ask whats your age? and your profession? I am pretty sure you don't work for a software development house, do you?
let me repeat that: while a dev can provide his software FREE OF CHARGE for as long as he wants, that doesn't make him lose the rights to his work! so stop asking for links to software that used to be free, because this still violates the rights of the owner.
if you want to use an app that costs money, buy it.
oh...and for those that cant wait the few weeks ... well ... I do understand the frustration that causes, but your rant is against selling android software per se. and come on...USD 0.99 is too much? if this is too much, then the app can't be that important to you.
how much time do you think the developer spent creating the app?

Yes, you're right. I have all apps running from my Ext2 sd-card. So there's enough space to copy the App folder several times.
I think you can also save all apps to sd card with ASTRO (Market).
don't think i'm breaking any rules with this, as it's free...
but heres the version before the update. enjoy.

i will reupload if needed.
also have the free slide-locker version before the annoying new one if anyone wants that?
btw, for the European users that want to buy apps, you can use SAM app market:

they don't offer Power Manager as of yet, but I bought Advanced Taskmanager there due to not beeing able to do so from Android market yet
How pathetic.
People ***** and moan about getting better apps, but are too cheap to pay 0.99 cents for one they use.

people are *****ing and moaning about an app that was advertised as a free app being suddenly converted to an annoying trial app without any warning.
the creator could have at least published a new app instead of trying to wipe out the free version.
i'm all for paid apps (although i'm in the Uk so i can't d/l them) but the way the Power Manager developer went about releasing was all wrong, and is going to make a lot less money because of it.
i would be glad to get the free side locker

I still don't get why you think he should have done that.
again: just because he offered the app free of charge for a period of time doesn't mean it is public domain. You guys make it sound like you OWN the app because it used to be free. maybe you should have read the license you clicked away when you opened the market app, hm?
its 100% his decision. he could also just pull the software and demand that it won't be distributed at all anymore, if he so desires.
there is a HUGE difference between not charging for something and owning the app.
There's a little difference I try to tell you:
The developer made an update which turns the app from free to trial.
So it's not like he makes a new better "power manager plus" or whatever and let the actual Power Manager for free... no, he makes the free power manager to power manager trial and offers a NEW app called "Power Manager" (wtf?), which costs money (doesn't absolutely matter how much).
Because "Power Manager Trial" is related to the old "Power Manager" (free) you are forced to do the update. You couldn't do the update, if it would cost 0.99$. No, he makes the update free for everybody and turned it to trial. It's a trap! This is a cheating way to market his app as good as possible and I DO NOT SUPPORT THIS!
That was the bad way... the good way is:
Let the app under the same name for free and don't develop on it anymore. Make a new app called "appname PLUS" (or whatever) and request money for it. The developer would be likeable for me and I would like to pay for it. It's so harmonic I would even pay for it without having new features.
I absolutely agree with the thread's name 'Don't Update "Power Manager"'.
Now the devs won't frighten me again and I hope everybody understands, why I don't pay for an app, when a dev tries to cheat on all the users, which were lovely using the (free) app.
Fair play at the Android Market!
I'm with Meltus and MacFloid on this 100% The old app should've remained free, and all development stopped on it, rather than a bait-and-switch. Now granted, it tells you that it is now a trial app, and you are not forced to update, but that does not make it any less disappointing. I'm all for paid apps, but keep the free apps free, and if you want to make money off that app, release a new, more advanced version, and charge for that... but don't trick your supporters into thinking the app is free, and then quickly throw in a trial period, possibly without them even realizing it. I wasn't happy with the way the dev for "Task Manager for Root Users" handled it either, but even that wasn't as bad as the dev for Power Manager. At least I noticed the trial period warning before I hit update...
-John
BTW... anyone happen to have an .apk of the old, free "Task Manager for Root Users" handy?
I agree that the way this was done was underhanded. This morning, when I first saw the update, the only new comment in the description was "3/6 UPDATE****." There was no mention of the change. It was a blatant trick to force his >250,000 downloads to pay him 99 cents in three days or else. I almost clicked update, until I noticed every comment had one star. Now that I checked it again (three hours later), he changed the description to say it's changing to a three day trial. I understand that it is his right to do this, but the fact remains that his original goal was to fool us into clicking update by not telling us it's a trial version. I will not support this dev because of his methods. How do I know that the $0.99 one won't eventually expire and I'll have to buy a $2.50 version now that I know his business tactics. There are plenty of other ways to convert your free app to a paid one. Task Manager for example. He simply removed the free version from the market and released Advanced Task Manager. He didn't try to forcibly remove the free one from my phone. I can respect this and I supported that dev by buying his app. He also could have left the free one alone and made a paid one with new features. I can think of a few new features off the top of my head. For example, DxTop allows apps to have widgets built in to them. He could make a widget pack built in to his new Power Manager. Options for power graphs and various toggle switches to be put right on the home screen. If something like this was added in I would reconsider buying it. My advice to this dev is either completely pull the free/trial version from the market and hope people have a short memory, or completely restore your free version and give the paid one some new innovation. You could even release updates to the free one that do nothing but add a one time pop up that advertise all the new features added to Power Manager Pro. That was the method that got me to pay for Discover Pro.
However I don't agree with people asking for the apk files of the free task manager and slide to unlock programs. Those programs were legitimacy pulled from the market and replaced with superior versions. You still should support the devs that put forth the effort and not blindly lash out at every dev that decides to start charging for their software.

That may be a role in it but I don't see it as a bad thing. It has its pro and cons:
Pros:
- Google sees this as a threat and significantly improves their app market. (Competition... something that AT&T / T-Mobile doesn't value -_-; incoming Market War? In the end it'll cause the two companies to improve their market/app store whatever you want to call it)
- 15 Minute Trial? Nawww.
Google's Android Market lets you return apps for a full refund within the first 15 minutes after you buy. Apple, by comparison, does not allow for trial periods on iOS devices. Amazon is taking a similar approach to Google by letting you test drive apps on your PC. "You control the app with your mouse and experience it like you would on your phone," Amazon's Test Drive Apps page reads. The feature lets you try the app within your browser before you decide to buy. This feature appears to be reserved for some of the more popular titles and may not be available for all apps.

^^ winner?
- Some apps are cheaper on Amazon App Store than the Market.
- Free Paid App of the Day (free paid apps? with permanent updates? huge winner -- at least i believe its permanent updates)
- Countries that don't have access to the Android Market are able to buy apps and get free apps.
Cons:
- Possible that more companies will start their own "App Store" and Android will be more spreaded out in terms of App Markets.
just some of the things on top of my head.
And the worst part is that it's unavailable in several countries.
I couldn't care less about Amazon, but I do want Angry Birds Rio.

Microsoft has already started appealing the term "app store" awhile back. So Amazon would be on Microsoft's side. And I would agree with Microsoft that the term "app store" is too generalized.
http://www.xconomy.com/seattle/2011...tore-a-trademark-that-microsoft-also-opposes/
The Seattle area’s two tech giants, Amazon.com and Microsoft, find themselves on the same side today—battling a trademark claim by Apple. As expected, Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) said Tuesday that it was indeed opening its new Appstore for Android, despite a recent federal lawsuit by Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) claiming trademark infringement of that company’s App Store brand.
Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) has been opposing Apple’s attempt to secure the App Store brand name for a while now, but in a different venue—an appeal with federal trademark regulators.

And since we're on Android... I'm going to go ahead and assume that we all want Amazon/Microsoft to win this lawsuit. Not being a fan boy or anything, but I hate Apple's guts when it comes to making lawsuits on patents/etc.
Besides, in most court cases.. even if they lose. So what? it would either end up in the following ways:
A) Amazon pays money to Apple and continues using 'App Store.'
B) Renames it to something else.
@AllGamer: You don't have to use Amazon App Store to make purchases. You could just simply use it to get 'Free Paid Apps of the Day'
But Amazon is pretty trustworthy. Huge successful corporations. I personally just did it to get Angry Birds Rio and gotta say... the graphics in Rio are much more superb than the original Angry Birds & Angry Birds Seasons.
In the end, the developer of the app/game is still getting paid. Thats what really matters.... isn't it?
For some reason it won't let me get Rio. It says I need to add a payment method to my one-click settings, which I checked and there is a payment method...

[APP]MJ's Strain Guide Free[V1.7]

Hello everyone on this forum,
I have been working on continued development of my app MJ's Strain Guide which can be found from this Thread. I have taken the idea that was being developed on WM6.5 and brought it to WP7 after seeing no one has made an app for us medical patients. I have programed so far over 340 different strains ranging from Sativa, Indica, and Hybrid. This app tries to focus on the patient as a grower and a smoker to help a patient locate a strain that will best address their symptoms with the proper properties. This app does not promote nor condone smoking illegally and/or commercial growing. This app is an educational tool for the patient who is seeking more knowledge on what they are putting into their body and what relief will come.
Here is a preview of the app running:
Updated Video!!!!
This video is of the premium version but on the free version there are ads displayed at the bottom. They both contain the same amount of strains.
MJ's Strain Guide Free:
Deep Link to MJ's Strain Guide Free.
***history***
Version 1.7 - Added a new item into the app. The new item is called Cannabis THC Info. This section gives information on what THC is and an explanation of why I wont include THC levels as there is now way to accurately determine an amount of THC in a strain as it is mainly related to the growers skill level itself.
Version 1.6 - added several more strains. this is a mini update but the app is now available to every WP7 Marketplace around the world!
App Version: 1.5.0.5 - initial release
The app is released in many different WP7 markets!
I hope you all enjoy!!!
now thats a fine app!!! when are u planing to release it and is it going to be on the marketplace?
Thank you. I have already updated it to be mango ready as well as added more as in interaction. Instead of a visual showing a selection now there is hepatic feedback. I also fix a few typos as well as made the main page a pivot control so it's not cluttered with links on the bottom. The new pivot page is an about page which contains the links now for strain suggestion. Tomorrow will be day five of submission. Its so close to passing once its approved I will push this update. It should pass as I ran it though the market submission tool and it passed everything as far as I know. Full boot time was 3 - 3.3 seconds. In the current release I am currently waiting for publishing has set up in the @Support link a pre setup email template the makes it easy for me to know what u want to see. I might make the template more complex. I will add a support email link as well in the new version.
Edit: super tired have some typos in this post. I will post the link asap once it is approved.
Edit 2: i have attached some screenshots of the updated version. I really want to get this update out as it has much more in it compared to the the one currently. i have not added any more info just functionality and made things look a little nicer.
Is it going to a paid app or a free one?
Its a free app. Here is a paid version but there is nothing different between the apps. They are exact clones of each other just the free one has a ad bar at the bottom but it not really distracting from the app plus there no way of accidentally hitting one. I have spent several hundred hours building this app but have learned a lot in the process but broke as hell so i have ads, sorry. I will also give the same feedback response time for both as in feedback or suggestions. I will be at times a few days slower to update the free one depending on my time restraints. I am also currently in the process of making a MJ cookbook app as well. I'm just getting my recipes organized. It will go through how to make butter and other cooking ingredients which requires marijuana. This will be good for those who don't smoke or can't. I am also working with a diabetics person to design some recipes for those patients. Must have love for everyone.
Update:
I am still waiting on Microsoft to accept my app. its been 9 days now. I have in that time done more work on the app and have added more strains to the list as well as change the home screen UI a little bit. i also improved speed on the app as well as improved the animation on the home page. The emails you would send on suggestions or support has been updated to a @cannapps.com email address instead of the current email. this will allow me to be quicker on contact. I am ready to push this update ASAP so once i get word i will push it through. Im hoping to hear from them tomorrow
Well after a month of waiting and fixing one minor thing just related to theme (as in white theme, black theme) The app has been approved. It is now live in the marketplace. Check the first post for the link
Just wanted to post an update for everyone. I am planning on updating the app with new strain and some new features in the next two weeks after my move is complete. Also a cookbook app is in the works as well.

Just a quick update... I have submitted a mini update to the app that adds a couple more strains to the list that I was able to confirm more stats on. Takes a while on each strain as I strive for accuracy. This update also should be available globally upon Microsoft approval. The next update should have a search feature as I am learning how to implement it and maybe a save image feature.

update is now live. if you cannot find it yet give it a day as sometimes Microsoft is slow to update there marketplace but full approval went through for the update. This will now allow the app on all markets. updated first post.
I am planning another update soon which will add more strains as well as the ability to take notes on a strain your growing within the strain details page. That will come once MJ's CookBook is complete which its looking good so far. More updates soon

[CLOSED]Free publishing of your apps on play store

EDIT: Please delete that post.
Great idea. :good:
However, there is one problem. What will you do if someone sends you malware to be published on Google Play?
You are the one who is responsible for everything you upload there. Just my thoughts. Think about it.
Well, lets just hope that this doesn't happen, i'll review the apk a bit and look for something that screams "I'm malware"

Good luck!
Hmm i'm sensing some sort of breaching of the developer terms of use
Maybe i'm just cynical after they removed my free app for copyright infringement lol but they did say several time that repeat offenses will result in your developer account being terminated.
But i agree the $25 is kind of bs, just for the intent to filter out spam.

I don't think that 25$ are a problem for anybody that wants to publish an app, and it is a good measure to keep a minimum apps level on Google Play.

GiveMeApps has no developer fees and gives you the option keep 100% of your earnings. They'll also let you withdraw your earnings whenever you want (not once a month or once every two weeks, or whatever), but they WILL delete your dev account if you upload malware. Wouldn't any reputable online store do this anyway? http://www.givemeapps.com
You're responsible if you upload harmful content, but most dev agreements will hold YOU responsible for any damages, so be careful. Why would you risk your own account?
you keep posting about them in every thread, but when are they going live?
every app i click on has no description and a pic of angry birds on top.

So i've recently created a developer account on play store and payed 25$ for that crap!
After all its still the nicest way to get your updates over to the users
Now, there are lots of very great developers here that don't put there apps on the market because of that reason.
I think its time to change this
PM me all the data needed for publishing and it will be on google play in a few hours for free

There's a lot more to distributing your apps through Google Play than offering your users a nice way to update them. Google Play is also a great showcasing platform, its search algorithm ensures prioritizing your app to the intended targeted users, etc. Also, as other people pointed out, it's the best way to keep users away from malicious apps.

Google Opinion Rewards App in India

This Is A Question For a Google App, not any Development or Firmware problem

Hey, I live in India and have the Google Opinion Rewards which is NOT AVAILABLE for the country. So, I use the apps Psiphon and Fake Location to tunnel my device and make so that It is like i am in US.
I downloaded the app from the Google Play Store, and launched it. It worked, gave me the initial survey, but I haven't gotten a single survey.
I have restarted my Samsung Galaxy Tab2 7" GT-P3100 several times because of battery etc. Does that effect?
As soon as it boots, I turn on my location apps and check my Google Opinion Rewards app. It has no difference, and keeps saying that a survey will come for which I'm approved. It never comes.
Just tell me if there is any flaw in what I did.
