[Q] Sharp images from XZ camera? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
We all know that the camera clarity is not so good in XZ... Even my Arc was far better as compared to this.. I tried changing settings alot but couldnt get any solution.. The pictures are not sharp at all.. Can anyone tell me how can we get sharper picture? The images are quite blurry even if u use the "Supererior auto" mode.. So if any one can help me..

Hold the phone still, make sure HDR is off, should come out quite clear and sharp in good lighting conditions.

Do NOT use superior auto. And lower you iso. High iso screws up pics big time.

If you need sharp images shoot in burst mode.

Lowest number possible so 100

My phone is in for repairs (audio) at the moment, but isn't burst mode max resolution just under 8MP?

upgrade to 10F maybe it help with the focus
Not a big fan of the camera neither, I can't figure out how to take clear pics. Many pics isn't sharp.
I have 3 different camera apps and none of them is good on inside photo..
I have the original app, camera zoom fx and lgcamera, where lgcamera is the worst. Only on auto focus the camera actually focus (original). Still I get pics that isn't sharp.
I'm on 10f... For me it seems like it got worse after the latest update...

i have lgcamera pro and the free version, images are hits and misses (sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad). im using camera360 and camera zoom fx as well.
have you tried changing the focus mode to fixed, or other modes?
I start to think that the only good camera that LG had, was the Viewty I, Viewty II its not bad too... Instead of learn... they do worst.

Yes..
In the original camera app there's only auto and face reckoning...
In camera zoom fx it won't focus in fixed mode, macro and infinity just taking the pic with ones. Lgcamera is the same and camera360 focused a bit (macro)..

Oh, it's a phone?? Naaah, damn, thought it was a camera....
Well, o2x takes better pics, even my transformer prime takes better photos.. but besides that, I love the phone!

I don't think it's bad and I don't really have any problems with focusing. I just touch the screen where i want to focus and when it is focused I press the the shutter button (or volume button).
I also had the N8 (well 3 actually) and woow I liked that camera, though I had problems with the screen, pink tint and things like that. After the third phone I took the money back. It would have been very nice if the N8 was an android phone.
I love it too,i hope the next version will better than now:laugh::laugh:

I recommend u to use Camera ICS+, I purchased it and it works perfect for me. You may try the free version, which is Camera ICS, it is actually the google stock camera with some mods, but I personally think it is even better than the stock LG camera app, hope u enjoy it.:good:
I use lgCamera, both free and pro version can provide better pictures with ISO and focus control, but sometimes it cannot save picture properly (resulted in picture without thumbnail)

It is changeable. Current duration is set at 3 seconds. How long do you want it to be?
Code: .field public static final RELEASE_TOUCH_AF_DURATION:I = 0xbb8
where bb8 = 3000 (ms)

result is the final picture is blurry, and details lost although its tries to focus. its not just the visual part, seems to be a combo

Best camera app?

Do you know any good camera apps that have better image quality and autofocus speed than the stock one? I would also like it to have similar appearance as the stock. I tried hdr camera, and it did have better autofocus and image quality, but its a bit hard to use because there are no on screen buttons, for example for flash, and picture taking is very slow for some reason...

HDR camera take multiple contrast images when you take a shot, so it takes a few seconds to gather them and compile them into a single image. And you can change flash settings in advanced menu. It is bit slower but 5mp camera isn't great for quality.

All you can really do is set exposure change mode to fast.
I haven't tried many other camera apps, but this one works well.

Camera... ISO

Have a strange camera issue...
When i set iso to 200, for example, it looks like all ok, as picture goes darker, but when I take picture, it goes brighter as iso is set above 800-1000 or exposure goes to max and saves like this... and then it goes back darker on the screen... Wtf?
When I setting iso in settings to 200, I want it to capture with that iso...
No hdr or flash is enabled...
Is this the known issue and there is a fix for that? Or maybe some suggestions?
Or its just me with this issue?
Thanks!

C6603, latest firmware, rooted, doomlords kermel...
i don't think the stock fw honours ISO settings.
It tries to up to the max then drops down till it finds a working version, so as to keep shutter speeds high,
despite what the camera app says!

What you are experiencing is that the viewer doesn't display the image with the iso that you have selected that's why it's all dark.
But when you press the shutter it takes the picture with the right iso.
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
Yup. If you manually set ISO to 100 in low light, and take a pic. (ignoring the viewer) you will get a reasonable result

You are in a Sony Xperia Z thread, so very likely to be one of those
If your fixed ISO is dark then, your metering is up the wack or the exposure is too short for the light in the sceen

Exactly as stated here, the same issue happens on most cameras LCD's in low light shots.

Hdr is not a problem here, and it is not turned on...
Problem is if in normal mode and iso set to 100 or 200 for example, in the mid light condition you almost dont see anything on the viewfinder, the picture is too dark, but if you take a photo it comes out bright and all is visible on it...

I know, but hdr makes a difference in the viewfinder when iso is set low.

[Q] Does anyone know how to take Macro picture ?

I tried to take a macro-focus picture with Z1, but it seems there is not macro mode in camera option. Any idea guys?
Change the resolution to 8mp. It won't display any mode at 20 mp.

Use superior auto mode and it automatically detects macro mode

Yes, but superior auto loses a considerable amount of detail and quality (it unnecessarily increases the iso)
for better results you can use the food options or you can deactivate the scenes, using lowest iso values and (in good light conditions) decreasing exposure level
Try using 8mp manual mode with touch focus option.. It will help..

What is the best manual/auto settings

I have stock z1 and was wondering what is the absolute best settings for manual mode and maybe auto. I know you can't change much in auto. Thanks in advanced

There is no absolute best setting because of various different scenes you could be taking. for example a good setting for a shot during the night would be poor for a good lightning portrait. auto mode tries to detect the best settings for the shot you are currently taking.
When taking a landscape you need hdr to smooth out the overly bright sky contrasting the land.
I find auto to be very good and I use it almost always. If you want to learn more Google for example " how to use DSL camera"
the cameras are different but the principle is the same and so are the adjustable settings.
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
Don't you worry about not having the full 20mp since auto is only 8?
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
I mostly use my camera on Manual mode, even in the evening and low light conditions.
I use the 15MP setting. Then, you can choose Exposure on the left side of the screen and the White Balance. When you have the right WB (you will surely chose the one that best fits YOUR eye, you can try changing the Metering settings. These are really great for many shots like portraits and Macro photos. You can search for Metering settings on the Internet. Last thing I chose is the ISO sensitivity. For brighter scenes you can decrease it, but for low light you can make it higher to catch more light.
Try out these settings in any possible way, you will upgrade your knowledge in photography, but the possibilities are endless.
All the best.
:good:
It will always depend on the scenario. But I always use 8mp 4:3 aspect ratio.
