[Q] What's happening with the boot loader lock/unlock? - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hello guys, I am GizModio. I'm new here!
Related to the title - Does anyone know for sure what is happening with the Boot loader lock status?
I'm running 234-000, GBR Black (United Kingdom) I have updated to the official V20A Euro open. I have tried 2 different unlock methods that have worked for other users, i'm just having no luck. Will there be an unlock for phones in other regions. If not would there possibly ever be a way round it?
Thanks!

[Q] To update or not to update (SIM unlocked)

Hello, devs! I am new to this forums (officially a noob) and I'll be getting my Atrix HD (AT&T) in about a week. The thing is I don't want to experience any problems as I don't live in the US and it'll be quite a pain to have it shipped there. So I need to make sure if the following is a risk or not
Jv4n5e said:
Hey there everyone!
I bought my Atrix HD unlocked from eBay, it all worked fine until yesterday a message from AT&T came to my phone saying there was an update. installed it and now my phone is locked!
I spoke on the phone to a customer service representative and he said that the contract Motorola has with AT&T doesn't allow them to give unlock codes (?) and that I should try calling in a month or two.
Is there anything else I could try before buying an unlock code online?? Please help

As seen here
Anyone experiencing similar problems?
Live in Germany.
Got mit AHD (At&t) yesterday and updated it today.
Takes about 10 mins.
You can update it without any sim-card!!! And the phone/wlan and everything runs already without sim card!:good:
Never saw this before!
So i bought the unlock code after the update right now.
The screen for unlocking is there.
Waiting for the code!:good:
I have already ordered from ebay and now i have the same question .
will any OTA update make it locked again ?
if yes then if i request the seller for the unlock code , will the same code that was used to originally unlock the device , can be used subsequently after any update ?
ps : i live in india
Using an OTA will not affect your sim unlock.
It might affect root and ur bootloader but not sim unlocking. I have done it several times on this and other motorola android (atrixes) phones.

New FW certified 7.0.A.3.212 (Nov. 9, 2012)

Just checked and it appears that there is a new FW certified. I hope this is for the UK generic as I have not received the 7.0.A.3.195 or .197 FW yet. I am still running 7.0.A.1.303.
Why not just flash the ftf?

It has not been released yet, it has only been certified by ptcrb, that does not even gurantee it will be released.

I do not want to change the UK generic FW I have now. I would rather keep it until I get the official update.

The 195 firmware in the all-in-one thread is for Vodafone UK (and one for O2 UK I've just seen added.)
Just like Batman, I'm waiting for the generic UK version. Up to you though SWFlyerUK.
Any difference between them?
My phone was bought from and locked to Orange.

Thats fine, but all you have to do is remove the bloatware and you will end up with a debranded FW, that is of course if you want to root, and on this FW you need to unlock the bootloader to do that.

none at all, you will just get some extra vodafone bloatware apps that can be removed with titanium backup, again with the proviso you want to root.
Thanks for the quick response, determined not to mess with this phone, so it's rooted but will keep bootloader locked and stock firmware

Thats fine, but if you update to .195 you will have to unlock the bootloader in order to root it again, unless a new exploit is found.
Hi all please help me
My phone was bought from and locked to Orange.
Orange blocks fastboot and assumes simlock.
can i unlock My bootloader? if so, how.
due to the original method: allowed-NO
(so sorry my english is poor)
Goto the dial pad and type
#*#*service*#*#
Look for the menu to see if bootloader unlocking is allowed.
If it is then follow my guide in the all in one thread on how to unlock via the official Sony way

bootloader unlock allowed:No
It is therefore another way?

[O] 4.1.2->4.0.3 unlock retained?

Hi, I was wondering which combination of
flashtool + firmware
when DOWNGRADING from an UNLOCKED v20a
will retain the UNLOCK after the downgrade to say: v10a
And, on the other hand, which combination of
flashtool + firmware
will remove the UNLOCKED bootloader state during a downgrade to say: v10a or v10h etc.
Thanks,
Roesti

I don't know if it will work... LGFlash Tool seems to completly wipe the phone.
Better try to manipulate them with sdk or normal kdz flash programs.

Root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688
you can try og lockscreen too.
Ok thanks I am now rooted
Can I not Unlock bootloader/install custom recovery etc?
Or change to EUR rom and do it??
Thanks again!!!!
now is unlocking useless for normal users ...because no custom roms / custom kernels .
LG released the soucecode this morning. So now its only a bit of waiting before the first custom roms will be released.

So I can unlock using LG official and put CWM on now or not?
Sorry about all the Q's , EVERYother phone I have bought has had a great modding community with guides everywhere so this is a bit unusual to me

Not until you unlock your bootloader which, until they find a way to do it, can't be done in the 234-000 version.
Also, there are guides in this community, you just have to look for them (e.g. in the General Forum or the Development one). There you could have found answers for your doubts, as well as other people trying to get around the bootloader issue (there's even a thread dedicated to 234-000 users, and another for 262-000 owners).
Now we just wait my friend!

Well going by the fact that you have 234-000 You might not be able to unlock your boot loader as of yet.
There are 2 users that i know of from the UK that have unlocked their boot loader. I have tried and and tried again.
LG's Open source team have told me and a few other forum members that 234-000 and 262-000 are both unlockable.
The best bet is to wait for AGBRBK V20A... Which is the UK build of 20A.
Its just a waiting game. :good:

[Q] Installing V20B on my phone

Hi,
I had this phone for ages now and I think it's time for me to update. I want to upgrade to V20B (and then install KK on that)
My phone came with Taiwan ROM (I'm in Australia) and of course I'm on V10d, and the timezone always keeps on resetting to the Taiwan (no matter what I do in settings)
So, I would like to know if I can install another countries ROM (to avoid timezone problem again), and if yes which one would be best to work in Australia and on my phone? Do I have to download Taiwan?? Since http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=15 has none for Australia
Thanks
Update to European v20A and unlock your bootloader from there.
Should be no problem regarding the region I think and as far as I know the v20A from Europe is the easiest to unlock bootloader.
Just flash it with LG flash tool and make sure you have all the drivers (LG and fastboot) installed correctly.

I installed EUR-XXX and now I have no reception on my phone! Everything else worked just fine except for the reception and viewing hardware info on the settings etc.. gonna install Taiwan ROM now :/
Why dont you take the opportunity to try our custom ROMs?

You should try with Taiwanese stock Rom. It probably has correct baseband.
If you want custom ROMs, unlock now and install it.

Thats what I did. I installed Taiwan V20B, rooted, unlocked bootloader, installed clockworkmod and Vanir
