[Q] What exactly does Link2SD help me with? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

From reading this: http://www.link2sd.info/description I understood that it can move anything in /data/app to SD card.
Is this the only folder that gets moved to SD? Are there any others?

SDCard always disconnecting so..

I was wondering is their a way to put the rom into internal memory and the apps in the SD? If so how would I partition my SD card to do that?

I don't see how that thread helps..? I just want a partition with the apps not the rom
The rom is always on the internal memory, thats why its the rom. Your phone loads the rom files from the sd card onto your phone.
You have to partition your sd card first, that way your phone/rom knows where to store the apps.
Original question(s) seem to be solved.

Apps2SD Question: Apps Installed Out of Market = Internal Memory?

Hello everybody, I searched but I'm couldn't quite find this issue I'm having.
I recently installed Cynanogen's latest rom, 4.0.1, and recently partitioned my 1gb SD card for automatic APPS2SD.
My apps are now installed in the second partition of my SD card after I rebooted, but now, if I install an app outside of the market, for example, I may have an APK file on my sd card and I install via Astro/OI File Manager, it takes up my internal memory, rather than the SD card.
I'm just wondering if this is just how apps2sd works? If I install apps via the market, it takes up the space on my sd card, which I believe is how it's SUPPOSED to work.
Thanks!
Edit: Sorry, I thought I was on the right section, please move.
Sorry I don't know how to help you, but no that is not supposed to happen.
Cyanogen's version of apps2sd installs the apps on the ext2/3/4 partition but leaves the data on the internal memory of the card.
to make sure the apps are on the sd card, use terminal emulator and type:
Code:
su
ls /system/sd/app
If it complains about the direcory not existing, go through the partition instructions again. if you see a list of assorted .apk files, your apps are on the SD card.

[Q] Install app on external SD card

Hello, I am a new user of my galaxy i9000. I know that we can move the app to sd card after update to 2.2. However, when I do that, it seems the system only move the app to the internal SD card rather than the external one (I didn't find anything thing on the external SD card). Is it possible to move app to the external SD card instead?
Also, is there any link people can provide which explain how each folder is used under i9000?
Thanks!
+1 ! Same problem!
No one knows?

[Q]internal sd card to external sd card

Hello masters,
I recently root my moto G because the storage is not enough when I want install some new apps. 8G is too small!
I want to use my 32G external sd card as the internal sd card. I found some people use root explorer to modify the vold.fstab, but I didn't find this document in my phone.
By the way, now I install the system-The Titan Prime ROM[APRIL 26](Version 1.1.0 STABLE). I don't know if the 5.0.2 has the vold.fstab document.
Anyone can help me to solve my problem?
Thanks a lot! I come from China, and I used to reading some experience post which is translated from XDA. Now I just go directly to the headquarter, feeling good.
Hoping someone can help me..........
Please come and help me~
There is nobody............
Don't think changing fstab is safe.... But I'm a noob.
It's better to move obb files to external using folder mount
I personally wouldn't even try. It's iffy at best and some apps just won't operate correctly that way. Just go into your apps settings and move what will move to the SD card then go into the storage settings from time to time and delete the cache. Even moving some apps to SD will give you problems so you may have to move some back if you experience problems.
