[Q] shortcut to stock reader? - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How to make a shortcut on my launcher to stock reader app?
I have a rooted Nook HD+ 2.0.6
What is the name of the app/process the shortcut must point to?

There is not an available shortcut for the reader app. You can either make a shortcut to the library or go to settings, applications, home and uncheck the recents in the quick corner. That changes the recent icon to a book icon that opens the last thing you were reading in reader.

In my thread where you rooted, under universal root, there is a description for how to put a home shortcut on your launcher. Do the same thing, but choose library instead of home.

I think this is next on the list
It will be HUGE!
EDIT: Maybe one of those shortcut programs will work? BetterCut? I think I will try it.
Launcher Pro
You can do this now: use LauncherPro.
Interestingly, looks like several of the native Nook apps (music, picture frame etc) have widgets. Maybe a sign of what's to come from B&N.
Any videos showing how well launcher pro is working? Is there a way to switch back?
No video, but if its not doing it for you, there's always the option of uninstalling.
It's working fine with the exception of some buginess in changing the dock icon actions -- trying to do so causes it to quit. It does give you apps on the home screen, widgets and an app drawer.
LauncherPro is better than the default home IMO.
The trick is to set the home to use a 10x10 grid. You have plenty of room for shortcuts and widgets!
I'm testing ADW now and am finding it better in general -- if for no other reason than you're not stuck with icons for the phone etc in the dock.

thanks, this has worked nicely for me.
I have not set a default for the "N" button, I keep letting it ask me.
If I set it to default of using AWD, can I get back to the Nook Default at some time in the future? I am not sure if that's in the ADW settings?

You can just uninstall AWD and you'll be back to the stock launcher.

There's also and app called home switcher that will allow you to change it whenever you want. so you can install adw and launcher pro and change when you want to.
I prefer launcher pro myself and agree that the 10x10 grid with the big screen is awesome!

Why would you need to go back to the default launcher anyway?
Here is my vid of LauncherPro on Nook Color (in HD!)

Adding to Home
I'm using Panda Home 2 and Home Switcher with good success. n takes me to the panda home and the nook color dock still gives me access to the library, shop, search etc on top of it.
Return to previous book is still there and usable as well.
I just installed Launcher Pro. All I can say is freakin SWEET! Its a full blown android tablet now. The NC is going to FLY off the shelves as more people read about this!
With launcher pro or any of the other home replacements, is there still access to the library and shop, etc? I like the way it reads books and don't want that to change.
Also, has anybody bought anything from B&N's shop since they loaded an alternate home page? What happens to stuff that would normally show up on your daily shelf or on the B&N home page?
With launcher pro installed, you can still bring up the library from the other launcher (that button with the arrow at the bottom/middle of the screen). I have not purchased anything since installing launcher pro, but I assume it would just show up in the library as normal.

Are there any home screen alternates that will allow you to put books or files on the home screen along with program apps?
I loaded ADW Launcher and it's so much better than the BN home screen. If I can put specific books or files on the home screen as well, that would make it perfect.

Astro lets you make shortcuts out of any file. You should be able to make a shortcut of an epub file. Not sure about Magazines and children's books though.
Just installed Launcher Pro. Couldn't add shortcuts, by long holding on the home page. But I was able to add through long clicking on the actual app.

Those are not Widgets, those are shortcuts. If you long press on the screen a box opens on the bottom of the screen. Pick apps. Now you can drag a shortcut to the screen. But only for apps gotten from B&N.

Accessing Magazine subscription from alternate launcher

I have a Nook HD+ that is rooted and running on an alternate Launcher (Go Launcher). The only time I have to go back into the NOOK launcher (via double click of "N" thanks to Home 2 shortcut) is to read magazines. Is there a way to put a link to the magazines directly on the alternate launcher home screen?
Thanks

You can get Anycut from the play store or Quick Shortcut Maker to make the shortcut. I made a shortcut to "Home" to bring me into stock menus.

[Q] Nook HD+ Rooted Questions - App install location and screen real estate

I am using a Nook HD+ with CM 10.1 installed internally. I was using the N2A card, but I was very unsatisfied with its performance and frequent crashes, so I followed the great instructions here and rooted the Nook - all seems to be working fine so far.
I've read the threads on the inability to install apps to the SD under the internal CM 10.1, and I tried the switch zip file, though I honestly don't know how to tell if that worked. I see in the file explorer emulated, sdcard1, and usb0. Under Settings, it shows up as Internal Storage (roughly 12.6GB total) and SD Card (with 29.71 GB total). Apps are still defaulting to install in Interal Storage. I don't run so much that I'm in danger of running out of room, but I would really prefer to have them installing on the SD card. Have I done something wrong with the switch file, or is there no way to accomplish this?
Also, on the Trebuchet launcher, it seems I'm losing a lot of screen real estate. There's a sizable margin at the top and bottom of the screen where I could place additional rows of shortcuts or widgets, but I can find no way to adjust the available size of the launcher screen to make this space usable. Is there any way to do this?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the newbie questions.
PR
There is no way to install apps to SD with CM10.1. My swap zip only changes where apps store their data, not where the apps themselves are installed.
And I don't use trebuchet so I don't know the answer to your question.

Thanks! What launcher do you use? Can you remove Trebuchet from the CM install safely, or should I just leave it alone?

I use ADW-EX. It is a paid app, but they have a free version.
Just leave Trebuchet alone. You set the new launcher as default and Trebuchet goes into the background.

I use Nova Launcher. It's pretty similar to Trebuchet and lets you adjust the grid size and the margins. ADW is good too, but I prefer Nova. Try the free versions of both. You can leave Trebuchet alone. When you hit the home button, it will ask you which one you want to use, and you just select the one you prefer. To stop it from asking, you set it as the default action. Easy enough.

[Q] No 'Launcher' option on setting menu CM 10.1.3 RC2 - HELP

First of all thanks for the hard work and guides to help noobs like.
I have noticed that under 'settings' I don't have the Launcher option to select.
Device is Nook HD+ with cm-10.1.3-RC2-ovation.zip + gapps-jb-20130812-signed
I'm contemplating using the 10.2 release but if there is a quick fix any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
What do you mean, launcher option? And what has to be fixed?

Hi, Leapinlar, thanks for the reply.
I didn't mean something ir wrong with the release. But something that might fix my issue in particular.
Here's a screenshot that could help explain. In my device the 'Launcher' option is not present.

Mine shows the same thing with no launcher. What launcher are you using? The stock trebuchet, or something else? What do you want to fix with your device?
Sent from my Nook HD+ running CM10.1 on emmc.
The stock trebuchet.
If there is no launcher option in settings. Where do you change the homescreen, drawer, dock options.
I know this might be unrelated but in my Nexus 7 (1st gen) running cm-10.1.2-grouper the 'Launcher' option is in the settings. Which initially got me thinking there was something missing in the Nook HD+. But if your doesn't show it either, Using another launcher might be the solution then?
Thanks.

That is what I do. ADW-ex. My launcher settings are in the menu on the home screen. Trebuchet's may be there too.

Appreciate the help. Will go ahead and try another launcher anyways.
Cheers!
