For stock rom is about the same as unbricking. You can use that to go back to Android version 2.3.6
For flashing kernel/custom rom i would usually use ClockWorkMod Recovery

i have a samsung galaxy note(GT-N7000) and it was working fine until
i accidentally flashed a samsung Galaxy SII STOCK firmware on it from Odin the flasing completed successfully but the device is with a black screen does not boot to download mode or recovery mode.
Please i need a solution
Have you tried a battery pull? Leave battery out of Note for about two-to-three minutes. Then try booting into recovery mode again?
Are you using volume up+ home then hold power until you get welcome screen for recovery?
If you have a backup from when you first got your note, try download mode - volume down + home then hold power until you get the welcome splash screen.
Still Not Working!!!

i tried but it will not boot at all no recovery mode no download mode
But it was working before i accidentally flash SII Firmware
is there a way to flash back the note firmware without going to download mode because the device will not boot
Help!!!
Please Reply Devolopers
While your Note is connected to PC Odin, try to get into download mode (vol down + home + power) then vol up, until you see there is connection in Odin (COM:ID turns yellow). Hopefully you still have 'life' there but just no screen/sound. Once you have that, flash a Note's firmware.
Sorry to say mate but your next and the only step is nearest samsung service center! :-(

Wow dude.
This worked for me to.
I wanted to flash a Rom but it did not work.
So i flashed back to stock Rom that i downloaded from sammobile.
This resulted in a black screen. Flashed a earlier version...still black screen.
But i noticed that the phone worked normally accept the screen was black.
I tried a few thing's until i found this. Genius!
Thanks for sharing dude.
Hmm i tried the steps mentioned, I think i managed to flash the original n7000 firmware and rom, but unfortunately i still see black screen. I can hear the starting tone of samsung while booting up thought, so my system is still working, jz the screen is not. Oh boy, could that be hardware issue then? Anyone knows how to check?
I read some tutorials here in the forum on how to root your phone! I was able to successfully perform. Until that point, my phone was still booting android 2.3.3 (ginger) that came from the factory.
Then I went into recovery mode and installed 5.0.2.6 ClockworkMod! Installed successfully too! Then I tried to install some roms modified for the S5830I, as read on the internet that the roms of them are compatible with the S5830C.
I tried the first version of the ICS lite and basic, the two images, when installed by clockwork gave no error messages in the terminal, but when you restart the machine could not boot the system.
I installed and booted each version of the ICS modificias separately. I tried other roms. gave some errors "gep.prop" because of non-compatibility with my model. In the end, tried to use the method with ODIN, but my phone can not boot the mod download! Yes, I tried all the tutorials!
I know I need to press the home button, power, volume down (...) I tried to use the ADB "adb reboot download", and also got no answer!! So ODIN does not detect my phone! Percebir also that the recovery mode always resets to a version e3 (I think it is the factory default recory) with this recovery can not seem to wipe the cache or data.
Really broke my phone? Why the hell i can get a good status of installation with the roms but can not boot them?
It's a classic
Yes you did break your phone, unless you try this last trick:
take out your battery
wait until your phone is completly uncharged internally (an hour or so)
go to a hot place like a radiator or somthing like that
do the "download mode trick" with the battery still out
put the battery in while still holding the buttons
repeate if it doesnt work
when you get the downloadmode, you are a lucky person. the rest you seem to know how it works... simply flash a new rom
I hope it works!

Hi,
I need to upgrade my Galaxy S.
Currently, I have this:
- Model number: GT-I9000
- Microsoftware version: 2.1-update1
- Bandwidth version: I9000BVJF3
- Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
- Version number: ECLAIR.BVJG2
Can you let me know how I can upgrade this ? How do I have to start ?
I have installed Samsung Kies and sync the phone with it. I expected to be able to do a firmware update thanks to Samsung Kies. But Samsung Kies doesn't seems to offer any firmware update !?
Can you give me links for dummies on how to flash my devices?
I dont know if it works fine when you are still on Eclair.
I've updated first my sgs to 2.3.6 with kies. You must open Kies in admin mod then it should works fine. If it doesnt you can backup with Kies, or rather kies restores it. Or you flash a firmware with odin. Unfortunately I dont know a guidance in english, but here in the forum there are certainly many of them.
If you are powerfull in german language, you can use this one: Here
It is for CM9, but it is the same approach for another custom rom.
If you want to stay stock (that's official firmware), then download samsung kies and just connect your phone to your pc using a USB cable. A message will pop up saying there is a new updade (Gingerbread 2.3.6). Back your phone up, then click install. Easy!
If you want to go for a custom rom, I suggest you download CyanogenMod 10 stable from CyanogenMod.org (once downloaded, don't try to unzip or extract the file, leave it zipped!) The ROM is based on android 4.1.2 Jellybean. It's a great ROM and also very stable. You will need to root your phone first though before installing it. But before you do anything, you will need to do a factory reset, and wipe your phones cache/partition first. Just turn your phone off and press and hold the power button + home key + volume up button (all 3 together). A menu will will pop up with the options to 'wipe cache/wipe partition' and perform a 'factory reset'. Use the volume up/down buttons to navigate, and the home button to select each one.
Once you have done a factory reset and wiped your phones cache/partition, you will need to find a root file for the specific firmware that is on your phone at the moment (look in Chainfires CF-root thread here on xda). After downloading the root file unzip/extract it. Next, download odin. Almost any version of odin should do, but try finding (again on xda) odin version 1.85 or 1.87. Once you have downloaded the root file and odin, open odin, then put your phone into download mode (press and hold the power button + the home key button + volume down button. A yellow android should appear. Then, connect your phone to your computer via the USB cable.
In the bottom left corner of odin, you should see the word ADDED! in a small box (providing you have the right drivers installed). This just means your phone is now connected to odin and ready to flash. To the right you will see a button called PDA, click on it and it should take you to your root file (provided you extracted/unzipped it). Double click on it, and it will automatically go in the PDA box in odin.
Above the PDA button, there is a 'start' button. Click that, and odin will do it's magic. After your phone has rebooted it should be rooted and ready to go. Next, close odin and take the USB lead out, then plug it back in. An autoplay box should open. Click on the option 'open folder to view files'. In the left pane, click on 'removable disk (G), and look for your external SD card folder. Click on it to open, and drag the zipped CyanogenMod 10 stable folder there, then turn off your phone. Wait until it is completely off and vibrates, then press and hold the power button + home button + volume UP button together. Your phone should boot into recovery mode.
Look for the option 'install zip from sdcard'. Again, use the volume up/down button to navigate, and the home key to select. After you have selected 'install zip from sdcard', there will be another option that says 'choose zip from sdcard'. Click that, and you should see a long list of folders. Toggle down to the 'external_sd' folder, and open it. The zipped CyanogenMod 10 stable folder should be there. Use the volume or up down button to select it, then hit the home key button. It will then install the ROM. When it's finished, just select 'reboot phone', and you are done!
Hello,
So I have a galaxy mini s5570i version and I tried to flash recovery on it. As i realized Odin can't seem to identify this version, I might be wrong tho, god hope so. So i tried to find another way of flashing it. I managed to get root on it (with an update.zip) but I couldn't find any cwm for it, so at last I tried my luck by putting the s5570 cwm 5.2.0.8 touch recovery on it via the original recovery.
Now the phone hangs on boot logo, I assume it can't find the system partition or something like that.
I'm still able to get into stock recovery and download mode.
What are my options?
Can I get custom recovery on it via odin or sd card or somehow?
Can I get back to original Android at least via sd and downloaded stock ROM and update that?
Thanks in advance

Hello everyone,
I've been using this community for a while, but this is my first post. One or two months ago I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and installed Imaginary ICS Final along with CWM Recovery 5.0.2.6. Everything worked fine but today I decided to update to a 4.4 custom rom. I installed CM 11 from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2659269, but after selecting my language a popup apeared which said "The setup aplication has stopped working", so I looked for another ROM. I found this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2684893, but it required TWRP Recovery to be installed. I downloaded it, copied it to my SD and tried to install it form CWM 5.0.2.6.
Now, my phone goes into a blue screen whether I try to boot normally or into the recovery menu and I don't now how to solve it. Since I can boot into download mode, I've tried using Odin, but it doesn't recognize my phone. Can anyone help me, please? Thanks a lot in advance.
PS: I'm using Windows 8.1 x64.
EDIT: Now Odin recognizes it, but it gets stuck in "<1> setup connection...".
EDIT 2: I've solved it flashing through Odin with a PC running a clean installation of Windows 7.

You usually get the "setup connection" error when you are in the Emergency Download Mode instead of Download Mode. You go to Emergency Download Mode by holding down Volume Up + Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it loads a screen that says "Emergency Download Mode" and you go to Download mode by holding down Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it does load the correct download screen with the yellowish message that say "Downloading…". Please make sure you are going to the Download Mode. Then try to flash again. Do post the result. Hope I Helped
Phone should detect in odin if you've Installed proper drivers for your phone.

You're right, I was entering Emergency Download Mode (the one which says ARM9 mode). However, if I enter the normal download mode and plug my phone, Odin doesn't recognize it and Windows shows a message in the traybar which says "Can't recognize USB device".

Glad to hear that buddy
try updating ur drivers online first, go to the download mode by pressing the vol up, down and the power button simultaneously, and then odin vud recognise it..
when u have successfully installed the stock rom from Odin, go to recoverymode, then to clockworkmod, remove cahe and dalvik data and then install the rom that u want.
This shud do as it worked for me..
Hit the "Thanks" button if it helped..
