App stores I use - App Stores

Google Play of course
One time $25 sign up fee Payouts once a month no matter the amount you have earned.
Synapsy <--Scam!
App brain is ok. You will get more recognition with them if you pay to promote your app verses just adding it to their library. Also your app must be live on Google play for it to be included on appbrain.

I thought this Synapsy company was a spam:

I'm trying with GetJar. Anyone has experience with it?

Aptoide Market.. the best?

In my opinion it's too difficult to trust any market that you have to upload your apk to. Appbrain though is perfect, has anyone got any other markets you can submit your apps (from google play) to?

Im still primarily using the play store. Doesnt app brain charge a per download fee or something like that even on free apps?
Note 2 ftw

I use Google Play, BlackBerry World and Amazon Appstore. Blackberry World has worked better than expected for us.

Use google play... Its the best.... Also check out amazon and appbrain for some additional profits......

getjar was worse than amazon for me. It used to be much better but i didn't have any luck with my current game.

Additionally to Google play I use AppBrain, RoboMobo and Opera.
They're OK. With minimal effort I get 20-30% extra downloades.

Try GiveMeApps. They don't have any developer fees AT ALL and you have the option of keeping 100% of all of your earnings. You also get to withdraw your money whenever you want using your control panel, not just once a month, once every two weeks, etc. You can also track your downloads and get analytics.
They also have a Tech Blog, YouTube channel, etc. :good:
It's worth it http://www.givemeapps.com

Play Store
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app

I use Play Store, Samsung App store, GetJar, Softonic, Opera, BlackBerry, Applandic and Apptoide.
Well by amount of downloads I have next list:
Play Store
BlackBerry
Samsung
Softonic
almost on the same position are GetJar, Opera, Applandic and Apptoide.
By the way, Softonic doesn't ask to submit an app, Play Store link will be enough.
GetJar was good for me when I've tried to promote an app with their promotional service but it's not so good as Appbrain. After I've finished the campaign number of downloads returned to the previous level.

I like SlideMe. I'll add to Play Store too, but right now i don't have a mean to pay those 25$.
That is one time fee and they will charge you nothing from that day? Not even when you withdraw your eranings?

Do any of the alternative appstores provide In-App Billing like google play does?
And did you have to adjust your apps to the different appstores?

Any idea why getjar wasn't working for you? I've heard good things about them, but haven't tried them myself (and what I'm hearing about them might be outdated...)

Don't miss: BUSINESS CALENDAR

Each day in the Amazon Android Apps market they give away an APP that you would normally have to pay for.
The FREE app for today (Wed April 27th) is BUSINESS CALENDAR and it sells normally for $4.99.
This is the best calendar app I have used on an android device, hands-down. It syncs with all of your google calendars - not just the primary ones for any account - and offers a mryiad of options for display, including home screen widgets.
Don't miss it.
http://gigaom.com/mobile/best-android-calendar-app-free/
- michael
I got it and like it much better than the G calender... Can't beat FREE!
Yeh I was using the free version and it rocked. Nice to have the full version now.
While I throroughly enjoy getting a free app every day, does anyone else have the same apprehensions I have when it comes to Amazon App Store?
I tend ot browse through it, then find an app I may be interested in, but ALWAYS feel like I shouldn't buy it becuase there's a chance it will be free soon.
It really is a nice perk to their store. Even at $1.00 each, after a year you've received $365 worth of apps, for nothing!!
i would suspect that the dev is still getting paid. i would believe amazon would foot the bill to pay the dev or something. but i'm just guessing
I know a dev who says that when they do this they pay the dev a percentage everytime someone downloads it. So yes, the devs are getting paid for this.
A percentage of nothing?

No, I can't remember exactly where I read it, but it is something like 20% of their minimum selling price that they define, or something like that. So, if the calendar was $5.00, Amazon would pay them $1.00 for each download when it was the free app of the day.
Maybe someone can post the exact info, but that's the general idea.
What I like about the Amazon App store is that you can download the app once and use the appstore to install it on more than one device. Plus it keeps them stored for you, so it is a type of free app backup too.

Free Paid Apps

Just passing this on, Getjar is giving away more new free apps including tapatalk and Tweet caster pro ! Enjoy happy Halloween

Yes they do. GetJar has been around for quite some time too, it's kinda cool to see it getting the attention it has been lately.
I've seen alot of members mention this service. Nothing wrong with keeping the service on device is there? Wasnt sure if people were using the service and then taking off their phones or what.
agrred I already use them and they are great!
great. thanks!! always wanted to try tapatalk.
They seem to add new apps weekly so check back in occasionally

Does anybody know how GetJar apps are updated?
They're not appearing in my Android Market list and I don't see how to do it in the GetJar app....
Will I have to go through Manage Apps->Downloaded Apps->Update every time?
Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've only been using GetJar for a little while.

you can't even update that way because you didn't buy it through market.
getjar apps don't get updates unless the publisher puts them on there, in which case you have to download it manually.
for example, the current version of tapatalk is actually 1.12.7, but getjar only has the 1.12.6 version.
but hey, free stuff is free stuff

good to know, i'm actually new to it too. i knew of it but heard more on twit/all about android. honestly i thought the Gold program was still a paid (like subscription) deal so i never checked it out. but yeah its totally awesome.
as with all alternative app stores, the updating is an issue but they are aware of it and working towards better solutions. right now it really is mainly on the developers who have to push their apps to different stores which is tedious. but yeah, i'm totally into free stuff even if its a version behind. if i need it that bad, i can support the dev and buy it via market.
Is SPB Shell in there? No way in hell I'm paying $15 for a launcher that I'll be bored with in one day.

As best I can tell, it's a great way to try out paid versions - especially when the paid version is more than just ad-free. If I find it worth while (and that it's worth the price to have the most recent version) I'll probably end up paying for the most recent version.
everyone should check out fractoid

Amazon Appstore app

I can't get the Amazon Appstore app to install. It gives me the message "Do you want to install this application? It will get access to:" then a list of areas and boxes for cancel or install. When I click install nothing happens. The cancel box works. (I did check the unknown sources in settings)
If it is being blocked by Google, that would suck.
I'm pretty shure its being blocked by Google.

Not true it's working for me. Go to Amazon& request a new link to be sent to your email.

Thats strange, i was able to do it on my N7. Maybe a reboot of some sort?
Works fine here. Go into Setting>Security and check Allow unknown sources. Go to Amazon web site and follow instructions to download and install. Did that to download an older version of a zombie killing game that works on N7.
Works fine for me. I use it every day to get the free "cr"app of the day.
Try rebooting it then re-installing.
If you're installing it from a previous backup from another device, it most likely won't work (not assuming you are, but just in case...) Like the others said, go to Amazon and get it directly and you should have no problem.
What worked for me was clicking the link for tablets. It says something like "no email or phone number, click here" and that downloaded the APK directly into my system download folder. From there it installed just fine. I had to do this to get it on my Google TV also. It seems to bypass some sort of test since the Google TV isn't officially compatible with it.
I just worked with an Amazon tech, got it to install using by going to this like in the browser on the N7.
http://www.amazon.com/app-email
Works fine now.
Mine installed fine. I used the APK from my phone. Got a bunch of the nicer FAOTD apps working perfectly too.

I find it incredible that everyone is giving Amazon a free pass for contributing to the Android Malware myth.
The fact you have to enable side loading on an Android phone to allow Amazon, means any other malware could also slip in. Using Amazon app store is a REALLY bad idea (plus the fact it's a barren wasteland compared to Google Play, and most of the apps are really out of date versions).
Surely the lure of free versions of old apps is not that strong that you want to open your phone up to allsorts of Android malware nasties?

Bugger the Apps they get games too. Of course only if you're from a certain country.
Majority of the free apps are a joke.
I usually check it every day and realize they're all trash (except maybe 2 apps so far) and then I uninstall it. For some reason I get struck with the idiotic idea that I may be missing out on some good free apps, so I stupidly install it again in hopes of some decent apps...... it never happens

That's what most people think. Once you discover what Amazon are offering for free is basically stuff that deserves to be free anyway, make sure you re-tick the Android security setting and revert back to the proper Android store that Google host.

1. I've never once gotten malware and I always sideload apps. I always leave that setting unticked as do most folks I'm sure.
2. having Amazon app store or any other app store doesn't change your default android Google play store.
You want malware, go download Blackmarket apps or pirate stuff, you'll get it then. I do suggest tho, that everyone should install a malware scanner. Avast, lookout, etc.

What? Side loading doesn't put you at any greater risk of malware. You always choose to install an app, whether you side loaded it or not.
Nothing wrong or risky with downloading the Amazon app store, being able to choose a different app store is one of the best things about android. CHOICE.

[Q] Any experience with Amazon or Samsung Apps?

Hi,
I was wondering if it worth to be included in Samsung apps and Amazon store. Do any of you have experience with them?
I've read that Amazon paid installs are higher than Google Play, but they've a higher (and annual) fee.

I found Amazon pretty good. I sell there about 33% of what I sell in Google play.
They reduce 30% tax for developer out of the USA, so that's a bummer.
Well...
Started with the Amazon store a month a go. A few sales now and then but I really expected higher sales. I read that people tend to spend more money on the Amazon store than with Google Play but could not really see this myself until now.

I didn't have a good experience at all. Making even the smallest change in the developer console takes week(s) to reflect on the app's page. And my app sales there were almost non-existent. Closed my account.

This is where your marketing comes in. Amazon does well, but it ISN'T play, so you will have to kind of bring your customers there. You already closed your account, so there's no point in talking about it, but did you have YouTube trailers, did you have App Review sites mention where your app is? Did you do Social Media marketing through low cost sites like Fiverr?
These are the routes you're going to have to take if you push apps outside of the main app stores.
Hi,
In case someone is thinking about selling apps on Samsung Apps, here is a little warning...
In other app stores, developers can expect to get 70% of the sales, but on Samsung you barely get 30% of the sales.
There are huge fees, different in every country (sometimes > 90% in some countries) and you are paid more than 6 months after the sales...
OK you may get some interesting sales if you have the chance to get your app promoted, but be warned, most of the cash will go to Samsung agents and commissionaires...

I finally went to Samsung with my free apps. It requires a commercial verified account in order to sell apps. My experience with Samsung is a terrible portal and very long time waiting for updating the apps.
I've got quite different feeling about Samsung Apps (but my app is free...) - in fact it seems that right now SA makes 4/5 times more downloads than Google Play...

Yes, it worth it, even if the results are now low by far from G Play, But there is less competition and these two markets are like android market 4 years ago. They are growing fast, so if you get your apps on the top there you can expect the same success made by some famous apps on Play Store

Google Play with admob vs Amazon Store ...

I have two apps currently in Google Play, one of which uses admob
I believe that there will be a "conflict" publishing it in amazon store
Since amazon is not getting any money out of this, but google (admob) does,
amazon might ban me for not having amazon ads in my app (but google).
Ideas anyone ?

No, they don't care for free apps, but they refuse CPI ads (mainly offerwalls).
You can use admob, I recommend you to use Amazon SDK (higher ecpm and lower fill rates) in combination with admob, when one fails you call the other

5%, not "5% more" ,
For being clearer, if one day I've 100 downloads on Google Play, I probably will have around 5 on Amazon. I suppose you can consider it as a 5% more than the actual rate...
There are no problem to use Admob while publishing you app in Amazon store, but yes if you have a link in you app to you Google Play developers account.
