Boomsound in call - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there!
I am really happy with my htc one! Especially the speakers are great!
There is one thing that bugs me though: when I call somebody and I decide to talk on speakers- I experience really bad sound from the usually great boomsound speakers... There is even no beats logo in the notification bar.
It sounds like my old Gnex while in call on speaker.
Anybody else experience this? Will this be fixed soon?
Greetings

Are you on a custom rom? That might also explain why. And on custom roms with the 1.29 build, HTC neutered the max volume a bit.

Here we go again! If people are happy with their phones and try to defend it against trolls they're fanboys??
So they suck?? Name one phone with better speakers for speakerphone calls released within the last 3 months? You can't because there aren't any.
And who are "they" exactly and where are these quotes?? I haven't read one single claim from HTC saying their speakers don't suck, or that they are so loud, even the haters will love them.
The speakers have excellent sound and are very very loud.

In call sound quality

I love this phone, everything is great except the in call volume, its very quiet, even in a quiet atmosphere im struggling to hear the caller on other end, ive messed with all the settings but its just not loud enough. Do you think there will be a hack in the future to make it louder? Im seriously thinking of returning sadly because of this issue. I had the same issue with the x10i.

Horrible echo in call when rear microphone is covered

Does anyone else notice that if you cover the rear microphone while talking on the phone (I do it everytime I'm holding the phone with my left shoulder), the person you are talking to hears a really bad echo and cant hear what i'm saying??
I really hope there is a fix for this cause I hold my phone like that a lot lol

An past S3 users here?

Ok so long story short I posed in the HTC One Themes and Apps subforum requesting a louder speaker and in call volume everyone seemed to say they have no problems and the phone gets really loud. Any past S3 users who wish the speaker phone and in call volume was louder?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301143
To me it is quite a bit quieter and is pretty noticeable. I thought I would post here since maybe this is a sprint build problem (as I have discovered I have the death grip problem that mainly sprint users have)

I used to have the s3. Only thing I feel was better was signal. I jump between 3g and 4g a lot more vs the s3 where I had a constant 4g signal. Speakers are great everything is fine with my One other than the signal issue it's not the death grip either regardless to wether I'm holding the phone or it still jumps.

Maybe my S3 was really loud because of a sound mod which was included in many roms. Anyone else in the same boat as me?

Yeah, I also had an s3 and the sound mod, even at 50% would make the speaker extremely loud.
Sent from My Only "One"
S3 didn't get nearly as loud as the One can. Turn off beats if you want it louder.
Signal issues are software and are present in every HTC phone on release unfortunately. The problem is simply that it gives up on an LTE signal too quickly, not that it can't receive it.
Compare dBm with your s3 side by side.

Same here with the signal issue! This has been a problem for me since the Evo Lte, I traded my S4 for the One becasue of the superior quality build but seriously Im starting to think that LTE is more important to me than the build quality and Im very positive this wont be fixed with an update because the evo Lte still has the poblem. Terrible handoff between 3g & 4g :crying:.

Yup, ARHD 10.0. Dirty flash from 9.4. The call quality isn't great.
Is there a way to check if HD calling is actually working? It is in the build.prop!

No idea. Anyone any clue on this?
I have noticed that if you have a background breeze or it is windy the call quality drops massively. It is reproducible by blowing on the mic near the camera... Ear piece goes very odd (breaks up/drops out) after that, recovers quickly though. The same doesn't happen if you blow the bottom mike!
Okay this issue has become really annoying. I dont think its the hardware but anyone facing this issue resolved it? The callers voice keeps fluctuating and times it just goes off. Sometimes if i dont hold the phone very close to my cheek the callers cant even hear me.
Yea this is really annoying. Tried loads of different ROMs and call quality remains terrible, all muffled and unclear. Way worse than my old Desire HD.
Anyone?

Thanks for the post! I already had the same radio installed but I re-flashed it using this anyway. I tested the call quality once again, it's difficult to tell but there does seem to be some improvement, but it still doesn't sound as good as previous phones, or "crystal clear" like it should be according to many people. I will have to wait until I get a chance to properly test out a full conversation tomorrow and see if the voice is clearer.
Thanks again!
Has anyone else tried flashing this radio?

I did test the radio for like two calls. It seems like there is an improvement but I need some more time to evaluate. The microphone is the same if I don't stick the phone to my cheek people can't hear me properly. They say it feels like I'm talking from 10 feet away.

I found this YouTube review.
Sorry I can't post links, being a new user! But search "HTC One In-depth Review And User Experience" into YouTube, it's the video by Uoobe Vid, and skip to 13:06
This is how mine now sounds after the radio update. Is it not really as clear as it should be for a high-spec phone or is it just me? Calls are clearer on my friend's LG and cousins iPhone 5.
It has definately improved from before though.

Arzin, have you tried switch to speaker phone and back to handset a call? I've never had this, people have always said they can hear me fine, clear as normal. It could be the noise canceling at the back mistaking your voice for background noise when you don't hold the phone to your cheek.

Beats Leaves HTC!

That means that every HTC phone released after their deal won't have Beats Audio. That means HTC ONE MAX won't have Beats Audio...and that means that our HTC ONE might go down as the only greatest phone made by HTC with Beats.
It means nothing.

+1. He's right, it means nothing. They sold the rest of their ownership stake in the company, that's all. It doesn't even mean that Beats won't be on the devices necessarily, just that they don't own a piece of the action anymore.
It may not mean a lot to us but there are many people that buy HTC devices just because of beats. It's sad but it's the truth. Think of it like this: compare a team that is not sponsored to a team with a sponsor.

I guess it's somewhat ironic that my Phone speaker just blew, again. It blew after I had the phone a couple months or so, and it took Asurion FIVE tries to send me a replacement that was acceptable. I'm trying to decide if I wanna bother with that again or just buy a different damn phone.

It may make some of the aspects of songs sound better through the speakers, but the others, notably the mids, it certainly makes worse. If you want truly great sound, you'll never find it with beats. Try something like ViPER4Android.
HTC is the best in mobile sound with the ONE. Hard to argue otherwise. The company may have there own technology in line for future phones. Maby better than beats. I personally think beats are over priced compared to some competition they have.
