[Q] Help! Frozen on HTC One start up screen! - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I created a nandroid backup in TWRP and then hit 'reboot system' and it's frozen on the 'HTC One' start up screen. I have tried the long press power to reset and doesn't work - still frozen. I then tried restoring the backup i made and same thing - frozen on start up screen. I can get to TWRP. I don't want to reset if possible! Options?? Thanks.

reflash the rom without wiping

may not be of help but tonight I managed to get my HTC One stuck at boot logo / splash screen ...
I have TWRP but did not backup or even enter initially ...
Was due XPOSED framework - was talking as looking around in XPOSED, not 100% sure what I clicked in there but I think it was INSTALL on the framework itself ... it was already installed.
Before I could blink and think WTF did I just do - phone rebooted itself unannounced.
From there stuck at splash logo on boot.
Long story short using ADB I renamed /system/bin/app_process to ../app_process.old and then copied /system/bin/app_process.orig (backup made by XPOSED at install time I am assuming?) to /system/bin/app_process
Reboot and fine again.
I read somewhere during the above learning lesson that with S-ON with HTC One (I think it was this) the XPOSED system can be removed on restart or something like that, there was an alternative way to install / patch to prevent this.
Just thought would throw it out there in case you have XPOSED, possibly recently and it may have been zapped hence stuck like I was.
Long shot.
Best of luck.

[Q] Stuck in the Green Arrow reboot loop

Performed the Root procedure on my 1.0.1 and it worked fine (for a time being). Then the YouTube app wouldn't load. So I did the 3 button restore and the 8x restore. After the 8x restore, it got stuck in the loop. I tried the power + N reboot as well and it also didn't break it out of the loop.
Followed instructions from nookdevs.com/Flash_back_to_clean_stock_ROM
What do I do to break out of this? This is all new to me.
Considering taking it back to B&N and playing dumb. (sounds about right from what I've got myself into)
First of all, the Youtube thing is a common issue and easily fixed without doing a restore. I suggest you actually read next time instead of wiping clean.
You have to do both a data and system wipe. Do 8 failed boots and then after that wipe finishes do the home plus n button wipe.
Strange thing. Must be your bootctn which is corrupt. Try nookdevs adb command on restore to stock page when in nookie froyo to write to bootctn. Maybe this would end loop.
The command starts with "echo.."
You could also try recovery zip with clockwork recovery i. Xda dev, not sure it will make a difference though..
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Keep Trying
Take a look at my post if the suggestions and dev tools don't seem to help.
I say keep at it as I did.

[Q] Please help with my weird freeze problems! A donation to whoever can solve!

Ok so I am having some bizarro freeze problems!
So after i install a custom ROM - have tried both Trickdroid and Renovate - then when i go back into recovery and do a nandroid backup and then reboot it freezes at the 'HTC One' screen boot up. I thought at first it was a problem with TWRP so I changed to Clockworkmod and same thing!
Every time i reboot the same thing - freeeeeeeeeeeeeze at start up! I tried wiping cache, dalvik and fixing permissions and then this time it says it updates apps but then it freezes on 'updating apps'. I can get back into recovery holding volume down and power however if i then choose reboot then it freezes.
The ONLY way i can get back is to reinstall the ROM via a factory wipe and then it's the pain in the arse problem of restoring again. Then if i try back into recovery and even reboot from there it will freeze. So then it's back to factory wipe ... blergh! However if i do reboot WITHOUT going through recovery then all works and it boots fine!
What can i do?? A donation to anyone who can solve this!

either a data reset will fix your issues (maybe). or a complete restore. why even bother putting on custom roms? its only of those phones where I don't see a need. atleast in my eyes
try flashing boot.img in fastboot.
- fastboot flash boot boot.img

[Q] HELP!! I think I really screwed up!!

I just bought an HTC One M8(T-Mobile) last week and through "firewater", I successfully rooted it S-Off. Feeling confident, I thought I'd try to wipe it clean and try a few other ROM's. But all I managed to do was to accidentally wipe out the OS. Now, the screen only shows the "HTC & powered by ANDROID" logo.
I've made a Nandroid & Titanium Backup, but not sure how to get back to where I started. PLEASE, sombody throw me a lifesaver!!!!

I copied my TWRP Recovery & Titanium Backup onto the MicroSD, with a Scandisk card reader. Then inserted it in the M8, but it 's not responding. The screen will not shut off. It still shows the "HTC & ANDROID" logos. I'm not at all familiar with using RUU's, either. Is there a way you can talk me through, over the phone?

I really appreciate your help. Haven't done anything to it, since your last response, but I'm now able to get to the TWRP Recovery. Selected restore, but there's nothing to choose. Nothing in the gray field, at all.

Thanks for the advice. I decided to take it back and exchange it, for a new M8. I'm in the process of rooting this one, S-OFF, now.:victory::good:

[Q] Lost everything except twrp after accepting system update.

I've lost everything after accepting system update this morning. The only thing I can boot into is TWRP recovery. All my backups are gone, CPU won't detect my phone when plugged into usb. Hard reset does nothing but takes me to twrp. Someone please help. Phone is rooted running stock rom.

Never take an OTA without the stock recovery installed.
See the link in my post here for help..

I did the same thing, but I did have a backup to restore to. Well after the restore process was done, I rebooted the phone and it still went to TWRP. Please inform me if you find a solution. I'm still looking.
Bricked?
Same issue except I cant get in to TWRP. I get the stock factory reset screen but when I hit the power button to confirm it just restarts and gives me a black screen (screen is lit up though). I try to get into download mode by vol up + plug in usb and get the same thing, black lit screen. Is my phone completely bricked?

Try this:
1. In TWRP go to "Terminal Command" if you see something that looks like you have to select a file folder, just hit "Select" at the bottom. If you don't see the file folder then touch the middle icon at the bottom of the screen. Should make sense when you see it.
2. Once in terminal command type: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota, then press Enter
3. Then type: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc, Hit enter
*Note that the only difference between the two is the very last part from "fota" to "misc"
4. Reboot phone
Hope this helps!

Looking for a TWRP complete backup. (32-bit)

Me being me, I uninstalled an important app with "NoBloat" by accident and forgot to make a backup of my system files before booting. My home button stopped working but the back and window button would work. I couldn't get to my home screen. I restarted my phone and it got stuck into a boot loop and will not boot. I don't believe I have a way of fixing this without the backups, so I'm just looking for a complete factory reset for the phone. RUU didn't work as well. I have installed TWRP and flashed SuperSU onto the phone and that's it. Thanks in advance!
