[Q] Droid Bionic with UK sim - Motorola Droid Bionic

Hi,
I have a Motorola Droid Bionic (Android Version 4.0.4).
I got this phone whilst in the US but am now living in the UK.
I have read a lot of stuff about using Radiocomm, patches and other things to get it working over here with my UK sim but haven't had any luck so far. I think a lot of this is due to not completely understanding most of the lingo that is used in these forums.
Could someone please inform me of the easiest way to get it working. I know I probably sound a bit stupid to a lot of you on here but I would really appreciate any help that can be given.
Thanks.

As per information till date, DROID Bionic doesn't work with Asian & European GSM band.....
Reason locked by firmware...

Actually, the Bionic should work fine on UK GSM/HSDPA networks. There's a lengthy thread on the process, and yes, Radiocomm is part of the process.

the easiest way is still complex. And some of Bionic cannot work with GSM.I am in China. If Bionic's production date is in 2012,it can work with CDMA1x/EVDO only.If 2011,ok with EVDO/GSM/HSPA.

[Q] Lots of questions

So I picked up a droid 3 from verizon. XT862
I bought an unlock code, and am waiting for it to come in. I want to use it with t-mobile, people were saying to flash the Chinese radio. How do I go about doing this.
Also, if the XT860 works, why can't I flash that firmware?
Secondly, is there a "root" for the droid 3 yet?
And Lastly, is the droid 3 Chinese rom going to be the only rom i can run if I am on t-mobile?
Thanks in advance.

You probably should have researched this before you bought it. Yes we have root... a quick look at the forums shows several roms and recoveries. As for your other questions, no idea.
You do understand that you're only going to be getting edge on T-Mobile, yeah?
And, because the droid3 has CDMA hardware, its possible that the XT860 firmware may do strange things with your device.

Ah I see, no problem on edge with t-mobile, I don't have a data plan.

Droid 4 for Hong Konger?

Hi, I am currently using Milestone 2 (non-us Droid 2) and I have been using this phone for around a year and a half. I have rom the phone, overclocked it, themed it. I have juiced every drop of my phone out.
Now the "C" button on my keyboard is a bit messed up, i need press down hard so that the phone can sense me.
Now I am 50/50 about the Droid 4 ( Milestone 4), I am a huge MotoFan, and I am a keyboard fan, leaving me no choice but choosing the Dorid series. But the current Droid 4 is only 1.2 dual core, 1785 mah battery, and rubbish screen, worst of all, I am from Hong Kong, tho the Droid 4 is a world phone, I am not sure if the phone will work in Hong Kong, a GSM city.
So will the Droid 4 work in Hong Kong, and should I get the Droid 4? (Or wait for Droid 5)

The Droid 4 currently cannot be used on GSM/UMTS networks. It does have a Qualcomm MDM6600 chip which technically can support both CDMA/EVDO and GSM/UMTS networks, but you'd have to flash a different baseband which I don't think is possible at this point.

Sorry to hear that Unfortunately there is no way to use the Droid 4 on GSM/UMTS networks at the moment.
I found some successful cases in forum from China
But need to order the unlock code
Anyways i would order my xt894 and have a try
If i got luck i will tell the buddies on this forum~
Got a link for the order? My Droid 4 is coming in this week. It's at customs now. I live in NL, so trying once wouldn't hurt me.

VZW should unlock it for you if you call and ask. I think you have to have already met some minimum account duration and payment requirements.
I too am waiting for the GSM firmware. With VZW's CDMA roaming, I can go to 40+ countries, but not to Europe.
I finally got my droid4 in hand and confirm it got gsm function is working in Hong Kong!
However, I got it with GSM ALREADY UNLOCKED so I cannot tell you how to unroot it
But probably involve flashing chinese rom

I got it from a china auction website
I would like to post the info, any hot-key could take a screenshot in motoblur?
Previous key in milestone3 doesn't work here
And any way to map the 'alt key' back on the physical keyboard?
The info I gathered so far hinted the unlocking involve flashing another rom, *#*#2468#*#* and unlock the device with unlock code, but I got my phone unlocked out of box so I couldn't test it
i found this http://www.buyonsalecheap.com/motor...ocked-verizon-new-without-contract_p1190.html but it dose not look like a trustworthy site and its the only GMS Driod 4 i could find.
could you link to the site you got it from?
i dont know anything bout motoblur i have never owned a Motorola, but i do know you can take screens with the android SDK

Do not buy from that site. Its a scammers site. Not trustworthy at all.
@Disablewong I'm very curious. I too am waiting and trying to use the GSM radio on the Droid 4. Where did you get it? What rom do you use?
Do you know where I can buy an unlock code? I'm not a Verizon customer so they cannot help me. And I tried some 3rd party unlock sites, but none of them was able to generate an unlock code for me.
Thanks in advance.
There is a way to know if this device is a real Motorola Droid 4? I found some weird links about it[1]
[1] www indianexporters com / Motorola-DROID-4-XT894-unlocked-mobile-phone-sell-111965.html (I can not post links yet)
VMU,
Which ones did you try? I want to try this one because of their success with Razr and Atrix. Not so sure about a ferund though when they do not succeed.
http://sim-unlock.net/simlock/New_Motorola/Droid 4/
I tried mobile2mobile, networkunlockcodes, and unlockitnow.
I also found the site you mentioned. But before I contacted them before I place an order. If they can guarantee that they can unlock the Droid 4 I'll submit my imei.
Waiting for a reply.
Guys, will you expect the phone will work as GSM after unlocking? Or you will use it as CDMA?

The Droid 4 has been out a while so why would Verizon still stock an old version of the same product line unless it was on clearance or refurbs.
The Incredible 2 is also not on the site but it has been confirmed to get ICS.
(By the way, the only "Global ready" Android phone on VZW at the moment is the Droid Pro. Huh?)
It's no longer sold as new. Just given as refurbs.

I think this is because the Droid Pro is yet to be phased out yet like the D3 has been by the D4? ...maybe. IDK!

Which support got dropped? Are you unable to get a warranty replacement? Did not Motorola just deliver an OTA update?
That said, if definitive OS upgrades over the course of a two year contract is critical to you, your best bet going forward is the iPhone.

There probably have not been any new D3's of any variant made since the D4 came out or even before. Everything we have seen since then was probably just using up the stock already built. Any stores that still have them would likely keep selling them until they are gone.

Verizon Droid 4 XT894 with Stock 4.0.4 ICS

I recently sold my Motorola Droid 4, which before I did, stock-rooted it with ICS 4.0.4 the leaked version. My question is, the person I sold it to wants it to be used with Metro PCS, which I'm not sure if it can. I've been searching everywhere and can't find an answer. I just want to make sure that it is able to be flashed so it can work with Metro PCS and if it can't work if someone could please let me know. If any other info is needed for this, please let me know. Thanks in advance for anyone's help!

It is unlikely to work as the phone is designed for worldwide roaming. In the USA it's locked to Verizon.
Can you pick up a cheap pay as you go SIM from MetroPCS and test? Do they even do PAYG SIMs in the USA?

Thanks for your reply! That's what I was afraid of hearing, however. I'm going to check into it a little more, because I really don't know if they do PayG SIMS here. Hopefully I can find out. Thanks!

[Q] In Germany, downloaded ICS, now what?

Military dude overseas here in Germany. Brought my Verizon bionic with me which hasn't been working these past 4 months obviously. I installed the new ICS yesterday via wifi, now how do I get my Germany Vodophone SIM to work in the Bionic? Tired of using this generic piece of crap HTC over here and I still have 8 months to go. Thanks in advance!

Dont do that! They are both right and wrong...it is, in fact, global capable but is not on their official list of Global devices.
All you need to do is a minor edit to the NVM to enable the band configuration for GSM service and it will work fine.
Check the "Bionic on T-Mobile" thread for the methods and tools.
