Hi all i just got my HTC ONE today and its great been playing with it none stop and i love the idea of the TV control app how ever i am not using a standard tv receiverso the channel numbers dont match is there any way of changing the channel numbers on the phone? thanks
Yeah, head to the remote screen of the app, hit the settings button, button set-up, remote buttons. Then just use a standard remote to teach it the right commands .

Did you choose the right nation/provider when you did the initial setup of the app? If not, go in to the settings and change your provider information.

Ah... I'm not sure then sorry, good luck though, sorry I couldn't have been of more help

any updates on this? i changed to channel order on my tv to fit my needs... and even if I didn't.. my provider is not in the list...
I search this function as well, we have the channel order on our TV set for ages, and it's not quite the standard order.
Someone got an Idea?
With the new 4.2.2 update it's finally possible to change the channel numbers.
In the TV app --> tv-settings top right, --> Channel --> top right menu --> edit channel. There you can specify channel numbers and swap channels via drag & drop.

I want to know if it is possible to automatically start the digital frame app when a charger is plugged in.
Any one know how to do this?
You could probably listen for the plugged in or charging event and have a intent filter that launches the digital frame. I can try this evening if you'd like.

Update yes create a broadcast receiver that listens to the android.intent.action.ACTION.POWER_CONNECTED

Sorry to ask but is there any way to change the App?
For viewing photo's I use the much better free App 'Photo Slides' (Photo Frame) by Softick Ltd. available on The Market.
Thanks left for what you have already given.
Fantastic app, works well and means I can just put it in the dock and use it as a clock / calendar

Probably
If I get time I will take a look tonight
Edit- yes it looks like I can just target softtick.android.photoframe/Photoframe
Why do they need permission to phone identity? Or network access if they don't even have adds?

No idea... I missed that.
It would be a shame though as Photo Slides [Photo Frame] has much more to offer than the stock Digital Frame.
I personally like the Clock that appears on screen which you can control colour & size whilst having your slide show.
Ok beards here is a new version and you can switch between Digital Frame and PhotoFrame. I added an "other" with a text field so now you can launch any application on power plugin so if you find someother one you like better you can launch it instead.
To use "other" You will need to know the activity that gets called when the target app loads as examples (although I hard coded these two for you)
digiframe is com.sec.android.app.digitalframe/.DigitalFrame
photoframe is softick.android.photoframe/.PhotoFrame
you can typically figure out the target by viewing logcat during or immediately after launching what you would like to target. easier to find target if you filter for tags "ActivityManager"
I also made a cheezy icon for y'all.

I've noted your comments to remind me should as you say I change to something different at a later date.
just released, it works on my Incredible with AT&T, anyone try the Xoom? I know they are working on a honeycomb version but was hoping it may work on Xoom if you pull the apk
I was able to use the web browser version. It is a flex application, so it runs flash. Gets laggy sometimes if they're sending high quality video, but it is watchable.

Thanks! It's working on my Droid X. Couldn't find it on market for this device...
The only problem is that I don't want to pay for HBO and extra data. If I'm in the position to get WiFi, I'm probably in the position to watch TV. Sounds like a good thing for subscribers at a hotspot. I hope it works great.

This came out before its release date and they got the android support way faster than I thought they would... looks like HBO has their **** together, so I don't think we'll have to wait very long for honeycomb support. App runs great on my epic, quality is better than you'd expect for streaming, really looking forward to this on my xoom.

I've heard that on the Xoom if you go to hbogo.com you should be able to use that until they release the tablet app. However, when I go to that site I can't do anything. It has 4 squares: "On Your Computer" "On Your Ipad" "On Your Iphone" and "On your Android Smartphone" but none of these do anything when I tap them. I don't see anywhere to log in either.
Website works for me.... but id like a app

i cant watch from browser either, which browser are you using?
On the HBO website from Xoom, you have to use another browser, like Dolphin, and specify a desktop agent in settings. That will get you past the page you are referring to, but, I am not able to log in to my directv account - the window inside the page doesn't allow text entry.
Or in Xoom browser, in the address bar, type debug:about, then go into settings - set UA to desktop. This allows you to get past the initial page, but I can't type my Directv login information in the popup window.
Anyone able to get around this?

I don't have a Xoom. Just the OG Droid. I also get the message that it isn't supported on my device. I read a thread that said that putting my device in airplane mode before opening the app, then launching would throw a network error. At that point, taking my phone off of airplane mode and then trying again lets me use the app.
That got me thinking there must be something calling home reporting my device model. I set my phone for WIFI and I had my router log what URLs were being called right before the failure. The one that stood out was this one:
catalog.hbogo.com/apps/mediacatalog/rest/settings.json?category=an
So I had my router block that specific URL. Presto, damn thing works on OG Droid with no issue, at least on WiFi. Is there any way that URL can be blocked on the our devices instead or can the APK be modified to not call that URL?

Won't work as the app has other things it needs from that site. Blocking the URL itself though does the trick though.
Take care...

Dear developers,
I bought a special lamp a few months ago.
It comes with an ir remote to change the colour , eventually i runned out of battery power 2 times wich is pretty enoying. I have an htc one , i controll my tv with it
Its also tru ir and works fine. I searched on the appstore for an app witch controls my ir light so i can also do this with my phone. But i cant find any only tru wifi ore bluetooth. The remote o have says 2.4 ghz while the htc one has 2.4-5 ghz. So this shoud be posseble right? So if anyone knows an app i can use for this. Please let my know!
Thnx for your time !
Greetings from the netherlands
You could always just download a TV remote app, and use the manual option to setup the "power button, vol up, etc." Your app ui will show those buttons, but it will actually use the buttons you programmed instead.
It will work at least until you find an app specifically made for your remote.

Thats true , but still this is woud be so usefull for me.
it would be for powering my lamp on and of. but the colour changer is the feature wich really shoud be on it.
If anyone know one please let me know
Do you stick with the stock option (WatchON) or use a different one? If so, which?
50/50 for me. I use WatchOn that came stock on S5. The original one had some minor problems (couldn't change channel) that the new one does not. Looks uglier but works better.
So technically 'Other'.
What still ticks me off about it is the need for an internet connection when I launch the app.
Smart remote

Mine always asks, but still allows me to get the full remote, just no show preferences. There is also a way to add it to the drop-down menu.

How very weird. I guess it wants it the first time you launch it, after that I've kept turning on the wifi for the launch, then turned it off. Just tried it, both WatchOns start without trouble. I feel a bit like a doofus. The S5 one no longer even asks.
Also smart remote here. It's not the one with the best looks but at least it's supporting all my devices - not just the sammy-sanctioned ones. And I can create custom remote layouts just the way I like them
So I have no access to WiFi unless it comes from this damn phone.
I don't know what this notification is all about but it's irritating the living hell out of me and it won't go away.
I have no WiFi network available to connect to and besides I have unlimited data and I don't want ANYTHING requiring WiFi
How the hell do I fix this before I lose my freakin mind?
Long press on the notification and select app info to see which app is requesting a dictionary update.
Some apps like the Google Play Store and Amazon App Store have settings that will not update apps above a certain size unless you are on WiFi. Disable that setting or set it to a higher limit.
If you find out what app is causing it, look in that apps settings for a similar wifi limit.
My Droid Turbo is doing the same thing the app info points to download manager....system application! UGH!!!
Same here, I even connected my Turbo to my work's WiFi and updated it and still I am getting this notification.

Maybe a fix for y'all
Try going into settings, language and input, click on the 3 bars to right of goggle keyboard. Select text correction. Then select add on dictionaries. I had to click on each language till i found ones i don't use and deleted. Also found one with blue bar trying to update. I was able to click on it then selected cancel. . I clicked on it second time and selected delete. So far has worked for me been about 14 hours since did that.
I also had this happen today. When I got home it downloaded and too about 2 seconds.

This did not work for me although it did lead me to the discovery of several dictionaries I have no intention of using that showed 'installed'. I was able to "delete" those dictionaries but they still show on the list as "available." Right now the only dictionary showing 'installed' is "English" but I see no indication that it's attempting to update, i.e. there is no progress bar or visual difference between it and the others on the list.
Disabling notifications for Download Manager obviously does get rid of the notification area icon but is an imperfect solution as, usually, I do want notifications from Download Manager. Anyone come up with something else that's working?
doesn't work

Unfortunately, it is a coincidence that it works for Google keyboard. The problem still exists for my phone and I don't use the Google keyboard only the Samsung one.
Go to Language and Input then Voice Search.
Click Offline Speech Recognition, then Auto-Update.
Change it to Auto-update languages at any time, instead of Wi-Fi
Then go to Text-to-speech output,
Click the Settings icon (looks like volume sliders)
Click Settings for Google Text-to-speech Engine
Turn off Use Wi-Fi only
