Hey guys,
So here I will share on how to get facebook HOME on your xperia z .
STEP 1 : Root your device
STEP 2 : Download buildprop editor from the play store (FREEEEE)
STEP 3 : Edit your buildprop like the following :
ro.product.model=GT-N7100
ro.product.brand=samsung
ro.product.name=t03gxx
ro.product.device=t03g
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-samsung
Note, please make sure you know what was the original build prop for future use ( I took screenshots to remind myself)
STEP 4 : Since Xperia Z has facebook pre installed, go to \setting\apps , delete Facebook.apk (make a backup)
Now you can uninstall facebook via settings ( it will show uninstall updates, but the app will be removed completely)
STEP 5 : go to play store , download facebook app, log in, go to settings, scroll down, check if you have the facebook home option , if NOT , please check the above steps to see if you made any mistake, if YES , dont do anything, just get out of the app (DO NOT CHECK THE OPTION)
STEP 6 : download the leaked facebook home apk ( im not eligible to post the link, so please get it from androidpolice)
STEP 7 : Install home, enjoy, everything working fine, on my XZ ...
STEP 8 : If ya dnt mind , Hit Thanks
nice guide.
well done
personally don't use facebook anymore but still really usefull for others to know.

Funny, I tried that initially but didnt work out for me... reason being that the the 'signatures' of the facebook home and facebook apk had to match, they didnt match on my phone even after i disabled/removed updates n all.. hence removed it completely...
The Facebook Home APK did install and work. However the Chat Head doesn't seems to work. Messages do not pop-up on the home screen.

once home is installed, open the settings (settings for home), go to messenger settings, enable sms/mms and anything else you need. Should work then.
Also, some users report a bug about chat heads missing, hopefully thats not your case
Sorry for my misinformation. Messaging popup on the home screen but chat heads is not working though... Did you get it to work?

Glad you got it working, do post some updates tomorrow ciao
There is a 'cracked' version here on xda where you don't have to mod build prop. Just saying
Here's my steps to get it work.
1. Uninstall and remove your facebook and messenger if you have already got it install. If you can't uninstall it, get titanium backup to remove it.
2. Extract Facebook Home from coolapk.com and side load it.
3. After installing the Home, launch it. It will redirect you to download Facebook from Play Store.
4. While downloading and installing Facebook, download messenger as well.
5. When everything is completed, launch Home again. It will ask you to login to Facebook. Once logon, wait for everything to load. You should see the top row where it ask if you allow the Home to replace your current launcher. Allow it.
6. Now you should be able to go to your messenger to popup your chat head. Tap and hold on any of your contact and select popup chat head.
Happy facebooking!

this doesn't work if you have a pre-installed facebook app though?!
Thanks for your work, but i dont like FB home..
Facebook Home is listed in Play Store, so you can install from there directly but in order to make XZ work with it, the above modifications still need to be done. Remember to screenshot or write down the original value before you made a changes.
Cheers.

Went in and changed background on facebook app and pandora...now my facebook account is gone and won't come back and pandora widget disappeared. All I did was change backgrounds...ideas?

Mine did the same thing running kaosfroyo v32. Not sure about Pandora, but for Facebook, go into the Facebook app, go to settings, then under other settings where it says sync contacts it probably says "don't sync". Change that and you should be good. You may have to go into your contacts and manually link them, but it should work. It worked for me.
You may have better luck with an answer if you post in the Q&A section, sorry I can't help you though. Hope you solve this.

My best suggestion would be to uninstall Pandora, remove your Facebook accts on Settings and resync Facebook. Make the changes you want, then redownload and install Pandora.
Had this issue as well for Transparent Chaos. A couple different things might help, one, rebooting. Two, make sure that when you change something in Market apks, it often helps, or is even necessary to sign the apks. Apk Manager is helpful for this (suggested by Daneshm90). So, all that combined with jsuh's suggestions should put you on the right track.
Problems I Have so far that i can't seem to figure out.
1. When i go into gallery it shows photos that have recently been uploaded by people on facebook, I don't want this
2. With the Zoe camera, when i try to do the "Sequence Shot" when editing I get an error that says "Unable to continue there are not enough images to process"
3. Flat out cannot connect this with my sony smart watch anyone else had any success
Hi, it works perfectly fine with my Sony smartwatch, had to put watch in pairing mode first by holding down the power button for around 10secs once power is off watch, and had to download the liveware and smartwatch app etc from play store.

I think where Zoe is concerned, you need to have enough movement in the shot or it can't process enough images, i was getting that error when i first tried it out, but after a few attempts seemed to get it right, camera still and enough movement in shot.

I thought if you removed Facebook just from the gallery, then only that particular functionality
will be turned off(photo syncing in this case), bit of a let down really. HTC should've kept
gallery and calendar synchronisation separate.

i think it only works on CM10.1 or 4.2.2 devices. if you are using LG stock no harms trying still.
Download Facebook Home from Play Store, open it. On the default screen it should tell you FB home is not ready/available for your device yet
Below this notice there should be two buttons. One is something like 'Open the Facebook APP instead'. And the other 'Use Home anyway'
If you doesn't get the latter option then you can't use it 'officially'

You were right I tried it on stock LG JB and it didn't work I couldn't find the app in the Play Store. Then I succeeded with the apps at the start of this thread and it works :good:
As you guys may know, Google has integrated all their communication systems into the new Google Hangouts and it is started to rolling out.
Just wanted to let all root users know that you don't need to wait to get it as for some your Google Talk isn't being updated to Hangouts currently. Like if you have Talk currently and you go to the playstore and search hangouts it will say you already have it installed and you are updated to Hangouts even though you only have talk.
If you use something like Titanium Backup to uninstall Talk from your device, you can then go on to the playstore and be able to download and install the new Hangouts app.
I don't know if this has already been mentioned as I haven't seen a thread but just wanted to let people on to this little tip if you want to get it right away!
EDIT: I'm thinking now I might have probably posted this in the Themes and Apps forum, but I wasn't exactly sure if this should have been posted there as this is just a general tip. If any Mod wants to move this please do!

You don't need to uninstall Google talk... You can use the Web Google play to install hangouts and it will automatically replaces the old talk or obtain the apk file from the web and install it over the Google talk.

I agree. I really miss the who is online and who is offline thing. You can VAGUELY tell by the contacts picture being grayed out, but that sucks compared to a red dot. Hit the menu button in the hangout app and hit send feedback. Request for this feature to be put back in.
Had problem today
Solution: http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...s-cant-sign-updated-solution.html#post2789468
1.Use some app to take backup of Google Play Services (ES File Explorer can do it for you) and save the apk locally. This is recommended because after the next step you may not be able to connect and re-download the update over Mobile Data. It would work on WiFi however.
2.Go to Manage Apps > Google Play Services
3.Do "Uninstall" / "Uninstall Updates" for Google Play Services
4.Google Hangout will automatically ask you to Install or Update Google Play Services.
5. If you "Uninstalled Updates", then the app would update over Mobile Data when you click on update in Google Play. After this go to Step #8
6.If you "Uninstalled" the app completely, you wouldn't find it in Google Play. So install it from the backup created in Step #1.
7.Now go to Google Play and install any updates for Google Play Services.
8.Now open Google Hangout. It may still show you a connection issue for a couple for times.
9.Don't lose your heart. It should work after you try for a maximum of 1-2 times.

disclaimer: I'm stealing the title here from thafngame24's post because it's the only one that came up after a long series of google searches with my exact problem.
The deal is, until recently it seams, you were able to have your user avatar in android sync with your google+ profile pic.
Here's a quick and easy how-to of how it used to be:
http://veecards.com/blog/how-to-enable-google-contacts-sync/
But now the "Contacts" menu item along with "Keep contacts up to date" option is gone.
Currently I'm on Build version 9.8.0.151187131
Anyone else have this issue?
I'm having the same problem right now, I've tried to search for a solution but without success, I can't seem to find a way to link my google account to my android owner user account...
I have resolved by downloading and installing the 9.5 version, you can then enable that option and let the app update

This works, thank you
I also tested it by updating the app as you said, then changing my profile pic in g+ and it changed in android. Win!
Hopefully newer updates add this back - or at least hopefully they won't break the connection that's still there in the background.
