Hi there, I am a noob to this forum, so apologies if this thread ends up in the wrong place!
I purchased a Sony Xperia T on Monday (17/12/12) after my HTC Desire broke
So far a great phone, I just get fed up with all the adverts on my games! I want to root it and just get the standard 'apps' for rooted phones ie. AdAway, Titanium Backup etc.
I rooted and installed custom ROMs on the Desire with no problem, but I can't seem to do this on the T. I have scoured the net for tutorials and guides and everything else, but nothing seems to be working.I am trying to use Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v4.
I follow the instructions to the letter- choose phone, insert USB, choose restore, and wait... sometimes it reboots, others it just does nothing. Even when it does reboot, it still doesn't root.
Specs:
Model Number= LT30P
Android Version= 4.0.4
Baseband Version= 8960A-AAAAANAZQ-10015019-19
Kernel Version= 3.0.8+1.0.21100-02477-g0d376f4
Build Number= 7.0.A.3.195
I am on UK Orange/EE
USB Debugging is enabled...
Sorry about the long post, I wanted to give as much info as I could so I can hopefully get this done.
In advance, thanks :fingers-crossed:

you cannot root 7.0.A.3.195 unless you unlock your bootloader.
check Q&A section for all in one thread (sticky), everything in there.
You CAN root .195. Firmware but that needs some work. Just go to the all in one thread in the questions and answer section and read that thread. It has every info you need for rooting.

i think i was pretty clear in answering his question.. and pointed him to Q&A thread.
Welcome to the forum. Please make sure you post in the relevant section to what you're posting about, i.e. all questions belong here in Q&A.
Also the best thing to do is always search first as gregbradley has kindly put together an all in one thread at the top of this section which will help you with most common questions.
Thanks

If you did it without unlocking the bootloader or without flashing a prerooted stock image through CWM please share because those are the only methods that I am aware of currently working.

There is a method will documented in the q&a, requires flashing. 303 and rooting, installing cwm and then restoring a 195. As mentioned above, check the all in one thread.
The following link gives info, please search first.

Thanks everyone, 'thanks' has been clicked
Before I do this a) is there any way to 'unroot' the phone, as it voids warranty etc? And b) is it a huge improvement on stock, unrooted? Looking at the posts mentioned it appears to be stable, but just want some feedback from you guys.
Thanks guys

I'm with you on this one Spec. If there is a direct way of rooting the phone without the round-about way. I'm all ears.
Hi,
I have a Xperia T with bootloader unlocked (which removes warranty) and a custom rom, but I want to lock the bootloader again and go back to the stock ROM. I don't know which ROM it is because my friend did it all for me, but he is not my friend anymore and doesn't want to help me with my phone. I dont want the custom rom because i dont see any use to it and some things dont work like WhatsApp and the camera.
So my questions are: Can i go back to stock ROM, if so how?
Can i Re-lock the bootloader so my warranty will be back. Or at least a way to hide that i have had a custom rom?
Thanks in advance !!!

Then you got to be a bit more careful... :/ Did your freind not tell you that you would loose warranty?\
Just flash greg bradleys rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007736
Read the instructions for unlocked bootloader.. flash probs the advanced stock kernel... then his rom! it seems to be based off stock but a bit better! as i dont know if yo ucan go back to official stock sony or not sorry i dont even have the T yet im jsut basing off my experince from the x10
Flash kernel boot into cwm (pressing volume down repeatedly i think)
Flash the rom and reboot!
I take no resposibilty..

No he told me i could remove it. Also, do you lose warranty for physical damage? Like i have a case on my T but on the corners the matte is coming off a little? I dont know why i care for it very well!
I can't unlock my bootloader, sadly
Unfortunately, a lot of people are complaining about the matte finish peeling off. I for one have it on the lower left corner, and I really baby the phone. I don't even put it on hard surfaces but usually on a school workbook.
Anyway, you can find a lot of information in the following threads:
-All in one Q&A thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903137
-Matte coating peeling off: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031472

I dont know how you can remove it... i dont think theres a way to relock bootloader as of now.. i could be worng though! Maybe check out s1tool or osmething google it! And no that issue has been reported its not your fault... if you cna get your bl relocked you can send it back to them for that damage \
Try this to relock bootloader.. but read the whole thread as idk what it could do to your device...

Again i take absolutley no repsobility here!
Thanks. Hopefully Sony will replace those devices.

Search for flashtool version 0.9.9.0 and download.
Download .ftf file of the firmware you want to flash and place it in flashtool firmware folder.
Start flashtool.exe and follow instructions. Leave all boxes ticked (wipe dalvik, user data, baseband etc)

Hi I don't understand do I have to make separate threads for each of my questions? Also, when you move the thread where does it go because I can't find it. How many times is the maximum for asking a question and how many threads can one open on 1 day.

You can open multiple question threads in Q&A section but if all your questions pertain to, in this case, flashing a ROM, a single thread should do.
Also, keep in mind that many of the members of this forum will not answer simple generic inquiries. It is up to you to search the forum to find the answers, if possible.
Thanks for responding. I have found a way to get back stock firmware.its via the official Sony flash tool. But when I try to hold down the volume down button I go into ROM manager cwm based recovery and then it doesn't recognize my phone. Please I don't know what to do. I have cyanogenmod paranoid android 2.56. I don't know what that means but maybe its useful

Read the all in one thread carefully. All you need to know is there. Yes I know it's a lot of info, but before you do anything you really should read it or else you might brick your phone if you flash the wrong stuff.

Hello Users!
I've got ICS 4.0.3 V10h. I've unrooted my O4X and got CWM.
My three questions are:
1. What should I do next to unlock the bootloader?
2. Is it really necessary to be able to load custom roms and / or mods?
3. How can I update to official rom (if ever ) to JB if my phone is already unrooted?
Thanks in advance for any answers or links

Every rom or mod have specific requirements.
They are specified in the tutorials, soo... The answers for that are on the tutorials.
You can be a nice guy and ask mods to close the thread, or wait until it starts to be useless and flooded and someone report it to be closed .

Flash stock firmware 1st (this will wipe your memory card so backup everything to pc)> boot the stock firmware and copy the rom zip> flash a stock kernel trinity or something that has a recovery> start the aroma
then it will it work. If you have any problems or questions PM or reply
Flashing stock firmware will not wipe memory card.

just wondeing.. what device versions are supported on this? since I got c6943 and I'm thinking about flashing my device to this ROM.
Hello I have a big problem. I customised this rom by installing apps. Suddenly the device restart and after that all settings lost. The SD card is not mounted. Only under /storage/sdcard1 visible not in the regular view. I try to symlink /mnt/sdcard1 to /mnt/media_rw/sdcard1/ but not working. Also remove and insert sdcard not working.
Is there any way to bypass email exchange security ?

Does it works with locked bootloader too?
There is any tutorial to make this job for the argentinian version when it's released?
I could not find any tutorial to do what you are doing, and i would like to do it myself, at least the striped ftf part, for the flasable zip i found one

work on both bootloaders, locked and unlocked
i have already posted the .242 version of the argentinian claro version (first release for the c6943), sorry but i dont pretend to do with the customized argentinian .270 version
what i did it's pretty instinctive, i just used the prfcreator to create the flashable zip from the ftf file with xposed zip, 4k zip mod, recovery and root(you can see on the main image of the post)... then i create a ftf with flashtool without "system" and "ta", actually if you have some minimal experience it's pretty simple, hope i have helped you
Thank for the fast response time
Here's another two questions
When you make the big full ftf (not the striped one) in flashtool you exclude some files or you ut add all files and don't exclude anything?
on other subject
This rom is full wipe or i can maintain my apps and data?
