It's not all negative let's start positive the screen is incredible just like my nexus 10. Feels uber premium. The i.r blaster is fantastic so is the camera. But my god it certainty is not fast ,internet and Google play store load with snails pace. Only have the phone 1day and very few apps are installed. Big change from my nexus 4 In this regard. Any ideas ?

I have 135 apps, about 25 of these are games, about 10 real gpu and cpu intensified. . .cant say its slow for me. Its alot smoother than my Tegra 3 One X, and thats no joke. . .
I have had no lags at all with this, not even once! Have had our for a month and a bit now

Mine is very fast turn your wifi of on your phone and turn it back on if not remove your wifi network and put it on again
As other owners have said the phone is quite fast, however browsing the internet and Google play both rely on phone network or wifi, so I would suggest you check network or wifi signal strength and speed.

My HTC One is so fast it makes my Nexus 7 seem sluggish.
Hopefully the new Nexus 7 will be even quicker.

This phone is awesome but as many will agree the ICS update has many flaws. And I do not feel it is right to leave the HTC vivid in this condition. Here's why:
1) ICS has been officially updated since our 4.3 release, fixing many bugs.
2) Many games as well as other things lag a great deal and being this a high end device we should not be experiencing lag on games like gun bros, MC3 among many other games where rapid fire guns lag the device to were the game becomes unplayable.
3) All of the other bugs mentioned on other threads.
Yes I am happy we got ICS but it was a quick patched release, and the phone deserves a better more complete Rom release for those that don't root.
Please sign this petition stating any issues you are expreicing with ICS sandwhich for the HTC Vivid, so I can then send it over to A&TT and HTC tech department. Because if nothing is said the phone will be left in its current condition.

1. One I attach exchange to the phone I can no longer install APK files, rendering humble bundles or app development ruined for me
2. Graphics are lousy for how much hardware is inside this handset, I suspect the drivers are to blame.
Now that the HTC One devices are out, I don't think that they will care, they have already moved on from the vivid.
Thankfully we have XDA
I haven't had any problems with lag. My phone is actually pretty fast thanks to WCX Rom. I haven't gotten into a lot of games, but my GTA III would slightly lag when I was on GB. Now that my phone is on ICS I can play the game with all the settings up without any lag. I might understand if you're not rooted and well, that would actually be more helpful than waiting for a petition to be approved. That is if it ever does..
I'd like to see the voice dialer replaced, the wifi bug gone, an lte toggle, crt and overscroll animations, and the sense 4 launcher. I doubt we'll ever see that from at&t or HTC but hopefully a developer on here can make that happen.

I can't root or anything because all of the methods here require a computer which I don't have. I'm sorry but I'm really pissed because I'm on stock ics and a lot of my payed apps now lag as well as free ones. My wife's pantect burst puts my phone to shame with no lags ever. On stock my phone is crap.

Have you tried a factory reset and reinstalling? Only thing I'm experiencing lag with is several third party keyboards and that's an ics issue. All apps run fine on my phone and its fast. Overall if we just had an lte toggle I'd be happy

I agree with MC3 lagging. Prolly Gamelofts fault since it chokes on my buddies ATT Note and Skyrocket (same SoC) but all the rest run flawlessly like Dead Space, Riptide, Nba Jam, Shadowgun, Sonic Episode 4, GTA3 etc.
Otherwise, im really happy

Getting a new one in the mail and I'm not upgrading it until it gets fixed. Gingerbread is a more stable all around release. Just noticed as well HTC custom swype is not on ICS. Since ill have both versions ill post a review of both.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
All I can say is gingerbread is better in so many ways. Here's my list:
1. Battery is 50% better meaning I get twice as many hours on one charge.
2. Keybroad vibration doesn't glitch out. Meaning it vibrates on every keystroke.
3.All menus are the same color, green making the phone look better.
4.Apps load and respond a lot faster.
5. I have way more ram available almost a half a gig free
6. I have a lot more system settings available.
7. Sense is better, like the news app has a lot more options.
My list can go on, the only cons are the new features ICS has but I can use third party apps for some. ICS is slower and HTC released a poor update, I over the "i got ICS hype". It sucks, I have both systems side by side and tested them all day long. Sony was right gingerbread wins hands down. Now I'm happy with my phone.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah but the gingerbread launcher blows. You can't customize the dock, folder support is intact but not as refined and your forced to have 7 home screens whether or not you want them or not. Course you could always just use adw

Does the screen really eat up that much battery? I do keep my screen on a lot from texting to social networks. Would a deferent kernel possible ease the screen usage or is that how much power the screen consumes with a pretty good amount of usage?

Yes ,
I turn auto off and run it about a 1/3 of the way and in the dark I turn it even Lower sometimes and the batt seems ok ,
If I was constantly doing stuff on the phone at that rate I get a good 3-3 1/2 hr and Im talking actually sitting with the phone on and doing constant stuff for that long .
Thanks for asking - I find that my display battery usage is just as high!
I'll have to try the auto off. Auto dim doesn't seem to work that good. I guess ill experiment after work with a different kernel and see if its any better this morning. Thanks for confirming

Hell, I'm guilty of something similiar... every HTC One I get my hands on, I go to MYHOIAN's ebay site and try to get it SIM unlocked. Why? I'm not travelling overseas any time soon or jumping GSM carriers here in the States. ... I just want it unlocked! And... $3.50, really, can't beat that price.

I think the app that got me there was Lux. It's a smart-dimming app that adjusts your screen brightness. You can also set what % you want your screen at for certain background light levels. I really like it.
Anyway, can't think of anything else I did to get that result. Much much much better than the One X.

I have a question about Wi-Fi calling too. Does it save battery compared to not using it?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I don't know how you're not getting such screen on time, to be honest. It's obviously dependant on what your usage is like while using your phone.
With me on stock kernel, if I'm just browsing around XDA or the internet I'll get around 8 hours screen on time (at least from how long it seems. I haven't confirmed and actual length of time so it could be less or more). Whereas if I'm playing Shadowgun Deadzone constantly, I can still get around 5 hours screen on time with 4 hours constant play of it.
If I remember, I'll get some actual proof of my stats over the next few days.
Dont worry about it. Even I get about 4 hours only. This is with 25% backlight indoors and 75% outdoors and heavy regular use. We dont have wifi calling or anything like that here. It is on 3G HSPA+ network and I get just above 4 hours of on screen time till battery goes below 10%. Lot of people disable lots of stuff like automatic syncing and turn the brightness all the way down. I dont do any of that. My gmail, twitter, drive, G+, Pulse, Hangout are all running in background syncing and doing their stuff (the only thing I have done is to tell G+ to upload only on wifi ).
7hrs screen time is easily achievable on this phone with 12hrs + uptime.
Theres a dedicated thread on this already if u wanna go read how guys are setting their phones for this.
My use is as follows to get 7hrs...
*Wifi only browsing (no mobile data)
*Auto brightness during the day and low at night.
*Eliminate as much wakelocks as possible by not using auto syncs in apps etc.
*I'm rooted so i use "Greenify" to make sure apps go into hibernation after I close them.
*I use Titanium backup to freeze bloat ware I don't use.
Apps such as Skype, Facebook, Viber etc etc are Known drainers so keep an eye on them if u use them.
There prob more that I can't think if right now but with the above set up, you will easily get between 5-8 hours screen on time.

This might sound crazy, but I'm wanting to sell my gaming pc to get a nice gaming phone. I had 2 phones in mind, the HTC one or the galaxy s4. Now I know the galaxy s4 is faster cause of the 1.9ghz quad. But for a fact its not better. Because of the HTC one having the front speakers and the metal body and with HTC sense I just love it. Anyway my main question is will the HTC one keep up with games for awhile cause now the nexus 5 is coming out and the note 3 is already here. Also if I get the HTC one which one would be the easiest to s-off. There are a lot of companys that have it. I won't be activating the phone but I will be wanting to s off and unlock..etc. At the moment I have the HTC evo 3d and its good. But mobile gaming is going to get really nice and I'm on my phone much more than my pc anyway. So yeah..the HTC one is what I'm aiming toward but just for some reason i am not sure. Last thing is-will I be able to push the HTC one a lot more with over clocking the GPU and CPU? I watched a video and the highest they got was 1.9ghz cpu if stock is 1.7 why does it mess up only at 1.9? I was hoping at least 2.3ghz to sorta be up to par with the note 3. Anyway I know this phone is still a beast without overclocking if its to much of a hassle for it. Thanks for any help I get. You will be thanked.

HTC is still a top tier phone. It is rootable and easy to s-off. If you install a custom rom and kernel, you can over clock the cpu and gpu up to it's maximum for gaming. But in doing so the battery life will be horrible and the phone will heat up quickly (because of it's metal body). I would recommend this phone 100%.

You can overclock it to 2.3ghz... but the benefit is only extremly minimal! You burn through your battery life.. not the life time for this one cycle.. you **** up your battery if it gets too hot for a longer period of time.. so my advice.. overclock it only to 1.9 if you really want to then you should be good to go
And what about over clocking the GPU could it be about the same speed as the adreno 330?? Also should I wait for the nexus 5?

well it does have the next step over in processing power, and should technically be better at what you want it for, but i still think that the htc one as a whole better package even with the "older" 600 is still a powerhouse that should hold up for a good amount of time into the future.
get the htc one. the s4 may be clocked faster but also has tons of bloatware preinstalled.
Thanks guys. Heres another thing. Please tell me why the HTC one max is using the same parts as the HTC one? It makes no sense..imagine if it had the snapdragon 800 and the adreno 330. I do agree that the s4 is nice and installing custom ROMs will fix the bloatware problem. But one fact is, the HTC one is better than any other smartphone as of now simply because of the front speakers. When you are playing a game you actually feel like you are in it. But god.....I wish the one max was improved performance wise still.....

Hello folks. Firstly I need to clarify I am in Australia and it's summer so it is damn hot here.
When I use GPS Google maps nav it only takes a 15 minute trip and the phone is so hor it almost hurts to touch the phone. I run it 24/7 underclocked with elementalx kernel at 1.2ghz with super cool profile.
Thing is I have experimented with very low clocks during GPS and I have found 600mhz or 594 to be exact is the lowest I can go where Google maps still functions ok and the phone doesn't burn up but still reaches up to 45c.
Is there any thing else I can do ?
