Baseband_xmm_power wakelock - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hey I have a problem with battery drain..AGAIN! My battery drained over night abnormally, over 20%. In BBS paerial wakelock was audioout_2. I resolved that with installing an old version of viber. After that, the phone was working almost 2 days without problem. Then anothe problem occurred.. Yesterday,I charged my phone to max, killed wifi, cleared RAm,did the fast reboot.. Over the night it used 34% of battery!!! In BBS, partial wakelock it said baseband_xmm power! How can I fix that?
I have to say, this JB sucks! This never happened on ICS...

It seems to be tegra3 issue that randomly pops up. I've found no solution yet

i got this wakelock too, factory reset did not solve it

When I woke up and so the wakelock, I just rebooted the phone and the wakelock was gone, and so far it is not a problem anymore... But I still dont know what caused that...

I keep having this problem as well. Rebooting temporarily fixes it but it comes back after a while. A solution would be much appreciated.

Same for me guys, I would like to add that I'm using the Zaiben ROM; are you using that too?
The reboot didn't fix the problem on my phone

im using portuguese 20A, and i can´t get rid of this damn wakelock, sometimes it goes away with a reboot, but eventually comes back...

I'm on Asia 20A with the same problem. 26% lost overnight. Not good at all. In ICS it was like 6% overnight, lol.

Dunno but in official bootloader unlock thread it needs you to be connected to real network for some time then I would say there's a way to monitor that time and maybe this is it - maybe it disappears after bootloader unlock

my bootloader is unlocked

My baseband_xmm_power wakelock is showed in kernel wakelocks but in partial wakelocks there isnt any wakelock worth mentioning.. But over the day, when i turn wifi on and do a reboot it doesnt show at all..
Thats my biggest problem,it shows up randomly...

I have the same issue, 6.6%/h battery drain last night. And the big problem is baseband_xmm_power. I check my wife phone (not tegra device) and "baseband.." not even in the kernel wakelock. I read somewhere (forgot the site) it's tegra kernel problem, and after they install custom kernel the problem with baseband is gone.
I'm not developer but I wish lg will release kernel source now, so somebody can optimize the kernel asap

Mine's unlocked too.

is that JellyBean 4.1.2 got bug?

It seems to affect a lot of the Tegra 3 devices, however, I owned two Optimus G's (they're not Tegra 3) and they both had issues with battery drain too and it also had to do with the baseband. I surely hope my next LG, which may be the Optimus G Pro, doesn't have these issues.

Hello
I've been encountering L2_hsic and a few other related wakelocks for months (even years), ever since updating my I9100T to ICS (which I did the minute custom ICS roms hit web).......
I searched around and found out the l2_hsic wakelocks are generated by a kernel file "/drivers/misc/modem_if/modem_link_device_hsic.c" which is also responsible for rpm_hsic and tx_hsic wakelocks.
From there I went to CM git and with help from their IRC channel I found the source code for their version of this file:

A explanation from anirudhgargi what hsic is! (09/06/12) post 264 :
anirudhgargi said:
HISC is the interface that connected the main Soc processor ( Also called Applciation Processor AP) to the modem ( 3G or 4G if there are two modems separately )
HSIC is used the standard USB core library. And it is stanrd given by usb.org. The HSIC by itself consumes very less power and is one of the very power efficient and space efficient ways of interconnecting chips. Currently common to Qualcomm and Sammy Exynos architectures.
The reason you seeing too many HSIC wake lock and other wake us's is due to the fact that the HSIC interface is waken up by modem (Normal scenarios are also so many) .

I have the same kernel wakelock l2_hsic in my phone when it is otherwise idle... no idea what it is though, but in my feeble understanding it means that the phone never gees into deep sleep - and that can't be good can it?
I have the same problem of the l2_hsic wakelock popping up and eating battery. A reset always cures it for some time but it eventually appears again... Very annoying, I hope someone figures out how to get rid of it..
Same here, l2_hsic keeps my phone awake. It's seems to start at some random point and never "switches off" again until I reboot the phone. After a reboot it takes usually takes a couple of hours before this lock reappears.
Never saw this lock on GB, btw.
I'm having the same issue too. Has anyone figured out what it is yet?
I gave up.
Went back to Gingerbread using PC Odin and flashed a pre-rooted LA1.
Installed Mobile Odin Pro and flashed official LPY using Everroot and the 2 injects.
So far it has been running nicely with no wakelocks worth mentioning.
Disclaimer: I am a noob, what i have done might be unsafe and stupid.
same problem here. I also have not found a solution, even though I force-stopped all installed programs it was still there. Bad thing, it reduces my battery life from about 3 days to 14 hrs :/
i have a bunch of random kernel wakelocks that randomly start up and keep going. l2_hsic is one of the worst offenders tho.

Update: Phone is doing great now, with uptime of about 36h.
L2_HSIC does show up in kernel wakelocks but only for about 10 minutes in this 36h period.
Yesterday it seemed like my note cured itself, the l2_hsic wakelock was up for about 10 minutes and after 19 hrs I had 45% left. Without changing anything today it is worse like before. The Samsung-Support did not know what to do except for a factory reset, but I'd really like to find a better solution.
It seems like a restart cures the wakelock for about 24 hrs. I restarted it 1 hour ago and until now the l2_hsic hasn't come up...
you mention "2 injects" -- what are you referring to there? I did the LPY flash via mobile odin pro, but still have the l2_hsic battery drain issue, so perhaps I can try the '2 injects'?
edit: oh, SU and everroot?

You're right. I have the same problem. A reboot fixes it but it's always back when you least expect it. You only notice it once the battery is down by an inexplicable 20%
How do we bring this to the notice of someone who knows how to fix it.
On gingerbread I have other wakelocks. "gps" and sometimes "fuel_alerted".
I joined the club and have this strange wakelock too ^^
Only 4,6% though, so it's no battery drain but regardless of that i was curious and wanted it removed :
Hope there is a more permanent solution for this than rebooting
I use the LPY rom together with CF-Kernel LPF. I had the l2_hsic problem too. For me reflashing the kernel with mobile odin resolved the problem.

I stand corrected, it DID come back, L2_hsic startet some 4h ago and never stopped again.
I've had it, I'll switch to CM9.
When on charger, it's always awake at 200Mhz...
I've read somewhere that if you unplug from charger with the Note in "sleep mode", it will not enter Deep Sleep.
I had the fuel alerted wakelock because the bat was down to 5% and charged it and unplug it while screen off.
Also had the "no Deep Sleep" problem, but after I've started to wake up the phone prior to unplug the cord, it sleeps like a baby (2 days with usage) and always deep sleep when screen is off (checked by spy cpu).
Hope it helps...

Unplugging while "Awake" is not the solution.
My phone goes into this permanently awake state randomly after upgrading to ICS. (I am stock, and upgraded via Kies...never messed with this phone before). I too noticed the L2_hsic taking alot of time.
I have made a concious effort to investigate this, and I can confirm that unplugging the phone while "awake" as a solution is false.
Not once since I discovered this problem have I unplugged while sleeping, but alas, I am again in a zero deep sleep situation.
Back to restarting this stupid thing every 2 days after finding my battery draining 15-20% in some short minutes.
I abslutely love this phone!!! Best in the world hands down!!! I love ICS!!! But if this problem doesn't go away, I am giving up! Samsung is both the best...and the worst!

New ICS UK official release battery drain

Manually upgraded over stock non rootable CarPhone Warehouse GB rom using PC Odin.
Im getting very bad batrery drain. On the stock GB rom my phone would easily last two days with moderate use. Now with the ICS rom its draining pretty fast. I took it off the charger approximately 1.5 hours ago and with little to no use Im already at 90%. Same stock settings and same apps. Only difference is I am now using Apex Launcher.
I noticed wifi constantly on even during deep sleep but i have now configured it to only be on while plugged in.
Ive pulled he battery out for a few minutes and that hasnt helped. One last thing im going to try is revert back to GB and then wipe, clear cache and upgrade again...
Any advice/help would be appreciated..

Best to check battery percentages.
Next to these two apps you can check badassmonitor or equavalent, they have also good measuring for actual battery usage per app.

I did an "factory data reset" before and straight after i upgraded to the official UK ICS.
I did read if you use the alarm clock, it keeps your phone awake, even after you disable it, other apps most likely do the same.
Below is a picture over night, I always manually enable/disable wifi/bluetooth/gps as have yet to find an app that works correctly.
John.
Yeah tipically you would be looking for the following:
If your device goes into deepsleep at all. (on battery that is)
You can check this with cpu spy.
If it doesnt check the kernel wakeloks (high level) and the partial wakeloks (zoomed into detail level, best level for troubleshooting).
Anything there that runs often and long is probably causing the deepsleep insomnia. I wish Android would be better in able to determine what really influences your phones battery.
Next to this, some apps you can change synch settings (within apps itself, e.g. facebook etc) Thats just a typical change. every sync uses energy, and wakes up device.
Another possible check is the power on of with airplane mode.
Another tip is unchecking the sounds when touching touchscreen (a bug from the old days of android, and they never fixed) this is a major wakelock causer and by default turned on.
I usually get 4~5 hours nonstop onscreen time after tweaking it (without setting to much stuff of, otherwise I could have gotten a normal phone lmao)
after factory reset and data wipe on your galaxy note please calibrate the battery both ways...horizontal and gyroscope.
This will definitely help your phone better monitor the battery and bring it to normal status..

After upgrading my note to UK ICS release the battery is drainig like anything.
Its like 1% every minute .
After applying steps mentioned in the url its not draining that much. MAy after some more recharge cycles it will be more stable.

Big battery drain and Partial Wakelocks from Keypad and its SMSDispatecher service.

Hello. I updated my T to a JellyBean a week ago. My bootloader is unlocked and I have stock kernel with TWRP.
My problem is whenever I boot my phone soon or later I get massive amounts of Partial Wakelock time from keypad and SMSDispatcher.
I have root and I installed better battery stats. Yesterday it showed me about 9h of total time, about 7h of deep sleep and... about 4h of partial wakelocks which was mainly caused (about 95% of total partial wakelocks time) by SMSDispatcher. I provided some earlier screenshots from BBS and Settings. It shows only 30 minutes of SMSDispatcher time but it's still quite big amount of time in comparison with ICS where this problem never occured. On the secons BBS screen there is huge Alarm Manager time but it does not matter, below there is still SMSDispatcher messing with my phone.
This is what I already tried:
1. I did a fresh, perfectly clean flash, I did not reatore ANY data from ICS at all. Nothing has changed.
2. I did not remove any system apks and there was no effect.
3. I removed the same apks I removed on ICS (I don't use most of them) and there was no effect.
4. I flashed .195 FW ICS baseband (because I had problems with low signal) and there was no effect.
5. I tried to wait as many users say after such big update we must give our phone somw time to optimize everything. I waited a week and guess what... there was no effect.
6. I wiped Dialer/SMS/Keypad data and there was no effect.
BUT! I did something interesting today. I turned off Airplane Mode for about 4 hours and left my phone in my locker at my job and what? Wakelocks disappeared! There were absolutely NO signs of any app waking up the phone.
I'm very curious what the hell is going on. There are no signs of any similar problems on the net. Please help me of you can. On ICS I had amazing battery life, sometimes the phone lasted even for more than 2 days without charging.
Please post your ideas. I think I tried almost everithing to fix this, without result...

SMSDispatcher is obviously handling the SMS, keeps track of an SMS that has been sent to the Radio Interface Layer (RIL is a layer in android which provides an interface to the hardware's radio and modem), until it it has successfully been sent, it is awaiting a delivery status report for some SMS that has bean sent, it is retrying to send a previously failed SMS message, and more ... so it might have anything to do with any of this.
So when your phone is in Airplane Mode you are not using any radio/modem and that's why you don't have WakeLocks connected to SMSDispatcher.
I don't know what can you do about this, it may have something to do with weak signal and the phone keep trying and failing to send something, or it is constantly awaiting some delivery report but it's failing because of weak signal or something ...
To be honest I'm just saying some random stuff ... maybe you can try and disable delivery report, delete every SMS if you have any ... I don't know

Bump and another update...
After going back to 4.0.4 .195 FW the problem started to occur even on the old ROM and it didn't before switching to JB. But it's not in so big way, but still it occurs and it's really strange. 22h on battery and 58 minutes of smsdispatcher waking the phone. Very annoying.
However I forgot to tell you that I always use GSM only option in settings. And after changing network to WCDMA only there are no wakelocks at all! But it's not comfortable to always use 3G because it drains more battery and there are problems with the signal strength here where I live.
Again the same question - is anyone able to help me?
Problem solved. It was my old SIM card's fault. It was more than 6 years old and I had to manually cut it from mini-SIM to micro-SIM shape. I probably damaged its inside structure or something. I went to my carrier and requested a new SIM card factory cut to a micro-SIM shape and now everything is ok! No strange wakelocks at all!

Battery drain no matter what i do

Even without sim card, the battery still drains, drained 10% every 5 hours. ( even wifi is off it still drains)
According to BetterBatterystats, the highest wakelock count in partial wakelock before is *backup*, (removed after disabling google backup)
The most wakelock right now is SuperStamina Xssm, it can be stopped after disabling Stamina mode, but even i did , this battery still drains.
any way to solve this? airplane mode also drains battery, basically nothing works from stopping battery drain.

How little do you expect the battery to drain? What are the current wakelocks right now? Are they still the same?
Can you use Wakelock Detector instead? The Xperia SP's battery might not be as great as you think....
Let's just calm down, and of course, help can never be demanded. Maybe your phone has a hardware problem that none of us can solve.

The only way I can think of is deleting the .apks related to wakelock

Why wait so long?
Take your phone to a sony service center(or where ever you bought the phone) and let them have a look at it, might be that your battery is just not working properly. They will replace if it for you.

they said it's normal for a phone without sim card to standby 2 days without using it
i personally think is software problem, i tried drain the battery down to 0%, then charge it full without break,
after that, the battery drain is just godly, after 2 days left 98%, but then the battery suddenly started to drain like hell,
after 5 hours it became 94%, then it keep draining down as usual.

not sure if backing up ta and flash cm is the last resort, i'll go with aokp but there's no official built for sp yet.

If all the app draining apps are closed and alsoare bluetooth screen brightness and wifi.
The problem may be deeper.
Your kernel may have flipped and its draining this much battery i am not sure how to check it but i would not suggest you to flash a new kernel right away just because i think thats the problem.

for your information, see this graph, 2 days with good standby, and then went from 95% to 35% in less than 20 hours
this problem is occuring with stamina mode on or off, nothing works
edited: reflashed another stock kernel, will see how it works

[HELP] " Battery Drain " Z1 after Bootloader Unlock?

Hey guys,
I'm facing battery issues on my Z1 C9603 after unlocking Bootloader ( and then changed ROM/Kernel ). Now I'm having this issue with every ROM or Kernel, stock too. I'm not saying the Battery is dead that lasts 2-3 hours, but it just goes down really faster. I mean, before unlocking Bootloader, phone lasted 1 day and also 1 day and half, not it lasts just half day or a bit more, the difference is huge..
I think of course this problem is also caused because of the wather here, I live in South Italy and the weather is REAALLY hot so the phone sometimes is overheating, and so less battery duration, I think it's normal. But is THIS ALL caused by weather? To me, the difference is to huge and it can't be possible.
What can I do? Will in case relock bootloader solve " in part " the issue?
I hope you can answer me. Thanks!

Your battery is most likely going bad and is needing replacement. Unlocking the bootloader and having the battery drain afterward isn't possible. Screenshot your battery stats after your battery drops from 100% to 15% and post.
If you flashed a custom kernel, use Kernel Auditor and use power-saving profiles like using different hotplugging solutions and CPU governors. This will hopefully squeeze more time on your device.
