Phone is locked, how to reset - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Managed to lock my phone yesterday when I was drunk with some code I don´t have. Can I reset the phone in some way. And yes it´s my phone I have a receipt, it´s not stolen

errr if your phone isnt updated to the newest one try the following method
To enter your locked phone:
-Click on emergency on the lockscreen
-enter *#*#service#*#* or *#*#7378423#*#*
-go to service tests
-select on NFC
-select nfc diag test
-wait till its all done then you should be unlocked to your homescreen.
-go to settings and try changing your pw if your remember your current one.
-when youre all done go to homescreen and click on the recent tab button on the bottom right.
-clear all recent tasks
-you should now be locked and try to input ur new pw
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you cant remember your current PW to change your PW.
-backup your files.
-go to back up and reset in settings and click factory data reset.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought there are some pw that requires user to input a secret answer for some question.
well, you were probably too drunk to set one up anyway lol.
anyway, gl man!

I can´t reset it because I need the password I don´t have to reset it

First: can you enter you'd phone with the above method?
Then reset your entire phone by doing a factory reset under backup and reset.

Yes I can enter the phone with that method but when I choose to reset it wants a code to reset

You can try googling a better way if not I don't know any other better way other than going to pcc or seus to do a repair of your phone.

Is your phone rooted? Maybe you can remove the lock screen apk (I'm not sure pin codes, patterns etc are under that apk) and install the original one back after a reboot.

Maybe try from the service menu, there is customization settings-reset customization.
Or maybr use flahtool to wipe you data only.

It´s the screen lock which is activated, is there any way to deactivate it without having the code?

I don't know why it's called " lock " if you can deactivate it without the code

Flash CWM and delete data. It is the same as factory reset.

FIX for anyone having "Confirm Password" issue on Boot:-
1) Just enter some wrong password multiple times
2) Then a Warning message will appear telling you it will remove all SD Card data
3) Type something wrong again!
4) Let the SD Card get wiped.
5) Then the system will bootup properly next time.
I just did one more *2767*3855# Full wipe after bootup.

Could that be the encryption password!!???
I was testing my device against a MDM (Mobile device management) system called Afaria, where I work and have enabled encryption in the policy applied to the device. When I got the enter password dialog box I entered the encryption password and the device accepted the password...

[Q] help hard resetting LG-KU5900

I have an LG-KU5900 the name of the carrier is Olleh (korean) that this guy gave me as payment for a debt he owed me. He forgot to take out his lock code on the phone and now it's asking me for his Google account ID and password. Looked all over the web for hard reset instructions and nothing. Does anyone know how to do it on these phones? Thanks in advance
(btw is it possible to get it to load in English instead of Korean?)

Factory reset it (Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset). Language just choose english when booted and entered setup wizard or (Settings > Language & Keyboard Settings > Select language). But be warned Factory reset will erase all settings and installed applications.
I can't even get to that since the phone is password locked. Is there a different way to get the phone to hard reset? I have tried many things like pressing volume down and power, home button and power, but nothing

Do you have adb? nd are you familiar with adb commands? Cause if the phone booted and let's say the previous owner enabled USB debugging, you have a chance you can factory reset. With no ClockworkMod installed, using adb reboot recovery factory resets the phone. With ClockworkMod on the other hand installed in your phone can get you a menu to factory reset.
I've tried KU5900's KDZ. And I cannot flash it with R&D Tool. Your other option is, Flash the KDZ with KDZ Updater. There is a thread for LGKU5900 here.
Flashing Tools > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111771
LGKU5900 kdz > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357478
Flashing via KDZU will not remove password lock!
Use R&D Test Tool and THIS guide. It makes Hard Reset and clears codes.

My bad, totally forgot I was flashing it to P970 via R&D that's why it failed. And I flashed it via KDZ updater and used adb reboot recovery to factory reset it.
Yeah, KU5900 kdz to KU5900 phone, the R&D Tool is you option. But servers are down, I think B2C won't work. Try when the servers are up.

[RESOLVED] Please Help! Forgot Lock Screen Password - Unrooted!

Apparently i've changed my lockscreen password this morning which i'm sure i remembered the changed password but i could not access into my phone ever since. I've gone through the forum for the possible ways to resolve my issue but i couldn't find the best way to do it as some threads are most probably out of date.
I would still want my data to be kept therefore i did not perform the factory reset. The data i would like to maintain are my contacts and pictures.
My phone is unrooted, it's probably not usb debugged as well. I'm unsure of the firmware version of my phone too.
I did not try to root my phone yet because I am not sure what I'm doing and am not sure if i can actually root it when my lock screen is locked.
Please advise on how i can resolve the issue without losing my data. I do not mind having an option to copy my data out from the phone storage before resetting my phone though.
Thank you!
Updated:
Apparently i had registered my phone with a samsung account which allows me to unlock my phone via the "where's my phone" through the Samsung website. I did not root nor factory reset my phone for this, but i still appreciate everyone who replied to my post! For anyone who is having the same problem with me and unfortunately did not have an account with Samsung/gmail, you might want to look through the suggestion below! :good:

Ok, first of all You have to root Your phone with this file: http://adfoc.us/4207233512571
Put it on Your external sdcard, reboot Your phone into CWM (volume up+home+power) and flash it. Great, now You have root.
Since You don't have usb debugging enabled You will have to use aroma file manager.
Before running aroma file manager in CWM make sure You have data mounted. (mounts and storage->mount data).
If You have it installed go to: /data/system/ and delete such file as "gesture.key" and some other "*.key" files in case there are some others.
Ok, now You should be done. Reboot Your phone. If it won't boot You will have to flash good kernel, but I think this should work.
One more thing, reseting data won't delete Your pictures as they are stored on sdcard and contacts are probably synced to google account.
In case You had some questions or problems just ask me.
I'll answer as soon as possible. If You will need some faster help we could talk on Facebook or Skype.
There are too many ways to reset your lockscreen.. I will give you the easiest way (Make sure that you are using the way I will give for your own phone, not someone else phone, as we don't want to get in trouble..!!)
1. Download @Phil3759 custom recovery from here (the zip one).
2. Download [updater-script]_Remove_LockScreen_Security.zip from attachment in this thread here.
2. Put both zip files in sdcard
3. Reboot to recovery mode by pressing and holding Power button + Volume up + Home button simultaneously.
4. Once you are in recovery, flash Philz recovery.
5. Reboot to recovery mode again (press and hold Power button + Volume up + Home button).
6. You will be in Philz recovery now, just flash [updater-script]_Remove_LockScreen_Security.zip which will remove the lockscreen security.

[Q] Galaxy S3 i9305 stuck in bootloop after installing CarbonROM

Hey guys.
First time rooter and poster.
I attempted to to root and install a custom rom on my Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9305 last night after multiple assurances both from friends and online that its a simple, fool-proof process, and now I think I've bricked my phone.
Through Odin 3.07 I ran CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.tar as per the instructions. The phone rebooted and loaded into CWM recovery mode.
From there I did "wipe data/factory reset", "mounts and storage--- format /cache" and "advanced--- wipe dalvik cache". All operated without a hitch.
I then installed from SD card "CARBON-JB-NIGHTLY-20130910-0745-i9305.zip"
Again, it seemed to install without any problems.
Once that was done I attempted a "reboot system now".
The phone reloaded to the Samsung screen with a small red exclamation mark in the top left corner... This is where it stayed.
I pulled the battery to reset, and reloaded CWM recovery mode (volume up + power button + home button).
From there I read that I should've done another "wipe data/factory reset" after the install, so I did. I also read that a "format /cache" can help, so I did that too.
When I attempted another reboot it goes straight to download mode and from there I can't do anything...
What's going on??
Thanks in advance for any help.

Update: I thought it was fixed. Turns out, not quite.
The phone now boots and operates as it normally would but for some reason cannot read that there is a simcard inserted.
I've tried to the simple on/off, take it out/put it back in, but its still not recognizing that there's a simcard inserted.

Punching in *#272*imei# doesn't do anything. Pressing dial after punching it in just tells me I have no mobile network.
Then I realised the "imei" must stand for something, looked it up, punched in *#06# which is supposed to show me the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number, but it just popped up a window saying "null/null".
Have also tried your other suggestion of reflashing stock after a system wipe in CWM. No change.

Read up some more about restoring the IMEI and finally, using ODIN flashed Param_Bin_I9305.tar.md5 and its back and operational again.
Now comes back to the original question, why didn't the CarbonROM work and what can I do to make it work???
Thanks.

did the root operation succeeded
you should check with that. may be it was not rooted at all and that may be reason for the soft brick
after rooting check with root checker
and follow the instructions correctly mount system and data before flashing anything in cwm
and one more thing check on rom home page may be any requirements and do check with other kernels also

I9000 - factory reset intended, but recovery asks for PW then?

Hello,
found an old i9000 in a friend's "electronic trash" box. No SIM or SD card in there, phone still working (boots into PIN enter screen).
Now I wanted to toy around with it, see what custom ROMs can do to that old beauty - but upon entering recovery mode (Vol+, Home, Power) and selecting the "Factory reset" option, I get asked for a PW. All the tutorials on how to hard reset the phone never showed the PW request - is there some way to bypass it? I would hate to discard a phone that is 100% good from the hardware side of things -
thank you very much in advance,
Mirrorblade

Thank you - that actually did not help, as I still needed to enter that password on rebooting.
But when crawling the web for the exact "confirm password" phrase, I found the solution:
"Just enter the PW wrong four times, that will cause the data to be deleted". Did it for me, then
