[Q] Is it possible to unlock a sim locked HTC ONE? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The title says it all.
I just want to buy the ONE from O2 in UK and use it in another country.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, although I and others on T-Mobile have had difficulties but o2 should be fine.

I have a theory that we might beable to unlock it... , i think the code maybe stored somewhere within the phones partition memory...
Ive done this with the desire C so id be happy to give it a go if someone has a Locked One ...

Would we need to be rooted?
---------- Post added at 05:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:53 PM ----------
I was reading up about how the unlock code for the one x is found. Will this be similar?

That old method no longer works, the unlock code itself is encrypted now

Hmmm... But maybe there is a way around it... I'd hazard a guess there might be..

Who has received the HD7 8107 update?

I have T-Mobile USA and have not received it. T-Mobile USA says 7720 is the latest for the HD7, yet some folks say they have it. Do you have it, and did you force it?

Got it. Forced it. Followed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
Got tired of waiting. It was easy and the phone works fine.
Also forced mine, but can't find the article. I'm not unlocked.

Ok, all you need to do is read the rest of the article, especially update two where it states if your phone and setting no longer work to flash the language pack in the same way.

That is because you are not able to force the Firmware update that is pushed with this - it is the firmware update that fixes the MAC address issue. Surprising that T-Mobile US are not pushing the update for just this reason, pretty sure it is against regulations to have the MAC address changing!
I received a replacement HD7 and the tmobile rep swears the latest software is on it, I will post back shortly.....

I suspect it will be latest available on T-Mobile network, ie 7720!
Just got 8701 without forcing but got a zune notification instead. Bootloader upped too. Surprised.
Unlocked TMO HD7.
TMOUS updating the HD7 today finally. Got a total of 3 updates. 7740, then 8107, followed by an update from HTC. Not sure what the HTC update did. Anyone have any ideas?
Its the firmware fix that fixes the MAC address changing on reboot...

Anyway what is the error? No signal? Sim undetected? What else?
Pls tell us more....
And imported device will never be blocked in any country (Except stolen device...)

Nobody will help you here with changing IMEI. It's against xda rules and there's a very good reason for it.

The phone is detect the SIM card or not? If not, then your phone sim slot has been faulty (loose or bad contact prong). If yes, you can use search network function.....

Okay. I'm sorry I can't be of much help. Actually, I bought my phone (Sony Xperia Z1) from China, and it works perfectly here in India. Dunno why your imported one isn't working as the C6903 model of yours is compatible with Indian networks too Anyway, keep at it, I'm sure you'll find a way

MetroPCS should be the T-Mobile version, at least to my knowledge. I believe MetroPCS is a prepaid company owned by T-Mobile.. Just as Boost mobile is the prepaid version of Sprint.

The T-Mobile OP6t is dual sim

I took some pictures after looking inside my sim tray and its definitely the same hardware as the dual sim phone. This makes sense as OP is not big enough to make carrier specific versions like that just yet. I am pretty confident at this point we will be able to flash the international rom unless they block the tmobile bootloader version specifically.

We don't know if there is an IMEI on it TBH because the software version or modem could be blocking it. Until we can get the EFS partition backed up and load the international version it's hard to say. I am more concerned with the fact its the same hardware so the international software should work.

The first three reps for Tmo gave me that link and all ended up denying me. I just informed them I was leaving the country and needed to unlock it to use out of the country. The last rep okayed it. If they gave you this link, you may not have any luck with the rep. You may have to try again with different reps. Again I tried 4 times and only on the 4th was I approved.

This is definitely a YMMV situation &/or T-Mobile is tightening up on any loopholes (less actually calling/requesting a SIM Unlock).
I just tried it (on JOD,FWIW) & even went as far as factory resetting my phone to get the app to work at all & I got an Unlock Failed (error 255) response for the Permanent Unlock request.
Reason I had to do a Factory Reset to get the app to even work at all is I uninstalled com.tmobile.pr.adapt via ADB command, only way to bring back is a reset.
It was worth a shot to reset to try it out,no biggie.
Congrats on getting the SIM Unlock on your phone @jch9678 :good:
I may call my Team Of Experts tomorrow, see if they'll perform their magic & unlock it permanently.
I don't expect them to,being on JOD, & I wouldn't blame 'em,it's all good,regardless of outcome.
If I get to a point where I feel I absolutely must SIM & B/L unlock,I'll either pay it off or get an unlocked version.

I was told that they could do it after 14 days for me and it would be a one time thing done as a courtesy. That's the best luck that I've had with T-Force personally.

We will have to see for ourselves. It wouldn't be the first time a company rep is clueless.
As soon as my bin file is delivered I'll be testing it out regardless.
Wait so let me get this straight, some of you got TMobile to unlock the phone WITHOUT paying it off? So keep trying on Twitter? I know those guys are pretty helpful on there.
