[Q] cant root my SGSA XXLQB - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so i have decided to root my SGSA but when i go into recovery mod it doesnt show any root.zip even if i have already copied it what to do??

You copied the zip file to your ext sd card? Also make sure you don't put it in any folder. Must be in the root of sd card.

[Q] Accidentally deleted external_sd folder

Hello there!
I've just deleted the external_sd folder in /sdcard with the Windows Explorer. Now Android isn't able to recognize the external sd card... there isn't an external_sd folder anymore and settings says "not available" - formatting doesn't help.
Windows still recognizes the sd card with an adapter.
Please help me and sorry for my bad English, I'm still learning
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S I9000 and CM7
thanking you in anticipation
Try to format with windows

Tryed this already...he just says "Prepare SD card" (or something like this - I don't know the English translation) and "Searching for Errors"(same here ^^) on reboot and nothing when I insert the sd card...
I already tryed a factory reset an reinstalling cm7 via CWM - no external_sd folder :/
Try with this apk:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.xregroup.formatsd
Regards
Thank you, but the app didnt work...no external_sd folder and i cant access the sd card ....

You could try the following:
Code:
su
mkdir /mnt/sdcard/external_sd
Using either a terminal app or adb shell
restart the phone and maybe it'll mount the external SD?
Or general reset device, or complet reflash firmware with pit and repartition...
Regards
Looks like its the link in the internal sd card TO >> external sd card >>>that you have wiped .So the card cannot be seen as the link no longer exists that points to the external card .
Just back up data and factory reset .
jje
Neither Factory Reset nor creating the folder and reboot worked...
I hope there's a solution ...
I flashed XXJVK with bootloader and repartition - and the sd card worked.
Than i flashed cm7 - factory reset/completely new - and the sd card didn't worked...
Why can't CM7 identify the external sd?

If you read CM7 bug list it says that you can't use external SD.
But it had worked...I used my external sd until i deleted the folder.
Why did it work ?

did you ever install jv1?

no i just flashed jvk, juwe's and than cm7
According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039129, it's maybe a permission problem. I tried to set the permission of /mnt/emmc to 777, but it resets after a reboot.
iam a total newbie. but i read sumwhr that creating a folder with name "external_sd" and rebooting might work. so try that

Rooting Error

Heya,
I have installed CWM on my Phone but it showing me just a few options like format SD card, install update from SD card. but it doesnt show me "Install from SD card".
What should i do? Can I try rename any rom to update.zip then install it?
I got Samsung Galaxy S I9000
Thanks
You need other kernel. What version pda do you have ? Dont need rename the rom. You need install a kernel such as semaphore.
Yes of course. You can rename it to update.zip and put it on the internal (!!) sdcard. This should be the root directory when using original "My Files" app from samsung.

I'd advise going with 1 or 2.
Don't rename the sdcards as it may cause problems....

Repartition your sd card. Not format, repartition. There is a guide on xda, just search repartition sd card. You will lose data on it, so copy it to pc.

You need to re-partition it, not to format it. Guide is here.

Hi, thanks for replying, I have another query. Do I have to do a complete partition of the SD? Or just remove any kind of partition you have?

You need to repartiiton whole external SD card. Do not do that with internal memory, just external sd.
And stock recovery needs external SD card, if you do not have one it will not recognize anything.
