Normally, the SquareTrade warranty is $39.99 and $49.99 for the 8GB and 16GB models, respectively (all values in USD). If you buy the warranty through their Nexus 7 landing page (http://www.squaretrade.com/nexus7) you'll get $10 off, so $29.99 and $39.99. Offer expires 17 August 2012. The warranty is good for 2 years and includes accidental coverage from handling (spills, drops, etc.). They can also adjust the warranty to start when you actually received your Nexus 7, not when you purchased it.
Searched their site for a minute to get some details. There is no deductible for tablets. Shipping is free both ways. Once the parts and labor for any repairs reaches the original purchase price of the device, the contract is considered fulfilled. If it is damaged beyond repair, they will cut a check or make a paypal deposit in the amount of your original purchase price and consider the contract fulfilled. They guarantee 5-day turnaround. 5 days from when you ship the device to them, they will have it repaired and shipped back or pay you for the device. There may be other terms that I did not find on the site, or that I simply forgot but it sounds pretty good to me. I'll be purchasing a plan since I will soon have 3 kids under 3 years old. Who knows what's going to happen to my precious Nexus.
I just wanted to share this discount with you all since I haven't seen it posted yet. For those lucky enough to be able to find a one-time-use 30% off discount, thumbs up for you! I couldn't find any that weren't used so this is my best bet.
Also noted that under the pull-down for Maufacturer there is no Google, so I'm assuming te choice will be Asus.

I don't usually purchase warranties, but this looks pretty promising. I'll have to try this out when I buy my nexus 7 in august. Thanks
Worth Ave Group covers theft as well and costs $47.50 with 15% off coupon (15OFF).

You can usually find 20% off (which is what this offer is essentially) but they do 30% as well, and I know from working with them that they do pay. My daughter borked an old Nikon compact camera and we shipped it to them and they cut me a check for cost of the item. No fuss or muss.

Yes. Asus is the manufacturer. I love squaretrade. I buy all my warranties from them and use the 30 percent off code they send me. I got my warranty on my own Nexus 7 for the $34.99

Ah, nice! How are claims through them? Quick and hassle-free? That's the most attractive part of SquareTrade, to me. I'll check them out before I buy, though I've never needed theft/loss protection in the past. Thanks for the tip!

No problem! Took me a minute to find this discount as I don't think it's advertised anywhere on their site. I even looked up the normal costs and still saw no mention of it. $40 is worth it, I think.

I haven't filed a claim with them but their reviews seem to be pretty good. You do have to submit a police report for instances of theft or vandalism and if your device is stolen from your car, there has to be signs of forced entry. Also, it doesn't cover loss, just theft.
Most premium credit cards like Discover or Amex have a 90 day accidental damage, or theft coverage policy automatically applied to purchases on the card. They also double the 1 year warranty to 2 years. I have used it before when my puppy chewed up a new pair of expensive exotic leather boots and the process was rather painless.
Personally, I'll probably take the risk on skipping a paid warranty. These devices have a pretty short lifespan for me before I rotate it out for the next newest thing.
Just purchased the warantee for my N7/16GB.
I'd really like to take advantage of this but if I bought my nexus 7 off of craigslist then am I straight out of luck? Not sure what the purchase date is and where it was purchased from (but it is an 8GB so it has to be from the Google Play Store right?) I also don't have the receipt.

It did show August 17, I tried to go thru my cached pages for yesterday but couldn't find it yet. I'll continue and if I find it, i'll post it and maybe you can call them up directly.
I never buy any extended waranty. In Canada there is a mandatory 1 year manufacturer waranty. If an electronic device does not die in the first year, it will most likely live it's designed life (there a a statistical probability for this). Most electronic devices "die" because they become obsolete not because they stop working. To pay $40 for a $200 device, is just trowing money out of the window. My 2 cents.

While I agree with you.... people don't buy this for the increased warranty, they generally buy it for accidental damage insurance.

I have young children. I am careful, but sometimes I make mistakes. If something happens a year and a half from now, I would get the full purchase price back, even though the tablet would have depreciated in value.
Back when I had no kids, yes, I would consider it a waste. Now? Not so much. Thanks for your help though.
Just a general discussion to get this going.
Got my HTC One M8 ordered. Coming from the Evo 4G LTE. I had an upgrade and was waiting for this phone to release.
Was about to until i noticed only Machine Gun Metal color was only available. I think i want gold.

I think it will be a few weeks until the colors get to sprint. Maybe around the April 11th time frame. The gun metal color is awesome IMO. The amber gold looks flat.
I'm getting it - but I'm wanting the silver color (like the OG One.) and Sprint charging $250 on upgrade is kind of ridiculous. I'll be getting mine likely at BestBuy or Radioshack in the next two weeks or so.
EDIT: Verizon's $199 on upgrade AND they have a bogo deal at the moment. Sprint's slapping us in the face.
The wife, little sister, and I all got our EVO 4G LTE around the same time and we're all due for an upgrade. The wife wants the gold one (or the rumored red one) but Best Buy's gold phone page seems to be down at the moment. There seemed to be some incentives last time around ($50 or $100 extra off through some promotions) but I don't see any of that now.
Really wanting the phone but I'd like to see what the big box retailers are gonna give with it.
I ordered one from Sprint, because Im on a business plan, Best Buy and Amazon can not offer me a discount, so I was forced to pay the $250. Nice thing is the are doing free shipping and waiving the activation fee at least.
Im coming from an Evo LTE

Online it was $249.99 for an upgrade, but when I called in to Sprint Telesales (1-888-882-4030) there was an additional $50 mail-in rebate bringing it down to $199.99. They charge a shipping and activation fee bringing it back up to $247.99, but I was able to get a manager to price match the free shipping on the website to bring it back down to $235.99. All in all, between all the attempted upsells for TEP, screen protectors, cases, Samsung Galaxy Tabs, Sprint Buy Back, adding another line, etc, the manager intervention, and having to listen to the full terms and conditions the phone ordering process took 30 minutes (not including time on hold, which was minimal). I also let them talk me into an Otterbox (but I can return that to my local Sprint store if I don't like it).
If the website was waiving the activation fee it would've almost been a wash.

I think I'll be ordering mine pretty soon. I've been on the gs3 for a while and I think it's time to give HTC another run
I was really hoping the light silver was available on Sprint...Looks like just Gunmetal and Gold Amber will be available.
UPS says thursday! I say it's not fast enough!
I ordered mine around 12:30 when the listing first appeared on Sprint's website. Only gunmetal 32gb was available.
A few minutes prior to this post I got the shipping confirmation. I should have it by end of business on Thursday.
I'm upgrading from my M7, which I got via a third party. If I were staying true to my upgrade cycle, I'd technically be upgrading from the Evo 4G LTE.
I'm counting on this community on getting me a root method before the end of the weekend. Comon ladies and gents... don't let me down!

Went to Walmart and they price matched it for me! Walked out with a new Galaxy Tab S 10.5 for $399 and didn't have to wait for black Friday.
The price is down to 379 now. Happy price matching!
hey give me credit please.............you got it from ME on slickdeals
I figured I wasn't the first one to find it. The Internet is a pretty big place
just kidding, glad you got the deal as well.
You got lucky there was an idiot working at Wal-Mart when you asked for the price match. bb price is still 499 for new. The link you posted was for a GSCR which is for a Greek squad certified refurbished unit!
....... Paid 499 for lol! Someone got real lucky!

Wait so you guys got it at bestbuy or walmart at 399? Brand new?
I got mine at Best Buy for $379.99. I went in and asked for a 16 gig white Tab S 10.5. When he told me the price, I showed him the print out and even the link. He didnt even bat an eye lash. It wasnt until after I posted that it was realized that four letter word stands for refurb. So its a ymmv deal but it also
does not scream refurb anywhere so you might have an argument with management. (refurbs are usually much more clearly labeled) See my receipt here to show what they gave me and the price: http://slickdeals.net/f/7367948-sam...-white-379-better-than-black-friday?t=7367948

Nice, I was curious what Best Buy would do. I was even going to go as far as trying in store pickup but decided to go the Walmart route instead. I didn't know it was for a refurbished unit, the page gives absolutely no information about it.

Your so lucky! I would of wanted one for that price!
Do a search on Ebay.
BestBuy/Geek Squad is selling Refurbished 32 gig Titanium color model for $379 Shipped to you no charge. Bought mine last night.
This deal is rather tempting, but I am also waiting to learn how much the Dell Venue 8 will be and how the Moorefield processor performs in comparison to the Exynos.
Should we have any concern about this being a refurb? I may bite as well at bb.
I do NOT think this is a high enough value product that these are physically repaired units. I tend to think these are just customer returns that have been factory reset, cleaned off, and repackaged. If anyone with real expertise can comment further I'd be curious. Whether customers returned them because they were broken or they just didn't like, hard to know. I think warranty is only 90 days and i don't know if a credit card doubles the warranty on a refurbished product or not. I've bought a moderate number of refurbished electronics before and never had a problem though, and most problems will surface in first 90 days. That said price new is only $20 more next week so savings not big enough to just ify It.
the point is that its one day to get that price and the madness behind it. Also I disagree in that anytime I have bought a refurb from a large company, its usually pristine. GO to cowboom and that is a prime example of taking returns and simply reprocessing them.
It's four days. Many stores have that price and you can order online. No hassle at all. Samsung.com has it for 399$ beginning Sunday and you can pre-order today.
Also if you want to go refurbished, Newegg is cheaper than bb, no sales tax, and includes a one year warranty.
hi all,
I want to purchase Note 8, but it seems to much expensive for my budget. Even though with free gifts (which you can resell) if you add up taxes, it will come up the same.
What you guy think, lets say if i wait 2-3 months the price will really drop ( I am wiling to wait until the end of year if it make sense )?
One possible scenario is they may drop the price a little bit, but also discontinue gift option, which no make sense for me.
Does anyone aware of recent dynamics, based on previous Galaxy models, lets say S8 or so?
Or , does price really drops on Black friday?
Thanks in advance.

I suggest this will depend on where you live and how you make your purchase and what you are prepared to gamble.
In my country there are zero 'contract' sales. we all have to buy our mobiles at top price. There is also a sales price that all outlets maintain meaning regardless where one buys, it will be the same price, don't ask it makes zero business sense to me either. Having said that the law, in theory, protects consumers. If we don't like the purchase we have 20 days to return for a full refund. Warranty problems are generally taken care off. In other words its a relatively 'safe' place to buy a mobile.
I am paying 1,020.00€ for the Note 8. My SGS8+ cost 920.00€ , 100.00€ difference but if I take into account the free DEX offer, worth 150.00€ here, my Note 8 is cheaper than the S8+!
Now we go to the 'open market'. This can be a gamble and a nightmare. Sure you may get what you consider a bargain as many did with their Note 7 purchase from Dubai BUT when the woopsie hit the fan while I got a full refund on the spot TWICE for both iterations, those who bought from some other countries got stuffed. Not all but too many for comfort.
My point is you will get what you pay for. With an expensive purchase like this I use a reputable international outlet, FNAC, and am relatively well looked after. If I choose to do so I could also buy from, say Dubai and save tax etc but....
Amazon CAN BE a good purchase outlet BUT Amazon are using more and more third party sellers and many of those are not based in Europe meaning they are sent from China or where ever and that causes massive import problems here. IF one can purchase an Amazon sourced product that is sold by a vendor within Europe one can, after a small time frame, find the price of such items reduced. Again such reductions can mean grey imports etc. Check the sellers Amazon profile.
For me I pay top price in this country in the city I live near from a reputable outlet and sleep well at night. Not everyone is the same though, thank heavens.
Take care with such purchases its not the initial purchase than can be the problem, the problem is IF the mobile is a brick are you safe in getting a replacement under warranty etc blah blah. You pay your money you accept your choice.
Last point being how long are you willing to wait? Most of us here are techno nuts who want this device yesterday! No way would the majority of my peers here be willing to wait even an extra day to save a euro!

hi Ryland,
thanks for taking your time and replying me back.
The main point of this question is, if I wait 3-4 months will price drop ? I know it is hard to tell, but based on other models dynamics what you think?
Or lets say, if it drop just 150$ and no more free stuff , it means no make sense to wait...
I completely share your opinion that it is worth to buy from local authorized resellers...
I am located in USA..
3 to 4 months is a good time.. With s8 plus the prices fell a decent amount in 3 months..
I am on the same boat.. I want to buy a career device may be even used one. I m in Canada

yes, thats what I was thinking. Same here, I dont mind to buy a used one. Crossing fingers for battery not to go bad
Lets say how much S8 droped its initial price. I believe when it released, they were giving some extra stuff too, right? If the price just drop about same amount as gift and now dropped price option is withouit gift, it means there is no real drop, in that case no make sense to wait 12+ (3-4) months
In a couple of months you'll be able to get Note 8's off ebay at discounted prices as people will sell who've received free upgrades etc. Also set up Pricespy alerts online. Sometimes sellers offer 10% off deals for instance so you should find something in a few weeks. And of course it depends how successful it is!

exactly. I don't think the DEX thing is a good promotion either and obviously no one is buying it and they've a huge stock to dispose of (otherwise why not reduce the price of the phone and make it more attractive). Companies generally won't allow USB devices to connect to laptops and I don't have a screen or keyboard at home as got 2 tablets and a smart tv. There will be loads of DEX for sale for £40 soon as people realise its not getting used.

Mmmm, A lot of what you write holds water however I think the DEX, worth 150€ here, is a very nice free offer. I have no interest in the DEX despite being addicted to gadgets and tech toys, I do understand though that the DEX certainly has appeal to a wide range of other users and is one very clever set up.
I would not have bought the DEX simply because I have zero use for it and even though tempted I just knew it would end up in a draw collecting dust. As one is coming free I will try it out then after let it collect dust in a draw.
Just as a foot note the DEX is selling very well here and its been difficult to even find one in stock in any outlet. I guess such hardware sales will vary from country to country though. :good:

I want to purchase Note 8, but it seems to much expensive for my budget. Even though with free gifts (which you can resell) if you add up taxes, it will come up the same.
What you guy think, lets say if i wait 2-3 months the price will really drop ( I am wiling to wait until the end of year if it make sense )?
One possible scenario is they may drop the price a little bit, but also discontinue gift option, which no make sense for me.
Does anyone aware of recent dynamics, based on previous Galaxy models, lets say S8 or so?
Or , does price really drops on Black friday?
Thanks in advance.

so i have my internet through Xfinity it is kind of required as far as i know. but go to https://www.xfinity.com/mobile/
and you pick the device and the "pay by the gig plan" cause then they dont charge you for data unless you use it. and go from there the note is like 32 bucks they have a protection plan for 12 more also. and after all of it you pay the 1st month payment on the phone (32) and the taxes (mine came to 67 bucks) so a total of 102 bucks give or take for me to preorder the Note8.
Hard to beat Verizon + Best Buy offer! $12.75/mo for 24 months is outstanding for a phone of this quality. That's what, $300? Tough to beat!
Find someone who had the Note 7 and doesn't want to Note 8 and use their promo to get the $425 Trade in

this is terms and conditions I found :
"Device Payment Pricing & Other Info
Offers valid 8/25/17 through 9/13/17. Restrictions apply. $200 savings off regular retail price when activating a new XFINITY Mobile line of service. Valid on select devices. While supplies last. Limit 5 per account. © 2017 Comcast. All rights reserved.
Additional fees, such as those for government taxes and regulatory recovery fees, apply."
so basically in order to get the phone, you have to activate a new mobile line.

where did you found that one, BB shows 32.75$ for 24 months?..
I think I will wait for few more months also I am considering to buy Exynos, unlocked version
I purchased the Note 8 for TMO from Samsung direct. I've never purchased insurance before because the deductibles were so high, but I've never owned a phone this expensive before either. I can get TMO, Samsung or Geek Squad coverage and I am wondering about the pro's and cons of the offerings.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I just did squaretrade. I like it that it's a one time pay vs a monthly, I can use it for future phones, deductible is $99 and I can use it 3 times per plan. I rarely keep a phone for more then a year so works for me.
I used worth ave group. It was around $80 a year. Deductible is $50.
I used it twice to fix my wife's broken iPhone screen. Did not have any issues.

Question, the most I can choose is $899. The phone is more expensive than that.
Square trade for my note 8 tmobile 104 for 2 years and 99 deductible have been using them for about 7 years and never had a problem with them

I choose that amount. I figured if the phone was a total lose I would eat the other $50. I mainly have it incase I crack the screen.

Worth ave...
Thanks for the tip. Will check them out.
Was thinking about Samsungs premum care insurance ..
I just looked at the Squaretrade and it does not cover loss/theft. Also, it's unclear what happens if you crack the screen or the back and they don't have replacement parts. I seriously doubt they have replacement screens for N8 at this point. Will they cover buying a new device?

For the first time ever I accepted the sales outlets insurance. 12.00€ per month. All risks so I am told BUT I have every confidence should I need to make a claim there will be the normal insurance situations?
As you wrote this is an expensive mobile device that is large and could be dropped. I think insurance is worth it in this case.
I suggest you enquire at the outlet you made your purchase. Failing that what about approaching the same company who insures your home or car or whatever? The only other thing I would mention is there is no such thing as cheap, good, insurance. Use a reputable company. Let us know what you find. :highfive:

It does not cover theft. Honestly the phone never leaves my side and if I get it stolen from me its fairly useless to anybody.
Squaretrade is the best bang for your buck.
Look for 20 to 30 percent off coupons.
Bump for more opinions.
Thanks for the input. I ended up choosing Squaretrade. It cost $159 for three years of coverage which covers the N8 and a new phone when I buy it. They are having a special right now. The deductible is $99. I've never lost a phone, so I decided damage protection is all I really need.
Variables...
Depends on your usage and how often you switch phones.
I'm on this two jump thingy. All i need is a year of phone coverage. With the wort have group, that 1 year is like 80 bux i think? I dont plan to use it because i am not clumsy like some people.
But if you plan to keep this device longer than a year, then square trade is the first option I'd pick.
I am going to go with samsung, having an unlocked phone both AT&T and Verizon said they would not offer me insurance.

If you bank with Wells Fargo you can get $600 of phone insurance with a $25 deductible by just paying your phone bill with their Visa card. That's enough to cover a broken screen. I've used it once and it worked out well.

Wish I had found ones that actually worked.
I purchased squaretrade. they have been around about as long as ebay has. I found this post and it had some great information about phone insurance.
I also went with Squaretrade. I have never lost a phone or had one stolen (knock on wood and all of that), so I'm not too worried about that. They were nice enough to refund me the entire price of the Squaretrade plan I had on my S7E, since I'd never used it in the 10.5 months I've had it on their plan. So the cost of a 2 year policy for the Note 8 is only like $50 net.
