Hey all,
So basically I just bought my first android phone couple of weeks ago. Its the Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 running 2.33 Firmware.
It is not yet rooted (have read some articles found in these forum found them really helpful)
but I'm not gonna root it for now I think cause this is my first android phone Im still a noob (used to apple)
Now my problem is I will be going abroad in 2 weeks and could really use the GPS.Tried donwloading GPS Status but i never actually got a lock on the satelites (or it took too long that I gave up) I also tried the fix but the code (but when dialing *#*#1472365#*#* nothing happened lol)
I also downloaded loads of GPS software such as AndNav2,Wisepilot,Navigon,CoPilot,Sycig but 90% of those gave me an error when I try them such as this software cannot be started on your device.
Is there any good GPS software/app which does not require an internet connection (pls not offline maps but like turn by turn app or similar.)
Thanks a lot.
Personally i use Copilot live 8
maybe you could flash the phone to a clean stock ROM and then try again ??
Good Luck!!
So I finally managed to fix it and get a fix on the satellites
Now my last problem is, I need a good turn by turn app that does not use internet (except maybe for downloading maps first time etc.)
Thanks.
Hmm anyone?
I'm using Navigon. You need an internet connection to download the maps. Following that, there is an option to turn off internet connection. Go to Menu>Settings - second option from the top.
in my personal experience... you need to learn how to root, flash firmware, etc...
i'm also a noob and used to apple devices..
before my galaxy s get great firmware (thx xda-dev), i miss my iphone so much...
but after flashed with great firmware, everything working great, nice apps.. and so on,
also a great benefit for me, i know how to do those things... and i can say bye2 for my apple devices now.. even one great iphone 5 wont help me back to apple
just PM me if you need anyhelp
hope you enjoy your sgs as much as i do...

The application Navigon (process.com.navigon.navigtor_checkout_eu40) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later.
All I can do is choose force close.
Hi,
My dad has a Galaxy S Advance and we can not use its GPS receiver at all. I tried the GPSTest application, it doesn't show any satellites, whilst my old I9000 Galaxy S - which has a very weak receiver - can find 7-8 satellites. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Phone was running on I9070XXLPY (the very first 4.1.2), I thought it may be a SW issue so I have just flashed the latest German I9070XXLQE firmware via Odin but the issue still exists. Phone functionality and Bluetooth are working fine, so Modem binary is working and /efs is not lost. Phone is not rooted and I don't want it to be rooted at all.
Thanks in advance

One thing I want to ask you. You tried it outside, or in building?

I have tried it both in and outside but as I've written, my SGS 1 was near the SGSA and it found plenty of satellites :-\
Edit: one thing, it has found one satellite once outside but none anymore

You never had it working good on JB except that one time? Factory reset, from recovery. Backup all what you need before that.

I can't really say it was working that time but yes, it's right. Next time when I go home I'll try the factory reset, if no other suggestion comes. Thank you for the help! :good:
After factory reset the phone can find ~3 satellites only, no more

I have the same problem with my Galaxy S Advance
Tried hard reset S Advance factory reset
http://www.hard-reset.com/samsung-galaxy-s-advance-i9070-hard-reset.html
In winter i thought it is very slow because of the weather conditions, clouds etc. but in summer it is the same. Sooo slow, not getting position, it takes 10 min. to see satellites.
Is it a common problem? Is it hardware problem?
Did someone solved somhow?

If Internet enabled, it is the same. I know that if you download GPS data it should find GPS signal much sooner, but it shouldn't.
Thanks
Root and set gps.config to your country. Search for ntp servers. (Almighty Google). By default for my phone it was set to North America, and I am in Serbia. It was taking 3-5 mins to get gps fix, after changing it to my (rs.ntp.blah, blah) it takes 10-30 seconds.

Perhaps you need to download this application, mate, on playstore. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.serbiamap.android
Sourch : http://www.serbiamap.net/en/android.html
Maybe you should also read the thread here. But I'm not sure if it worked. But you can try. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200089
or here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388552
This thread is old, but I like to share extra info. This Google play app "Install GPS - test & Fix" works great!
I installed an original firmware for my GT-I9070, everything is working except GPS. This is fixed by this app! Awesome!:good:

Good afternoon guys..
Alright im not totally sure that i can post this but if i can't mods pls remove it
Off to the problem... I am sure most of you are familiar with network spoofer and dsploit... That's the reason i rooted this device.. Anyway i downloaded those programs and started network spoofer.. Shows all network connections when i click on 1 for example my laptop and choose an action.. I press start but what happens is that the Internet will be cut off from the laptop only.. It will restore after i stop the app.. So later on i discovered dsploit and i tried but here we go again just resulting with the same problem sadly... I am currently on stock rom if that helps... Anyway could the problem be from my router (belkin) or just s3 mini is incompatible? Sorry for the long post and thnx in advance!
I installed hearthstone on our phone but it says it doesn't have the minimum specification, I tried to installed it on Pengus JB Look Ma No Hands.
Anyone else had better luck?
Hey im trying too it doesnt work on our device im searching for a bypass of it but cant find .
The game should run smooth as its playable on samsung s2 ( i heard from another forum).
Hi, I've just got the Galaxy S III Mini (SM-G730V) and when I go to google store it says that clash of clans is not supported, is there any known way to do it? I'm going to use this phone only for the game and for my alarm. It's with Verizon. Many thanks
Never mind... I don't know what happened that now I see it and downloading it... wth... I saw: not supported...
Hello
i had the same problem, you have to change the version of your phone by flashing a new rom (4.4.x ang higher)
