Hi I have problem with my O2X (P990). When I plug phone to charger with screen off, phone gets black screen and I cant do nothing, till I remove the battery and put it back and start it again. I use latest CM10.1 and its known issue i think. Is there any solution for this? I turned on option "Stay awake" but its not practical - when im plugging phone to charger screen must be on - then there is no issue, but i cant think all the time about turning phone on when im putting it to charger. Thanks for any advice.

Do the leds light up when you click the power button?
If so, try to click the power button a few times with 1 or 2 seconds in between, the sceen might turn on again. I got the same problem with my P990.

No its absolutely dead, but thanks for trying.
Change rom or kernel. BSoD mostly caused by kernels.

Hey! Sorry to barge in but i have a similar problem thou i'm on stock ics with touch recovery and root. Weird thing is that this was not happening before. What gives? :-?
If i plug in the charger with screen on then it works but if the phone is in standby and i plug it it stays "dead" and only option is obviously to remove battery.
Had this problem on the old bootloader. Use one of the new bootloader ROMs (tonyp's CM10.1 or pengus77's CM10).
thing is i'm using the new boot loader (stock ics is on new boot loader) but it didn't happen before so i'm suspecting either the battery or the phone.
i will try to eliminate one of the "suspects"(replace the battery) and i hope it does the trick....
I suffered from the same problem, and so the only solution that I was easily able to implement was enabling "keep screen on while charging" in development options. When the phone is charging, the screen will dim, but not turn off. It can be turned off using the power button, and the screen will turn off but device will stay awake, which will prevent the BSOD. I wasn't able to test if it was a battery problem and I didn't want to change the kernel or rom. I am using Temasek's CM 7.2 with Stefan's latest Symbi0sis Kernel. Hope I helped.

i think i'm misunderstood :-? the phone charges just fine, it's just that i have to plug in the charger while the screen is on (if i don't do this the phone remains shut and becomes unresponsive hence the "pull out battery" solution).
Oh, my apologies. I thought you meant that the phone BSOD whenever you plug in the charger and leave it for a short period of time, whether the screen was on or off when the charger was plugged it in. In that case, I'm not sure I can provide a solution. Sorry, and good luck.

ok now it works :| wtf? .... will further test but i did install greenify and auto memory and tweaked here and there some apps... could it be software problem? anyway thanks for reply, sorry for highjacking the OP and will come back with feedback.

I have exactly the same problem since i updated the software,
I am on New bootloader,kernel KK124, and temasek latest CM 10.1 based ROM(v 75).
I always connect the charger with screen on and when it starts charging i put the screen off then no issues.
Another issue i am having is keyboard related .
When I type 2nd alphabet the keyboard goes off. Tried all latest ROMS ,and all gapps its the same.
The only gapps which works is the one provided in PAC man thread ,but it seems to work only with PAC MAN ROM.
But it has other issues( Any contact storage gives an FC,and a bit slow compare to avatar and temasek ROMS)

Hi there,
my brother's Milestone doesn't boot at all, not even the "M" logo at the beginning. It's a rooted phone, with stock 2.2
He was using it (with enough battery) and it suddenly switched off.
I have tried with the battery of my own Milestone, but still his phone doesn't boot up at all.
Is there anything I can do to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
plug it into a wall charger without a battery.. see if anything happens
Thanks. While light surrounds the microUSB connection in the phone, but screen doesn't show anything.
what if you tap the power button and hold it down?
Does the screen light up a little or is it pitch black?
Nope, screen doesn't light up at all. Guess there's no home-made solution then.
Dunno... I guess you tried holding x or camera with it plugged in and no battery?
Normally you can get to recovery without the battery when plugged in
Sent from my Milestone using Tapatalk
Exactly, tried all that altogether with power button, but ... nothing.
It's not a problem during the flashing process, which can be usually fixed by that, is just that it doesn't do anything anymore.
Guess I'll send it to Motorola. Maybe I'll get "lucky" and get a Milestone 2 in exchange as someone else in the forum.
Title says it all...
When you plug in the nook color the screen wont turn off in Cyanogen Mod... This isn't good when you are using <2 amp charging (say 500 mA from standard usb) as the screen uses more power then the charge provides... so it actually drains the battery. Any ideas?
When you say it will not turn off, do you still have a display or just the backlight? When I am charging my nook in standby, I have noticed that the backlight will remain on until I tap the power button. That gives me a black screen

I noticed that recently with one of the later nightlies. I can still power off while charging though, can you?
I put it in sleep, I don't turn it off.
Same problem here. I just turn have to remind myself to manually turn it off whenever I plug it in. Probably some kernel bug or something?
Not a huge problem though. =)

Turn the screen off by hitting the power button.
This is not a bug but a workaround for a kernel bug. We fixed a bug that would cause kernel panic if you let the device sleep while plugged into USB. However, it would still eventually kill ADB so for now I start a partial wake lock when connected to USB.
Just wondering when this might be fixed? Having to worry about the screen being left on when plugged in is a problem for me. I normally charge my Nook from a standard usb. If the screen is on it drains the battery.

When what might be fixed? As Dal just said, this IS the fix for the time being. And it isn't a worry. Just plug it in, and hit the power button; your screen will turn off, and you will be good to go.

The fact it sounded like a temp fix "for the time being" is why I asked about timing. Turning the screen off is fine but I have had one case where the screen turned back on during the night and I woke to a nook that was almost dead even though it was plugged in all night. Even an answer like planned for next RC or for the final release of 7.1 would be helpful.
If there is not fix coming it would be nice to know that too.
I appreciate everything that has been done for the nook and enjoy using it as a tablet.
Using the high capacity cable is not an option. I have tried two in my nook and one would not charge it all and the second was very hard to plug and would sometimes charge it. A standard USB cable has always worked fine. I have read about bad high capacity cables taking out more than one nook so I won't even go there anymore.
Have this been solved somehow?
I have recently mounted my Nook Color on the kitchen wall and it is annoying to manually having to push the power button to turn off the screen, instead of having the screen turn off automatically after a specified time.

But i have a similar problem to the stated one. After flashing the new leaked 4.3 Rom from DoomLord my phone ran just fine for nearly a week. Yesterday i inserted a new sd card and wanted to format it in recovery. But then after formating sdcard1 my phone totally freezed. However i rebooted it from recovery. No led when i plug in. I tried every combination of buttons presses (also volume up + power button which does normaly the trick). I even opened the phone and unplugged battery for 2-3 min, still nothing. Do you guys have any idea what i else can do, or is my phone simply broken?

charage the phone for 24 hrs or overnight and try flashing the stock rom via flashtool. if it did not work with vol down button+power try this method 2
try to do a hard reset; (while NOT connected via usb or something) hold power+vol up, it will vibrate 1 time, and then 3 times quick. After that try to connect the usb (NOT while pressing any buttons) and press vol down+power
That should connect it into flashmode.

Unfortunately this didn't work. However after letting the phone charging for a while i got a red LED. Which disappears every 5 min and comes again after another 5. When i disconnect phone from charger and connect to my notebook nothing happens. I mean I press vol down + power there is nothing the phone doesn't react. If i try i hard reset. The red LED is blinking and the phone doesn't vibrate .

Ok, I disassembled the phone again. I removed battery and measured voltage seems to be fine. Besides battery life was OK when it worked (OK compared to my SXplay ). Additionally i tried the battery trick from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449242. However the bahavior on charger is still the same 5min red LED 5min no LED at all. Excluding it is a driver problem I ran flashtool on my linux machine and tested both the windows and linux flash tool with my xperia Play which is correctly detected in flash mode.
Thanks guys for your hints upon now but I would be happy to get additonal ones. I'm not afraid of disassembling and getting my hands dirty.
I hope I will get this great phone running again since I've really started to love it :-/.
Same situation with CM 10.2
Hi there I'm in the same situation with my xperia V.
Bootlocker unlock and flashed 10.2.0 (latest stable rel) and gapp. No issue everything was working but huge battery drain due to Media Scanner, so I've reboot in recovery wipe the cache and format the external sd then reboot all from the recovery menu.....then the phone is dead.
now in change since more that 30 hours and get red light for some minutes that nothing at all....nothing pushing power, nothing pushing volume nothing at all.....if i connect without battery to the power red light blinks.
how is that possible???? at least recovery node should work...is that an HW problem? but how can i have created an HW problem with a wipe a format and a reboot????
Please help...

Ok i attached a picture. The measured voltage is 3.07 V between kathode and anode marked in red (of course I measured it when the battery was disconnected. Moreover you see the soldered connection to the back of the battery marked in green. I've already tried what I red in another post in this forum, where the guys there suggest to unplugg the battery and try to connect the phone in flash mode. This results in a blinking red LED :-/. Charge the battery somewhere or buy new battery. 3.07V is not enough.

hello guys I have a solution to this problem.and I guess you guys are lucky cause I experienced this problem also.you don't need to panic cause this will help.all you need to do is to get a new battery either online or in your domestic regions.if you wish to get it online go to aliexpress.com And it will be shipped to you no matter where you are on this earth.the reason is because the xperia t has been drained to the core and so it can't come on in other to flash in a kernel or image. When you've bought the battery you can actually fix it by yourself cause I'll Show you how.when you've fixed it then you flash in 4.3jb stock room in it and then your phone comes back alive like mine.IV actually used the phone for a month before that problem occurred but now say no more to that cause this thread will work 100%

Hey guys, I've got a bit of a problem after the latest 4.3 update. My phone battery went to 7% and then suddenly to 0%, upon which it turned off. Now whenever I try to turn it on the red light flashes and whenever I try to turn it on whilst charging (because I don't think it charges if I just leave it plugged in), it just enters a reboot cycle, whereby it goes to the lock screen, shows the "Shutting Down" window and reboots. I have no clue how to fix this.
I don't really care about the phone at this point, but I do have some photos I want to keep from there...
Any ideas? The software hasn't been pampered with.
same here
hey, feeling with you.
I recently updated my Xperia T to 4.3.
While in 4.1.2 the "low battery" behavior was quite weird, as my T did not charge (no red LED), I was able to get it back to life by pressing and holding the power button for quite some time, lets say 5 min. or so, as it was loading then. This was independent from whether it was exhausted (blinking red LED) or "simply of"(not blinking but not charging anyways).
Through this whole power pressing procedure (I just wrapped the cord around the phone several times) the LED was red and the phone was charging, but it did not turn on. After the 5 min. I freed the T an hit the power button again. Now it was booting as expected and did not immediately go off again.
On 4.3 unfortunately this does not work anymore . The phone just tries to boot and enters the reboot cycle as you described (with the difference that it does shut down instead of reboot).
Now first I would like to know, if your T behaved like mine under 4.1.2 (guessing that was your last Version too). From what I've read I assume that wasn't really normal behavior. I think there must be something wrong with the hw, as my 4.1.2 was neither unlocked nor modified in any other way.
Second I would advise you boot into recovery and select boot into bootloader* (if you have installed one) or connect your T to your PC and boot into flashmode (power+vol.down I guess) as it might charges in there. The recovery worked for me, flashmode should work, but I never tried.
Finally I guess chances are good, that your device works totally normal if it gets charged again (just don't let it run out of energy again )
btw. does the Xperia T normally charge while it's powered off? Anyone has send his phone back on warranty because of charging problems?
good luck to you,
wk
*I am using this 4.3 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2647459) atm, as I have root there. But the recovery is really buggy right now so it just restarts all the time. I'm not quite sure where the "boot into bootloader" option gets you ( never heard, that you could boot into bootloader on an xperia device) but the LED shines blue and the T charges and that's important right?
Yeah, my T would sometimes do that when the battery completely drained. I'd have to hold the button for a few minutes while the red light was on until it booted and started charging autonomously.
Now that doesn't work. It doesn't charge when it's off and when I connect it to the charger and turn it on, it restarts. Eventually though the battery drains completely and the old trick works again, but even when it manages to boot to the lock screen, it shows 0% battery again and restarts.
I've tried turning it on while holding the power+down button and charging. The green light came on and disappeared but it started rebooting again. Same with connecting it to my PC.
Can you remove the battery?
Same thing happens to mine, and i just remove battery, plug it without battery,it starts, then put the battery back on.

So I think you are facing the same issue as mine... the phone has no time to charge. So what I did was flash an OmniRom with only the SystemUI apk and launcher apk. The intention was to make the boot time shorter so that the battery will not go down by the time it boots. But it ended up causing a bootloop: it was constantly stuck in the bootanimation. And it does charge during the bootanimation. So I let it be like that for about 30 minutes, rebooted to recovery and flashed the stock rom. And all my data was safe. This is more like a fluke so try it and maybe it would work.
If you can disassemble it, then yes, you can do the battery thing. There is just one screw under the SIM flap. I didn't do it because my screw driver kit was borrowed.
The battery trick worked! Now it discharges really fast though.
5% in less than 5 minutes...
