Hello, I'd like to know the function/use of the small holes to the right of the earjack at the top, and to the right of the charging port at the bottom. Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure it's the mics.
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
At the top it's active noise cancellation and bottom it's microphone
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium
The bottom one is the main microphone while the top one is the noise cancellation microphone that is used to subtract what it takes from what the main one takes

Will i get my problem solved by this?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Probably, even if not its a lot easier to fix a problem on gb (as that's what most people are using)
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
okay i am flashing to gb today and then want to go ahead to ICS
Okay do you want a pure Google ics (no add ons like Samsung touchwiz and stuff) or a Samsung themed rom?

I dont have my demand except for stability and better battery life with no bugs

Do you mean can't? And when you say doesn't work what exactly doesn't work? No sound at all or distorted sound? If there's some noise try pulling it out slowly to see if there's a point where it works, and try a different pair of headphones.

If you need some pure ICS then I would recommend team-nyx (ICSSGS)

How long have you had the phone? Sounds like there's a connection problem, if it still has Warranty you could flash stock rom and send it back although you could try putting a cotton bud in carefully or give it a blow if you have no warranty you could buy a new Jack online there not expensive and not hard to fit just look on YouTube (remember never force things unless instructed to)

Hello,
Over the past few days, my phone has ben playing up. When making a call, using the headphones would not work. After disabling Noise suppression the headphones worked. And now it dosen't.
I've had a look at the headphone jack and it looks broken.

As stated above, they all look like that. I am sure it is your headphones, loose cable internally causing intermittence. In addition are you using the stock headphones or another?
I am using the apple headphones. I have also tried the stock ones from sony.

Charging your battery might help .
GIve us more details if you want help, what ROM are you using including version, locked/unlocked, root/no root?
Also I gather that the exact same problem exists with the apple or sony buds?
Have you tried another pair of earphones

I'm running the stock ROM, and not rooted or unlocked.
Yea both buds dont work.
on mine...didn't work from the beginning.i can hear only in the left one.
anyway I don't use it.
My screen got distorted when I apply some weight when I tap the screen, especially on the center left edge. The weight I apply is not that hard (just like mouse clicking) then I see some distortion (like water wave). I know it happens when you press hard on any LCD screen, However, It happens a lot easier on my Xperia Z compared to other phones I used to have.
Anyone got the same problem?
Had this on my last XZ (7th) and on this one (8th). Esp when holding the phone in my right hand pressing power button or volume buttons, it caused pressure where my fingers are holding the handset on the left.

Please look at my previous posts. You'll see that I have had many XZ's. Also I'm typing this on an XZ. I'm switching to HTC in 8 days. I'm no fan boy, my last experience with HTC a few years ago, was bad.

My s3 seems to have a power button problem. The phone boots on and works perfectly. But if I tap the rear of the mack plastic, next to the power button, I get the power menu. Any tips?
Thanks guys.

Dirt around the switch, carefully clean and all should be well... :good:
I removed the power button and cleaned everything out. Nothing worked so far. My power button seems to be very lose. Maybe a replacement?

Obvioisly loose. Its defenitly not intended to pick the power button out unless you screwed the cover away and void varranty.
The button will probably soon be gone for ever.
It sound like the feathery effect is gone. In the near future you have to send it in

I was chatting with a friend of mine who had the same problem, he removed the switch then use a little piece of double sided sellotape to bulk out the switch.
He then put it back together and it has been running for four months with no issues :fingers-crossed:
Hope you could fix it..
