Hey everyone, here is the Bionic JB Update file.
Steps for those that don't know.
1) You can be rooted an install this. Please use OTA Rootkeeper and protect root before install. It is not necessary to "temp unroot."
2) If you have SS or BS recovery installed that needs to be uninstalled. Simply open the app and click "uninstall recovery." You do not have to delete the app just remove the recovery. You can NOT install this using custom recovery as far as I know, uninstall using stock rom --> SS (or BS) app and click "uninstall recovery"
3) Download the file, then load onto the root of the external SD card.
4) Boot into stock recovery:
To get into stock recovery hold both volume keys while holding power on. Use volume down to scroll through options then volume up (or power button tap can't remember) to select. If you get red triangle don't worry, just hit both volume keys again you should get recovery menu.
5) Select update from .zip, find the Blur.....875.zip you downloaded to the root of SD card and select update from that.
6) Enjoy official JB support.
Install errors
If you get failed to install side load error 7 or similar you most likely have one of these problems.
1) Edited build.prop previously --> Fix: Get stock build prop (future reference: Always keep copies of anything you change!)
2) You are trying to install over custom recovery or on top of a stock rom but on a custom recovery partition --> Fix: Wipe partitions, reboot into stock, open SS or BS and click "uninstall custom recovery"
3) You froze or removed system apps including bloatware--> Fix: Replace stock apps or unfreeze them.
P.S. Large update it's over 300 mbs. And for those that say "it's only .246" Motorola calls the new update what you are upgrading FROM not to.

Worked great! I wonder if the Bionic will get an upgrade to 4.2 or not...
FYI: For some reason I lost root, even with OTA Rootkeeper installed and with root protected. Not sure why.
I move it to the external sd card, but I'm not getting a pop up window. Now I am sad on the inside. I cant get that jelly bean goodness.
has anyone tryed FXZing back to .905? just curious to see if that'll work

Yes it is, I will try to upload to Drive. Those who download please reupload to your own drive/box etc accounts so everyone can have. Bandwidth regulations for these sights means only a handful of people can get each link.

I downloaded the update unzipped it then created a folder on my SD card called SD-ext then copied the files into that folder and rebooted, but my Bionic just boots normal. Why does it not recognize the update?
I think a step is missing in the initial instructions. Would one go into stock recovery and then choose the file?
No way

I highly doubt it. 4.1.2 will probably be it because the phone will be 2 years old in September

[Q] Need tester for one click root for galaxys no computer needed
Hey,
I just wrote this up.
Thanks to jcase for the information and his root for eris: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742228
This will root your phone with no button pressing. No need for a PC.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ptkbiyt99bws3ft/Galaxysrooter_Final.apk
NOTE: The auto-reboot will not work. it seems only system apps can reboot the phone. So for now.
Here is the work around
Code:
Just power off... Reboot into recovery...
Hold vol + and vol -
Hold power
Wait for vibrant
Release power
Reinstall packages
Mirror thanks to jphilpot
Confirmed working! Thanks to themykel.
Thanks to all for bug testing. This should be the final version. No need to use astro or anything to move files.
Thanks!
If you like this app and it helped you. Please donate. http://bit.ly/crSq3B THANKS!
if this is confirmed working, i can put this up in my market account for users to easily download / install / use. let me know.

Koush is going to add the root method to clockwork in the extras folder. It would be awesome if koush added a root option for as many phones as possible. That would make clockwork the ultimate android app.

Sdcard-ext in recovery is in reference to a partitioned sdcard with A2SD.
If you think about it, it would be pointless to backup your sdcard TO your sdcard

I previously had a fascinate and enjoyed applying custom roms and kernels etc. I have a droid 3 now and would like to work on modifying it also but the jargon is different, ie bootstrap. I am rooted. What do I do next or is there a tutorial that's simple. I also would like to update but am not sure how to get the new one. Thx.

The bootstrap posted in this thread does not flash all partitions and has been replaced with an "official" clockwork mod version.
Droid 3 has a locked bootloader, meaning we can't permanently flash a custom recovery. In order to flash files and custom roms, we must bootstrap/hijack the recovery. Download Koush's Droid 3 Bootstrap, available in market for donation cost or for free via his blog. Anytime you want to boot into recovery you will need to open this app, click Bootstrap Recovery, then click Reboot Recovery. You will still need Rom Manager to flash the recovery.
1. Download Rom Manager and Droid3 Bootstrap
2. Install Clockwork Mod Recovery with Rom Manager
3. Open D3 Bootstrap and select Bootstrap Recovery, followed by Reboot Recovery
4. You should now be greeted by the familiar Clockwork Mod interface.

I am forever rooted, and defrosted all the apps I froze with TB. Any ideas as to why this update keeps failing?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
Download the official update.
Open root explorer and go to the /cache/ directory.
Copy or move the update from there to your SD card.
Power off phone
Hold Volume up and down together and press power button
You see a menu. Hit volume down to go to recovery. Hit volume up to select it
Now you see a Droid and upside down triangle. Hit both volume buttons.
Now you are fully into stock recovery.
Choose the update with zip option.
When it fails it will tell you exactly why it failed.

AWWW come on Dude... damn you should have said so a LOOONG TIME ago. There is no way to go from .901 to .902 unless your still on OTA's. I take it your not because you have this problem.
You have 2 choices
1. Go back to Stock 5.8.886 and then flash updates .893 and then .902(which you can find here)
2. Or Flash the .902 Stock FXZ using RSD lite. It will put you on .902 without having to applied updates manually. Loacted here. Copy the stuff you want to keep to your PC or External SDcard as is way wipes Internal Sdcard(which isnt a real problem)
Thats it dude. Anyone else will tell you the same thing.
CHEERS!!
PM me if you want instructions on all of this..
Thanks for all your help, I was trying to avoid wiping but now that I know its not possible Ill just go ahead and do it. Thanks for all your help.

Deodexed 6.7.244 download links are located below (You must be on 6.7.244 and be rooted)
http://www.4shared.com/zip/-vZ-bPN0/XT875-6-7-244-DEODEXED.html?refurl=d1url
http://d-h.st/xTT
http://www.adrive.com/public/KCARn2/XT875-6-7-244-DEODEXED.zip
Steps for installation
1. Download the file from a link above
2. Place on your phones external sdcard
3. Boot into CWM recovery using BootStrap
4. Select intall ZIP from sdcard
5. Choose ZIP from sdcard
6. Locate the Deodexed ZIP and select it
7. When installation is complete choose reboot system now
8. Once you get by the BootAnimation you will see android is upgrading applications
9. Once that is done you will then be able to enjoy your newly deodexed 6.7.244
I am not responsible if you do something wrong and mess up your phone. Remember anything 235 or above is not able to be taken back to 905 or previous.

Would anybody mind uploading a zip file of their "/preinstall" system folder from their Droid 4? I'm missing some files from in there. Specifically the video files for the "Guided Tours" stock app. I must have deleted them a while back, and now I can't install the Jelly Bean OTA update.
I went back to stock, removed Safestrap and unrooted the phone to do the update. And when I go to do it, it gives me an error because those files weren't found. They don't seem to be in the Droid 4 Dump, so I guess I'm S.O.L. unless I can get them from somebody.
If I deleted those, I probably deleted something else from in there, so could you please send me the whole directory? I'd be happy to throw you a donation. Ten bones sound fair? Many thanks in advance.

Yes and yes. Just DL the utility and fast boot ICS file. Unzip ICS file and move files to the files directory of utility. Make sure latest drivers are installed and battery is full connect phone run utility select boot into fast boot then option 11. Choosing to save files still won't let u install the update. Went ahead and did it last night, and it worked! After using this to reset my ICS stock ROM, the OTA Jelly Bean Update installed just fine. Thanks a ton. I gotta say, this online community rocks! I love how helpful and supportive everybody is of each other.
One minor note, I had to do this on my roommate's Windows 7 computer to get it to work. I couldn't get it to work on either my laptop or desktop, both of which have Windows 8. The phone drivers wouldn't install. Strange; I downloaded the USB drivers from Motorola, and they appeared to install, but when I plugged my phone into the computer, and went to use the Utility, it kept giving me a "Device not found" error. And also, when I checked in "Device Manager," it showed my phone with an exclaimation point and said that the drivers weren't installed.
When I followed the same process on a Windows 7 computer, the drivers installed as soon as I plugged the phone in. Weird; Motorola's website said that the drivers were for Windows 7 and 8. I tried disabling "Signature Verification" on Windows 8, but that didn't work either. Anybody know if Motorola hasn't released Windows 8 drivers for Droid 4 yet? Just wanna know for future reference. Thanks a bunch.
