I am afraid this is one of these things you cannot do on a Mac, you can install parallels or VMware, make a quick windows install, root, and keep the virtual machine, you might need it in the future for future rootings and stuff like this.
well honestly i dont know cos i use to be a apple fan. but i've the international version of xperia Z

First, unlock your bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153261
Second, use flashtool to change kernel/add root:

and

If you can understand the batch script used in the root kit then yes, it is pretty much a step-by-step of what to do.

Hello nice people of this forum, I've just got myself an Xperia V, running 9.0.1.D.0.10, and is looking for a method to root it without unlocking the bootloader.
I've tried googling it and searching the forums but came back empty. Perhaps some nice person can help me.
Thanks,

If you look in v android development there is an unsecure kernel, but this is for older firmware, maybe it works
Edit: you must unlock bootloader for custom kernel, i do not think bin4ry method works for newer firmwares

Thanks so much for your quick responses.
So right now, we have no root access without unlocking the bootloader.
Hopefully the genius developers will come up with something soon. A little bothered by the bloatware from my provider.
Thanks guys,

Hi funiewski,
I have tried rooting by flashing that kernel but I don't seems to get root when I check with the root checker app. Would you be able to advise on this? I would have posted in that thread but apparently I don't have enough post count.

There may be a way to root without unlocked bootloader
Try this well-known way of rooting Xperia AX in Japan.
I guess it's also possible for V to root.
1. Here is a Xperia VL's old rom and you can flash this kernel.sin and system.sin with V's loader.sin.
I can't post the link, but you can find it in uploaded.net. The ID is 3gvvv3w6.
2. Then, Root.
3. Create /data/local.prop (ro.kernel.qemu=1).
4. Flash V's system.sin without wiping.
5. Replace ric, install Busybox and Superuser.
6. Flash V's kernel.sin without wiping.
7. Do Factory data reset to easily delete unnecessary apps.

Hi all,
Does anyone have seen and/or know a way to root the Docomo xperia A (Japanese ZR) or if the Z/ZL method work on it?
I've been looking for a few days and can't find anything yet.
I know it has a locked bootloader so it's only about rooting and getting rid of Docomo's bloatware.
Any information will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Give this a try:

Thank you!

There is more easier way to get root without flashing the ftf of Z though

Yes I checked the website from sony (and some other).
Does all of those Tools works on W8 ?
Because I did my best (including asking for bootloader unlock key) and I'm unable to make my fastboot mode recognize on W8 hardware list
If you got a clue, welcome .
Watever happens, thanks Guys and Girls for all the non-profit job you do for most of us.
(btw : I just want to root my Xperia SP to be able to pull away some sony' apz that work underflow and make it 60% ram used without launching anything; this of course, make it slow !!)

Ya I think so.. You should pm one of the experienced dev or member who owns Xperia SP and has carried out or helped in the development of the same phone model..

I have the same unlock allowed: No...
You can only use stock based roms, only recoveries for locked BL, and cannot enter fastboot mode...
Use SEUS for repairing or reinstalling stock rom if u ever mess something up during rom installation.

Now you are in Xperia ZR General.
Go up one level and then down to Xperia ZR Development or Original Development sections.
Go through various posts. It is there in one of the top few posts.
