[Solved] Memory issue - LG Optimus 2x

Hey everyone,
so when I did a reboot, the first message I see when I rolled down the notification draw was "Preparing SD card. Checking for errors". No matter what I do, the message stays there. Can't even clear it from the notification drawer. I tried taking a screenshot of it, but another message came up: "Couldn't capture screenshot. Couldn't save screenshot. Storage ma (can't see the rest of the text).
I have tried the AIO-Toolkit (twice!) where I completely formatted the partition etc. but this message keeps popping up and the phone is sh*t like this so I am looking for a solution.
Running PA11, this is the first time I run into this with my 2 years of O2X'ism. Will try a stock ICS ROM straight from LG, but I highly doubt it will have any effect on this.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance.

Update: Something must have been really currupted. Downloaded original V30A kdz, and the phone froze at bootup. Even AIO-Toolkit couldn't fix this.
So I went looking for a ROM that gets installed through NVFlash (found Homero's ICS ROM) which formats the entire phone. That seems to have fixed it. Back on PA11 now, time to throw a party!

eViL-NXSense-v.1.13.1

Hey guys. I tried asking these questions on the official thread of this Rom but somehow my post is getting lost in the tons of pages which are accumulating everyday So here are my questions :
y2jamit said:
Alright folks. I finally managed to move from CM6 stable to NXSense. Before moving from CM 6, I partitioned my SD card using Rom manager with a partition of 512 MB & a swap of 32 MB.I managed to install version eViL-NXSense-v.1.13.1. However after that eViL-Q&D-NXSense-v.1.14.1 was released. So I downloaded that first from the 4shared link. I tried to install the new ROM from Rom Manager using the wipe option. However when the phone goes into recovery it shows formatting blah blah blah and then phone doesn't install the 1.14.1 Rom and reboots and gets stuck on the Google cross logo.
I managed to restore back to 1.13.1 from the back up that I had made. Now instead of using the Rom Manager I booted into recovery and tried to use the install from SD card option. This time the phone started copying files and showed that twice. After this I get the following huge error:
E: Can't symlink /system /customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
E: Failure at line 27:
symlink/data/local/bootanimation.zip
SYSTEM : customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
Installation aborted.
I had to once again resort back to my backup. Can anyone help me out this issue?
After all this I even tried to install 1.13.1 from the recovery using the install from sd card option and apparently this also gave me the exact same bootanimation error. So I guess both the zips are ok. not sure what else could be going wrong.
Also even after flashing networkfix on 1.13.1, the market still struggles to work. It shows loading for some time and then gives an option to retry. However if I try to search for any application or go to downloads, the market starts working normally. Can anyone also provide a fix for this problem?
I really want to use this as my default rom because I am in love with it Excellent work Evil !!! Just want to sort out these issues.

In addition to the above mentioned post, I wanted to add that I now also have a2sd enabled after running the commands from terminal emulator. What is the simplest way to update from 1.13.1 to a higher version? Also when loading market for the first time, the GPRS connection disappears and comes back in like a minute. Why is this happening? When using Trackball Alert Pro the patch option says compatible rom not found but the alerts are working fine When using wi-fi hotspot and default options, it is not getting turned on although 3G shows in the top left corner. Do I have manually change any settings.
I would be highly grateful if anyone can resolve all or any of my queries. I am absolutely exhausted in asking these queries in the official thread and reading through tons of pages just to see my query being buried.
Thanks in advance guys.
Alright guys I managed to install 1.14.1 successfully by doing a full wipe first using instructions from this fabulous thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747381 Although this thread is for myTouch 3G Slide, the basic instructions are the same for Nexus One. You just have to use the trackball to select an option. This is exactly what I was looking for I am sure many newbies like me who don't know what a full wipe is, will learn a lot from this magnificent thread. Thank you kingofyo1
Now I still don't understand why the patch option in Trackball Alert Pro shows the rom is not compatible even though basic version is officially provided with the rom. Anyway the alerts work, so I am not going to waste any more time on it.
Even in eViL-Q&D-NXSense-v.1.14.1, when I first open market, my GPRS connection disappears and comes back in like 20-30 seconds. After that market works really well. Anyone has a solution for this?
Also Wi-Fi hotspot still doesn't turn on using default settings. Do I have to manually choose any settings?
Can anyone shed some light on the above mentioned questions?

[Q] Black screen of Death

Black screen of death. It's what I call it because that's all I get.
Here is a summary of what happened.
1) My Samsung Galaxy S started to get slower and slower. I decided to turn it off and back on (using
the power down button) to see if it would get any faster.
2) I would then only get the first start screen, then the graphic S screen after which it would go
blank (black screen of death). After about 2 min, if I pressed any keys, the two buttons on the bottom
would light up and stay on. If I pressed any one of them, it would go off and back on.
3) I could hold the power button and it would reboot.
So, that's were it was, here is what I have tried so far.
a) Check to see if I could get into download mode. Yep, that works.
b) Check to see if I could get into recovery mode. Yep, that works.
c) Hmmm, oh well, lets do a system wipe. Yep, can do that but it still would not boot up. I just get
to the graphic S screen and then the black screen of death.
d) Lets take the battery out. (over night) Nope, still black screen of death.
Based on the above, a flash should work right. Sorry, but I had a lag fix installed. Well no matter
what, I could not get the phone to boot so I guess I better try flashing anyway.
I've tried several images. Most of them get the error "your storage not prepared yet, please use UI me nu for format and reboot actions" OK, this is because of the lag fix. I then installed stzupy's image and that fixed the "your storage not prepared yet bla, bla bla. But still black screen of death.
I've tried flashing over and over, with pid 512, 513, 803. Nothing. I still come up the black screen of death.
So, can someone guide me in the right direction. I've done searches on this but everyone else seems to have had a different problem. Mostly doing a Factory Reset worked for them. I've done that over and over. After removing the battery, after flashing, before flashing. Nothing seems to get me past the black screen of death.
Thanks in advance for all and any help,
Jeff
p.s. Please don't reply with a message saying something like flash X's kernel. I need descriptive instructions such as flash with "this kernel" into CSC (or pda or modem) using XXX pid while checking repartion (or not). In other words, don't assume I know what I am doing. I don't.
there is now way you can save your apps installed but your sd card files will be there.
Only thing you can do is reflash my friend

Really don't care about my apps. (I have everything backed up onto my computer via Titanium Backup) But if you check my message above, I have reflashed until the cows come home. I still get the black screen of death.

Sorry Jeff Your Samsung Galaxy S is 'Proper F*cked Mate'
Yes sir I believe you are toast indeed! Your internal SD card is probably toast. I believe you're a fine Canadian of course assuming you've got the Bell i9000m? A lot of us have had this and there's a poll on it actually. Mine just toasted out about 2 weeks ago, thankfully i've an awesome friend in Canada on the forum that has helped me out!
No matter what you flash or try to do, it will not mount the sdcard in there or let you format it manually. You'll have to send it back to BELL or Samsung.

Had the same problem today. Wanted to change from JPA to JPO so thought it best to do a factory reset, but when phone booted up again, it started, then the screen went black with the occasional vibration. Tried all the usual things, removing battery & waiting, wiping cache etc., but no luck. Then put it in download mode & installed JPA again, but same problem on bootup. Thought I had finally managed to brick my phone (horrible feeling). So I solved it this way :-
Installed JM8 using .512 pit with repartition ticked, hooray my phone booted up again. The long delay after the S logo & finally completing boot was nail biting to say the lease. Now everything is working great & I am in the process of installing JPO.

"Touch the Future" - Won't boot sd!

My first post, long time reader and have learned alot but I am stumped...
My situation: Nook Color rooted way back in Decemeber, has worked like a champ. Yesterday I was reading and found the overclocking process. It mentioned downloading and installing the ROM Manager, which I did. Got the overclocking zip and tried to set up to install. Upon reboot, my screen flashed white and went directly to "Touch the future of Reading". I have tried everything suggested here and everywhere else on the internet. I have burned, formatted, reburned and still I don't see anything that would tell me it is even looking at the sdcard.
I am really disappointed in myself for not doing some more reading. But I am hopeful someone here can direct me in a good direction to get the damn SD to boot.
I have no data or software that I can't reload or reinstall later. I just want the thing to work.

[Q] Running a CM7 Nightly when Internal SD seems to have Self Destructed.

This Bell I9000m that this wonderful place helped me figure out how to toss CM7 Nightly into Just had a melt down this past week I need to figure out if I'm boned or not.
I was pulling my media off the internal SD card with Teracopy the night before it all happened in usb mass storage mode and ever since the data was pulled. Icons on my desktop would only start displaying AndroidMarket like logo's and not launching anything. So i would reboot the phone to see if it was just acting silly and it would only get worse.
So I tried factory resetting and clearing all the cache's via CWM bootloader than load the OS to no avail the system simply stopped booting so I tried installing via zip the original nightly that I had left on the internal SD that was a signed release... The install didnt pass the signature check.
At this point I've just put trying on hold to come and ask around here. Am i screwed or am I just around the corner from having my damn phone back.... again .... I need ideas or solutions to this problem.
***UPDATE***
Bell has sent the phone back with the note on the file, "Replaced Major Component" I cant even begin to imagine what that means. Besides everything is apparently less broken? Although i was recording a meeting in full 720P and it decided to randomly stop recording at 47 minutes without any apparent reason.
If anyone reads this and comes up with any ideas as to what may be able to be done let me know please.
I'm trying EZOdin and easybase but the format does not like to work regardless of the PIT file i use it never seems to play well. But im guessing its probably a good idea to start fresh.
Try regular Odin and see what it says but if you internal SD is hooped it will still flash but it won't boot. You are trying the EZbase Froyo 3 part file with pit?
You could try a stock rom also but note you may need to add a DBdata file to the stock rom if you repartition as you need a db data file and it is not included in jl2 or kc1. I guess kies used the existing one from eclair and that is why it is not there.
It sounds like it could be a dying SD card (especially the heavy file use just before issues started). Have you ever had to replace your handset yet?
G
Bell has had my phone for service twice the first time they charged me 60$ for some reason and the second time they did not.
But both times they just reloaded the phone and returned it to me even though both times were similar problems its like they're just trying to avoid having to deal with giving me a replacement.

[Q] Galaxy S stuck in boot-loop

Hi guys,
Gone through about 100 threads these last couple of days, but nothing helps, so have to start a new one.
What happened was that the other day my phone started ringing.
The screen however was black, so I could neither see who was calling nor answer the call.
I let it ring out, then I held the power button so it would shutdown.
Tried to restart it, and that's when the fun started.
The phone got stuck in a boot-loop, only showing the Galaxy S logo (not getting to the animated one).
Left it in this loop for several hours, since I've had problems recently with the phone needing to do this cycle 5-10 times before booting up.
This time it wouldn't boot, however.
I've tried putting the phone in a bag of rice for 18 hours, in case of any moisture inside, not helping.
Then I tried recovery-mode, formatting the whole thing, but I got the following error:
"E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2"
Found this thread to try to fix the format error.
Got into download mode, but Odin does not recognize the phone, and I started believing all hope for fixing it without sending it in was gone.
I've also tried applying a couple of update.zip's from the SD-card, just to have tried it, but every package got Signature verifcation-error.
Anyway, when I headed to bed last night I left the phone in the boot-loop, and to my surprice, 8 hours later it had booted into first-time configuration.
YES!!!
Configured the phone with language etc., then all of a sudden the animated Galaxy S logo appeared...
And it appeared again, and again, and again for about 15 min., until I unplugged the battery.
And now I'm back at square one, stuck in the boot-loop (not getting to the animated logo)...
I have the latest versjon of KIES, not that it probably matters.
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?
What rom were you using? stock or custom? Maybe it has something to do with lagfix if it was activated... im guesing, im not dev just normal user... Maybe try to reinstal usb drivers.
Just use odin 1.3 reflash official rom , everything would be OK.
Not sure about the ROM, bought the phone used... But pretty sure it's stock..
Since Odin didn't recognize the phone, reflashing it with official ROM would be hard...
However, as for the Odin problem, that was caused by a faulty USB-cable...
Used another one, and Odin worked like a charm.
The phone won't start after running through the steps in the thread I mentioned before, but I will try to reflash it with offical ROM now and see how that works.

Not sure about used phone, But if I bought the phone used, I would reflash rom first. Because I do not even know what they done before , reflash offical rom would be fix some problem.

Well, I would have if I knew... But stupid me thought that a phone was a phone.
How wrong was I?
Anyway, a little update here (the problem is kind of solved now):
Flashed the phone with 2.3.3 Gingerbread I found on dkszone, after running the steps in the previous mentioned thread.
And the phone started like a charm.
But after a few hours of configuring etc, I managed to insert the SD-card again, and all hell broke loose again...
Come to think about it, thats what I did yesterday too, so I've come to the conclusion that the SD-card is the main problem...
However, now the phone is slow... REAL slow... Kind of like my 1.5 year old HTC Touch Diamond 2 with WP6.5...
It takes up to 2 seconds to open menu items, keyboard etc.
Is there any way to fix that?
Or should I flash it with another ROM?
You mean the external sdcard? Maybe try to format it...
OK, so this is what I've now figured out:
The phone is damaged...
It seems that the internal SD has gone AWAL, and internal storage has somehow created itself on the external SD-card, thus the phone crashed when I switched cards...
When trying to format the USB-storage, I receive error: SD-card has been removed
So I guess I have to ship the phone off to Samsung ASAP...
