Can the Kindle Fire HD be unbricked using Rekindle-01, if so where do i short out the USB on the motherboard as the pics online do not help as they are for the Kindle Fire motherboard
what's the issue??? Does anything happen when you press the power button? Plus you might need a factory cable to get it working again.

I rooted the Kindle Fire HD with KFU 0.9.6, all went okay until it tried rebooting into recovery as part of the process and it hasn't turned on since ie nothing comes on the screen.
I have a Factory Cable but that isn't putting Kindle into Fastboot, ADB isn't seeing the device so am now trying via Rekindle via Ubuntu/Linux, this requires the USB to be shorted out to jump start the port but i don't know which connection on the motherboard to short out as the only pic online is for the KF not KFHD.

I believe it should only be soft bricked but can get no response from it so any help would be great.
The Kindle Fire Unbricker is useless, it even tells me my Kindle is now unbricked even when it is not plugged in. My ADB drivers are fine and i even had the SDK installed with all various drivers it brings to the party.
Sorry if i sound such a noob but i have done various PSP's, Wii's, iTouch, fixed Laptops etc but this has me totally screwed

First of all the tools/utilities you are using are for first gen KF, so that is why it bricked your device and why the other does not work. You need to flash a backup through fastboot. As for getting into fastboot , which device do you have? 7 or 8.9? On 7" power off the device, plug into pc with factory cable. If you have 8.9 you have to power off, use a fastboot cmd then power on while pc is waiting for device. Look in the development section, it has all the info you need to unbrick. Do not try the tools you mentioned, there is no need to open the device up to do any of this.

Still no response, thanks for the advice you gave me, i will try another Factory Cable, maybe mine is damaged in some way.

A similar thing happened to me.
I have a factory cable that I got from [2012androidfans on ebay]. It doesn't seem to do anything. I get no response from the Kindle Fire HD. Windows detects nothing.
(I installed a bootloader meant for a first gen kindle. I was blindly following a guide to update android and wasn't thinking what I was doing. Restarted the Kindle HD 7". Nothing.)

Well, Add me to the list. This is the first device I have actually ever bricked. I already had the KFU utility installed and accidentally ran the wrong batch file Im thinking it overwrote the factory boot/recovery partitions. I have a factory cable and its not showing anything under device manager upon plugging it in. Ive held the power down for 30 seconds, then plugged it in, but nothing shows. The sucky part is that its not mine, its a coworkers...... frustrating. Is there a way to fix it at this point?

This pictures to solder the board are for the original Kindle not the new Kindles. Finally, you do NOT want to solder the board on these models since every time you plug in to change the device, it will boot into Fastboot.

Sounds like you are well versed in this topic. You are correct, the boot and recovery partitions need to be recovered.

They both accomplish the same task in the end. There are known Bootloader issues with the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" so if you find yourself in an endless boot-loop, read our posts on how to recover the loop. Our tool automated the Boot-loop recovery. You will receive solid support on either tool.
I bricked the kindle fire hd 7in while trying to flash the newest android to it (used wrong bootloader). Anyway, when I start the kindle, it shows the first white/orange kindle fire logo, then it crashes to a black screen. When I plug in the factory cable, it shows the kindle fire logo and then goes to a logo that actually says "fastboot" with "kindle fire" under that, but then nothing happens. The device is not recognized by adb, but it has before, because i rooted it earlier. I can't get any unbricking utilities to work because the computer won't recognize it. How do I get my kindle to be recognized so that I can at least restore it?

Well you apparently didn't succeed in flashing the bootloader. It seems like you just installed an unsigned kernel so you are in better shape than most. Try Onemelia's system restore tool to see if that works. If not, you may have to restore the stock recovery as well.

No joy at all, just bought a new Factory Cable and still no response what so ever. I am as far as i can go now with no real experience on KF's. I even tried KF First Aide in conjunction with a Factory Cable and still nothing so where to go from here?
What is the condition of your battery? Charging port?

Bricked Kindle fire hd 7
i have a kindle fire hd 7 that i got as a store display
it was in a wierd demo loop so i tried to root it
i made my own factory cable and got it to go into fastboot then i tried running kind fire utilities to root the device and it failed and shut down.
Now it wont boot and even with the factory cable plugged in to the computer i get nothing i have taken it apart and pulled the battery but still nothing. im stuck now and could really use some help. this is my first kindle ever and its not going well.

I literally just solved this problem yesterday, you need to first plug your your factory cable into the pc using a working Kindle. That way the necessary driver, not the amazon adb driver, can be installed. Then plug it into your broken Kindle, it should now boot into fastboot.

I have the same problem. Were you able to fix it? I am thinking on doing the USB short trick I am not sure what pin to short out. Let me know if you found a solution.

I have a similar problem. I opened the kindle and made a connection from the usb-boot pin to ground.
No it shows up as
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0451:d010 Texas Instruments, Inc.
for a few seconds when I plug in the factory cable.
But how to go on from that point?

If you are dealing with a kf2 or higher then don't bother doing this as it won't work. We would need a aboot signed by amazon and we dont have it, without that we can't repair ours kindles this way, this only works on kf1. Though there is a method that you can recover a hard bricked kindle from involving soldering a usb sdcard reader to the emmc of a kindle. Btw plz start a thread next time, this was a big bump.
I have a Motorola Droid 4. I installed SafeStrap recently on it and installed CM11 to the stock rom (mistake I know). I kept running into issues and I finally sorted all of them out and I decided I wanted to restore back to stock and then install CM11 to a rom slot. I come to find out that I am unable to restore my stock backup as it keeps failing. So I then decide I am going to just go ahead and restore my CM11 backup to rom slot 1 and make it the active boot rom, but that turned out to fail to for whatever reason. I reboot my phone several times and received the Motorola logo followed by the dreaded Android on his back with his chest opened up and the exclamation point/triangle coming out of it.
So I gave in and decided to just go ahead and use the Droid Razr Utility that I have used before to reinstall the stock ROM and start all over. During this process everything seems to be going fine. I am able to boot into Fastboot, the PC recognized the phone and can see it. I then start the recovery by doing option "2" to wipe and install. My phone reboots a couple of times and then comes to the point of another reboot but the phone never turned back on. I've tried many button combinations to get this to boot up but nothing seems to respond. I have attached a screenshot of what the Droid Razr Utility showed when the phone was attempting to restart but never did.
I purchased a Fastboot cable to hopefully get me to the point of my PC recognizing the phone but that does not seem to work. When I plug in my phone Windows never detects anything. I removed all the drivers and nothing. If I plug the phone into a charger the Green light flashes for a split second. If I plug my phone into the computer the Green LED light will stay solid. According to Motorola this indicates that the battery is fully charged. I've tried reseating the battery to no avail.
So based on the information above and the attached screenshot, is my Droid 4 bricked and unusable now?
After doing a bunch of research I think I indeed bricked my phone. Since the ROM I tried flashing to my phone was not for the Droid 4 but rather the Droid RAZR, it looks like my phone is dead. I was hopeful and assumed that this would be able to be reversed by hooking up to a PC but apparently that is not the case. Perhaps I tripped the eFuse or something which is causing the boot loader to not initiate. I guess I need to get a new phone now unless someone has a nifty trick up their sleeve to get the phone accessible via a computer.
You are going to need a Team Black Hat cable, aka fastboot cable. Then plug it in, and run RSD Lite using the DROID 4's fastboot files. You can find the fastboot files at this website below. Download the one that matches the version of Android you have.

Even though my computer does not seem to recognize my phone when I plug it in. For example, I plug it in using the Fastboot cable and I never heard a sound from my computer like it knows something was just plugged in?
I did buy a fastboot cable from bluvector on amazon but that didn't seem to do anything for me. My Droid 4 still has a black screen and plays dead:crying:

Are you having the same problem as me? Your Droid 4 will not turn on and just sits at a black screen when you push the power button?

I received a FastBoot Cable but when I plug it in nothing happens. I also have a Kindle Fire HD and plugged the fastboot cable into it and powerd it down and back on and it boots normally. I'm wondering if the fastboot cable is faulty? Also I think my droid 4 may be completely shot since pushing the power button does nothing for me so I don't know how I could get back into Fastboot mode, unless a confirmed working fastboot cable will force the phone to boot and enter fastboot mode?

Motorola Devices will be powered by the Fastboot/Factory cable, when you connect the Droid 4 to pc via a fastboot cable, it should power on but you may need to select fastboot mode in bootmenu options.
Not sure about the kindle HD, but an Original Kindle Fire 1st gen, will boot direct to fastboot mode, when connected to a Fastboot cable
Both require Hardware cable and device to be working correctly.

According to the description on the amazon site that I bought this cable from it shows the cable as being able to support Kindle Fire HD, that is why I am thinking that this cable is faulty, since it is not working on my droid nor is it working on my Kindle Fire.
I am thinking on buying a different one and returning my current one but i'm hesitant to do so. I have my doubts that this will allow my Droid 4 to boot up and/or be recognized by my computer. Since I get no response with the Vol-, Vol+, Power button combinations i'm thinking this is hard bricked because of the wrong files I flashed to it.
Before I made this mistake the phone was at least responsive showing the android/exclamation point screen. Then my dumbass ran the wrong flashing utility and that was all she wrote.
Do you think there is hope for my my phone even though the power button yields no response? If the fastboot cable will at least allow my phone to be recognized by my computer then I think i could save it, but that is where i have my doubts, but would love to try.

If you flashed Droid Razr firmware, yes it's bricked. or haven't seen anyone recovery from that yet.
@bean1975, did you have any luck with getting the fastboot cable to recover your phone?
