First of all , are your last rom a STOCK based or CM7 rom?
If STOCK:
Return to your last ROM, restore your contacts and sms with TB, then use an app as Mybackup to backup your contacts and sms, finally flash the ultimate rom again and restore!
If CM7/9/10.1;
You can import/export contacts using CM7/9/10.1 with the default phone app to your SDCARD/SIMCARD and viceversa, I don't remember about sms, but I think it's possible too
It'll create a file into your SDCARD with .vdf extension, with this file you'll only need push on it to restore all your contacts in whatever ROM you'll use
BOTH > STOCK METHOD WILL WORK!

[Q] Transferring Apps between roms

Okay so I have one phone and I have a few games with saves that I'd like to keep. So if I use titanium backup to backup those apps and if i was to restore them after flashing a new rom and kernal would my save still be there?
So basically is using titanium backup to backup apps between different roms work?

I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what rom because if you back up the app and/or data with it just make sure you have titanium installed after you get settled in your new rom & the app & just restore data using titanium. You should be fine

I recently flashed my O2X and started to use CyanogenMod 7.1.0, but now since Ricardo Cerqueira have released a CM9 ROM with ICS I want to try it out.
I have ROM Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery installed, and cm9 + gapps ics is placed in the root of my SD.
Whats the best or easiest way to do an upgrade?

Make a full backup of your apps with titanium backup. After that go to clockworkmod and do a full nandroid backup. The apps with titanium you can recover after you install your new rom, and the nandroid backup from clockworkmod you can use to restore the full install you currently have. After backup is done, wipe all, and install the cm9 rom and directly after install the latest gapps. Reboot and enjoy ics. Use the market to download titanium and restore your apps. Be sure to buy titanium because recovering with the free version is a pain in the ass
Goodluck!
That was fast, thank you very much - I'll give it a try

[Q] [HELP ME] My apps Force Close on CM9

Hi guys!
I installed in first CM9 build of 17/05/2012 and every thing was good. But GooManager ask me to make an upgrade to the 23/05/2012 build and i do it.
After the flash i installed the Semaphore kernel 1.2.0, a datafix to avoid the storage message and finally i install the Gapps.
I reboot my device, open titanium backup and restore my apps. But when i open most of my apps it's make me a force close. Slightly angry i reflash the JVU 2.3.6 rom and restore again my apps, and the same problem appear.
Consequent 2/3 of my apps are unusable.
Please help me !!!
PS: my device is Samsung Galaxy S I9000
actually kernel: Semaphore 1.2.0
actually Rom: CM9 build 26/05/2012 (IMM76I)

thx
There has been an issue with a recent version of tb, I experienced it too. I think latest version resolved it. Restoring app only will work.

what was your previous rom? this happened to me after restoring Titanium backups.. May be because of the data fixer, i don't know...
Thanks a lot men i resolved the problem. It was the apps data who causes conflicts .
happy to hear that congratulations
This doesn't seem like a great solution. Most of the time the point of an app restore from TB is to get the app data. I have this problem anytime I upgrade a rom or switch to a new one. This never used to happen pre ICS at all, but even then early on in teamhacksung roms it worked fine. On AOKP/CM9 it doesn't.
How can I restore apps+data after a factory reset/rom upgrade/switch and not have 2/3 of my apps crash?

Actually I am facing the same problem as well...
Did a backup of "everything" and wiped and installed another build von CM9 - almost all apps I tried to restore WITH data are crashing, which is quite annoying, because I loose all my accounts / savegames / etc.
Before switching to CM9 this restore was never a problem...
Maybe your option with the symbolic links will work - hopefully... stay tuned...
update: does not work - even after enabling this setting, app restore works, but apps+data still leads to a crash
Make sure you use the latest version of tb. There was a version which created a lot of these problems a while ago.
But in a few cases, I don't know any other solutions than restoring app only. Then try your most important app data backups one at the time. It's most likely that your backups became corrupted, that's also a good reason to keep a backup history of more than one.
Using GT-I9000 my sent Tapatalk 2 from.
that's all you can do now I think, one at a time and find which ones work, tedious but that's the way it goes when you flash a lot, I just don't value too much data I in my apps, and let's face it....game data really isn't that important

Wait for custom recovery. There you can backup/restore.
Thank you for the quick response. With custom recovery will I be able to backup and post here the backup for everybody else with Galaxy S Advance to use it ?
I'm no Expert but here's my answer..
As I now know that that the Developers are working on CWM Recovery... just wait for a few days for them to release.. you can then use it to make a nandroid copy of your "modified" ROM...
As of now, Varun is working on a Permanent CWM Recovery.. he has already made it but it has got some bugs in it so he's busy fixing em..
Meanwhile check out this article to learn how to Backup And Restore Nandroid Images Using ClockworkMod Recovery
This is a "Temporary" CWM Recovery (Click Here)... I didn't use it but I heard it has got a lot of bugs in it...
I can see that Shut_Down has already answered you...

you can make a cwm .zip file with a script that erase /system folder and extract yours, optionally you can flash a kernel in the same script with dd tool, etc.

Great idea, but I think that the whole backup is more noob-proof. We can not predict what a mess could be done, like flashing that zip over a GB rom because that person do not read the thread.

well, thinking that way nothing is idiot-proof, why care too much about people not reading/not understanding what they're reading? by the way, if you make nandroid backup there's some risk (or at least for some roms) that the MAC address will be cloned - not a very good idea.
and there's always a big red disclaimer in OP, so...
btw. to the author: can I have a request/wish? it'd be JB AOSP lockscreen

If you have made a Nandroid backup (backup via the Recovery), then you could use the Titanium Backup app to restore parts of that backup.
I think that is a payed function in the app, but i am not sure about that.
Hello guys, I'm using the last release of xiaomi.eu beta but I'm considering give a shot for other rom. JDC, LOS or RR which one you guys recommend? Maybe some rom with android 8.0?

Please take a look in the Developer section.
There are several and everybody has it's own favorite.
Just try several and make your own choice, depending on the features you need/want.

As far as i know, it only has the app and app settings, and i don't think it has app data in that backup.
I am afraid that you lost the data.
